Do not take your business here. This is the second time I've given this shop a chance, and the work is simply not quality. I asked for a simple polish and conditioning on a pair of leather boots, and the result was awful. The polish didn't match, the finish looked dull, and it didn't even seem conditioned. The customer service was just as bad--rude and unprofessional. I should have known from my first experience, but I thought a basic polish couldn't go wrong. I was wrong. Took a pair of Bass shoes (with what I was surprised to learn were plastic soles that had cracked in three places) to Brite Shoe Service. The very friendly owner replaced the shoddy soles (really Bass?) with Vibram soles. The shoes are now better than they were when new. The work was done on time and was meticulously performed. He talks s lot and gets angry if you question his work. I have used him several times, and was satisfied maybe 1/3 of his work. I kept using him because he's the only one I know of close to me. Going forward though, I really need to look for someone in another city, am sure there are better than him. When I returned to explain what happened and stated I had never worn the shoes after his repair, he basically called me a liar and tried to change me another $15 to repair a shoe he should have fixed in the first place. Terrible service. I brought in two pairs of men's shoes, looking to double up on the height the heel. I was quoted a whopping $80, but I went ahead and left them to be taken care of. They were promised by 12:30 PM two days later on a Thursday afternoon. I come at 1 PM and the shoes haven't even been touched. I'm more irritated that someone couldn't even pick up the phone and give me a call to save me the trip. I'm then promised they'll be ready by 4:00 PM. I come back at 4:45 PM, and surprise, they're still not ready. When my husband voices his frustrations, all we get in response are excuses about how there were "family issues" that morning, complaints about how I demanded the shoes be done in such a short period of time, and how the shoes are "too weak". Aside from the terrible service, the place looks like a hot mess. Each time I've visited, there's a messy pile of shoes at the counter, and everything behind the counter looks even worse. Not cool. Had bad experience there. I took a brand new purse to have the shoulder strap shortened. They cut off way too much leather and just glued the ends instead of sewing them together. I could have done this myself at home. They put in extra holes in the strap that are all misaligned. Very poor wormanship. read more

They have moved to 509 Main Street in downtown Laurel. First, unlike many businesses in Laurel they don't close at 2:00 pm on Saturday--just when us M-F working folk are rushing around trying to get all our stuff done. They are open until 6. So, I took my badly skinned Ecco dress shoes there Sat at 3:30 for a good polish. Inexpensive, back in 20 minutes, and looking like new. Then he punched a new hole in my belt, no charge. Good neighborhood, friendly service. The Korean big boy there is fun to talk to if you are new in town--he can point you to some good inexpensive restaurants. read more
