"Boots were made for walking" in Lisbon in my repaired boots
Louise S.

Time was running out before my vacation started and both pairs of my walking boots needed repairs. I was quoted a week turnaround time from two places and one cobler even had the nerve to insinuate that my boots couldn't be fixed and weren't leather. I was desperate when I called DC Shoe Repair and it was well into the evening. Suprisingly I got someone on the line and they were super helpful. I sent pictures and was able to drop the boots off like thirty minutes later. They promised a two day turnaround, but both pairs were ready the very next day! The service was ultra convenient, fast, and professional. I couldn't have asked for more. Ooh and the quality of the work was great. I basically had a hole close to the sole on one of the boots. I dont know how they did it but was fixed when I got them back. I walked all over Barcelona and Lisbon in them with no issue. I'll definitely be using them again

After of boot heel repair

My favorite boots that I had bought from Nordstroms that are discontinued were saved! They were picked up on Thursday and back the next day. The heels were completely scraped off from wear. Thank you sooo much for your expertise and service during the tough covid times.

Before

Jung and his entire team were amazing! I paid to have these boots refinished last year for the effects to only last a few months. DC Shoe Repair was upfront with what they could accomplish and what they felt I should do. They were honest regarding which parts of the boots to keep original and which to refinish, which I really appreciated. They valued the the shoe's originality and value and my needs more than the money in their pockets. Customer Service couldn't have been better and the prices are more than reasonable. Huge shout out to DC Shoe Repair! You don't realize the emotional value these boots have to me, so keeping them in good condition means so much. Thank you all!

This place made my heels look like new. I only needed the heel tap and they buffed my shoes as part of their service.

Unfortunately, this experience raised a serious customer service concern. When I dropped off my shoes, I specifically asked how long the repairs would take. Both the gentleman working at the front desk and Pete told me they would be ready in one week. After eight days, I called because I was leaving town and needed the shoes for my trip. I was then told that the standard turnaround time was actually one and a half to two weeks. Had I been quoted that timeframe when I dropped them off, I would not have left the shoes because I knew I needed them before my trip. When I returned to town, I stopped by the store to pick them up. The gentleman at the front desk immediately asked whether I was the person who had called. When I confirmed that I was, he responded, "Well, your shoes were ready last week." His tone was unnecessary and dismissive. I explained that the shoes were supposed to be ready by Wednesday, based on the timeframe I was originally given, and that I had been out of town since Thursday. There are several cobblers who repair high-end and designer shoes. I have continued choosing Pete, not because he is the least expensive, but because he consistently does excellent work. I am happy with the repairs to both pairs of shoes, but the quality of the customer service at the front desk does not reflect the quality of Pete's craftsmanship. I have referred several friends to Pete for repairs to their designer shoes and bags because I trusted both his work and the service I had previously received. Unfortunately, based solely on this interaction with the front-desk employee, I am now apprehensive about returning and will likely need to look elsewhere for future repairs. That is genuinely disappointing after years of being a satisfied customer.

I asked if there was any chance I could have the boot repaired by today since I don't know much about shoe repair, and instead of simply answering my question, the employee laughed in my face and made me feel belittled. After leaving, I went to the shoe repair shop located directly below JC Tailors. The owner was incredibly kind, charged me half the price I was quoted here, and was able to repair my boot the same day. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this business. Customer service goes a long way, and no one should leave feeling disrespected for asking a simple question.

Short story: Leon's communication is abysmal, and the quality of work is even worse. I dropped my…read moreshoes off on 10/9 for a repair and didn't get them back until 11/8. I took a pair of boots on 10/9 to Leon that needed repair after my dog got to them. He came highly recommended from a trusted friend. He required payment up front, which usually I won't do as a first-time customer, but made an exception since he seemed like a good guy and my friend had excellent work done here. He promised an estimate within a few days. I waited a week before getting in touch by text, and got a very hostile response. We later talked on the phone and apparently he thought I was trying to scam him because his information has been "hacked", even though we'd already communicated in the same text thread. We cleared the air and he apologized for the misunderstanding. He got me an estimate 5 days later (for those keeping track it's now 10/21), and I went to the store immediately to pay. He took my money and promised they'd be done by the end of the month. He's just one guy, after all! Can't fault him for taking his time, especially if the work is good. I got in touch on 10/31 and he said he needed another week. I got in touch a week later and he says he's still not done, but says I can come by the store at 8pm that night to pick up. This doesn't work with my schedule, which is fine. That's on me. So today, 11/8, rolls around and I ask about when I can pick up. He texts to "come by 3pm", which means "come before 3pm". A typo, i realize in retrospect, and so when I showed up at 1:30 expecting him to be there I was surprised that the shop as closed. I called and was met with a stream of profanity about how he had told me to come AT 3pm. We bickered for a bit, I'm frustrated, and so I come at 3 to find him just starting the work on my boots. The resulting work is really bad. The patch leather is cut poorly and messily, the thread isn't properly sewn in, and there is glue all around the perimeter of the patch on the boots themselves. A cherry on top: when I was trying to leave the store, which is quite cluttered and small, I tripped over some detritus, and he laughed at me and then texted me "up yours" as I was getting to my car.

Then SNOWMAGEDON happened! Mind you... I took my repair to this particular shop from a personal friends' review.... So today ( Feb 2,2026) I drove down to pick up my shoes..... The owner looked at me with confusion as I handed him my repair ticket. I described my shoes to a T...5 inch stilettos with a wide crisscross strap. Still confused face. I literally watched this man walk over to a pile of shoes and rummage through pairs and pairs of shoes to eventually find mine on the bottom of the pile.... Dusty and half stripped . So I knew work had started on them bc I did not drop them off in the condition I took them back in. I inquired as to why they were not finished and he said " it's been busy, then snow". I also asked why he did not tell me he had not finished them when I called ( and I gave him the tix number on the 10th of January). He shrugged his shoulders. At this point.... ZERO APOLOGY! ZERO offer to complete the repair at a 25% discount.... I did not ask him for one. He said... and I quote..." you said take your time".... In my mind and most other customers minds.... Take your time means in a reasonable time..... HE gave me the date of completion for Dec 27.... Again.... Shoulder shrugs! How does someone run a business like this? Lack of respect for my shoes ( found on the floor) lack of honoring the delivery date with ZERO APOLOGIES. Then have the audacity to place blame on THE CUSTOMER for not having the repair FINISHED because I stated take your time! SOMEONE MAKE THIS MAKE SENSE TO ME!!!! I called my friend who highly recommended MASTER REPAIR SHOP in Rockville Maryland to me and let him know how my repair project was treated. He was beyond shocked. Many apologies from my friend but not ONE from the OWNER! Please avoid this shit hole ( physically a nasty mess... where my shoes were found on the floor) AT ALL COSTS!!! The owner is CLUELESS on how to provide great customer service. It was HEINOUS AND DEPLORABLE AT BEST! With the damage done to my shoes ( because he started my project) the price to fix them at another shop up the road was 50 dollars MORE... at $150.00! That's double the cost of the shoes when I bought them. When the owner said he would fix them in the next MONTH ( I have a late Winter wedding to attend and wanted to wear the shoes in question) I nearly lost my mind! I stared at him with such disappointment .... He then said... and I quote..." You didn't pay YET, so here" and held out my shoes to take. I took them and as I left I told him what I thought of his shitty customer service in Italian, Spanish and English! I'm sure he understood ONE of the three languages I speak! Master Repair Shop in Rockville, Md is a horrible place to have your shoes repaired. The customer service is beyond repair itself and I will NEVER EVER allow this shop to work on any of my shoes if I'm in need of repairs. It should NOT TAKE over 7 weeks to repair something this simple as my repair needs..... in his words! A complete disaster and I give Master Repair Shop in Rockville, Md a negative 10.... -10 !!!! Zero stars!!!! Had to put one star rating other wise it would not allow me to post! But still.... ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! A total shit hole! Kathryn L

July 9, 2026 I hate leaving bad reviews so much that I…read moreactually go back and delete them at later dates to not jeopardize anyone's livelihood or reputation, but this one will, hopefully, be immortalized. The first thing you need to know is that this establishment does not have a standardized list of services or prices anywhere online or in their shop. I first went to them on June 22 to have five dresses dry cleaned (quoted $79.45), one blazer dry cleaned and shortened (quoted $52.95), and one dress' zipper repaired as well as have it dry cleaned (quoted $52.99 or $29.99 depending on if the existing zipper was salvageable or needed to be replaced). The prices seemed a bit steep to me, so I told the woman at the desk, Eden, that I would shop around for a cleaner and maybe return. I decided that paying for convenience was worth it and returned on July 8 due to Barr's close proximity to my workplace. This time, I dropped off two dresses for dry cleaning/stain removal (paid $29.98), one dress to just have the zipper repaired (paid $28), and two blazers to just have shortened (paid $50 each). When I got to work, I realized that I was paying almost the exact same amount to simply have a blazer altered that I was quoted for an alteration AND dry cleaning a couple of weeks ago. I called to inquire about this and was given the runaround. A man who I suppose is the manager initially said that he did not know why the pricing was what it was then told me that it was perhaps due to some promotion going on. I asked how much the promotion was to result in the pricing nearly being equivalent, and he said 10% which still doesn't make sense. I told him so, then, presumably due to being tired of speaking with me, he told me that I could come pick up my items and receive a refund which worked perfectly fine with me. While picking up my items, Eden told me that the refund had to be processed through an accountant and that the man I spoke to before was not in at the moment to discuss things further. After getting in contact with him, he told me that the refund had been initiated and to text them my email address to receive proof of this via email. As of the afternoon of July 9, I have still not received an actual refund, confirmation of a refund, or any specific timeline for the processing of my refund. I called Barr this morning after they ignored my texts and got an AI assistant for the first time since trying to resolve this matter, so it seems I'll just be disputing these charges with my bank. These business practices are egregious, and I can only imagine how many others have been charged on a whim but did not realize and thus could not rectify matters. I cannot recommend Barr Cleaners any less. UPDATE (July 10, 2026): Barr Cleaners said they issued a refund this morning and requested my email to send me a refund receipt. I will update this review a final time when I receive the receipt. UPDATE (July 10, 2026): I received confirmation of a refund via email this afternoon. I'm glad to have this matter finally resolved, but my original rating still stands.

I honestly feel very disappointed with the work done on my belt. As you can see from the pictures,…read morethis is how my belt looks after the "reconditioning" service. Really? I paid $60 and waited approximately one week, only to receive my belt back looking almost exactly the same as when I dropped it off. When I brought the belt to the shop, I specifically explained that I wanted the **color of the leather to be evened out** and the leather properly reconditioned. The man assured me that he understood what I wanted and that he would take care of it. However, when I picked it up, the color was still uneven, and I could barely see any difference in the condition or appearance of the leather. This is not an ordinary $100 belt. It is a collectible belt worth more than $1,000, which is exactly why I was willing to pay $60 for professional restoration and trusted your shop with it. When I picked it up, I was told that the belt might not look different but they had applied a water repellent spray. I paid for the belt to be reconditioned and improved in appearance, not simply sprayed with water repellent. I can purchase a similar spray for around $10 at Walmart and apply it myself at home. I feel that I did not receive the service I paid for. If the shop could not even out the leather color or achieve the result I requested, I believe I should have been told that before the work was performed. I am very disappointed and honestly feel like I was scammed out of $60. I expected professional workmanship. Edited Note: I will not bring the belt back to the shop or waste another week waiting for additional work. Quite honestly, this workmanship is a shame and extremely disappointing and to whoever responded to my review, if you come back to read this, please tell me what you think--how does it look to you? When you said you tried to do your best.. Ps. The scratches on leather was not there when I dropped it off but appears after work done.
