So, when a lawyer recommended them to help us take care of a friend as we live out of town, we looked at the fees. Our friend could afford them, so my husband signed the contract as her POA. Then the reviewer said they will sue you if you "don't have money to pay them back." Why did she sign up with them? It's not like the fees are hidden. Did she not make an agreement to pay them back? I found this confusing with misplaced blame. That being said, LifeCare has been a godsend for us. Our friend is visited every week and the care manager is fantastic in checking up with caregivers and the assisted living personnel. He attends to whatever we need of him to help us out. Their nurse came and did an outstanding overall health review with suggestions to make our friend's daily living a better experience (about a 15 page summary). As a result, we are moving our friend to what we believe is a better facility for her needs, AND it is almost $1600 cheaper per month. Now we can re-direct the savings towards more one-on-one part-time care. We, too, experienced sticker shock all around with the state of elderly care in this country, and I'm sure many people could not afford this level of oversight for a loved one. However, our friend can, and we are grateful for the exemplary service LifeCare provides. My recommendation to anyone who has a family member in a facility is to at least contract for the bare minimum so there is an experienced, expert set of eyes to alert you to any issues.

It's still relatively new so some things have not been set up at the time of this writing. For example, the main entrance is locked and there is no bell to ring. So, you need to call your stylist to come let you in. I'm sure that will be solved quickly. I can't review the stylists since we still use the same one we're always used, and don't know any of the others. However, the location is large, with many open rooms that I'm sure will fill quickly.

Words can't express my gratitude towards ascent home care. My father was in rehab and given a weeks…read morenotice of his discharge and suggesting that he had 24 hour care. I had a week to find care for my father, which the other companies I interviewed either needed minimum 2 weeks notice or we just didn't jive. But with ascent home care, they were ready, willing and accommodating! The process with my dad was overwhelming and on his discharge date I couldn't be there. Ascent took the reigns and kept me updated with everything from the time they arrived at rehab to when they were on their way to my dads to when they arrived home. Hey made the process easy. The care workers were amazing and patient with my father and kept me updated with everything going on wth him and supplies he needed. The Dr's gave him 7-10 days to live. He lived for more than 2 months with excellent care from Ascent. Our caretaker, Ariel, was an amazing angel that gave my dear Father-In-Law respect, comfort and friendship. He bathed and fed him and gave him massages. He fit right in with our family.
