Great experience! They stretched my brand new, out the box, too narrow boots to near perfection! They educated me on the process and answered my questions before I paid for the service. That was the first time I professionally stretched any shoe and it won't be the last! I only wish they would've called when the shoes were ready. I later found out that it's not part of their policy. I say that to say, "don't forget about your shoes!" I almost did and I couldn't remember what shop I took them to because I called a handful before deciding on this one and of course I accidentally tossed my ticket when I cleaned out my car ‍.

Close up of the crease marks Fortuna's put all over a brand new shoe - bent it in half to show something about the sole. Terrible judgement.

I handed over a pair of pristine, never-worn boots and watched in shock as the man at Fortuna's bent the beautiful un-creased shoe in half repeatedly at the toe to show something about the sole. I told him to stop, but I guess he couldn't hear me over the noise of the store and the mask, but regardless it shows terrible judgement to do something that everyone knows will mark and damage the leather. Someone who's whole job is caring for shoes would certainly know that. So now I have one lovely sleek boot and one lined in creases, including a line across the toe that makes it look bulbous. Yes, in time the shoe would have gotten creased (although not that creased), but that is for me, the owner, to do with wear over time. There's also some shmutz on the tongue that won't brush off. As I said, brand new, unworn shoes that I removed from the box in the store, removed the cardboard form that comes inside new shoes in front of the man and told the man that I'd like my brand new shoes stretched. I schlepped all the way out to Bethesda to get my new shoes stretched because the cobbler in my neighborhood said he'd have to apply some kind of solution to the shoes when he stretched them and I didn't want anything changing the appearance of my shoes. Fortuna's said they would do the stretch without putting anything on the leather, which they indeed didn't. And the shoes do fit better now, despite the limitation of being lined in fabric rather than leather. But the whole point was to preserve the appearance of my new shoes and instead Fortuna's took them and immediately damaged one. Photos of the shoes in different light attached.

Woah ...guys come on! I've been using you for years making the trek up from Georgetown to Bethesda to have my belts resized and your work is amazing so I have stayed loyal. So, the time has come to have some shoes, of sentimental value resoled and polished and whatever else you said the shoes needed and upon closer inspection I was so disappointed to see you leave out the "finishing touches" the "details" see for yourself! Dye(?) left on the buckles. I mean it took me about 15 minutes and an Amor All brand all-purpose-cleaner to get it off so it's not that hard but a Client should not have to do that. Glue residue left on the heel! See for yourself! I mean, using the same cleaning cloth and the tip of a knife to get into the grooves I was able to make them spotless. This didn't take me a long time but again the Client should not have to deal with that issue. I want to continue using your services and I hope this review will serve to improve the final product and therefore lead to a Client that will not only be satisfied but thrilled with the outcome which will lead to "word of mouth" referrals that is how I heard of you so many years ago. I stopped in with a bag that needed a zipper repair. The overnight bag isn't expensive, I probably should have gotten rid of it a long time ago, but it's a lovely crocodile embossed purple bag and I just love it. Everyone else told me $45 and up to repair, so it just sat in the closet unused. I just happened to be walking by and had the bag in my trunk, so I stopped in to see about having the zipper repaired. The gentleman behind the counter was really nice, explained what the problem was with my zipper and then told me to hold on. He grabbed a tool and in 5 minutes flat my zipper was operational. He warned me that the zipper was not a very good one and would likely need to be replaced in the future but didn't charge me for the repair. I was truly impressed with his great customer service and would definitely use them in the future should I need shoes or bags repaired.

Nobody will ever really see the bottoms when you're walking but this is what they look like

I have been going here since I needed my first pair of loubis re-soled and haven't regretted it since! I take my brand new loubis in now to get soled before scuffing them up on the streets. I don't use the vibram soles but these other brighter red soles they have at the store that offer traction, protection, and look really nice! It costs $40 and takes a week, but is worth the wait! I will continue going to them to protect my favorite pairs of Christian louboutins :). Thank you!

I had moved a little bit out of the area, so I looked up new options around me. I called a shoe repair shop with a number of five star reviews in Chevy Chase, and I ask how much it would cost to add a Topy. This lady proceeded to berate me, saying what on earth am I talking about. I explained that the Topy was a rubber sole that would cover my existing leather sole, she said why didn't I say that then? So I went back to my old neighborhood and took the shoes to Bethesda Shoe & Luggage Repair, I asked the gentleman for a Topy and he said no problem. To me, if you don't know the major manufacturers of products in your industry (Vibram, Dainite, Topy etc.) then you shouldn't be in this line of business. Anyway, rant over - the gentleman here did a fine job with the three pairs of shoes I dropped off and instead of looking for a new place in my new area, Bethesda Shoe and Luggage Repair will retain my business. I don't think their prices are out of whack, sure you could add a rubber sole covering to your shoes yourself for less, but I prefer it done professionally and expeditiously. I have also had luggage zippers repaired here, my wife has had heels fixed here, and everything was done on time and done well. No issues.

I dropped of my shoes two weeks bf Christmas. TWO WEEKS.Owner said ( as he gave me my repair…read moreticket) completed by Dec 27th! Cool! I called January 10 to say I would pick up by the 24th.... Then SNOWMAGEDON happened! Mind you... I took my repair to this particular shop from a personal friends' review.... So today ( Feb 2,2026) I drove down to pick up my shoes..... The owner looked at me with confusion as I handed him my repair ticket. I described my shoes to a T...5 inch stilettos with a wide crisscross strap. Still confused face. I literally watched this man walk over to a pile of shoes and rummage through pairs and pairs of shoes to eventually find mine on the bottom of the pile.... Dusty and half stripped . So I knew work had started on them bc I did not drop them off in the condition I took them back in. I inquired as to why they were not finished and he said " it's been busy, then snow". I also asked why he did not tell me he had not finished them when I called ( and I gave him the tix number on the 10th of January). He shrugged his shoulders. At this point.... ZERO APOLOGY! ZERO offer to complete the repair at a 25% discount.... I did not ask him for one. He said... and I quote..." you said take your time".... In my mind and most other customers minds.... Take your time means in a reasonable time..... HE gave me the date of completion for Dec 27.... Again.... Shoulder shrugs! How does someone run a business like this? Lack of respect for my shoes ( found on the floor) lack of honoring the delivery date with ZERO APOLOGIES. Then have the audacity to place blame on THE CUSTOMER for not having the repair FINISHED because I stated take your time! SOMEONE MAKE THIS MAKE SENSE TO ME!!!! I called my friend who highly recommended MASTER REPAIR SHOP in Rockville Maryland to me and let him know how my repair project was treated. He was beyond shocked. Many apologies from my friend but not ONE from the OWNER! Please avoid this shit hole ( physically a nasty mess... where my shoes were found on the floor) AT ALL COSTS!!! The owner is CLUELESS on how to provide great customer service. It was HEINOUS AND DEPLORABLE AT BEST! With the damage done to my shoes ( because he started my project) the price to fix them at another shop up the road was 50 dollars MORE... at $150.00! That's double the cost of the shoes when I bought them. When the owner said he would fix them in the next MONTH ( I have a late Winter wedding to attend and wanted to wear the shoes in question) I nearly lost my mind! I stared at him with such disappointment .... He then said... and I quote..." You didn't pay YET, so here" and held out my shoes to take. I took them and as I left I told him what I thought of his shitty customer service in Italian, Spanish and English! I'm sure he understood ONE of the three languages I speak! Master Repair Shop in Rockville, Md is a horrible place to have your shoes repaired. The customer service is beyond repair itself and I will NEVER EVER allow this shop to work on any of my shoes if I'm in need of repairs. It should NOT TAKE over 7 weeks to repair something this simple as my repair needs..... in his words! A complete disaster and I give Master Repair Shop in Rockville, Md a negative 10.... -10 !!!! Zero stars!!!! Had to put one star rating other wise it would not allow me to post! But still.... ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! A total shit hole! Kathryn L

That stop is run by Noah who is very nice and super knowledgeable about his craft and has been in the service for 10 plus years. I couldn't go to him this time because of circumstances so I decided to try this cobbler in Westfield Montgomery Mall that I will be writing about. Below is my experience and review and it is VERY lengthy: I brought in shoes that I bought from the thrift store to be repaired. The soles of the derby's were coming apart so I just needed them to be glued back to the midsole. Somewhat easy fix. I go to this cobbler on a Friday and inquire about the service. The man who runs the shop tells me it is about $65 to repair, which I would say is reasonable. I ask him how long it would take him to fix and he tells me, "about a week." The man gives me a ticket and says to bring it back when I pick them up and that I would get "a text message" from him when the shoes are finished, as he asks for your phone number. This is where the problem arises. A week passes by and I even wait an extra day, so it is now Saturday of the next week. I receive no text so I decide to call the shop and inquire about the shoes. The man picks up and I ask about the shoes and I give him the ticket number, he goes to check. He comes back to the phone and says, "I'm still working on your shoes" and has the AUDACITY to say "don't call the shop unless you get a text." What? There is no point in having a phone if you're just going to answer and say that when people are inquiring about their stuff. There are previous reviews where the same situation is mentioned. So I ask him about how long until they are ready, he says "probably Monday and Tuesday." So a service that was first said to only take a week now needs another 4 days, which is I think in my opinion, unprofessional. I wait the extra couple days, and it is now Thursday, an extra TWO DAYS later after he said he would be finished and I STILL have no text message. I decide to call the shop AGAIN and this time he surprisingly says "yes it is ready, I just need to clean them up." At this point I rush over to the shop to pick up the shoes because I no longer want to deal with this shop. When I go to pick them up, I see one of my shoes in his hand and I tell him that those are mine, he says "oh I am just finishing up, sorry I was busy this morning" that's not really an excuse when the service was literally extended by 6 days. The shoes themselves are okay but like another prior review had said, the hassle alone is not worth the service. Would not recommend.
