Hey if you like internet that cuts in an out all the time on for 2 minutes off for 3 Brightspeed is the internet company for you.

My Brightspeed internet is down in Roanoke Rapids, NC. I called to ask for a technician to come out and correct the problem. I did all the home remedies requested to no avail. So...the soonest they could send a technician was in 8 days. Then...Brightspeed sent me a review request for a recommendation. Here's my review for your pleasure: Dear Brightspeed, My 0 rating of my phone in experience had nothing to do with the competence of your agent, and everything to do with Brightspeed service. It is not acceptable to have to wait 8 days to get a technician to my LOCAL AREA! Simply put, you need to hire more technicians! I live in Roanoke Rapids, NC, not Alaska. I'm an easy drive up interstate 95. You don't have to reach me by float plane or dog sled...2 days is acceptable, 8 is inexcusable! I will NEVER recommend your company or service to anyone until availability to a technician is dramatically reduced!!!!! Actually, your rating should be below 0 for your decision to put higher profits above customer service!!!!!!! And...you can call me or quote me on that! read more

I am so frustrated and appalled with a bright speed. My ex had dug a hole and it broke the Wi-Fi in 2024. We called Brightspeed and they came and fixed it, but they left some wires exposed. I honestly didn't think much of it. We broke up. He moves out 20 months after the incident. I get a bill for $598. I called Brightspeed and a lady on the phone said do not worry about it. it was way too late. I can see we didn't send you any other ones. It's OK so guess what I did what she said. I forgot about it. Well, then I start getting calls from J&R adjustment agency trying to get the $598 because it seems like bright speed then sent it to collections. I spent two hours on the phone with bright speed, trying to figure this out. They create a case for me and they had a tech come out to bury the wire, but when the Tech got here, he was really rude. He called me and he said this is for spectrum and I said well that wire wasn't showing until after the event and he was swearing at me and he was really awful . I clapped back which I shouldn't have done because I don't know what happened but I've never received any email about the case of the $598 even though they said they'd be emailing me with 48 hours. I told them I had very little faith given everything that had happened and they were really apologetic and yet again nothing happened so I feel like I'm banging my headache against the wall and I suppose I should just pay it but I just find it really frustrating that a business could do this to anybody especially after this past weekend spending two hours on the phone with them. One lady was so nice and she said oh this is unacceptable. I'm so sorry that happened so I just feel like I've now been lied to. read more

I am extremely disappointed with the experience my grandparents had with Brightspeed and one of its employees, Milo Rucker from Red Springs, NC. In January 2026, Milo came to my grandparents' home and told them their internet service had been connected, even though it never was. During the visit, he requested their credit card information and assured them that the card would not be charged. However, about an hour later, the card was charged despite no service ever being installed or activated. Since February 2026, we have been repeatedly contacting Brightspeed to request a refund. It is now July 2026, and we still have not received our money back. We have spent months trying to resolve this issue with no satisfactory response. This entire situation has been extremely unprofessional and frustrating. What concerns me most is that my grandparents are elderly, and they trusted the information they were given. It is unacceptable for customers especially senior citizens to be misled and charged for services they never received. I hope Brightspeed takes this complaint seriously, investigates what happened, and finally issues the refund that has been owed for months. Customers deserve honesty, accountability, and respectful treatment. read more

BEWARE OF BRIGHTSPEED! LITTERBUGS! Long story short: The town of Clayton hired subcontractors to come out and lay infrastructure for fiber internet. After their install, they decided my forest was the perfect trash can for their rubbish and lobbed it over some bushes before leaving. When the leaves dropped, I was able to see the nice gift they left behind for me. Is this how my tax dollars are being used? Are these the kinds of people you want coming onto your property? I am super disappointed. If the city sends Brightspeed out to do ANYTHING on your property, tell them this: NO THANKS! Shame on you, Brightspeed. read more

I want to express my frustration with the decline in service since Brightspeed took over from CenturyLink. Unfortunately, the quality and reliability of the service have continued to go downhill. I have experienced ongoing issues that have made it difficult to depend on the service I am paying for. When CenturyLink was providing the service, I did not experience these problems to the same extent. Since the transition to Brightspeed, the service has become increasingly unreliable, and this is very disappointing as a paying customer. I expect Brightspeed to provide consistent, dependable service and to address these ongoing issues rather than allowing the quality of service to continue declining. I would appreciate having this matter reviewed and receiving a clear explanation of what Brightspeed plans to do to improve the reliability of my service. I have remained a customer despite these frustrations, but continued service interruptions and poor performance are making me reconsider whether Brightspeed is worth the cost. read more

I definitely would not recommend this company they came on my lawn messed my lawn up completely told me they was going to fix it back they never did I found a claim with bright speed after the clean was filed then they want to send somebody out to my yard and throw some dirt on a spot mind you now they left their big trucks on my lawn overnight these are fuel leaked all out on my lawn still couldn't get any answers from brightspeed it be these big companies that want to s*** on the people that try to support them I will continue to write reviews about this company definitely do not recommend and the internet goes in and out in and out in and out and it takes forever for you to get somebody to come out and fix it read more

How can an internet provider have its own website non-functional for over a month? Fortunately, the internet connection still works well. read more

My Internet is out and has been for 5 days so far. On Tuesday morning they scheduled an appointment with me for Wednesday 1p-3p stating that they didn't have anything else. On Wednesday, they canceled the appointment, stated everything was working, and then rescheduled my appt to Friday 8a -10a. For the inconvenience, they credited my account for $6 but I still don't have Internet and I don't trust that they will come at the currently scheduled time and date. They are horrible. read more

this is by far the worst internet provider I've ever used. outage during the first week of service, customer service can't explain why. We left Spectrum to save $30 a month. BIG MISTAKE!! read more

I want to give a 10 star review to BrightSpeed technician Jordan Parker for being professional, along with the hard work that it took to find out where the problem was with my line phone. Thank you for an outstanding service proformance. My home phone service is up and running great. Again 10 stars for Jordan Parker and Mr. Tony read more

I called to get my service connected and they had me put a $60 deposit down. When the date came to get the service activated, I called all day and they kept saying the technician was on the way but he never showed and around 5 p.m the technician called and advised me they had put me down for copper internet but copper internet was not available where I stay. Initially, I was told they didn't offer fiber internet in my neighborhood that they only had copper. So, the conclusion was for them to submit a refund , it's now been approximately 50 days and I haven't received anything!!! I've called and got mixed feedback on the refund first it was I'd get the refund in 7 days, then it was 30 days, then it was the check was sent out and should be here in 10 days, now their saying 7 days again!! I've been getting the run around with them constantly!! Highly frustrated and disappointed with brighspeed!! I DO NOT RECOMMEND!! read more

Brightspeed's service at our residence resulted in multiple outages for unexplained reasons over a period of several months. Initially a tech was dispated each time, a new modem installed and the service then worked for a while before crashing again. The final straw was during the last outage when Brightspeed "shipped" a modem and expected us to complete a self-install. Two people in our residence work from home so all of these days, we are without any form of internet. The modem finally arrived 3 days passed the promised date and we were unsuccessful in attempting the self--install, while becoming more exasperated. Only at the very end of this completely frustrating experience did Brightspeed show any concern for the inconvenience or difficulty the situation caused. Their offers were way too little, way too late. We cancelled - couldn't recommend them to anyone for residential internet. read more

They have the worst customer servic. I asked for the phone number for residential service as I called business The guy gave the number for optimum. lol which I ended up going with. We had tree guys here from the town to clear all branches from power lines and they cut all the lines to cable/internet. The whole block was out. When I called they text us they'd be here 3 different times. Never came. Started on Saturday, today is Tuesday still not fixed. I went to optimum in Greenville nc and brought home the equipment and my husband installed. Not hard at all. Happy to have internet again with better company and customer service read more

The service is inconsistent and the representatives are hard to understand.. trying to get service but apparently it doesn't matter after installation is nearly impossible.. due to the lack of communication skills on their end. I have called repeatedly for service on existing account.. I reckon the people that work for them are incompetent. They had to come out here repeatedly because they're incompetent workers kept breaking the fiber optic cable! On an up note, the supervisor that visited us in our home was very professional, and he got the job taken care of. He came back to make sure that it was taken care of & properly working .. He also stopped at every home on this block to be sure everyone was taken care of! read more

Brightspeed is the worst phone and internet provider there is. They came and installed a new line Friday after 5:00 pm, shut down an active line and now state they can't get a technician here until October 1st! Make I make sense read more

Absolutely the WORST company I've dealt with in my entire life. Our phone service went out last night. I went through all the normal tests, and took the time to go jack into the service panel to test the line independent of my home (it's the purpose of the jack being there on the Network Interface box). The super high level of noise is still on my line even with the home disconnected. It's Brightspeed's problem. So to cut to the chase, EVEN WHEN IT'S PROVEN IT'S THEIR PROBLEM, the best Brightspeed can do in regards sending service help is ONE MONTH. Keep in mind our phone is completely unusable. The help desk tried to call but we were unable to communicate because of the noise. So, we all agree that it's their service that is at fault, and the BEST THEY CAN DO WITH AN UNUSABLE PHONE is 30 days for service. I don't use them for internet service. Neither should you, as their customer service is THE WORST I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED. I only use them as , if I want a landline, they're the only game in town. If I could give them a zero, I would STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM BRIGHTSPEED. read more

Worst cable company. Unfortunately due to living in a new housing development the only cable choice. We tried to have them come out to install and set up our service not once but 5 times. Each time they went to the wrong address 80 miles away. Whatever system or software they are using, is does not work. Customer service is horrible, outsource to another country. Limited English and unable to communicate effectively. Overall, will not recommend ever! Sove yourself sometime and find something else. read more

I thought I would try Brightspeed but after being on the phone for an hour to sign up with at least 4 people who took the same information and being transferred from to the other I thought it was a bad sign. Then in the process of cancelling has been just as messy where no one is able to process the cancellation although one person said they did and would send me a confirmation number via email but after 3 hours no email. The tech keeps texting me that he will be out to set things up but can't get a hold of him. So glad I made the decision to cancel less than 24 hours after signing up. I would give them less than 1 star if I could. read more

I would give this company a negative 5 if it was possible to do so. Although the representatives are very polit, the service they offer with regard to internet AND the fact that their. website does not work AND they only take payments between 8and 11 AM shows that they just want to run up your bill and Continue to charge you for services you are not getting... DO NOT, Repeat DO NOT use them if you have other options read more

If I could give a zero I would. The worst experience I have ever had!!!!!! Landline issue for over a month. Finally a rep recommended changing to 4G voice plan. An appointment was made 1/3/26 for 1/13/26. I called 1/12 confirmed and called twice today 1/13 to confirm as we have not received a call it is now 3:30 pm (the window was 8-5). I was then told a hold was placed on the order 1/6. No one made a contact attempt to let us know. After 7 1/2 hours waiting today this was the explanation?!!?!! The rep would have to add our number to their system, take the hold off and call back to make another appointment. Unacceptable!!! There is no local office you can go to and no stateside customer service department. Be aware!! 33 years with Century Link/BrightSpeed!!!! Unbelievable!! read more

They are unreliable period. I have called 3 different times to set up installation. All three times. NO CALL NO SHOW. I call to ask wth and they couldn't care less. I took off work 3 times for the appointments. DO NOT GET THESE PEOLE! read more

I would not recommend anybody to use brightspeed, they need to be reported to the attorney general, that let you be without service for days or weeks but they got your money, and then don't want to give it back,I think it is on purpose read more

Customer Service is horrible. I've had service for two months and my line is still not buried. They have escalated the situation to management and I still haven't heard anything. This would be the second call for this issue. I would never recommend Brightspeed service to anyone. If you read this please understand when you call customer service you will not get an American speaking person. They obviously outsource their customer service. Your issue is always given a ticket and then they say someone will reach out by phone or email in 24 to 48 hours. Thank God they don't do contracts. My service was installed at the beginning of May 2025. Thank God I never got rid of my other cable provider. They have been down/service outage a total of at least 10 Days or more in the first 30 Days. If management or a decision maker is reading this please respond with a real number or something so I can get real help. read more

My internet was out. I called to report outage and finally hung up after holding for 45 minutes. Never got to speak to anyone.

May 2025 Brightspeed - steer clear of Brightspeed as your ISP - 6 down days in the last 60 days. SOS: ... custome service is in The Philippines - Tech Support is iffy unless you luck out and actually get someone that knows their stuff. ... & they are very difficult to understand. Can I give 0 Stars? Seriously! read more

DO NOT GET BRIGHTSPEED!Going on day 4 with no internet, no reason why and no updates on when it will be fixed. They do not have redundancy or any regency to fix anything. I recently moved to Nashville, NC. My HOA did a contract with Brightspeed and I am stuck. They are the absolute worst ISP I have ever had. My Router has been replaced 5 times since May 28th. I thought it was the thunderstorms and bought the backup power supply and two days later my box went out for no reason. The had already sent me a replacement, so I swapped it out and that one never connected. Customer service is the worst and I appeased them with doing everything I had already done before I called and they said "you got a bad router, we will send another one". That is their standard solution, the techs won't come out because they know they have crappy routers. I work from home and their response time is insane. The first time it went out it was out for 6 days, the second time it was out for 4 days, twice them came out right away and the router went out the next day both times. Then they said they will ship new boxes in 3 to 5 days. Again, I am trying to work from home. They take my money every month and provide the crappiest service. I am trying to keep my job, I am considering moving from this community, away from HOA and get a better provider. I really hate Brightspeed! read more

Service was fair , however I found a less expensive service. I canceled Bright Speed, but they continued to charge me even though I have another Internet provider. Bright Speed equipment was disconnected when the new equipment was installed. I do wonder how they can keep charging if they don't even have their equipment connected to anything? It is not even worth 1 star. read more

DO NOT USE Brightspeed. is simply AWFUL, the worst company I've ever had to deal with. From the non-existent customer service department, the in-home service scheduling (they can't put you on a calendar in less than a month AND their online payment and Brightspeed app in which to pay your bill... they don't work either. You will get emails telling your your bill is past due but there is no way to pay it online because their system is down. This is the WORST option possible for internet. You can't get anyone to help you when you are a customer and the internet connectivity isn't great either. When you call to pay your bill (like it's 1985) you are prompted and the messages go round and round and you never get a live person to help you. When you do, it's routed to a call center that isn't helpful. They are quick to try to get you on auto pay but can't fix their OWN internet issues. HORRIBLE. If I could give them a negative star rating... I would. They don't deserve ONE STAR. read more

Only gave it 1 star because it makes you put a star. 2nd time this month, 5th for the year that we dont have service and its only 3/11/26. Our business line is unable to make or get calls yet again and they claim to be unable to transfer the line to a cell phone immediately. The last time on 3/4/26 they said they'd transfer it in 2-3 hours but never did. Im beyond fed up with this company. They transfered me to a rep in the billing department to discuss crediting the account and she was incredibly rude and even went as far to act like she couldn't hear me even though I could hear her and she kept the call connected rather than disconnecting and calling my cell back. So either she's lying or their service is so shitty it doesnt even work for them. Will be contacting the PUC and I highly suggest other disgruntled customers take the time to do that as well. And I've finally convinced my boss to switch providers, I cannot wait! read more

If i could rate zero stars i would, this company is the absolute worst at communication and organization, the techs don't communicate with the customer, the scheduling & dispatch team don't communicate with customer service. I have had my set up appointment rescheduled 4 times now since December and all 4 times are because their "engineering" team hooked everything up to my neighbors house instead of mine and have dragged their feet on fixing any of it. They've just rescheduled my appointment for the aforementioned 4th time and they can't even set an actual appointment because they don't know when their "engineering" team is going to fix their mistake and make this house ready for set up. If you have any other fiber choices take them, do not put yourself through countless wasted days waiting on these people like I have no choice but to do read more

Bright Speed has to be outdated! This is the Block Buster effect, they need to catch up. Block Buster got left behind because they would not update and get with the times and Netflix came in a got all the business. Spectrum and other companies will put Bright Speed out of business if they do not get it together, and soon. There are always issues with buffering, slow internet, non-communication when there are outages. I have not had internet since 8/12, and it is 8/15. The automated service has not been updated even today it still says the internet will be restored 8/14 at 1:06 am. Customer service is clueless, no one knows anything. I called and told the representative my name and why I was calling, they don't listen I had to keep repeating myself and they don't speak good English. The only thing they say is "I am sorry for the inconvenience" No, don't be sorry, compensate. I pay my bill, and I should have to ask if it is their fault. That is why the service fees are there to cover this type of stuff. I work from home, and this is a huge inconvenience not having any information. I can't plan my days; I have to leave home to find internet. There is no information on the cause of the outage. If Bright Speed was honest and tell people or sent out notification, they wouldn't be so bad. When you call in the wait time is so long, and they ask 10,000 questions to verify you and still can't send out a notification when an outage comes.?? Why ask?? At this point this is pretty much FASLE ADVETISMENT. read more
