AMAZING! You can take pictures with the actors outside walking around like zombies. They scare you when you least expect it! Beware Sooooo scary I was literally screaming and I almost ripped my boyfriends arm off. The chainsaw at the end was the "killer" ! Lol they run you out with your heart in your hand. My mom and I come here for it all, the regular Halloween season, Santa's haunted slay, the Easter attraction, and the Valentine's Day attraction (which my mother and I won the contest for one year). The owner is such a sweet guy he really does a great job and he's not like your typical jerk owner who simply could care less about making an appearance. He's usually there and he's very welcoming and it's nice to make a face to the attraction that's so popular. I've been going to this attraction since they first started and didn't have so much popularity now I've watched there attraction grow into something so big! It's awesome I'm so happy for this attraction cause it deserves it. It doesn't seem to disappoint at all! I will probably be there next week! Can't wait to get my scare on :) read more

I've been to a lot of haunted houses and this haunted house by far was completely worth it . The drive was about an hour and half from where I was coming from in dutchess county in New York , i was hesitant about driving that far for a haunted place that I hadn't really heard anyone go to but Brighton recently followed me on Instagram a couple months ago and I've been obsessed waiting for the Halloween season to roll around to come to this place and it was completely worth it . you can tell whoever owns this place puts their heart and soul into this . I loved that they had actors scaring you while you were waiting online . The line wasn't too long especially for a Friday night . There is a fast pass available but I loved waiting and being scared you weren't even expecting it . I'm for sure coming back !! read more

I've been DYING (literally) to visit this place for a few years and I finally made it. I guess knowing that this was mostly made up scary aspects I was somewhat alert to my surroundings. During the walk-through of the Asylum, I was scared a few times by people jumping out of the walls or ceilings or floors. The elevator rides DEFINITELY more CREEPY than scary! I don't want to go too much into details as not to spoil it for anyone looking to visit soon. I would definitely recommend going with a group of friends. Maybe drink some alcohol beforehand to let your senses and guard down a bit. read more

First... Waited 4 hours in line. I have no problem ever waiting especially if I paid for it ... And I assumed it was something worth the wait. After about 2 1/2 hours(still in line), a group of 9-13 year olds tried to have their friends cut in front of everyone ! (Usually I'd find that okay), but their friends did not show up until 2 1/2 hours into the wait, and then decided oh I don't have to wait cause my friends already have for me. No your cutting hundreds of people for that. At first the lady (with a very good English accent) in charge of the line said "oh people get kicked out for that" but when they were up by the gate let the group of 4 cut everyone. After that, we were finally in the last que before entering. We were in a group of 6. 3 of us and 3 others. But the little kids who were in front of us got so scared they balled up into a corner and they ruined the whole experience for us. Having kids running around when your trying to have a good time isn't fun. We didn't come to babysit or watch over anyone's kids. Security or the actors should have picked up on that and done something about it. It wasn't really scary... No one really popped out or followed us through the house. Now it was Halloween and there were a lot of people but still to me the acting and the vibe of this whole place was awful. I wouldn't recommend this to a friend my age, this should be for 17 and under if even. My final thought is I would never go back here, even with a fast pass. Not worth the money. I scare easy and it was so bad I just wanted to go home and sleep afterward. these actors/actresses just weren't feeling it. (only good one was the guy who said he killed his girlfriend because she cheated on him)(very into his part). Was happy this was so close, but now it's a bummer because it was awful. read more

I'd call myself a connoisseur of haunted attractions. And this one is on the top of my list. My friend and I went Halloween night (our mistake...of course it's gonna be the busiest time of the year), but despite that, it was really well done and executed. Sure we waited over an hour, but it was expected. Once inside, the fun started. First, you go to a room where you got a brief shock and it falls, which was cool! Then you go through the Asylum, where they grab and touch you, which heightened the experience. The actors there were also wonderful in their jobs as well. I'd come back here for sure! read more

Came the weekend before Halloween with the general admission pass to 3 of the attractions. Although a wait is expected never thought I would be standing on line for 4 hours. By the time I reached the front I had no interest in seeing the other 2 attractions I paid for. I think what bothered me the most was when others asked if their ticket would be honored if they return a different day or time the employee said yes it would. With this being said I can only assume everything with this attractions is unorganized and they simply push people through like some sort of factory. Bought a ticket for 9pm arrived 30mins prior and didn't set foot in the asylum until 1am. Through out my time there I asked employees how long my wait would be and every time I would get the same answer " don't know , it depends ..." Completely unorganized and I'm truly unhappy with my experience. read more

One of the best haunted attractions I have been to yet! I would have to say the fast pass is definitely worth it because if you go with general admission, you could be in line for a long time. You can choose whether or not you want the actors to touch you by wearing a glow stick on you, which is provided when you are there. Some of the costumes for the actors were amazing...especially Pennywise which was spot on! Highly recommend this attraction to get you into the Halloween spirit! read more

We went for Santa's slay. We were running a little late because of a flat tire and other family stuff. But we had preordered tickets, and they let us right through. We were literally the last people. Rather than a staff that just wanted to get out of there, the cast did an excellent job. They were wonderful interacting with us. Definitely some of the most fun I've had at a haunt. I can't speak for Halloween, I'm sure it's much more crowded. But I felt like they did an excellent job with a fairly small cast. It is our newest holiday tradition. read more

Don't go unless you want to wait outside in a line for 3+ hours. Dress warm and bring rain gear - waiting area is not covered like it says online. Arrive 2 hours early, not 15 minutes like it says on their website. Ridiculous and disappointing. Edit to add - The issue is that you clearly sold more tickets than your facility is able to handle and now you wont provide refunds. This wait is completely avoidable and 100% the fault of the business. As to the actual attraction -- I wouldn't know if it's good because after waiting 90 minutes in the freezing cold and rain (online said the waiting area would be covered - its not) and only getting less than half way through the line, my partner and I had to leave because we were too uncomfortably freezing. Even if this was the best haunted house in the world, NOTHING is worth a 3+ hour wait in the cold and rain. The haunted houses are great and it includes a lot of rooms and characters. However, I wouldn't go back. My sole issue is that it's too dark, so you can't see most of the characters and design well enough to appreciate how scary it is. It would have changed my whole experience had the lighting been better. I've been to several haunted houses, which enables me to form a fair opinion. Pros: - lots of characters, hallways passages and rooms - cool animatronics - loved the shaking bridge - I bought a fast pass ticket for an 11:30pm time slot the Saturday before Halloween. Zero wait time (probably, because it was late.) Cons: - too dark, can't see how scary it really is, so I only had a few jumps - the stairs in some areas aren't well lit, so be very careful - regular lines are insanely long. Went on 10/14 (Friday). I have never been to a haunted house and was pretty confident, but came out of the haunted house breathing heavily and with tear stains om my face. I was so scared that my soul died lol. My fiancé and I bought tickets for the 9pm slot through the website. The tickets were about $33 per person. We got there around 9:30PM and was able to park near the attraction. It was a 2hr and 30min wait for the line without fast passes and we are not good with patience. So, we bought the fast passes for $40 ($20 per person) and we waited 5mins on the fast pass line. Since we were just a group up two, we were put together with another couple. Those who look scared will be pursued more than those who just laugh it off. The first part for me was bearable, but the second part is the one that got me crying. Even the staff that was dressed up with a machete asked me if I was okay lol. There are many exits for those who no longer can handle the attraction. Even though I was crying and taking this thing way too seriously, I have finished the whole thing. The main purpose of this place was to scare me and they did it too well. My fiancé wants to go again, but I can only handle it maybe once a year. In overall, it was worth it. read more

The rooms are beautifully done and the actor makeup was better than I thought it'd be. But to me it wasn't scary and it didn't freighten me but ived worked on a haunted set before so that's just me. The girls I were with however were very scared, held on to me and made me lead the way. The line wasnt long because we got there 20 min before our set time. Prob 30 minute wait. I did however have a lot of fun. I like how the actors have something to say back if you say something to them. I like how one of the girls had a stare down with me. And when you wait in line actors entertain you and the free parking is a plus. The staff seems to love what they do. So its something to appreciate. It is definitely for all ages. read more

Vistied right before Halloween on their contact night. It was a pretty fun time. Staff was in character from the moment you got on line well before you entered the asylum. Costumes and effects were good. I found myself laighing more than actually being scared (but I usually do in those kinds of settings) There were definitely some moments where I got spooked. Waited about an hour to get in but worth the time and cost. Contact night: the web site says that they can touch you, grab you, separate you from your group and even simulate waterboarding (which never happened and was a false statement expressed by the staff there). They grabbed you, touched you to get a reaction (mostly laughter from me lol), they separated me and my girlfriend at separate times. It lasts about 20-30 min depending on the size of the group you go with and how fast you move through. Overall fun time and fun experience. read more

We arrived at about a quarter to 8 on a Sunday and were able to park in one of the last spots there. The line was ok, but I would guess people were already waiting for a half an hour. We paid the extra money to get the fast pass- which made our experience just under $100. The attraction was well done and the actors were great. I was super impressed by the contact lenses and make up. When we were inside, I honestly had no idea where we were- lots of twists and turns. The thing is, $100 is a lot for a 1 attraction haunted house. You can drive to a house and hayride and pay a lot less or a lot more. The bigger places usually also have concession stands and fun pictures, and this place has basically nothing extra. Also, the end of the attraction includes a slide with a pretty severe cut off that can hit your back, and a ball pit that is screaming lawsuit. It's not the best haunted house I've ever been to, but it's not the worst. read more

I went this past Saturday (10/20/18) at 8PM for the two main attractions they offer, and I was seriously disappointed by the whole experience. From purchasing the tickets (too many options, vague descriptions for a first timer, and lack of customer support) to standing in line for 2.5 hours, the whole experience was subpar. Additionally, the parking is horrendous; if you get there after 8, most likely, you will have to park at the satellite parking lot a MILE AWAY. Now, the attractions themselves weren't that bad. But the fact that there are so many hurdles to going in there, the main one being standing in line for 2.5-3 hours, I do not recommend this place unless you can afford speed pass and get there at 7PM. read more

My rating on Brighton Asylum Haunted house? 8/10 1) Not enough actors doing scaring since most of the attraction was based on the INCREDIBLE set design and sound production My boyfriend & I were so intrigued by the set designs that we focused more on seeing everything than hoping we'd get scared. 2) Could definitely be longer. Advertised as a 30 min walkthrough but really took 20 minutes to finish... & that was with a normal walking pace, no rushing and occasional speed walking due to actors yelling at us to move on. Would definitely recommend it for any horror fans! Only suggestion is to get there really early!! Parking is small and tight and the line got extremely long! My boyfriend and I drove down from NYC which took us about 30 min and we got to NJ at about 6:30-7... After seeing two TINY CREEPY signs that said Brighton Asylum and arriving at the pitch black, scary looking abandoned warehouse, we didn't encounter any workers or someone with whom we could ask questions and make sure we were in the right area or not. We finally saw people arriving around 7:30-7:45 & were able to discuss amongst ourselves where we thought a reasonable parking area was and if we were ready to head inside. Being that it was really early since the place opens at 8pm, there were NO lines for either the ticket booth or the line to enter the haunted house. We had a great, easy & fast time doing all of that and ended up being first on the line to enter the house. Before entering there are actors in costume and character interacting and "scaring" the customers. Nothing too extravagant but the normal guy with a knife and mask and some guy on stilts with a "burnt" face. More for photo opportunities than anything. Before entering we also happened to see a lot of cameras and sets doing television promos and similar things like that. By the time 8 came along, RIP (VIP) entrance customers had already went inside and our tickets were punched for entrance! Our fun was ready to begin! We took like I mentioned a good 20 min to finish the entire house and when we exited we saw the EXTREME mess of a line for tickets, entering the house & for parking! We couldn't believe our eyes! Thank God we got there early! Everything was smooth and calm for us! Definitely worth the trip from NY and definitely worth getting the tickets online and arriving early for!! Will certainly be returning for the Santa's Slay attraction in December! read more

I don't get scared very easily, but I thought their haunted house was quite scary. I would say it was worth the money because I definitely got scared a few times. I thought the length of the attraction was not too long or short. I could tell a lot of effort was put into the haunted house, and I enjoyed the maze in the beginning. However, I'm giving 4 stars because I also tried out the escape room which was not one bit of fun. I've been to ones that were a lot better. The escape room has a lot of potential if they would make it more challenging, interactive and creative. The only good thing about the escape room was its aesthetic, which spooked me out. read more

My nerves are shot and the actors and landscape that was created in the factory had great detail. So here's the deal. This place has some things that I liked a lot and some things that really, REALLY were horribly bad - to the point where it's unlikely that I would ever return. 1. Parking - look, I get it, you have a small lot on site. But sending people to a site a mile away while there's still half an empty lot behind the building is really dumb. Even worse having only a short bus to cart people back and forth (bus probably seated 24 people....when we arrived for our scheduled time, there were probably 150 in line, so we just walked it). Even WORSE: making people leave purses and bags in their car. In Passaic. In a dark parking lot. Not for nothing, my entire party felt like this was a setup to have all of our stuff stolen. It was made worse because the parking attendant at Brighton told us to take our valuables with us, the non-uniformed attendant at the far-away lot said to leave all valuables in the car. Thanks random guy with flashlight! We feel safe and confident about this trip! 2. Ambience - horrible. Make no mistake: you're walking through an abandoned factory that's been setup to be a haunted house. The outside of the place gives no impression of being anything otherwise. Pretty much the only attempt at "decoration" is a projector showing a fake news reports on the wall. Hard for that to really influence anything since it's done without much sound. All you're doing is watching a fake reporter yapping away, but no idea of what she's saying. 3. Wait times/attraction length - We bought the fast pass option (as we do for pretty much any haunted house). I'd rather do a couple fewer haunts in a given year and be able to skip over the lines, than wait 3 hours to get into ANY attraction. This place was no different. Folks without fast passes reported waiting 3-4 hours to get to the first attraction. The real problem? The two attractions combined took MAYBE half an hour to get through. The wait-to-play ratio sucks for the people without an extra 15 dollars to burn. 4. The Asylum/The Tunnel - So the Asylum was pretty well done. Creepy with a good mix of actors and gnarly backdrops. Overall a pretty satisfying haunt but way, way, WAY too short. My party was literally JUST getting into the thing, and it was suddenly over with a dump back outside into the aforementioned undecorated parking lot. Nothing takes you OUT of the "haunted house" type mood quite like being back in a parking lot between attractions, where you can clearly see there's literally nothing creepy at all. You're then escorted into the back of an "experiment room" for a brief interactive attraction (think 4d movie type of thing), followed by a ride in a fairly well done elevator simulation, and then "The tunnel". I wanted to like the tunnel, I really did - the setup was decent and the environment was creepy. But if it took more than 5 minutes to go through I'd be shocked. INCREDIBLY disappointing, especially at 60 bucks a head. 5. Haunted Staff - above average. There were costumed actors doing their best throughout both haunted experiences. They were creepy. They didn't interact too much, but they did stare, and scream, and provide any jumpy-scare opportunity that they could. No one here is going to make you laugh or chat you up. They're serious about wanting to get you. No complaints. Now look, I do get it. Space is limited, time is limited, everything is limited. They've done the best they could with what they had to work with. But if you're going to charge me 60 bucks, you need to give me some value for it. When there are options a little further away that'll take an hour, hour and a half to get through for similar price points...well...let's just say that you're not going to make my list of places to return to. No matter how good the things you put out there may be, if I feel like I got ripped off, that's pretty much going to be the end of it for me. read more

Yes, yes, yes! Someone I follow on Instagram posted a photo of her and her friends at Brighton, so I decided to check it out. We were going to head to Bane in Livingston, but the idea of an Asylum intrigued me more! I wasn't disappointed. I wasn't scared much (I'm a horror movie junkie) but it was still AWESOME. My brother and cousin enjoyed it! A lot of people complain about the line, but it's literally on the website "dress warm, wait times can be up to 2 to 3 hours". I heeded that warning and dressed like it was 30 below and was very comfortable. A lot of people in line were not haha. I didn't mind the wait either. It didn't feel that long, honestly, maybe because I was expecting it. My brother timed our wait haha 2 hours and 13 minutes for us to get to the front of the line. We arrived at 10 and got into the attraction at around 12:13am 10/31/15. The attraction was really cool with a lot of unexpected twists and turns. The workers running the lines were very sweet, striking up conversations with us. An all around awesome way to ring in Halloween. **The only complaint I have is I wish they enforced the no flashlight rule (confiscate flashlights). The group in front of us kept trying to find the actors before they popped out and were huge jerks about it. The actors shut them down a few times (told they would get kicked out) but they continued to have their phones out/flashlights on some of the way. It kinda ruined the experience, but not by much! Also, I wish the sign that stated "no alcohol, no touching the actors, no lighters, etc" included "no cell phone use" more clearly. It very well may have, but I missed it. A lot of people seemed to as well because they tried to take pictures throughout the attraction without knowing it wasn't allowed** All in all I will definitely recommend this place! First time there - great experience! I'll keep it brief with my experience: went with a group of 10 but they only let max 6 people in at a time as one group. The less people you're with the scarier though (my advice). The earlier you go the better for parking/waiting on line. I'm not gonna go into detail and spoil the experience but I'll say I'm someone who always finds these things corny and funny more than scary and this place did a great job keeping me in suspense lol I even jumped a few times for real and I never do. The actual haunted house and haunted tunnel was good! However, I would not wait in the ridiculously long line again. Its it really unbelievable to expect someone to wait in line for an hour just to move to a second line to wait for another hour. We waited in a line to wait in a line!! We had tickets for 9pm on a Friday night. We arrived at 8:45pm and left around midnight. Each attraction is 20 minutes so the rest of the time was wasted waiting. I would recommend getting fast past if you are planning to go because the staff basically ignored the general admission line for fast past the entire night. From my experience with fast past other venues are better at doing more of an "every other" approach as the fast past line is usually much shorter to begin with. It would have also been more bearable if there was more activity going on while you wait. I have been to previous attractions where there are tons of actors interacting with and scaring those standing in line. Brighton had maybe 2-3 people to tend to hundreds waiting in line.. not a great experience. Again, the actual attraction is worth the trip, but they need to sell less tickets per night to provide a better experience. read more

Not terrible, but certainly not something I'd rave about. The location is very cool - almost like... "Should I actually be going down this dark, eerie road? Is this a trap?". A+ on where this is located. PROS: 1) There are some really good actors while waiting on line. It sets the mood for what is to come. 2) I also love that they allow only your party to enter (word to the wise - arrive early). 3) The detail in some of the rooms was very creepy, and the actors truly intend to scare. 4) I love that this is a year-round attraction, and I would definitely consider making a trip for Xmas or Valentine's Day. CONS: 1) If I was at the back of the weaving line, this would not have been worth the wait (especially not for the price of the tickets). I was about 25th in line when they opened, and it took about 30 minutes from that point. 2) Some of the rooms and their themes just didn't seem to fit into the "haunted" category. Unless this is Cannibal Holocaust, the jungle room was a total miss. 3) I wish there was more interaction or uniqueness. Haunted attractions are not far and few in NJ, so stepping up your game when putting a dollar value on admission is key. read more

Driving up to the asylum was pretty creepy and definitely set the mood seeing all of the barred windows. I love that it still looks like a run-down asylum! We found parking pretty close since it seemed like there were a lot of people leaving. We got tickets to the 9:30pm show, didn't get in until 11:30pm and there was a lot of staff confusion about where we should have been waiting. There was even one point where we realized that they had let the 10:30pm group go before us! The line could have definitely been better organized. I could understand a one hour wait because the attraction was really great, but two hours in the cold was just too much. Apart from that I was really scared! I was a little disappointed that some of the actors from the website were not in the asylum, especially the woman with the device holding her mouth open which was by far the creepiest picture on the website in my opinion. They had a great contortionist kind of actor who really pulled off the creepy exorcism look. All of the actors chased me and really enjoyed what they were doing (or so it seemed!). I wish there was some music and actors outside to make the wait go by a little quicker. Or if they had sold hot chocolate, that could have smoothed things over a little better. Overall it was a good experience but I don't think I would be paying to return to wait on a line like that again. I am a pretty understanding client, but that wait was really crazy. Blackout in NYC seems way scarier! read more
