Took a few belts there to get new holes added. Shop is friendly, prompt, etc. They repair shoes, luggage, etc. Great place.

I don't get the negative reviews on this place! I was recommended to come here by a friend and had tons of work done on my shoes from heel repair, brand new heals, sole repairs, etc. Everything was done in a timely manner and came back like a brand new pair! The prices are also reasonable. I had a pair of nice Prada heels where the sole was worn out from years of wear. Literally, the heels were bare metal and the soles which were originally leather was completely worn out. I was extremely worried that they were ruined forever! When I got my shoes back, they were ALMOST new. He put on brand new heels (leather) and re-soled it. The cherry on top was he cut the sole so that the brand would still show, when originally he had stated it may cover up the lettering. Great customer service! Another time, I had a pair of suede boots (my favorite) where the heel was peeling. I had reached a new low when I started coloring it in with permanent marker. Yeah, I was that desperate, but these were my favorite pair! I took it into Silva and he fixed the heel with a new material that would not peel and still looked attractive with the style. Furthermore, he cleaned the suede so it looked new again! The before and after of the shoes/boots I bring into Silva are pretty remarkable. Always happy, always five stars! read more

SILVA'S! Took a pair of Jonhnston & Murphy Deerfield Tassel loafers in to be resoled. Goodyear welt and heels were on the shoes when I purchased them, so I wanted that again. The gentleman said that he didn't like using that and said that he had something better. Picked them up this morning (took 2 days) and MAN! Whew! These shoes look GOOOD! And guess what - the heel is Neolite, but it's in the family of Goodyear! So, he ended up giving me what I wanted ANYWAY :) Thanks Silva's for bringing my shoes back to life! Pricey, but I'm willing to pay for quality. read more

Unfortunately, I've found myself in a tight, scramblin' a few times b/c I've screwed up my shoes and I've had to make a mad dash here and get the tips of my heels fixed. The guy here always does a pretty good job, but you gotta speak up in order to get what you want....The sign on the wall says that he'll fix your heels in 5 minutes while you wait, but if you if you don't specify that you need your shoes NOW, he'll almost always tell you to come back in a couple of days. He charges $15 per pair of shoes, but 9 times outta 10 my heels don't always need to be repaired in pairs and he acts as if he can't split that $15 in half and just do one shoe.... so, there are pros & cons to coming here. Overall, I've been pretty pleased w/the service, but not necessarily his pricing. read more

CRAZY! After I paid $80 got the leather heels service, my Italian heels were ruined by this man and I was yelled at. I was told I lied about one of my heels being bent when he obviously took on the task bc they weren't bent from the beginning. I couldn't stand in one side of my favorite shoes. So sad :( read more

I brought in 2 pairs of shoes to be shined, and reheeled. One was a pair of everyday semi-casual cole haan leather boots which I wear all the time (even in the rain occasionally), and the other pair was a very expensive set of brown dress shoes from Brooks Brothers. I needed it done within 24 hours and that wasn't a problem. I wish I could post a before and after shot - my shoes looked incredible. Next time I go i will post a before and after.. Only reason it isn't 5 star is because it was a little pricier than I had hoped for, but then again I didn't mind paying for quality. read more

My 14" Frye boots needed suitable soles and heels for motorcycling. Silva's put Vibram oil-resistant soles and heels on them in less than a week, and for a reasonable price. They also polished the boots. Their work is first-rate and fairly priced. The shop is a neighborhood gem! read more

LIFE SAVER! I have some designer shoes as a gift, that were too narrow for my wide foot. I took them to Silva Shoe Repair and not only did he widen the shoe perfectly, was also able to shorten the heel a little bit so I could dance all night with them. Very happy Customer! read more

The repairs are not bad. However, be cautious of the pricing. Depending on how you present yourself or the type of shoes you bring in, the pricing fluctuates. I had rubber soles added to a pair of nice leather shoes one week...the price was $35. The following week I brought in another pair, same shoe maker, for the same exact service ...I was quoted $45. I pressed the owner stating I had the same service the week before for $10 less...he then adjusted the price. I'm done. No more business from me. read more

This is one of those times when I wish 0 stars was possible for a rating. I had a bag's strap break off and, since I don't have any tools to fix leather, went here (because of the good reviews) to see if they would repair it. They said they could, had me pay a ridiculous amount of money for it (which I accepted because of the convenience), and then when I picked it up...it broke again within about twenty minutes of use. The fix that was needed was literally something I could have done on my own, and I'm not particularly crafty. They also used white thread when everything else on the bag has black thread--I have a hard time believing they don't have black thread. I had asked for one other thing (for them to reinforce the opposite side of the strap), but they didn't even pretend to do that. I took it somewhere else, paid about $30 less, and had it done right. They had other bags over where they were keeping mine, so I wasn't somehow the first person to ever ask them to fix bags. They just did a really, really, really awful, half-a'd job. read more

I've used this place a few times, it's not the same as the first time. They will quote you one price one day and a higher price the next. The last time I went here was my last, they put a rubber boot heel on my dress loafers. I can't wear them or walk in them, as the heel is too high. If that wasn't enough, the glue came apart after a week. Don't waste your money here. read more

Brought in a pair of shoes that had been stained by a mysterious liquid (one of those Damp Rid closet fresheners that draws moisture from the air sprung a leak). Quoted $15. Took 2 days. Came back to get them. To me they looked 100% better, though there was still a faint mark. They explained they did their best, polished them up nicely while I waited and charged me only half of the quote since they weren't perfect. Would come back. read more

My heels came back unwearable and now they are in the garbage can. When I went to pick up my wedges (the heel needed glue), there was glue all over the shoe. I told them that was unacceptable and that they needed to fix all of the visible glue surrounding the heel. Came back the next day to pickup and the leather was scratched off the heels in chunks. Not only did I have to come back twice but now I've lost a pair of shoes. Not worth the gamble. read more

The workmanship was acceptable, at best. But service was extremely poor. I walk in. No one greets me. I pick up my shoes to leave. There were three of them. No one says 'Thank you' or 'Good night.' I've gotten better customer service from 7-11 next door. read more

I wanted something polished in 15 minutes as I had a formal event to go to. I had a short break in between meetings. I called ahead of time and they assured me they'd get it done. I got rubber heels replaced as well as a beautiful polish. In record time. Parking is kind of difficult. But this service was great. read more

The prices are reasonable. You can tell that he really likes working on shoes. He won't suggest unnecessary services. He will also tell you the truth if your shoes are a lost cause. I've gone to him several times and I have never been disappointed with the quality of his work. read more

Avoid this place! They make keys and do a horrible job. I paid for a key to be made here and it didn't work, when I went back to the shop to tell them the attendant was rude and told me it was my fault the key didn't work. Save the couple of dollars and go somewhere else. I will not trust them with anything. read more

Avoid this place. I spent $48 on getting rubber soles and large heel tips replaced for a single pair of shoes. I would have been much happier about having to pay so much if the results were perfect. Unfortunately, my shoes came back with really conspicuous marks on the sole and metal tacks visible in the heel tips. read more

Great service, although it is rather expensive at $15/ pair for re-heeling. I brought in 3 pairs of pumps with the heel tips missing and the hardware completely worn down; when I picked them up the next day you couldn't tell that the tips weren't the originals; all three pairs were also buffed/blacked/shined. On their door they also advertise 5 minute heel repair. read more

My dog decided to eat a pair of leather shoes I had only worn once. The toe on one shoe was destroyed and I was about to throw them out but on impulse decided to bring them in. The results were amazing! It was pretty unbelievable how good of a job he did. For $35, I was saved from having to go out and buy a brand new pair od shoes. I would definitly recommend! read more

I was highly disappointed by the lack of work done my another Silver Spring shoe repair business and took the same shoes directly to Silva's. My shoes look beautiful now. Polished and new heels. The other shoe business had said he couldn't polish because of shoe design....obviously not so. I will be returning to Silva's....only bad thing is parking is tough. read more

I just visited this afternoon to repair torn leather on the toe of my boot. The gentleman was able to fix it while I waited and charged me $5. Very reasonable and quick. I appreciate this level of service and highly recommend them. read more

Excellent quality work on a pair of boots I needed to re-heel, re-sole and polish. Reasonable price of $65 total. Helpful customer service, answered all my questions about what I could expect and what the process would be, and quick turnaround time of 3 days. Will definitely come back. read more

Brought in a pair of Frye Melissa Button boots that I needed widened. After getting them stretched at another cobbler, I brought them here to see if a gusset could be put in. Brought the shoes in on Thursday and they were ready by Tuesday. The boots looked awesome. I thought he would just use an elastic gusset, but he added matching leather so it looked so much better than I thought it would. He also stretched the boots incase I needed a little more room. He speaks mostly Spanish but we had no problem communicating. His daughters work in the shop too and are always very sweet. Best part? It only cost me $45! He also told me if I needed them stretched more, to come in again at no extra cost. I was super nervous about taking $350 boots there but I was super impressed. Would definitely go back again when I need another cobbler. read more

They do excellent work!!! I take all my shoes and boots to this Silva's. They are honest and hardworking people. Never ever had a problem. read more

This place is the best it can be! One of the best shoe Repairs ever! I have nothing bad to say about George's shoe Repair (silva). The man and his family are very lovely and amazing people. They are people who have sacrificed herself to get to the piston therein. With an owned business. I honor them and respect them dearly. Everytime I get there they greet me very nicely. The guy is a very lovely man so is his wife and kids as well. It's amazing to see how they all work together to make a whole business work. They do an amazing job on everything they do. Another thing is when I went to get a key made it didn't work the first time I went back to the Shoe Repair to go get another one. They kindly made me another one and that time it worked. But they said if that time if it wouldn't have worked they would have just gave me my money back , I was okay with it because after if they made me two keys and they both didn't work it was probably because my key had a problem. I would have understood and still would have kept going back to the store. There prices are pretty high but all the money is worth it to see at the end how it all turns out! I highly recommend this place if your want respect, and to have an amazing job done. read more
