This company's customer service is a joke. We had them reline our main sewer line last year and continue to have clogging/backup issues. We have had to call them to come out multiple times now and have yet for them to fix the issue. When we contact them, they do not answer the phone (they claim they have a 24/7 emergency line but don't appear to actally have this), do not call us back or respond to our emails, and have made us wait almost a week for them to even come out to inspect the issue--even though by that time, the clog resolved itself. Also, they gave us a discount to give them a 5-star rating, so we did that at the time of our relining, but we are removing our review because of their inability to respond efficiently when dealing with issues with the system they installed. Unfortunately, we are stuck using them because, if we use anyone else, our warranty is void. read more

Called curaFlo HQ. Turns out. Brinks went out of business. Their "lifetime " warranty is worthless. All calls to their office now go to another plumbing company who doesn't honor the warranty. curaFlo is N expiry plumbing lining. Only warranty is 15 years. Over time the lining disintegrates and breaks off. We now have a water leak under our bedroom and hallway floors. Another company is doing repairs and diverting pipe over the ceiling. read more

I bought an older house and decided to get a sewer line video inspection to check the quality of the old cast iron pipes. The inspection confirmed the older pipes and found some slight root intrusion at the clay pipes, but it didn't seem like a deal killer to me. Cue some work a few weeks later, and upon excavating a small line repair we discovered that the old cast iron lines actually had no bottom to them. Pacific Drain was doing some work down the street so I had them take a look. One day and a couple of used car salesmen moments later and I had a quote for a $25,000 pipe reline. That night I hit the internet and ended up getting a couple of replies from a few other companies in the morning. One company came over and gave me a new quote for $15K. then I got a call from Bill Brink and he looked at my inspection video and said I could just get the old cast iron lines cleaned, and should reline the clay pipes. The quote was for $5600 and after some confirmations of the work and some assurances for the longer term usage of my pipes, I decided to pull the trigger. The work is 95% complete and the work is top notch. read more

They scoped my lines quickly, gave me pragmatic advice on how to handle the issue and confirmed the previous plumbers suggestion was outrageous. When I called Brinks back this year to complete the work of cleaning my sewer lines and remediating the leaks, they were able to schedule the work quickly and structure the project in a way that made sense based on discoveries made through their progress. We knew there were areas needing a liner to be installed, but started off with an abrasive clean to ensure we didn't do any unnecessary work. Unfortunately, the 60-year-old sewer main in my home had deteriorated in varying levels of severity throughout the home and to the city main. We ended up installing a liner through the entire system to ensure the problem was solved once and for all. Bill's team has been wonderful to work with from initial diagnosis, to scheduling and actually executing the work. I was never surprised by any of the work needed, or the cost, as thorough proposals and cost estimates were provided and explained at every stage. Yesterday morning, my family was in a state of severe anxiety praying for the slab leak and piping repairs required for our 46 year old home in Escondido. Brinks Services came out right away and saved the day! I neighbor in my condo complex had a plumber out to address their clogged drain. Instead of snaking the neighbor's drain the plumber busted into my unit and burst a pipe causing a major flood. My kitchen was drenched in filthy water and the broken pipe was causing more damage with every passing minute. The jerk plumber refused to come out and even look at the pipes. Brinks services to the rescue! Brinks had two techs on site quickly. The techs stopped the flooding straight away. They took extra care to document the issue, both in writing and with photos to assure an easy claim with my home owner's ins. It started when my neighbor did a water heater replacement and the installer broke the water regulator or something (not sure what broke). Then enter BRINKS PLUMBING to fix the issue. In the process, BRINKS did not set the water pressure to the right PSI and cause to drop water pressure on all houses (including my neighbors). I did not have any running water at all in my shower. I called my property manager to address the issue. The next day (Saturday) a guy from BRINKS Plumbing showed up and said, " are you the one who has problem with the water pressure?" I said "yes". He then ask me if he can come in and check it out, I said "yes". I showed him the bathroom a turn the shower on and he saw that there is no water at all. Brinks employee then said, "wait, let me go outside and I will be back to adjust the water pressure. Few minutes after he came back and check it again and saw that there is barely water coming out. He then proceeded to ask me "ARE YOU A HOMEOWNER OR A RENTER" ( I believe that is a key phrase for an upsell ), I said "I'm a Homeowner". After I said that, his face LIT UP and said very happily, 'OH! OH! I KNOW WHAT WRONG WITH IT, IT IS THE ACTUATOR INSIDE THE PIPE! BUT DO NOT WORRY, WE WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU! WE WILL FIX IT FOR YOU! I was like what?! " He then proceeded to give me a business card and said just look for ALEX or ED. He showed me my water pressure in the sink and said, " COME LOOK AT YOUR WATER PRESSURE IN THE SINK IT IS GOOD!" And I said, "Yes, water pressure in my sink is great but I do not take shower in the sink!, Can you adjust the water pressure to what it was?" He said "YES I WILL DO THAT RIGHT NOW!" He never came back and left my front door wide open! I called the company and complaint about what happened. BRINKS PLUMBING then said they will take care of it and will actually replace my shower cartridge for free! I said "GREAT". Two (2) weeks had pass and they are still looking for the part because according to BRINKS it is hard to find since it from an old house even though I told them where to find it (VALLEY INDUSTRIAL) in El Cajon or Chula Vista or San Marcos, I gave even gave them the exact price ( $65.47 plus tax) and attached a photo on the email and still told that it is still the wrong part!! I know for a FACT that that is the right part and I was just being sent out on a WILD GOOSE CHASE by saying they could not find the right part. PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY!! This job was a leak in a water main, with the line being under a long cement-slab driveway. They came out right away to assess the situation, and a few days later had a leak detection subcontractor attempt to source the leak. That done, it was several days to provide a pricey estimate. When I tried to get the quote broken down into parts, labor, and contingencies, I got nothing. What if the leak isn't where you think it is? 'All bets are off', he says. I went with them anyway because they had performed well on a much more expensive sewer job 2 years earlier. I would have been happier if they would have provided a per day rate or any other detail that would have helped me understand how they came up with the pricey estimate, and how much more the job would cost if the leak detection was not accurate. Also, the office called after I signed the contract with a request to put 10% down; that wasn't in the contract. read more

So I have waited over a year to write this review in the hope that I might calm down. The water pipes under our house broke 6 weeks after moving in. New to the area and dealing with a mess, we interviewed companies to help re-pipe the house. Brinks was the only one that said they could do the work quickly so we went with them. WHAT AN ENORMOUS mistake. The first "lead" plumber they sent literally freaked out several days into the project and started throwing things, screamed horrible obscenities at me and about his own company, then took off. Brinks sent a new lead, but honestly all of the work was not great and took forever! We are now just over a year past all of this and we had to hire another plumber to fix the mistakes made on the hot water heater, we still have scorch marks all over our walls in the garage where they soldered without protection and when I went to change the filter on the water filter I found out they hadn't even bothered to remove the plastic covering on the original filter. Angel came out to assess a leak that I had from my second story master bathroom to my kitchen below. I thought it may have been a leaking pipe, but Angel was able to determine that the leak actually came from the shower pan and not the pipes. He cut a minimal piece of drywall in the kitchen and showed me where he had found the leak. He recommended replacing the old shower pan and did not try to upsell me on a temporary fix. I appreciate the honesty and the detail of the work that he performed and I will definitely use Brinks again for future plumbing services. read more

When I called for service I was told that there was a $67 dispatch fee which would be credited to my invoice should I have them perform the services. When the plumber came out, he quoted me $249 and I accepted. My card was charged the $67 dispatch fee when he came to the house. The next day I was charged $249. I then called them up ... in the end they told me my total bill was $316 thereby my $67 was credited thus the additional charge of $249! I was deceived. Had I been told that this fix would cost $316 I would not have used them. .... an hour later they called me back; they said they will credit my account $67 and apologized for the misunderstanding. As such, I change my stars and will comment on the service: The tech was prompt and completed the service in no time. Except for the the above misunderstanding, I was very pleased with the service. read more

Brinks did what another company told me could not be done without ripping up and replacing all of the pipes; they unclogged the drain in my master bathroom. Richard ran a video camera through our closet flange (toilet pipe) and found heavy buildup. He said we did not have any cracks or roots inside the pipes so we did not have to immediately sleeve the pipe. For the same amount of money as the other company to just work on one bathroom, we can clean both of our bathroom pipes, the main pipe, and have a double sweep installed. Richard is hands down the nicest and most honest plumber I have ever met. Brinks should give him a raise because I will be calling them instead of the other company for pipe maintenance. The inspector arrived close to the end of the scheduled two-hour block, but he got straight to work. He inspected all of the plumbing lines and sewer lines that he could physically access, including those under the house. I had expressed a concern about high water bills in relation to the relatively little amount of water I use, so he specifically looked for leaks*, finding none. He also inspected my plumbing fixtures, paying specific attention to the kitchen faucet, which had poor water pressure. He checked it, and several other faucets, and then checked the overall house pressure, discovering that the water pressure being delivered to my home was half of what it should have been. He then proceeded to adjust the pressure regulator, restoring my house to a "normal" pressure of 65-70 psi. The other service he was to perform was a water heater flush, but he told me that my water heater was old enough (15+ years, maybe 20) that doing so might compromise its ability to hold water. He recommended that I replace it as soon as possible, which I have not yet done, but plan to do in the very near future. All in all, I had a very good experience with the Brinks inspector and would recommend the Big Deal ($49 for the above mentioned services) to any Angie's List member, whenever it comes up. read more

Undependable!! Do not use this company!! We called Brinks because our Homeowner's Association recommended them. They promised to call us in the morning and send someone out to look at our problem although they could not do the work that day. We were okay with that because we can go a few days without hot water and the leak is stopped as long as the hot water is turned off. This morning I waited for their call. Nothing. I waited until 1pm and still nothing. So I called them. I spoke to the receptionist first who connected me with the dispatcher named Peggy. Peggy told me that they did not have anyone to come out until the week after next!! This was not what we were told when we called last night. We were told they would look at it and they couldn't do the work today, but nothing was mentioned about a week and a half backlog of work. So we wasted a whole day waiting for Brinks -- and as far as I can tell, Brinks had no intention of calling us to tell us they would not be showing up today at all. This is unacceptable. My insurance agent arranged for people to come out last night but I cancelled believing that Brinks could do all the aspects of this repair as their website claims. Their website is totally misleading. It looks like it is a large company but it can't be that large. They had one leak detector that recently passed away (or so I am told). How many plumbers? I don't know but a week and a half back log for plumbing is serious. The lack of a leak detector should not have been a problem in my case since I have already hired a leak detector and have a report from him. We told Brinks this. That was not the problem. They don't have any plumbers available. My insurance agent was upset. Her companies were confused that we cancelled last night and now want them to come out. We believed Brinks was going to help us. They did not. Very upsetting. Time wasted. We still have cold water only. Horrible company. Horrible experience. read more

I referred my friend Julianne to Brinks plumbing because I knew they do camera service. They had a ridiculous quote from a plumber who I will not mention here but it was in the tune of $20,000. Bill came out and did the whole thing for $1000 bucks, repaired a small section of the pipe. The other plumber try to do the whole house when only 2 feet was needed to be replaced. It started as water dripping down the smoke pipe over range. Luckily we got Thomas Scott from Brinks Services to take care of this! A very skilled and professional plumbing engineer. Equipped with FLIR camera, he located the wet area of suspicion and opened up the dry wall to find out the pin hole in the L shape corner of the copper line supplying the cold water. Its so nice to know there are still people and businesses with integrity! I was hesitant to have Brinks out to do a leak detection because they charge for it, when other people claim they will come out for a free estimate. I mean why pay when you can get it for free? But I liked the most recent reviews and just got a real good feeling talking to Debbie about my situation. So I decided it was worth the flat rate for the first 1.5 hours and would kick them out if they required more time than that. Tom arrived about an hour after I called. He was cordial and very good at explaining what needed to be done, pin-pointed the problem and quoted us for a fix. We accepted and he went to work. The part they wouldn't want me to tell, is that Tom was wrong... the pin he pointed was not to problem, and thus, the problem persisted. This is where it would generally start to get sticky. He'd already done the work and put in the time and now he's back to square one with having to re-diagnose. Thankfully he did what many would not: he called for help. Lee arrived a few minutes later and together they spent the greater part of the day trying to unpick the mess that was my plumbing situation. Up until then, no one, least of all me, had the slightest idea how much of a mess it was nor any clue what would be required to fix it. Of course at this point I started getting very nervous as to what the bill was going to be... not one but two plumbers tinkering and testing for the better part of a day. At the end of it all, there was no quick fix. The system was too messed up, and they weren't going to be able to rig it as they'd hoped. They agreed they couldn't charge me for the fix that they weren't able to execute, so they just charged for a few hours work and wrote up some estimates for the bigger job at hand. Did they fix my problem? lol... well no. But I feel like had I chosen to work with a different company, my problems would have just got bigger. I really appreciate the level of effort and diligence they put into trying to find me a solution, and I really can't hold it against them that they weren't able to. They did however establish a level of trust that makes me very disinclined to go with another company for the large fix, despite my insurance companies urgings. UPDATE 1/12/16: They did indeed come back out, fix the problem, exactly as they promised they would and could at the price they quoted. I own a property rental in Mission Beach and leaks are a constant part of living there. I have been through many vendors in the past but Brinks is the best of my experiences so far. All costs were up front, the servicer arrived on time and told me everything they were doing. We had an unusual leak involving a jury-rigged drainage system that they were able to diagnose, something the other two I had out were unable to do. Lastly, they were kind and courteous and offered to come back and fix the problem on a Saturday, something they normally don't do. For some reason, the property management company in charge of the complex I live in, retains the services of this provider and each time, it's the same excuse--the water needed to be cut off because of an emergency. Although I can't prove this, but if I had to venture a guess, the emergency was due to their ineptitude. Nevertheless, it's always an emergency with these guys. On one occasion, they sent out a memo informing the residents that the water would be turned off on a Friday. Since I was off on Friday, I switched with another employee to work his Friday and he worked my Monday. Come Monday, in the middle of a shower, the water goes off. When I called, I was informed that they had an emergency elsewhere and couldn't get done what was needed on that Friday. Feel free to hire them if you're willing to let them put their needs in front of yours. In fairness and for what it's worth, I just received a call back from the office manager regarding my inquiry when the water was going to be turned back on. She sounded sincerely, so count that as you like. read more

This morning, as I was rushing out to work, I noticed my carpet was wet. I walked out into the garage to discover I had water coming out of the wall. I had to turn the water off to the house and get to work. How will I deal with this later? What will my family do all day without water? I called Brinks Services because the company had lined my water pipes about 10 years earlier to stop pipe leaks under the concrete floor-- and I thought there was some type of long-term warranty, but I could not find my paperwork. I called and explained my situation. I was told they would call back shortly. And they did. And it was the owner, Bill Brink. And he had the file of the work done in my home a decade ago, which described my plumbing repairs in great detail. He also explained what type of warranty I had and its terms. He then told me someone would be at my house in a couple of hours and the leak would be fixed today. And that someone, Brandon Castro, arrived as promised. He spent the time repair the leak and replace other pipe fittings in the leaky line. He fixed a corroded supply line on my water heater. His attitude was that it didn't make sense to fix the leak and leave other suspect parts in the line that would probably not last much longer. He not only fixed the leak today, but he prevented further leaks tomorrow. And then, even though the pipe leak was not directly part of the pipe relining warranty, even though he replaced other pipe parts, even though he fixed the water heater supply line, the company charged me only for the basic service call-- not for all the work that Brandon actually did. In a search for a drain pipe snake to use for my bathroom sink I saw an ad for Brinks. I went to buy a $20 snake and it didn't work. So of course I had to call the experts and these are professional experts. Patrick called to schedule the technician Kenny Shower. If I could give him 10 starts I would. He was prompt (even early), informed me of what he was planning on doing and possible outcomes. He went to work and within 30 minutes unclogged my sink. He also educated me on what to look for in the future, give insights about what he observed and overall he demonstrated the highest level of professionalism I've ever experienced.
