I have used this dry cleaner a number of times and there hasn't been a stain they haven't been able to remove. They used to be my regular dry cleaner when I worked nearby. While I have changed jobs, they are still where I go when my regular place just can't get the job done. Just today they were able to get old tomato sauce stains off of a white suit jacket I hadn't worn in years. I don't think they're absurdly pricey, given their location and skill, but I guess that's going to depend on the person. read more

Very annoying - they snapped my heels in half while replacing the caps, but refused to fix what they broke! I went in to get the caps on my high heels replaced, and the older lady took on the job while I waited. As she was doing so, she actually managed to break one of the heels in half! (They came out to me and admitted this, because with this breakage, it would take another 15 minutes to fix, which I was fine with.) But then the next day when I wore them, the other one also snapped in half, in the same place as the other one. But they refused to fix it, even they had clearly snapped while the caps were being replaced! So stay well aware from this place, because the older lady clearly has no idea what she is doing. **UPDATE** Filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (with which this business is not registered). BBB gave Cobblers and Cleaners a MONTH to respond, but they never did. I had six pairs of shoes that needed heel replacement. I decided to go to Cobblers & Cleaners since they are only 2 blocks from my office. When I went to pick up my shoes the following day, they couldn't find them. They kept asking if random shoes where mine. Finally after about five minutes they asked me to come behind the partition and help them find them. I was mortified!! They had shoes thrown about, in no sort of orderly manner. It was pure and utter chaos and they had my PRADA pumps lying on the floor!! They are absolutely the worse. I wouldn't take slippers to this place. read more

I used them for a while, and then moved to another area. I looked far and wide - must have tried a half dozen or more cleaners in the NOVA area. My shirts would get shoddily done only to have to quarrel with the desk staff or owner who claimed I was being too picky. One place (in the Equinox gym near the Ritz downtown) even did substantial damage to my cuffs and collars. Simply put, this is the ONLY place that I have found in the DC area with consistently amazing quality. On the rare occasion when a shirt needs a redo, they simply do it without debate and discussion. It is family operated and they treat you with respect. There is no other place that I will take my shirts - even if I have to drive out of the way and fight parking. read more

Went in to get my boots new heels and they did it in 10 minutes while I waited and were super friendly! I initially took it down the street to a place on 12th and G street and the guy went on and on about how much time it would take to fix and he had to drill the heel and it would cost me $20. Cobblers did it for $12 and fast. Will be going back to take my other boots. Definitely recommend them :) read more

The quality of the dry cleaning and tailoring is good, when it is performed. I had three dresses tailored (scuba material lined with silk, 1 with ribbing down the sides, 1 with a zipper -- not easy tailoring, and the price tag reflected that). While 2 were tailored perfectly, they just didn't even touch one of the dresses. I paid almost $40 for each dress. I didn't realize that it hadn't been altered until I put it on to wear to an event. I compared it to the other two dresses that they tailored where it is evident where the tailor took out fabric to take in the waist and re-sewed the lining -- and nothing. I'm going to go back this week and speak to the manager. It's conveniently located, but I unfortunately don't think I will be going back. read more

I love this place! Everyone is super friendly and seems to care about providing good service. Even though I only went once every month or so, they remember me and greet me by name whenever I come in. I have only used them for alterations, the first time in January 2009 and more recently a few months ago. The seamstress is wonderful, works meticulously and quickly, and best of all, honest about what she can do. First, I brought in a floor length evening gown with a mini train that needed to be hemmed a few days before the inauguration. Not surprisingly, I was not the only person getting an alteration. There was a lot of communication as she pinned my dress, and I am pleased with her work. Also, they pressed the dress for me after the alteration; again, no complaints. I then brought in a suit jacket and a corduroy blazer. The suit jacket needed to have the arms shortened, and along with that, a line of buttons near the wrist moved up. Recognizing that people are asymmetrical, she measure the length from a bone in my wrist and explained why. The jacket now fits perfectly. As for the blazer, which was admittedly a size large, the seamstress told me that she'd basically have to make a whole new jacket for it to fit me. I'm grateful she told me what I had already suspected. I've never used the cobbler or dry cleaning services. Maybe they are as crummy as Sara S. says. I do know that they advertise the dry cleaning chemicals as organic. read more

I work nearby, and am really glad this place is just across the street. I have used cobblers and cleaners for laundry (dress shirts) and alterations for men's pants and jackets. Quality - The quality of the product and service are both excellent. Never had a problem or issue with anything. Cost - Given the location, the cost is very reasonable. I get shirts cleaned for $1.90 per shirt. Alterations run a little on the expensive side (pant leg hemming is 10-15, jacket sleeve was 25) but very well done and timely. Speed - turnaround time is very fast and they'll work with you if you need something quickly. Service - the best. They remember everyone's name and preferences, and help me determine the right size and alterations needed. Overall, highly recommended. read more

I took a silk BEAUTIFUL blouse that I only wore twice, gave them SPECIFIC instructions on how to do it, and they LITERALLY RUINED it. Not only that but the person wouldn't care that HER cleaners did that but told me I should bring her a receipt of it in order for her to "see it" and also that it is "wearable and clean" although it is suppose to be wrinkled instead of ironed why starch! When I got to see it carefully after I left, I even discovered some yellow marks as if they kind of burnt the silk in the attempt of iron in it!!!! What do I get as a lesson after $70.00 blouse, wore twice and a CARELESS business owner? NEVER take ANYTHING again to that place! read more

Both the cobblers and the cleaners had no idea what they were doing. Took my husband's new Gucci shoes to be re-soled w/heal taps -they did an extremely poor job.He hadn't even wore them and they came back with scratches on the leather, and wrong color black shine on the top (which they had tried to wipe off)...essentially they ruined 600 dollar shoes. He has a suit that has a collar than needs to be pressed in the back (it's thin, so sometimes underneath will show) -asked them specifically to make sure they pressed it correctly. They assured me they would take care of it. I picked it up, and when he went to wear it, found it was actually worse than before. So I took it back and told them to fix it -and WITH OUT permission, actually altered the collar to give it more fabric. When he put it on, as most people who handle expensive suits know, by pulling up fabric from the top, it completely broke the suit and left the tail hanging curled up! I took it back, and of course they completely denied having anything to do with that and were "shocked" the suit fit that way...saying it must be from something else. Also, white dress shirt came back from the cleaner with a black mark on the sleeve. If you like your clothes and shoes, and want them taken care of, please avoid this place. They get one star simply because I can't give zero stars! I wish I would have read the review by Sara S. before taking in my Louboutins. She is totally right, the cobblers here have absolutely no idea what they are doing. All I needed was the heel tap and soles replaced. Sound relatively routine, right? Wrong!! When I picked up my shoes I thought I was hallucinating. They could not have possible thought it was OK to return my shoes in such terrible condition; specially when they were pretty well kept. There was glue and paint everywhere, the heel taps had been replaced with a cheaper version and not the ones I had brought in, the patent leather was scrunched up at the heel, the soles looked liked they had been glued on by a four year old and they were poorly cut and attached. It was awful! When I pointed out all of the flaws he tried to tell me that was how the repairs are made and became very defensive. I asked for a refund because he seriously couldn't expect me to pay for such crappy work. So he went into the back and removed the soles and said "here". I saw that he had shaved down the soles to put on the rubber ones and even that looked sloppy. My response was "you're kidding, right?" I told him I wasn't going to pay and that I wanted him to make my shoes look somewhat similar to what they looked like when I brought them in. He argued with me and said he didn't "need my charity" told me to come back later. I was shocked! What kind of response is this? I picked them up later that day and there was still glue and paint on them and the soles still looked terrible. Not much of an improvement at all. My shoes were there for over a week and they did such terrible work and to top it off he had the nerve to argue with me when he clearly ruined my shoes. I'm not sure where they get off being so rude to the customer. If you value your shoes and expect quality work avoid this place at all cost! read more

Just started going here. thought they were friendly enough. They committed having my pants hemmed and ready by WED aft- By thursday morning they weren't. When i picked them up by friday, i asked if there would be a discount for the inconvenience they caused to me. The woman said "Why should there be? Many people don't pick up their clothes when they say they will, i don't charge them for their delay." Seriously?? I explained the only reason i left them with her was because i was guaranteed i'd get them back when i needed them (for a Thursday meeting). She said that's not a guarantee, they just do what they can and it's not her fault. I can understand unforeseen circumstances can cause delays, but what horrible service to refuse to rectify it with any type of conciliation, and instead rebuking your customers with indignation. Quick update--the patch on my pants I described in my review above was actually very well done. I'll admit that you can really see the seamstress's skill in the work she did, and the pants have been holding up very well.
