Submitted request to Yelp and got replies from a few companies, but Josh at TD Electric quickly…read morereplied to every message that went back and forth. We needed a GFCI outlet installed in the kitchen of my daughter's house in West Hartford, not a huge project, but Josh said he could come out and give us a price. He came the next day, confirmed prior to coming, and most importantly showed up exactly when he said he would show up. Price was more than fair, so after agreeing he went ahead and finished the job that day. Work was excellent, work area was clean, and the whole experience was beyond pleasant. We'll be calling him back for more projects. I highly recommend his services.

In a business where I am constantly babysitting horrible contractors, I never once had to worry about Josh at TD Electric! Josh is honest, loyal, personable, reliable, fairly priced, on time, professional and extremely competent - going the extra mile repeatedly for me! He is a true "go-getter", does everything the correct way and lacks that ugly ego that his counterparts tend to have. There is NOBODY better if you need an electrician. 5 STARS!!!! I hired Eastern Electrical Contractors to install two light fixtures in my home, one of which was a…read morevintage chandelier shipped from Germany. Unfortunately, during installation, 3 out of 5 of the glass globes fell and shattered due to improper handling and a failure to ensure they were correctly secured before lifting. My state of shock at seeing irreplaceable glass shattered across my dining room floor took over at that moment. Still, after explaining the situation, the original invoice was dropped from $200 to $165. While I can appreciate the partial discount, $35 off really made me feel dismissed. This was a vintage piece, a detail I had stressed while booking. The destruction of the shades doesn't just damage the fixture; it damages the entire value of the piece. After some back and forth (during which it was stated that it was within reason to fault me too for not explaining the precarious physics of the chandelier), the price was eventually lowered to $100, with a promise that if I found replacements, they would cover the cost (to an extent). Unfortunately, that seems like a long shot; these shades are likely irreplaceable, and I think even they realized the absurdity of trying to find matching replacements. The invoice was ultimately waived, but that doesn't begin to make up for the damage done to a one-of-a-kind piece, plus the hours I have spent searching for something similar since the accident. I am incredibly heartbroken, and while I understand that mistakes happen, this experience fell short of the care, accountability, and empathy I had hoped for. If you're installing standard fixtures, you may not run into issues. But if you're working with anything vintage or fragile, I'd strongly recommend finding a team with more specialized experience, more care, and more willingness to take responsibility if something goes wrong sincerely (and immediately).

He worked with the other contractors to rough out the wiring before the sheetrock was installed and came back at the end to install the lighting and outlets. We arranged with him to stay after finishing the bathroom to take care of a to-do list of electrical issues that had been nagging us, including: rewiring a toe-kick heater in the kitchen to take it off the basement light circuit, diagnose and fix dead CFGI outlets and a xenon under-cabinet light (dead transformer) in the kitchen, added a basement light in the basement workshop, removed unwanted basement outlets, added two ceiling four outlet gang boxes in the workshop for drop-down power for tools and tool chargers. I had a collection of electrical parts and romex that I intended to use myself, and he used what he could so he wouldn't have to charge me, and even gave me credit for some of my unused parts that he could use on other jobs that I offered to him for free. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and offered suggestions for improving on my own thoughts. He even took care of a few minor things like a cracked gang switch plate, missing screws, and a hanging gang switch plate cover in the workshop. We will be using him again in the future when we install a whole house generator and replace the breaker box to protect linemen from back-feeding the grid.
