I needed to have stepsavers put on the tips of my shoes I stopped by several times but they were not available so I ended up coming back and bringing a pair of boots that needed to be restored that are my favorite I had them for at least 10 years and I hadn't worn them because the hill was messed up. The leather on the heal was dented and nicked up and so I just haven't worn them and i did not want to get rid of them. I decided to bring them in to see if they could be restored and low and behold the gentleman behind the counter told me that he could replace the leather on the heels and Shine the boots up and restore them. They look amazing when I pick them up I couldn't belive how nice they looked. I was also able when I came back to get the step savers for the tips of my new shoes.The shoes are pointy and when I'm walking it was scraping off the front of the shoe where the tip was so I wanted to add step Savers to preserve the tips of the shoes. The prices were very reasonable he didn't overcharge me in fact he charged me a few dollars less than what he originally told me when I came in to get the tips put on the shoes. This will definitely be my go-to place in the future when I need shoes repaired or restored. There are not many cobblers in the area so when I found this one I was happy. Definitely if you're looking for someone to restore repair fix your shoes and I believe they fix other things. While picking up my shoes a gentleman came in with a suitcase and he wanted some straps replaced on it and they were able to do that as well. I walked in last week as I had my heel peeling off of one of my pairs of dress shoes. My first assumption was that I would need a new pair of shoes as they were nearly 10 years old. Out of curiosity I checked the area for shoe repair shops and there happened to be King cobblers about 1 mile from my work. Sure enough he got new bottoms on and shined up to bring them back to brand new. Blew my expectations away. I was in a rush and only had one pair of shoes with me. He did it on the spot and was very cool to see how it's done. Truly a craft. I would highly recommend king cobblers. This business brought my daughter's favorite heels back to life! Apparently she had worn the shoes so much that they had holes the size of half dollars on the bottom, all the way through to the insoles. Both heels were also worn past the nails, and she never thought to tell me. I took them (in their sorry state) to King's Cobbler and he did a wonderful job making them functional again. Napoleon did an excellent job with my new pink Valentinos. I had accidentally torn the leather on one of the back stiletto heels when it got stuck in between some backyard pavers and he was able to delicately pull the leather back and glue it properly again. He also recommended putting a protective layer underneath the shoes to help them last longer, and it all looked great and professionally-done. So, after about 10 years, my absolutely favorite pair of Franco Sarto Sport loafers finally gave out. I managed to wear a huge hole straight through the toe area and the rubber heals were disgustingly scuffed and scraped up. I searched the Internet ferociously to find a replacement pair, but much to my chagrin, this particular pair of shoes was discontinued and not available anywhere. Sorely disappointed, I decided to take the shoes to a local cobbler/shoe repair shop located inside Arundel Mills Mall in Hanover, Maryland. The guy there took one look at the shoes and told me that there was nothing that could be done to save them. I was inconsolable. After lamenting to a friend about having to throw away my favorite pair of loafers, she suggested that I give King's Cobbler in King's Contrivance, Columbia, Maryland a try. She thought highly of the guy who ran the shop. So I drove from Anne Arundel County to Howard County to give my shoes one last shot at a repair. Upon arrival, I was warmly greeted by Mr. Napoleon. I hesitantly and embarrassingly showed him my shoes and asked if anything could be done to save them. Without blinking, he took the shoes and began working on them. As he worked, we shared a very pleasant conversation about his business and some difficult repairs he managed to resolve over the years. Within 5-10 minutes, my shoes were repaired -- the hole was gone! Mr. Napoleon suggested that I leave the shoes with him so he could shine them up a bit and restore some luster. I agreed since I knew I had another pair of shoes that needed his assistance. My other shoes you ask -- a relatively new pair of Frye Elyssa Cognac Oxfords that were about a half size too small. Apparently Frye doesn't make them any larger. And that has been the story of my life since I wear a woman's size 11.5. So I asked Mr. Napoleon if he could stretch the shoes a half size. His response: "Sure, no problem!" He also suggested adding reinforcement soles to preserve the wear on this very nice pair of shoes. I trusted him, so I gave him the go ahead. He told me the shoes would be ready by next Tuesday. I returned the following Tuesday as promised. I was delighted that Mr. Napoleon recognized me immediately and greeted me with a happy smile. He treated me as if I was a long time customer or an old friend. He completely warmed my heart! When he showed me my Franco Sarto loafers, I almost cried. My favorite pair of loafers had been restored! I don't have to part with them after all and will likely get another 5-10 years out of them. My Frye Oxfords fit like a charm and I loved the slip resistant, reinforcement soles he added. They were a nice touch! Now, I know I can get me that other pair of Frye shoes I've been wanting that are also a half size too small! I'll just bring them to Mr. Napoleon, so he can work his magic! I was so thrilled with his service, I spontaneously and unexpectedly hugged him -- much too his surprise! I will definitely be returning to King's Cobbler with all of my future shoe problems. This place is an overpriced joke. I asked him to glue on something soft so a strap didn't press on my toes. Three weeks, and 6 visits later (when he told me to come because "they'll be ready") he did nothing. What he did do is glue on pads in places that didn't need it (not did I ask for them). He ruined the inside part of the heel and other parts when he stripped the glued on pieces and didn't even fix that... the suede is gone and gooped up from the glue residue. I said I'd take my shoes (ruined, I was done) and asked for my money back, he threw it at me. So yeah, not going back. P.S. he wanted $100 to replace heel tips on two pairs of heels, in addition to the aforementioned padding. Oh, one more thing: when you walk in, you walk into a cloud of cigarette smoke; new mixed with the old stink. Gross! read more

I will never return to this shop again. The owner is unorganized, rude, and the place is a chaotic mess. I dropped off 2 pairs of heels and 1 boot almost 4 weeks ago. I was charged $68 to repair all 3 and told to return in less than a week. I travel for work so I returned a week later. My two pairs of heels were ready but the boot was not - all it needed was a zipper. He asked me to return in 3 days to pick it up but because I travel each week I told him I would be back that following Saturday. I went in on Saturday 11/19 to pick up my boot and the owner could not find it. He kept searching and still couldn't locate my book. He told me he would call me in an hour and I could come back to get it. I told him I would not come back today because it's out of my way and he said someone would deliver it to my apt for free. He did not call me back in an hour but in 3 days. He left me a voicemail saying he found my boot but it was not repaired and he will have it ready in two days. Again, I was out of town so I knew I would just drop by Saturday, which brings me to this review. Today, 11/26, I made my 4th trip to pick up my boot. As soon as I walked in her held up this boot and happily said, "we found it and it's ready!" The problem - it was not my boot. I clearly described my boot as a brown leather Bandolino ankle boot with a kitten heel. This was a knee high boot with a chunky heel. At this point I'm realizing he has no idea where my boot is. He starts searching through this chaotic mess of shoes and keeps asking me if this is my boot - again, I gave him a full description and he's showing me everything opposite of my boot. I'm so agitated that I told him this was absolutely unacceptable and that he needs to find my boot or give me my money back + money for one boot. He asked how much I paid for my boots and when I told him he said I needed to bring in a receipt. I told him I'm not doing that, you lost my boot, and now I have to do all of the work to get my money? He started raising his voice and telling me to calm down but I let him know quickly that he was not going to talk to me like that and how dare he tell me to calm down when he is running an unorganized mess of a business. That he not once apologized and instead he thought he had the right to just talk to me any type of way. At this time a customer walked in and heard the exchange. She told him she's a new customer but after watching his behavior and losing a customers shoe then she'll take her business elsewhere. I told him he needed to compensate me and reimburse me what I prepaid for the repair, $40. He calmed down, rolled his eyes, and gave me $60. He did not apologize and I thanked him for the money and walked out. I will NEVER spend my money here again and I will NEVER allow anyone to talk to me like that. Updated: I was able to finally get a hold of the owner of the entire chain of stores - who took care of me and my shoes - returned them like new. He's also hired Napoleon to work in the Columbia store - and he is just fantastic. Always ask for him. I brought a brand new pair in a few weeks back, and while he fixed those - he also fixed the shoes I walked in on (loose nail). Great service. Took four pairs of shoes in early last week one to be resoled, 3 for Heel replacement and one of those three to get cleaned up. Picked up my shoes today and two of my pairs of shoes are completely ruined the patent leather is wrinkled on the heels of the heel taps are too large. And on the other the heel taps are too large and they got black paint all over the red soles of my Christian Louboutins. Two pairs of shoes each about $850, ruined by and incompetent person. Who does not understand customer service. Refusal to let me speak to a manager or owner refusal to refund my money. I will be calling until I reach the owner and have my shoes replaced. I was referred here by my best friend's mom who has gotten shoes and purses fixed here. I love my shoes to death. I've taken my favorite pair of boots and heels to get new heels, and even a pair resoled. Usually, I get my shoes back in a couple of days without breaking my wallet, but one time I had to wait a week in December. I've never had an issue with any of the work done. I've only had an issue once when I got a spot of something on my suede purse. I have no idea what it was. It would have been $30 to clean it, but they said they couldn't clean it without damaging my purse unless the knew what caused the stain. I'm glad they told me rather than destroy my purse. They refunded my $30. Either way, the service is always helpful and friendly. I highly recommend coming here for any services needed to fix your shoes or purses. read more

I've been there on two occasions in the past six months and I was sorely disappointed each time. The first time I visited, I asked the cobbler to fix the braided straps on a leather designer handbag. The straps came untwined and I requested that he re-braid and re-fasten them. When I returned two days later to pick up the purse, one strap was looked good as new; the braid was re-twisted and neatly glued down to lock it in place. The other strap looked a hot mess; the strands of the braid were poorly jumbled together. When I went to examine it, it all came apart again! Then the cobbler glared at me and told me not to touch it. Umm what?! I asked him to repair this strap just like the other one, and he huffed & puffed like I was making a big deal out of nothing. What terrible (and confusing) customer service! On my second visit, I brought in a pair of wedges and a pair ankle boots both made of synthetic leather. I asked the cobbler to 1) secure the splitting soles of both shoes and 2) clean/polish them so that they looked like new. Now I realize that synthetic leather cannot always be treated like real leather, but my old cobbler used to hook my shoes up all the time. The cobbler took one look at the shoes and said that there was nothing he could do to repair them! I asked if he could at least glue down the soles, and he said that that wouldn't be possible. Well, one bottle of krazy glue later and I can affirm that he was incorrect! After those two negative experiences, I cannot imagine why I would ever patronize this shop ever again! read more

I saw some good reviews of King's Cobbler and decided to bring in a pair of boots and a pair of Keds. Napoleon said he would put suede soles on the Keds, and repair holes on the back of my boots. He ended up replacing the entire soles of the boots, and the total for both was $170. The boots looked good, but when I put them on the were suddenly way too tight, squishing my toes by fusing the body of the boot with the heavy new rubber sole. I had loved the boots because they were comfy and lightweight, and both those aspects were now ruined. This is probably my own fault for not predicting how the repairs might go, but I think it would have been nice to be warned. I brought in another pair of Keds to get suede on the bottoms a few months later, and if memory serves it cost around $75. When finished the new soles were not really rounded to the shoes - you could see jagged edges where they'd been cut. A friend told me she'd gotten suede soles for almost half that price that actually looked good, so I was pretty disappointed. read more

I had some uggs that looked pretty beat up as I wore them in the snow. The salt/moisture left a really bad stain that I could not get out. I went ahead and ordered another pair because I figured they were hopeless. I decided though to TRY getting them clean and then i could return the new ones and save some cash. IM SO GLAD I TRIED.
