Steele Plumbing is incredible! I had a water leak in the main line halfway up my 100-yard concrete driveway, which climbs a steep hill to my house. It was a nightmare! The first plumber I called took one look at the situation, said "no way," and left. Then I called Steele Plumbing. Justin and Steve arrived at 8 AM the next morning. With some help from CPL, they quickly located the leak, even though the pipe was buried 5 feet deep. They carefully saw-cut the concrete to keep the edges neat, loaded the broken pieces onto their truck, and hauled them away. Tree roots. Ugh!!! I hadn't even moved into my home last year, I was doing some renovations beforehand when my contractor called and said we have a plumbing problem. Sure enough. The water kept backing up through the bottom floor shower drain. I was in panic mode. I was about to move in and I'm already having plumbing issues?!? I happened to call Steele Plumbing. Brett and Steve assured me they could arrive within the hour and they'd get it figured out. Sure enough, they pulled up ahead of schedule and immediately went to work. They snaked the line providing immediate and temporary relief. But then they ran a camera through and saw - tree roots! - noooo. Steele Plumbing just completed MAJOR repairs to my drainage system. My home was built in 1936 on a canyon in North Park. Much of the drainage system was original cast iron and was buried 7 feet underground. It was jammed with roots and deteriorating. Steve and Justin were extremely experienced and kind. They came out to my mothers house for a faucet that was leaking in a downstairs bathroom and charged $275 to fix it. Next day faucet is still leaking and they quoted the only way to fix it is to replace the faucet and quoted her $1200!!! Taking advantage of older women is disgusting!! I called Tues 1/21/2020 to schedule a plumber. I asked if they could come the next day, Wednesday, but they were unavailable since they were working on a church all day. I scheduled for Thursday morning from 8-9. I took time off of work on thurs and I called around 7:15 to confirm a plumber will be there. The lady I spoke to told me she never talked to me and neither did her assistant. She kept asking who I spoke to, and just because I didn't remember the name does not make it my fault they didn't have me in their books. 10 STARS! If I ever have any more plumbing problems (lord I hope not) I will always call Steele. We just moved into a new house and already spent $1,700 on plumbing by the time I called them. Guest toilet flooded into the hallway on a Monday night at 9:30pm. Turns out there was a block in the main. That was a 3 day ordeal. Trying to deal with one thing at a time, the Master toilet had been running since we moved in, that was on hold as it was a non-emergency. My dad suggested Floyd & Howerton, but turns out the company had been acquired by Steele when Mr. Howerton passed away. And I could not be happier I ended up with them! The boss man himself came over to deal with our toilet, a couple simple fixes. He also tightened up the seat and noticed the toilet had a very strange flap that is no longer made. He offered to dig around to try and find a new one, other wise next time there was a issue, it would mean a new toilet. Ugh. They followed up and of course my luck would have it, it's no longer made. (We'll deal with the fix next year as he says we have some time.) And before he left he inspected our water heater and the garbage disposal! Today boss man came over again to check out fireplace gas valve. All was good. I asked if he had to run, and he said no. So he also did the piping to convert our fireplace to wood burning, AND I asked about the reversed hot/cold in our master shower and he took care of that too! I have only dealt with the owner so far, but I would like to think his employees are all friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and kind....just like he is. I hope to not need them, but Steele is the only plumbing company I will call if we need a plumber. Price wise I think they are fair, though maybe a tad on the high side, but as the daughter of a father who was in the construction trades....I will pay for work knowing it is done right the first time. read more

I have the water pressure regulator replaced when I bought my house. And several weeks later, my tenant told me that water pressure regulator is leaking slowly, maybe 1 drop a day. The plumber came and said it was condensation. They did nothing and just charged me $95. Several days back, I covered the regulator with a ziploc bag. Today I see around 1 spoon of water in the bag! I spoke with Lori (spelling) who was professional, kind, and calmed me down. She told me that there would be a tech (correct word?) out to my house in about 1 hour. And guess what, he was there! Scott was simply amazing. He identified the issues and told me what he was going to do. At that time, my bathroom floor was about 1/8th in water. I looked for & discovered a bad leak at my water meter after a $831 water bill for just the three of us, no irrigation. The city would not come look at it for 6-8 weeks. So I Googled plumbers and found Steele. I called and Laurie the dispatcher told me it's $142 to dispatch, plus repairs. As a contractor myself, I understand why prices are what they are. It's to stay in business, it's to keep the doors open! Nobody's getting rich. That's just the way it is. She even offered to call the city as an emergency on our behalf. That proved to be a reason for the issue I had. So, on a Friday night, about 6:30 pm, two men from Steele Plumbing arrived at my door. I took them to the water meter out at the street. They agreed with me, the pipes are leaking on both sides of the meter. Not rocket science. They then told me that the union on the metered side was bad and that about two feet of pipe had to be replaced. My wife came outside. She actually asked if it was just a bad washer! They said no, not a washer problem, bad union. The quote was $750 to fix. She then asked if that was the best price they could offer as we'd just paid our mortgage and that maybe it should be fixed by the city. No negotiating. The price is $750! I asked if anything else could be done. NO. My wife asked if the city would fix it for free. "Don't know, don't think so. They might not even show up". We'd be without water if they began the job and the city showed up and put a halt to it. So we were pretty much without a choice. I told them to just fix it. They had to completely pull the cement hand-hole out of the ground. Then dig down around the leaking pipes. Mud was everywhere. They cut the pipe 2 feet out. Then the city lady arrives!! First thing she says to me (she thinks I'm one of them) "Why did you cut that pipe and why did you remove the hand hole?" Well, I didn't! They did. AND "All you had to do was REPLACE THE WASHER!" I was stunned. What? Then she realized I was the homeowner and immediately said "You don't look too happy right now". Ya think? I went inside before I said something I couldn't take back. She had also mentioned to my wife that the city would have fixed it for free. In the plumbers defense, I'd have to ask, when?? When would the city fix it for free? She was there only to access. So I paid them their $750 at 8:45 pm and got no sleep all night thinking I'd been had, and I'm a contractor myself. On Monday morning, Laurie called me at my office. She was very concerned about my wife & I. She told me that the owner wanted to meet with me at my house. On Tuesday at noon, I met with Tom Steele who explained some things to me regarding the city. He showed me a patch in the asphalt where the city had been digging, probably pulled the pipes apart at my meter. He told me that these city "doughnut shop employees" find it easy to make evaluations when they've never turned a wrench in their lives. He stood by his plumbers as a boss should. He did not toss them under the buss. He also admitted that maybe there were other options for his plumbers to consider. However, he took full responsibility for the situation. He gave me my $750 check back. He explained that Steele Plumbing is in this for the long haul, not grab what they can and run like hell, like some local contractors. I respect that. My experience with Steele Plumbing was not a happy one. They arrived on time and asked about the problems. They (there were 2 men that came) finished the work and I paid the fee (very expensive). One toilet kept cycling on and running a few seconds. When I called the office to ask that the plumber return and check it out and make an adjustment, I was told that the water pressure was too high and they wouldn't come back unless I had them install a new pressure regulator. Why it wasn't explained BEFORE doing any work that nothing was guaranteed unless a pressure regulator was installed, I don't know. For that matter, why didn't they at least try to adjust the pressure regulator that was in place. I was also told that the toilet kept cycling on because of the water pressure and that there was no adjustment that could be made. The woman on the phone was neither helpful nor courteous. I called another plumber who came out and made an adjustment and the problem was solved, WITHOUT having a new water pressure regulator installed. read more
