Sola is a hair styling location where individual hair stylists can rent space. It isn't one styling location but many. Our stylist closed her old salon and moved here. It's still relatively new so some things have not been set up at the time of this writing. For example, the main entrance is locked and there is no bell to ring. So, you need to call your stylist to come let you in. I'm sure that will be solved quickly. I can't review the stylists since we still use the same one we're always used, and don't know any of the others. However, the location is large, with many open rooms that I'm sure will fill quickly. read more

He will remember what style/color he previously did on you, what you like/dislike when getting your hair done and it comes out perfect every time. I've been a fan of Gaya for two years now. We first met at Xentrix Beauty Lounge, and she recently opened her own salon so I followed her here. I honestly won't see anyone else for waxing or threading...and I tried. The experience was night and day. I don't know about you, but finding someone you feel comfortable with to polish your fine china is not an easy task...well, at least not for me. One of the best qualities about her is that she always makes me feel at ease while making me laugh at the same time. I like to call it...... 'Fun time with Gaya'..haha. If your looking for upbeat, professional, personable, caring and reliable beauty services...then she's your girl. She is a wealth of knowledge. She makes you feel safe when your lying on that dreaded table knowing the Brazilian your about to get is gonna hurt like hell (for at least 2 minutes). She is kind, warm and just a good soul. Her prices are more than fair and she offers incentives as well. All products used are natural/organic. I see her for waxing and threading, but there is nothing she can't do....from lashes to hair styling, cuts, henna tattoos, color, skin care, nails, makeup...She does it all. She's also extremely hygienic and making appointments with her is a breeze. She's located in Sola Salon Suites at Bloomingdale Square mall - this building is newer, very clean and nicely decorated. More than enough parking (plus you can stop next door at Taj Mahal and grab some excellent Indian food!). She had more reviews showing on her page, but I heard once she declined advertising with Yelp they chose to hide those reviews. I just have to say that's pretty shitty of Yelp. I haven't had a cut in awhile because I have very long and thick hair and I like to keep it long. For some reason, many stylist never seem to want to listen to their clients who ask for a certain length off. I went to Amy Allwelt at Fentons Sola Salon I believe it's Amy's Hair Artistry, but her name is correct. I showed her where I wanted my hair to land which was at my chest line. She replied with "so you want a trim" I said yes. I informed her I had my daughters wedding next month and was getting a messy low bun and how important this was. She stated "oh yeah, you will have plenty of hair for that". She washed and combed my hair then went to the back where you can't see it and started chopping. By the time it was cut where I could see it, I knew it was cut way too short. She then blew it straight and it landed an inch past my shoulders!! My hair was gone! I called for a refund as she charged me $55 for this hack job and she never called back. Do not book with Hair Artistry by Amy Allwelt!! She does not care at all and does not know how to do a basic cut! I have spent $200 getting real hair extension pieces to color my hair color so I could get the hairstyle I wanted for my daughters wedding. Lesson learned! Val's Vivid Creations is a 10/10 recommendation if you like to have a great experience during the process of getting your hair done. Someone had recommended her to me and it was a blessing. I visited Val for the first time recently, and I can't say enough how I enjoyed my time AND my hair looks phenomenal. She's so knowledgable and you can tell she loves what she does. She takes pride in her work, which makes it a little easier to trust her as well. She's super friendly and funny. It's just an all-around great experience.
