Shop is nestled in old town Yucaipa, quaint and charming, tucked away near the top of the main…read moreboulevard across from Arteagas Restaurant/Catering. Park in the front or around back, there's always a spot open! Fabric is high quality and colors are attractive! (Buy a little extra fabric with your cut because even though this is a small shop, fabric is desirable and may not be there when you return for more.) This is a novelty quilt shop, therefore prices are competitive.
Website states that if you can't spot the shop from your car widow, give'em a call and they'll come out and waive for you! I have never experienced such a gracious shop to welcome customers this way!
Shabby Rose is refreshingly reciprocal with other quilt shops in the area, kindly referring customers for sought after items if not available here! (If you're are searching for "super store" quantities, grab your coupons, pull a number and wait in line elsewhere because this is a specialty shop!)
While on business & travel, I seek out quilt shops and knitting shops as a reprieve from demanding high performance job/work environment. I noticed Shabby Rose Quilt Shop had moved to a new location, under new ownership (New Yucaipa Location). I was hopeful to find new ambiance! (And that I did!) Wonderful, warn, kind and polite, I felt like I was graced with the presence of long time friends! Employees, volunteers and even customers are welcoming and conversational. I have returned to this shop a number of times only to find my experiences to be consistently positive with each visit.
BUYER BEWARE...Yes! Beware of the down home comfortable, clean, and courteous atmosphere of this small town quilt shop. I felt the charm of southern hospitality here! You're as welcome as a long lost friend with kindness, smiles, humor, conversation and shared projects! With each visit, I have been invited by other customers to join groups and classes offered here!
For naysayers who find self empowerment (as nearly anonymous critics) on customer review websites such as this, there's plenty of room for you in the industrialized crafting "super stores" dominating consumerism with discounts, deals and coupons to appeal to your level of propriety. You'll be lucky to find any customer service at the "super store" for fabric/patterns/notions/measurements, with your coupons in hand! You'll find no expertise there! Will they even say "Hi" to you, not to mention a smile, craft wisdom, know-how or individualized assistance? Not likely! You're 'nearly anonymous' on Yelp! as a critic, you're sure to be totally anonymous in your "super store" as you wander alone!
What a privilege it is to still have local merchants who are members of our own community and willing to share their artisanship, talents, expertise, smiles, friendship, humor, and greet us at the door!
Thank you to small business owners and local entrepreneurs, to include Shabby Rose Quilt Shop, who are willing to be on the front lines of public critique yet tirelessly offering specialized merchandise & classes to promote the arts in our community.
Spoiler Alert...If we loose our local merchants (who as sole proprietors are taking on steep financial risk in entrepreneurial enterprise to offer specialty merchandise to perpetuate the arts), then we loose out on the expertise of our community artisan's sharing their craft, and we then give way to big business-super stores, mass production, poor quality, lack of customer service and diminishing free enterprise!
I know that not any one novelty shop can meet all of my crafting needs! Therefore, I don't discriminate...I'll shop anywhere!
Quilters, crafters, artisans and the like...I challenge you to savor the variety and personality each novelty shop offers wither it perfectly suits you or not....& support our local businesses for the overall good of our community!
Critics forge on! Your coupons await!
