Disappointed that they had the flank steak crossed off the menu. However, while we were there having a beer, we chatted with one of the locals who happens to be a commercial fisherman. He doesn't supply Briny, but his next door neighbor does. He advised us to order a Mahi sandwich - which we didn't see on the menu. Said he knew that fish came in that morning. So, while I don't usually take advice from strangers in bars who may be slightly inebriated, I'm glad I did this time. This sandwich was AMAZING. Best fish sandwich I've ever had. The thing was nearly an inch thick! You can get it blackened or grilled. First time, I went blackened and it was a little too seasoned for me. It was so good, however, that we went back a few days later for another Mahi sandwich which I got grilled and liked even better. I've been away from Pompano for about a week now and I am still thinking about this damned fish sandwich! read more

Then we went to leave without ordering I might add due to the shit service she goes "why y'all leaving , I didn't have any attitude " wierd smell in the air, uncomfortable chairs, bad atmosphere. Established in the 1950's, Briny's Irish Pub is a historical landmark in Pompano and a local favorite. Go there enough and everyone will know your name, like Cheers - it's that kind of pub. We toss between the reuben sandwich or shepard's pie as being our favorite. Live Irish entertainment can be found there in the evenings on weekends. P.S. Cute dive bar right by the beach, great for a casual meal with friends (personally wouldn't recommend it for families with kids, definitely a louder bar atmosphere). Initially I was disappointed because I thought the location was right on the water (a building blocks the beach view), but I soon got over the feeling once I walked in. On the walls and ceiling were an eclectic display of fisherman gear, license plates, and pictures. It created a busy, yet homey feel to the environment. The service was wonderful and our waitress was very attentive and informative about the different dishes. I had ordered the gorgonzola salad with chicken, peaches, and raspberry vinaigrette and my friend order a giant burger that she had to eat with a knife and fork because of the size! Both were delicious. The waitress then convinced my friend to try the key lime pie (she had never had it before), which she really enjoyed. After a drink, meal, and dessert both our bills came out to about 25 dollars - definitely not bad! I would definitely go back. Tip? I went at an off-peak time, but I could definitely see this place being crowded on a weekend night or an amazing beach day. Be prepared for it so you don't get frustrated! read more

Even though I have been here several times before it had been a while and I brought my family that was visiting from out of state. We went out almost every meal when they were here so we got to try many places and they kept wanting to come back here. It is a very relaxed and laid-back environment the staff was wonderful the food was fantastic and the prices were right! Thank you!! read more

Have been going to the Briney since moving to Pompano Beach a year or so ago. Food is really good, try the Bangers and Mash, Fish and chips or the shepherds pie...pub food and really good. Bartenders here meet you and remember your name, it is like Cheers when you go in if you frequent it for a while, had drinks with the owner before...nicest guy ever. Look for good food, interesting people watching, great staff. Sarah is my favorite but all of them are great! Go have some pub food and a beer and have a great time at a great location. read more

After coming to pompano beach these past two months and passing Briny's each time we decided to try it. The place is very very welcoming and we were made to feel right at home. Our Irish waitress Goritza was lovely. I ordered the mahi which was fresh and succulent. My husband had the grilled chicken. My friend and I visited here earlier only to be surprised by live music which was very appearing. We both ordered the same item which was fish and chips. It was pure heaven at the first bite and tasted so good I wish I could eat it all in one bite. The french fries had a light crisp with a genuine potato taste. Next there was cole slaw. Say no more. The staff was very courteous and kept replenishing my drinks and all around it was a very good experience. I would definitely come again and recommend to others!! read more

Don't look for cloth napkins but great drinks, good food and great music (live and jukebox) at the Briny. Try the Mahi sandwich, the Chicken schnitzel sandwich and the burgers. Could use a dusting and a good cleaning but don't let that stop you. No reservations but parking in the back is a plus. read more

I went the other night with a friend of mine for the first time. Mike greeted us as soon as we walked in the door. All the staff was extremely welcoming and pleasant! We had a couple of beers a piece and left to check out the sunset for a few minutes since it's right on the beach. Mike held our seats for us. Struggling to stay open during the FL bar shut down. You have to order 1 food item per person but they let you order sides. That's NOT A LOT to ask when the are OPEN AND have live music. Best fried pickles EVER. The service was fine but not memorable. Location was great. We had the rueben and bacon cheeseburger. Both were fine. Nothing terrible. This was St Patrick's Day so bar was extremely busy. Bar tenders were doing their best to keep up with the crowd. Everyone was complaining how long it was taking to get drinks at the bar but we were talking to crowd around us that the bar tenders were doing their best. All night my husband and I were drinking the same drinks. He Yuengling and me Grey Goose and ginger. Many people were ordering from behind and around us. When bill came they charged us for a high noon. We told female bartender we did not order it. Easy enough to take off our bill. She adomently accused me of ordering it. Mind u all night my husband ordered all our drinks. We asked for manager. Just take the one drink off our bill. She refused. So we left no tip. My husband went to rest room and while he was gone she announced to whole bar we left her no tip. Then male bartender chimed in announcing to everyone. I ask him to come over so we could explain. He ignored me. My husband has no idea what they did while he was gone. I was so embarrassed as we are good tippers. I am a retired nurse and appreciate hard work! I am always aware of people's feelings. I would never do this to anyone! As we left other customers came up to us to relay they saw what happened and they had also been treated rudely. As a nurse I have never treated others this way! Such a shame as we love this establishment. read more

Probably the best cheeseburger I've ever had in the Ft Lauderdale area. The fries are incredible as well. Great service and very reasonable prices. If you're going to Dennys or Applebee's, try here instead. It'll be the same price or cheaper and much better food. read more

If i could give it a 0, i would. I went with my friends ranging from 21-25 and she got pissed when she asked for our ID's and we gave her 4 IDs. Apparently the idiotic blonde old lady with the black roots couldn't read 4 IDs at once so she had another person come over and try to read them and said we couldn't be served. She bent 3/4 out of our IDs because she's jealous she isn't young lol. Then the the huge bouncer came over and cursed us out and kicked us out. read more

This pub has so much potential. It is a great bar relic in S. Florida where the average bars here feel like they are about 5-15 years old. However, there is one huge draw back and I am not sure if it has to do with age, or water damage. THERE IS A SMELL, when you first enter and it lasts, I hope this can be corrected, cleaned, fabrezed, and glade plugined, carpet cleaned whatever they need, as I'd like to return, since I am a new local. My daughter selected this bar for her pregame birthday dinner.The place was packed, only the staff had masks on. The server didn't put the appetizers in timely so a table that came in 20 min after ours, got their food before us. There was zero diversity, which I felt was odd for such a prime location. Ultimately, we ended up having to get our food to go because the wait was ridiculous. the waitress was gracious and discounted our food. However, the whole experience set a rocky tone to the birthday festivities. The food is typical bar food, nothing particularly special about it. If you don't care about Covid, have an abundance of time, and just want a ' cheers' type of bar experience, this is your spot. if you are pressed for time, or are a foodie, this is not your spot. read more
