The service was warm and friendly. The food was outstanding, utilizing fresh sourced produce and baked goods. The cafe was spotless, as was thd rest room. The decor is friendly and inviting. I will definitely be back!

My friend came another time and she has a vision problem and they refused to help her figure out what was in the menu. When I went in today, I sat at the counter and waited. There were three people congregated, talking. No one else at the register/ordering counter. Instead of greeting me, the guy waits several minutes at register waiting for them to approach him. Then he puts in their order and started clearing dishes off tables. Still no one has acknowledged my presence. Finally the chef turns around and I have my opening to ask for a menu, and he snaps at me"Go to the counter and look at the menu!" So rude! He then apologized for not seeing me but it was too little too late for me. I walked out immediately. I'm a grown ass woman. I'm not going to be barked at by some random dude on cocaine or whatever his problem is. Edit: hahaha! he immediately clapped back at my review. Very defensive. I worked in food service for YEARS and I never found it necessary to scold or argue with a customer. You might want to read Title III of the Americans with disabilities Act. It's a law that your menu has to be accessible to People with a vision impairments or you at least have to help them verbally know what u serve. You might want to ask yourself why you think it's okay to unleash your anger on women too. It's all women you try to humiliate, isn't it Brandon? If you're not careful one day a disabled woman you try to humiliate will file a discrimination report or ADA violation on you. Those are very very expensive Brandon. Maybe don't hate women so much?

The breakfasts and coffee are solid. The staff is helpful and courteous. I showed up for breakfast recently. I ordered the Chorizo. Two eggs, two chorizo sausages with pepper jack cheese and spicy mayo on a sandwich roll. It was as good as I remembered. I also enjoyed the coffee included in the $11.45 price. I took the meal upstairs where there's additional seating. I ate it while seated inside the picture window, which is a good place to the activity along Lark St. The eatery is as eclectic as ever. There are signs and artwork on the walls from different eras that don't go together. The place is old and perhaps a bit musty. Still this place had so much history with the area and its mismatched decor is a part of its charm. Change may be good. But in the case of the Daily Grind, I'm happy to still be able to get a delicious meal at a reasonable price from a nice staff after all of these years. Comfort food at its best.

It's no wonder why they are so popular and also one of the oldest cafes in Albany and still doing so well today! The cafe is a cute spot, with stool seating indoor and some tables outside. It's a bit unassuming but the bustle of the place definitely reflects how popular it is. They have so many options of sandwiches and to create your own and it is delicious!! The rolls were perfect and not tough at all, the sandwiches were so well done, I highly recommend the Lark street, the eggplant was so crispy and yum! They have fun specialty lattes and coffee as well. The girls working were welcoming and nice. While there was a bit of a wait, it's worth it and the do have an order ahead option too.

Looking for a romantic, candle lit spot with drinks for date night? Look no further…read more If you want a quaint spot for a glass of wine and a snack with friends, look no further. Lucas Confectionary has such a warm, inviting vibe all around. It may not be a one stop dinner spot, but it is an amazing pre-dinner stop for some drinks and appetite inducing snacks. With the extremely limited menu and offerings, you expect everything to be thoughtful and serve a purpose, and they deliver. For my drink, I ordered one of the red blends and it was very good for sipping along side a board of charcuterie and cheese My small group opted for the "pick three" option for a board. We ordered the manchego, smoked duck breast, and the pâté. It was a superb plate. The manchego was salty and funky, offered with dried apricots. The pate was rich and fatty, offered with whole grain mustard, pickled onions and cornichons. The smoked duck was offered with a blueberry-mustard compote. Also all accompanied with some nice fresh bread. Each flavor served a purposed and made for several tasty bites that piqued my interest. For a pre-dinner stop, I was very impressed. Also, sad to see this location absolutely empty on a Saturday evening. Lucas Confectioary is a perfect spot for an intimate date night, meeting friends, an after work drink, girls night, etc. Highly recommend a visit here!
