We just purchased our first home so we found Mr. Nelson Lopez to add in some storage and a counter top in our very empty laundry room. He responded to my quote request almost immediately and we set up a time for him to come by and look at the area. I already had a design in mind so he helped make it a reality. He had other projects going on at the same time but during that first meeting, he told me his background was building homes. Well, I actually had a list of other items that we needed to have done so though we initially hired Nelson for the laundry room project, he also ended up helping us out with a few other items: more support for the pantry shelves, recessed lighting above the kitchen sink, paint jobs, custom recessed shelving, and electrical items. I'm new to fixing up houses but I also got a few other quotes and his was fair and despite being busy, he finished everything within a week of having everything confirmed. If there were any issues, he would give me a call to inform me and take the proper measures to take care of it. A few of the new cabinet doors closed partially and he took the time to fix them right after I told him. Nelson stayed professional the entire time and though he may be a little hard to get a hold of when he's working at another project site, he will get back to you. He even seemed okay with all my questions, some of which were sent at random times, which is great. It sometimes got complicated since both my husband and I worked and the house was empty so we would need to go by and open/close the door, but everything worked out beautifully. As soon as he finished everything, the house definitely felt more like a home, minus all of my stuff. If I ever have another project, I'd definitely go with Brito Designs to get them done. Reasons why I initially chose Nelson and his crew: -He said he only does one job at a time -He seemed knowledgeable about the scope of work -He had good reviews on Yelp -He said he doesn't subcontract out any of his work except the shower glass Reasons for the two star: -He actually had another job going on when he started my project, and started another job when my project wasn't completed yet -He subcontracts out the shower cap/stone My shower remodel was a disaster. Initially, he was able to deliver a good product. However, a week after my shower was installed, I noticed water leaking and my shower mat soaked. I reached out to Nelson and he said he would fix it since the cap was angled the wrong way causing water to leak out. They came and removed the cap, and reinstalled a different one. However, when removing the cap, they damaged the liner and patched it (but its still not a new liner anymore), they damaged the grout and instead caulked it so it wasn't like it was before, and damaged the baseboard which I had to tell him to replace because he was planning to just caulk it to fix the damage. Its probably by accident, but his crew ended up taking some brooms and dustpan when they left. After a few weeks when I was looking for them, I realized they had taken it. He ended up losing one of my brooms but returned the other items after a week. No apology about taking my stuff nor about losing my broom. Reasons for a two star instead of a one is because I have a somewhat okay shower in the end, but it was a nightmare of a process. If you're not a detail oriented person, maybe Brito might work for you, otherwise I would choose another contractor if I had the chance to do this project again read more

I found Nelson through Yelp. I had two previous contractors who would not return my call and when I reached out to Nelson he was reliable, prompt, and true to his word. He came and gave us a quote and started work right away. He arrived at the house early and stayed until the job was done. He always cleaned up and was extremely professional. He has a system and is meticulous and efficient. He usually does one job at a time so you get all of his attention to detail and he sticks to his timeline, which included a quick turnaround. He worked in our kitchen and two bathrooms and finished in about 3 weeks or so. If things are not to your liking, he makes sure that they are fixed. He is a good communicator and hard worker. In fact, he fixed several doors and other little things that he noticed. He is now working on my parents house and I have referred him to several friends. We hired Nelson to remodel two bathrooms in our home. Overall we are very happy with both projects. We chose Nelson mainly for these reasons: · He's a hands-on contractor, typically doing much of the work himself · He seemed detail oriented · During our consultation he indicated that he used quality materials · He listened to our initial ideas and provided some useful suggestions · He had good reviews and feedback which seemed genuine · His experience level with construction and remodeling One of our bathrooms was a very challenging space to work with. We feel that Nelson worked with us on the plan and gave some good suggestions along the way. He used quality materials during the remodels: plywood cabinets rather than MDF, high quality cement backer, sheetrock, and paint. One added complexity is that we wanted the walls fully tiled, and with an older home none of our walls are straight. Nelson delivered with fabulous results! They look great. He really paid attention to details. We did both bathrooms back-to-back, taking about 12 weeks to complete with a break during the holidays. Nelson was very communicative throughout. He kept both projects moving along timely. If he needed our input for a decision, he was quick to pause and ask for our preference. He does use some subcontractors as can be expected (vanity tops, shower door glass, cabinet installation). All of them were very respectful and courteous, and they also used quality materials. He was typically on site during any of the work performed by any of the subcontractors, or if not he always asked us ahead of time if we were OK for the subcontractors to come without him being on site. Any issues we noted he has addressed and corrected. We never had to remind him about any of the items we noted. He even pointed out and replaced two tiles that had chips that we had not noticed. I had Brito Design work on 2 townhomes for us to put on the rental market. They performed all work within the time frame and budget agreed on. We replaced kitchen cabinets and countertops as well as appliances. In the bathrooms we replaced the tub and showers and water lines and installed new tub with a tile surround and replaced all fixtures. Nelson uses a program to show you the best way when it comes to moving walls and the finished look was exactly what we wanted. All flooring replaced as well as light fixtures and added new lighting. We initially started the search process in late May for a contractor to re-do our kitchen and re-paint and re-carpet our new home, and once we decided to go with them, they were able to start almost immediately. Nelson and Hanh are excellent communicators and are very responsive to both texts and email, and offer their own advice and expertise without trying to overrule what you want. They provide almost daily updates on the progress of the project. They are also very good about being flexible and changing/adding onto the job stuff additional we requested as the project went along. As someone mentioned below, they are not the cheapest nor the most expensive in terms of pricing, but with that you get the peace of mind that they will do everything the right way and not cut any corners. Our home was made in 1974 but has been extremely well taken care of. We knew we wanted to revamp the old brick fireplace in a way that would liven it up a bit without losing some of that old charm. Nelson w/Brito Designs came out and immediately saw that we didn't have many windows so he suggested we go with a light colored stone, some recessed lighting, and some glass shelves which would allow the light to go all the way through and lighten up the living room. We were nervous at first but it ended up being a great idea. We love the way it looks and have gotten several compliments. I would highly recommend Mr. Nelson for home remodeling and designing. Our home was previously flooded by Harvey and needed major work. I used another contractor for my downstairs and soon realized the pains of working with contractors. When my husband and I decided to remodel the rest of our home after some initial work done, we found Mr. Nelson. Just like any contractor, I was very skeptical after dealing with a previous company. However, Mr. Nelson came to our home promptly and sat down with us to discuss his background and expectations of his work. We planned for him to redo our bathroom, tear out our carpet and replace it with wood flooring, upgrade our lighting throughout our home, add a storage room, a mother-in-law closet, paint, and completely redo our stairs. What separates Mr. Nelson from others are his ideas. He doesn't just do the work, he does it with a design and style in mind. For example, we thought about replacing our standing shower with a tub. Since my husband prefers a standing shower, Nelson created a design that expanded our bathroom to incorporate a standing shower as well as a garden tub. He gave me a timeline of 14 days and they finished in 10. The quality of work is top notch and he was efficient. In any project there are challenges and Nelson would keep me in the loop for my input and provide his experience to move forward on the project. He was able to put together a plan in a very detailed contract and started work within a few weeks. He has very high expectation for himself and his crew. They covered all the furniture, laid paper down to cover the floor and swept and cleaned each afternoon prior to leaving. I have been more than pleased with our interactions with Brito Designs. Our house required a significant amount of wood rot replacement and other repairs, not the least of which was the replacement of a large palladium window located in a staircase. Mr. Nelson Lopez was the consummate professional from beginning to end. Nelson arrived on time and conducted a complete inspection of the damage, including taking measurement and several photographs which he used to provide a detailed estimate of the work. During the repair process, Nelson and his crew maintained that same level of professionalism, working quickly and skillfully to execute the work. My townhouse needed a kitchen renovation and other updates and repairs so I could put it on the market. I interviewed Nelson Lopez among other contractors and chose Nelson because he was the most professional and knowledgeable - he offered guidance I was not even looking for but was glad to have as he clearly knows a lot about design and renovation and offered a number of good suggestions up front. I have not been disappointed - not just with the quality and quantity of the work, but with the value Nelson added to the renovation project. Every day the work was going on, three to five workers - painters, carpenters, tile and countertop installers, a shower door installer - showed up by 8:30 am, along with Nelson, and worked til 5 or 6 each day, including Saturday, so work that, in my experience, would have taken another contractor a month or more was done in 2 weeks. Nelson is very detail oriented and meticulous and all the work has been finished to a very high standard. His suggestions on seemingly insignificant updates - changing out ac register covers and light switches, painting door frames, etc. - which had not occurred to me, have given the house a clean, fresh look and added so much to the updated appearance.
