My attempts to cancel my contract with Brinks and ensure it is not renewed have been an absolute nightmare. I've submitted a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and since February have attempted calling Brinks dozens of times to cancel. I was told that I needed new equipment in order for my service to work properly. I was told that if it did not work properly I could cancel within 30 days and they would pick up the equipment, no questions asked. The company ended up sending me a letter saying as a gratuity and under good faith they would cancel out my standing balance. This was like in March or April. He said you have to call back and say you're moving. I said I was moving and they said well we can put this security system in your new place. I said no it's an apartment and it has security already. We originally started out with ADT as our security company. Great Company. A year into ADT services, we had a "gentleman" come impersonating an ADT employee I let him in and took him to the bill payer of the house. Turns out the is a Brinks salesman. He proceeds to tell the bill payer whatever she wanted to hear, cheaper easier to use, and all around better than ADT so we purchased their services and equipment. Was more expensive more confusing and nowhere near as advanced as ADT. Was a total bait and switch and when we tried to back out of the contract they said we'd have to pay $5000 dollars to get out of the contract. In January 2023, I was scammed by Brinks home security (Skyline). I was previously a satisfied ADT customer. Someone called me saying they were from ADT and needed to upgrade my system to a newer 5G system because mine was old. My phone's caller ID said "ADT" which is the only reason I answered the call. A man came to my house with an ADT badge with his picture on it. Once in my home, he said ADT was going out of business and was being taken over by Brinks security. He conned me into signing a new contract with Brinks with lies and false representation. It was a very long contract that he had me sign on an ipad that I could not read through. He said it was for the new upgraded panel. After, I was being charged through Brinks and ADT still. ADT informed me they didn't know who he was and that none of what he said was true. For the last 2 and a half years Brinks has refused to allow me to cancel my contract, stating I would be charged for a full 5 year contract regardless. The person who misrepresented themselves as ADT cut my ADT wires, took my previous 2 cameras from them, gave me one that he had on him and said they would be sending me another one. They have NEVER sent a second camera. This is a breach of their contract. My security system has not been functioning since May 13, 2025. They still have not sent a technician to fix it and said they cannot till September. However, they continue to charge me for a non functioning system. They will not cancel my service despite numerous requests. I have paid my balance in full and they still will not allow me to cancel even though I know I am no longer under contract. I attempted to call Brinks to cancel the service & was met with a combative representative that claims we have renewed our contract and are bound to it until 2028! They claim we not only renewed the contact once, but twice! We have no record of this in email or anywhere else. I just got off the phone with a combative Brinks representative named "Jerrisha" (who refused to give us her full name! ) supposedly based in Dallas. She claims that my 83 year old mother clicked something online (which she would never do!) which legally binds her to a contract for 3 years (in excess of $2500.00!) & that we must pay this immediately if we want to terminate the "service." The contract that we have onhand ended 2 years ago. It's unlikely my Mom clicked anything online, and I can't find any record of it. If this somehow happened, it was perpetrated in an underhanded and dishonest way and she was confused. Either way it's unethical. The service has been unreliable for 2 years (with emergency services being dispatched for no reason in the middle of the night multiple times). I had a suspicion we were working with a crooked company for quite some time now, but this latest interaction exceeds the disappointment I was expecting in ways that have my head spinning. We are speaking with our family attorney on how to pursue this since the representative from Brinks refused to clarify any dates or proof of the extension of the so-called contract. We are now receiving messages daily attempting to repair the defective system and / or insisting that we must pay $2500.00 to terminate the "contract" we have no record of. Even if a mistake did happen (unlikely) I don't believe a contract can be legally binding without terms, a verified signature, and a date. Both parties should have clear copies. I have had issues with this system for almost the entire time I had it. $$$$$ for no service and a system that has worked about 6 months combined out of the entire time I've had it. You can't reach any management ever, you only get scripted responses from customer care. They just want your money and provide no service. We have been attempting to have a Brinks Home Security system fully installed at our cabin and barn in Arkansas since October 2024, and after eight months of delays, broken promises, and poor communication, we are still without a completed installation. Timeline of Issues: October 2024 - first call placed to Brinks Home security to have security system installed on our Arkansas cabin and barn. November 2024 - first on-site visit and install in the barn. Wrong equipment was delivered for installation in the cabin. January 2025 - set appointment for install on the cabin April 8, 2025 - second on site visit. No equipment was delivered or on hand with the technician. Technician gave detailed information to Brinks about equipment that was needed, and another installation appointment would be required. April 10, 2025 - followed up with Brinks numerous times after not hearing back from them regarding the installation appointment. Order was not in the system for the cabin install and no notes could be found. April 2025 first complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau April 12, 2025 - was contacted by Ricky Ashley from the Brinks Executive Response Team in Dallas, Texas. He assured me that he would look into the matter and have somebody reach out to me immediately. April 14, 2025 - received a text from Bruce, Arkansas sales manager, at 6:15 PM asking if I was available. April 15, 2025 - called Bruce back first thing in the morning and told him I was available all day and gave him my cell number April 17, 2025 - never heard back from Bruce and called Ricky Ashley to inform him. April 18, 2025 - got a return call from Bruce. He had no information regarding the situation and had to inform him of our status and was told that he would look into it immediately. April 25, 2025 - sent an email to Ricky Ashley saying I'd had no follow up from Bruce. No response from Ricky. May 2, 2025 - called Ricky Ashley on the phone and told him that I have had no resolution through Bruce. He told me he would get right on it and get it resolved. May 7, 2025 - no word from Ricky so I called him. Spoke to him and he was again surprised. Requested a copy of my contracts to see what my options were for canceling all services. Heartless company about sums it up. My father died and at that time his bank accounts were closed. When I went to make payment to continue the service until the house could be sold they told me there was a $25 charge due to them attempting to take payment and being rejected. I called and explained situation and they refused to remove fee. While this is not a lot of money it's the principle. Really heartless of you brinks. No customer service or understanding at all. I don't know how they did it, but they got us roped into a FIVE-year contract a couple years ago, which was news to us when we called to cancel last week. I was interested in Brinks security service. They asked me If they could pull my credit an I said no. They replied that they only pulled a soft inquiry and it's wouldn't effect my credit. I received a letter in the mail today. My credit had 2 hard credits pulled on it by TransUnion and Equifax. I did give them permission to pull a soft credit report which they said wouldn't effect my credit at all. My credit went down a good bit! I called and asked them if they wanted to make it good and the manager said they were not able to. This is a lie because I worked in a Credit Union and I know that you can. Numerous calls regarding the the same technical issue I was having have gone unresolved with promises to have someone contact me to schedule a visit. No such event has happens. Brinks is a terrible security system. It is significantly overpriced for what it is, but the worst part is the customer experience. After calling to cancel service over a month ago, they kept the service going for an additional month and billed me for it, even though I cancelled it and didn't want it. When I refused to pay the bill for service I had already cancelled, I was told I had to pay it or it would impact my credit score. The entire Brinks company is predatory in nature. They lock you into YEARS long terms without your knowledge and state they can do it because a contract, which they will never provide you as they are verbal and you have to subpoena the phone calls, states there's nothing in there that says they CAN'T do it. Brinks told my 90 year old grandmother that the battery in her system needed to be replaced in September 2023 and that it is fine to do it herself. When she did as they instructed, it cut the connection from her system to the Brinks alert system. She has been trying to get Brinks to come out to reconnect it since September and has made $224 in payments during this time. 4 appointments scheduled, 4 no shows by Brinks. My 90 year old grandmother has been without service (but still paying) for 6 months and they continue to drag their feet. When I call to assist her, each call I'm informed about new hoops I have to jump through to help. Record any call you have with them. I used their texting service and got a response that they are too busy to respond to me. Damn! Hopefully I never get robbed in my home and then need help. I would be better off calling a pizza delivery guy. At least someone would be at my house within 30 minutes! They have a very strict cancellation policy where you are locked in for 2 or 3 years. My parents have been brinks home customer for nearly 2 years. When they installed the system my parents brought up the concern that given that they travel a lot, false alarm would potentially be a huge issue. They were promised that false alarm is pretty much "nonexistent" and extremely "rare" with Brink's good system. Well not the case t all....While my parents were away (cruise, outside of country, no cellular service), false alarms occurred at a crazy rate of at least 6+ times (with multiple times a day on one occasion). The result is, my parents got charged for $2k+ from the police department. Parents called to get alarm report so we can discuss with police department, they were promised a false alarm report within 3 business days now 7 days had gone by we do not see any report. I called in their customer service (after being on hold of course for eternity) to try to see if there is a solution, but was told the "solution" is to make sure someone (aka get more people enrolled as"emergency backups") to answer the calls in case of false alarms. I'm puzzled by this: aren't these frequent false alarms caused by their equipment error/faulty system to begin with? Instead of being accountable for their system issue and do a root cause analysis, solution is "too bad, you need to better cope with those false alarms????" This is like building a house for someone to live in, but instead of building a quality house, try to sell to customers good ambulance support so that you can be rescued in case of a collapsed house‍!!!??? Worst part, now parents have to deal with buyout of their contact or they pretty much need to cancel all cruises and international traveling during the remaining months of their contract to avoid another police bill. Actually probably need to cancel any flight longer than 2 hrs in case they could not be reached during these flights in case of false alarms. So its possible that I'm being petty but here is my experience. I switched to Brinks from ADT due to independent reasons but I called and signed the deal and put a card on file to bill as I had to, to get the equipment. Been using the system like normal till I started getting collection calls due to non payment. When I asked why are they not using my card on file as I have payment history they just said there is no card on file those are just invoices. So my advice is to check and double check and triple check to override human error and stupidity. Other than that its fine. read more

If this business is just a one-off of Brinks Security, I apologize. I bought a house and assumed the previous owner's Brinks account. I've called over and over and over trying to get information on the equipment, updating the account to ME, changing PINs, getting instructions, etc. Each phone call lasted a minimum of 1.5 hours and a maximum of 3 hours (those times include enormous wait times). Because I couldn't get help, I tried to CANCEL the account. It would cost me over $800 to cancel. My Brinks system has had issues from the start. It beeps all the time and has multiple issues. I called today and was told for them to come out and look at it I would have to extend my contract 3 months or pay $75. I just want to cxl it but was told I still have 34 months. I have actually never used the system because it has had so many issues. It would cost $1745.34 to get out of the contract. Gus from the Loyalty department just kept saying the same thing. For a professional organization, Brinks Home is surely behaving like a clingy and desperate ex. I had their service for 10+ years. The price almost doubled to $35 so I called to negotiate a lower rate. I was told I had the best rate and nothing could be done for me. At this point I decided to cancel and go with a competitor. Brinks cancellation policy requires a whole month for the cancellation to "complete" and I get charged for the whole time that I am not even using their service at this point. I would understand the billing cycle but it is unacceptable that Brinks is using my final weeks as their customer to swindle my account with unused charges. To make matters worse, I have been getting offers to stay with them ranging from $29.99 all the way down to $14.99 in their latest and most desperate attempt. I placed an order for 2 sensors and 3 magnets on 12/22/23 and billed for the sensors. 3 months & 4 days later, no sensors. I called customer service 8 times & all have tried to figure out why my order was never sent although I have 4 UPS tracking numbers. I also contacted UPS and they have not received the product to ship on all tracking numbers. Since I explained to 8 different representatives, one person said she'll be my contact so I don't have to explain the whole debacle mess again and will call me back with an update. This is now a week later and no sensors, no callback or follow up. The 5th representative tried to figure out why Brinks did not ship the order and concluded they were out of the magnets so they held the order of the sensors. He put in another order for the sensors only and put a rush & explained there will be a charge of $20.90 to expedite but will have billing reverse the charges. I was billed on my next statement and called again. Fortunately the 8th representative spoke to his manager and credited my account and called w/i 2 hours to confirm. He also emailed my supposedly direct contact to update me the status of my order. All Representatives tried to help but none of them could help figure out why the order is not sent. No sensors, no follow up till this day. I will never renew the contract or recommend Brinks to anyone. Technical support team is great and always helps to solve any issues so that's a plus to the company. Why is Brinks so dishonest about the sensors and bills the customer when the product not shipped or received. This is so frustrating and I'm so disappointed and angry. I had to switch because AT&T stopped providing security service and they transferred all of their customers to BRINKS. What a joke that company is! My camera stops recording in the middle of the month because i get to the limit that Brinks gives me. Their answer is: You have to wait till the 1st of the month so your camera can start recording again! What a joke! We moved out of CA in June, 2022. We had a hard time cancelling Brinks Home Security. After repeated phone contact we made an additional final payment and sent in the cancellation letter in May, 2022. We started getting collection letters in March, 2024 in FL from Zion Debt Holding in UT. We called Brinks and they said our acct was inactive and the debt had been sold. PSA.... DO NOT use them unless you wanna pay thousands of dollars for equipment you can no longer use once your not roped into a contract. We were roped into a longer contract and didn't even know it. We had called in during COVID to lower our bill due to not havin an income when everything was shut down. Little did we know that they were extending our contract while BARELY lowering our bill. Not to mention, with all the fees they've tacked on over the past few years our monthly payment was more than before. Now our contract is done and we can't even use our equipment . Brinks is the worst. They kept increasing my bill for the same old system, when I called to see about upgrading, they want to charge me $2000 for "free" upgrades to get me to stay on as a customer as well as increasing my rate by $20, and locking me into a two-year contract. Today, BRINKS SECURITY replaced NeoPost as "Most Completely Incompetent Vendor I've Worked With Ever." In the twenty-four years I've been in this job, I've worked with hundreds of companies for a wide variety of things. Vendors to fix the air conditioners, to repair the roof, to empty the dumpsters, to tune pianos... they all have their idiosyncrasies, and things happen some times. I make mistakes; vendors make mistakes, we have to work through stuff. But then there's systemic, fish-stinks-from-the-head-down, complete and deliberate incompetence as a company. That's Brinks. We had problems about nine months ago with the little magnetic contacts that go on the doors, and tell the alarm panel that the doors are closed. They are literally stuck on with double-sided tape, sketchy as that sounds. In a home situation, I suppose that works OK, as long as it's not humid, and the paint's new, and you don't accidentally bump it. In a commercial business situation, it's not sufficient; these doors get more traffic than a house. So two of the entry doors had problems with them falling off, and when it was a problem at lockup time, I got calls at 11 PM or 1 AM to talk people through how to bypass the zone until I could fix it in the morning. The technical support people when I called, told me that I could buy some new double-sided sticky tape, and stick them back up myself. I explained that we needed a more robust solution... but despite all my pleas, there was no way that I could convince them to send a technician to fix them. They just couldn't do it. So, I called 360 Alarm, the company who monitors our fire panel. They also do alarm installation and service, they had actually been the sub-contractor who had installed the panel for Brinks in the first place, and they sent a guy the same day. He put a screw through each of the little f&ckers, and they haven't wiggled since. Problem solved, $140 service call, thank you very much, call us next time you've got a problem. I asked if they also did monitoring for the security system, and they do, so we made plans to switch. I love the fact that they're local; I call and talk to Chrissy. Chrissy sends Phil or John. We're a little business; we have a company culture where it works well because we can talk to one another. I know my principal contacts at most of our vendors by first name, because they're human beings that I work with and like. Brinks was not flexible about breaking their contract, so we waited it out. As it got closer, the offers of "Renew now and SAVE!!" came hot and heavy. I'd already had a conversation with someone there, and asked in detail what was needed in order to cancel the account, so I just waited, and when it was the right time, explained to them that we would not be renewing, and why. Then the calls and letters started. "Please come back! We'll cut your rate in half." "Ask us how you can keep your security system and save, save, SAVE!" Again and again. More than one a day. I called a couple of times, made them confirm that our account was closed each time, and asked them to stop sending letters. Today, I got a paper letter. It said "ACTION REQUIRED FOR CANCELLATION in thirty-point text, implying that our account wasn't actually closed, and then went on to say that they hate to lose us as a valued customer, and want to give us ONE MORE OFFER, and to please call them at this 1-800-541-9453. It's the WRONG NUMBER. It goes to a Medic Alert company, who of course hang up when they get ANOTHER of the stupid Brinks calls. . Brinks is the same number, but with 866 instead of 800. Then I sat down and opened my email. There was an email, with the SAME MESSAGE, and the correct phone number... but in a font that makes it almost impossible to tell they're not zeroes. Yeah, those numbers above the little green button are supposed to be sixes. It's like they're TRYING to make it not work. It hurts to watch this - I think it was my friend Pamela who told me that she came upon her nephew late one night, sitting on the kitchen floor in the pool of light from the open freezer door, eating ice cream straight out of the half-gallon tub with a spoon, and holding his hand to his forehead, and moaning "Hurts... hurts" with each bite. It's like that. So I got to have a few "Dear incompetent idiots" phone calls. I don't necessarily ENJOY them, but they do have a certain satisfying quality. I called the 1-866 number, first, and they're just retention. They have no power. They don't have any way to get in touch with the people sending the letters, they're just in a call center. They can only sign me up for a renewed contract; they can't do anything else. So I called the main number that we call for "service," such as that was. I immediately asked for a supervisor, and when Miranda asked why, I explained briefly that we had fired Brinks, with prejudice and for cause, and I wanted to talk to somebody about the continuing stream of emails, calls and letters. read more

Agreement with Brinks Home - 1-24-22 (Initial payment: $808.63; Monthly Monitoring Service: $39.98, cancel at any time) Installation of Equipment - 2-2-22 March 2022 Customer Service could not solve issues just 2 months after installation. They arranged a Service Call. 3-21-22 - Technician did not show up, although I had a text reminder that they would. 4-14-22 - Second scheduled Tech did not show up, in spite of text reminder. 5-6-22 - Tech finally came. Note: I had to wait about 3 weeks after each NO SHOW, for Brinks to reschedule. Since the problem originated in the company, no fault of mine, I did not expect to wait for rescheduled dates. 23 May 2023 Doorbell camera stopped working. A technician came and told me to hire an electrician, because the problem was "not a Brinks issue." August 2023 Carbon Monoxide Detector was sounding off. No one in Customer Service could provide a solution. Brinks Technician stated that the Carbon Monoxide Detector was very outdated , although this had been installed on 2-2-22. I paid $50.00 for this service call. The detector seemed ok for about 2 weeks but continued noises periodically while I made calls to Customer Service, changed batteries, and followed all advice given. I requested that Carbon Monoxide Detector be removed from system but Brinks refused, suggesting I call local Fire Department, who might remove it for me. Mid-April through present Noise originating at Brinks Keypad sounding 10-15 times within each 24-hour period. Multiple calls to Customer Service did not solve problem. I was offered a Tech Service Call for a $75 fee or a 7-month extension of service. This does not seem fair for me to pay or extend because of a fault in the Brinks system that Customer Service cannot solve. I emailed Brinks at socialmediaATbrinks on June 15th to no avail. Brinks claims I am under contract and advised that I would need to pay the contract out, in order to cancel Brinks service. There has been "no meeting of the minds on agreement." I am upset that Brinks has not provided adequate service. If Brinks has what appears to be a transcript of agreement, 8-5-23, it was accomplished through deception, manipulation, and/or coercion. 30 June 2024 Because I did not agree to the expensive home visit and/or the 7-month extension, my Brinks Keypad is still beeping 10-15 times a day. Furthermore, Brinks has repeatedly replaced faulty equipment with expired or substandard replacements leading to ongoing issues.
