I had the opportunity to take Aliyah's and Amy's Dance Jam class on a Wednesday and Thursday night at 630pm. Drop in fee was $3.50 for my daughter and $5.50 for me. I was visiting their classes because I'm from Texas and my sister invited me to go with her one night and the other night I went with my niece and my daughter. I loved Aliyah's and Amy's fun work out vibes. I would definitely recommend their classes as well as return when I'm in Colorado again. I didn't work out so my review is solely on the classes I took.

My type 3 life jacket that my son wears when he goes swimming!

BE CAREFUL- The staff at this pool is not SAFE! So I have been coming here for years and I have not had any issues until recently. So a few weeks ago I took my 6 year old, swimming at the Disney Resorts in Orlando, and I helped save a 2 year old from drowning, my son wore a life vest and was safe, the 2 year old, estranged toddler did not and drowned in the pool and had to be revived by means of CPR, and I learned quite a bit from that ordeal, but that is in a different review! From the Disney experience, I learned just how important a child's life vest can be and not taken for granted! So instead of borrowing the life vests that are provided by whatever pool I would visit, I decided to be proactive, I purchased a regulation, certified, type 3 coast guard child's life vest. (See photos, the difference between type 2 and 3). We went in to the pool and I was approached by the life guard who asked me if the jacket my son was wearing belonged to him or the pool? I told him that the life jacket that my son was wearing, belonged to him, it was a coast guard certified life jacket? He told me that I couldn't use my own safety equipment that I had to use, the life vests that are provided by the pool. So I clarified with the life guard by asking, "Let me get this straight, you want me to down grade from a type 3, brand new, personalized life jacket, to a type 2, used life vest? Not to mention that half the buckles on most of these vests are broken!" He replied, "Thats ok you can still, tie it off at the top! If your son knew how to swim, you would not need one and it wouldn't be an issue, the rules are safety equipment must be provided by the pool, you know liability issues." "Well my son knows how to swim, but he can get tired from time to time, the vest gives him added safety and encouragement in the water. I know how to swim myself, but I still wear a vest when I go boating. As for liability issues, if something happens, your going to make me a rich man! Oh, one more thing, I noticed that your swimsuit is different then mine, can you get me swimsuit that is provided by your pool?" I sarcastically replied. "Sir, now you're being sarcastic, I am just doing my job!" He replied. On 06/08/2019, I returned to the Brighton Rec. Center. My 6 year old wanted to go down the water slide, so I fitted him with a semi broken life vest, provided by the pool. With this vest he found the confidence to go down the water slide all by him self. He went down 4 times, before I was approached by the lifeguard supervisor, this is what he said to me, "Sir, when your son is wearing a life vest, you need to go down the slide with him." "Really, is it because you think that vest in someway might snag on the ride?" I asked. Then the supervisor replied, "No it's because, he can't swim. Now he can go down the ride by himself without a vest. Provide he knows how to swim." So I rebutted with this, " Really do you know how stupid and illogical you sound? My son knows how to swim, and you are making the assumption that he cannot, because we are being just a little more cautious, wearing the safety vest that your establishment provides? Half of the vests have broken snaps on them. Do you know how many people are injured with concussions and drown from the under tow, because of collisions, from multiple rider on water slides? You should read the statistics! You should never discourage the use of safety vest, especially around a water slides, wether the person can swim or not!" Then the supervisor said, " This is a rule that comes from a higher source than, me and I'm just doing what I'm told!" "Really, well your boss is a moron and what you practice makes no sense!" I rudely implied! In conclusion, I would like to point out, according to a report by the Associated Press, the Red Cross cites estimations by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, which revealed that more than 4,200 people are taken to the emergency room a year from a water park-related injury. As for injuries caused by water slides specifically, a 2014 report by NJ.com, evaluated data from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, revealing that waterslides posed a larger threat for injuries than rollercoasters. According to the State Department's findings, out of 552 reported amusement ride accidents spanning over five years, 122 were waterslide-related. The NJ.com report also indicated that out of the 552 injuries reported of the 122, 0 wore life vests. Tammori Petty, a spokesperson for the State Department said. "Water flow is still not an exact science and unpredictable things can happen. Everything, that I have read about buoyancy technology and safety of your children is in courage by life saving professionals, however, Brighton Rec Center, is encouraging parents to not be safe! That is why this place is dangerous! Because I don't believe the administration here is competent! Take you kids to a safer place!

Receptionist ladies are always so rude. You'd think for sitting around and doing nothing all day they'd have better attitude.

I called at 8am to make sure we were listed as residents, because my daughter wanted to do a very popular class that has limited spots. Registration for residents opened 12/3 at 10am. I was assured at 8am that our account was good to go as residents. I am a nurse who works night shifts, but I set an alarm to wake up at 9:56. I watched that little button count down the seconds until time to register, however when I hit the button I got a message that I was a non-resident and I could register on 12/5. I am very much a resident and my tax dollars fund that place. I called and called and once my phone call went through the front desk people were lovely and helpful as they could be and put me through to leave a message for Misty. 3 days later I got a dismissive email response from Misty. She is rude and unprofessional. I have taken my business to Thornton rec center and we do gymnastics at Hyland Hills. It's sad since we pay taxes to fund this great facility and have to fight for spots for our kids to attend programs

I was so nervous walking in, but from the moment we arrived, every single staff member made us feel welcomed, safe, and supported. Our guide, Koa, was the perfect balance of fun, kind, and incredibly skilled. He guided us through the rapids with such confidence and ease while also making sure everyone felt safe and included. He checked in on us several times throughout and made sure we were having fun, asked us if we wanted to "spice it up" a bit or keep it mellow and just really let us know this was "our" trip and he's cater to what we wanted. I quickly found myself letting go of fear and enjoying the moment... something I didn't expect would happen. Koa's energy was contagious, and his calm, respectful nature made us feel like we were in the best hands possible. At one point on the river, another rafting company had a mishap and we had to pull over and wait for them to recover and get their riders back into the raft safely. Koa explained what had happened with total grace - no judgment, no gossip - just a calm and respectful explanation. He also spoke so kindly of his own coworkers and even the owner of Liquid Descent. You could tell he genuinely cares about the rafting community and takes pride in his work and LOVES his Liquid Descent family! Every employee we encountered was friendly, encouraging, and helpful - from getting us fitted with helmets and life jackets to cheering us on as we headed out. As someone who started out nervous, that kind of supportive vibe made a huge difference. They encouraged me, and they helped me push past my comfort zone in the best way possible. What a GREAT memory! We will remember this day not only for the thrill of the rapids, but for the kindness and heart of the people who guided us through it! If you are considering rafting in Colorado, go with Liquid Descent. I'm so glad we did!

Turns out that Park Village Pool is within walking distance of my residence, so it's been a great place to trek to, as the heat's been insane this summer. An initial $5 fee will get you registered in the system and you're given small, medium and large ID cards that make you eligible for resident rates at any of the City's facilities if you're a Thornton resident, although it's pretty much open to anyone. Modest $2.75 per day resident rate, and I believe season passes are available for around $75. Nonresident/public rates run a bit higher. A big plus is that it's located right in front of the RTD Route 92 bus line. Lots of grassy, shaded and non-concrete areas, and there appears to be a separate wading pool for little kids. Very friendly staff members and lifeguards, and never a problem getting a chair. I think they've got some planned activities throughout the week, as I accidentally showed up an hour before the open swim period began one day earlier in the summer, walking smack dab into the middle of a senior citizens water aerobics/synchronized swimming class! lol Hot showers in the locker room, which appears to be very well maintained. Several diving platforms, and the lap lane ropes are cranked out quite frequently. Only downers are that there's almost always at least one little unruly, punk ass kid in the crowd spoiling everyone's ride, with parents that either stay silent or aren't around, but that's to be expected at a facility like this. I still think I was a lot better off here than at the 95th Avenue pool. Also, they'll close for the day if there's even a remote chance of rain in the forecast, as I got skunked on a couple of sessions, both being when the sun was out full bore - the place was locked up tight. It seems like a lot of business gets wasted that way. The telephone number is a voice recording/info line, so you can't really call ahead to verify if they're open or not. Definitely the nicest public pool I've been to for the most part, keep up the great work!
