I got to try a Macaron making class and it was a fun experience. It was supposed to take 2.5 - 3 hours. The other party was late so we started about 10 minutes late and we went way over 3 hours. The class is very hands on. You get detailed instructions, and a template for the Macaron shapes. The instructor is the owner, and she is Cordon Bleu trained and loves making Macarons and Chocolate. She will tell you all about her schooling, background, experiences, and the history of the Macaron. The instructor will walk you through the process step by step, explaining why you have to be precise and follow each step completely and in order if you want to get good results. She also explains how you may need to add a little extra of an ingredient based on the humidity, the science behind it, etc. You make the Macaron shells and you also make Italian butter cream filling to put in the Macaron. Again, I don't know what that means because this was given to me as a gift from a student. So I googled, and it turns out that discounted gift cards can be purchased through membership organizations: RESDC, funex and COSTCO. So I'm assuming, that the gift card that was given to me as a gift may have been a Costco gift card, because I have never heard of the other vendors. LASTLY, FINAL VERDICT The only reason I'm still giving them a one star review is because I had to send them 3 different messages in order for me to get a response. - I'm very grateful for the response, but I think it would be very helpful for you to clarify what the definition of a discounted gift card actually means because it caused a lot of confusion and in the end, I had to investigate the true definition. -customer service did not really find a solution to the problem. -This gift cards policy is nowhere to be listed on their main webpage or in store so again, this will respectfully cause confusion * I will still use my gift card because I love your candy. Five stars all the way! We have found our new favorite breakfast place in Oceanside. We picked up a…read morelarge order to go which took ~15 to 20 minutes on a weekday around 8 AM. One of the best items is the Chicken and Waffles Benedict ($19). It worked extremely well together with the sweetness of the Belgian waffle and the savory notes of the chicken. It included small containers of maple syrup. The hashbrowns were the best! They really killed it with the super crispy outside. Loved it! However, DH liked the Savory Crêpe ($15) even more! This one just had such a great flavor combination: the little bits of chicken, mushrooms, and classic Provence seasoning. The avocado toast ($8.50) with an over-easy egg ($3) was amazing. It features a multigrain bread and just had some great toasty flavors and topped with a little bit of micro greens. Everything worked so well together. The ham and cheese croissant sandwich ($9.25) is a rectangular shaped one. There is an omelette "patty", tomato, and bacon on the inside. This one was also surprisingly good, even when deconstructed and reheated the next day. The kids really enjoyed sharing a sweet crêpe ($14) with four toppings: strawberry, banana, chocolate, and real whipped cream. We tried a cappuccino ($5.25) and a soy latte ($5.25 + $1 for milk substitution). They were really good, not bitter, but I wish it was a little bit more concentrated. Maybe I'll try oatmilk next time. All of the pastries were amazing. We got a bunch to share and enjoy throughout our vacation. We tried two scones ($3.85 each), blueberry and raspberry pecan. The scones were nicely crunchy on the outside, yet soft and tender on the inside. Wow! We froze these for eating the next day and slowly thawed them in the oven and they were still wonderful. The brown butter chocolate chip cookie ($2.95) had a rich buttery taste. The texture is right in the middle and it's pretty large. Holiday Christmas tree cookie ($4.50) is a delicious buttery sugar cookie with a multitude of sprinkles. This one is not very big, but you can tell it required a lot of work to make it. Get more than one! The Chocolatine ($4.75) was a favorite. So flaky and it has a good amount of chocolate in the middle. Cheese Danish ($4.75) and All Day Bun ($3.75) are saved for later so we haven't tried them yet. Overall, an amazing place for a high-quality breakfast. We will be back!

The incredibly sweet woman behind the counter who helped us with a dessert order for a family dinner for twelve, the sheer beauty and variety of the baked goods in her store, or the 20 amazing cookies we ended up buying. The Carlsbad Bakery has been around for 40+ years specializing in Danish and French pastries, quiche, cupcakes, cakes, and too many eye-popping things to list. We walked over on a Friday and after talking to the proprietor decided that a variety of cookies would be the way to go. What wasn't easy was deciding what type of cookie, because their big chocolate chip, pistachio, almond, cherry, and peanut butter cookies all looked beyond amazing. We decided on a box of 20 mixed cookies ($52.90) and returned the next day to pick them up. My Sweet Lord, the box was as heavy as a bowling ball and was warm with freshly baked cookies. The intoxicating aroma penetrated the carton and filled our hotel room. When they were served at dinner, people's eyes popped out of their heads because they were so gorgeous. I managed to restrain myself and limited my dessert to one pistachio cookie that was fantastic. Of course, all of my cousins wanted to know where we found these amazing cookies.
