So I went to the children's museum out in Bridgehampton and saw this place along the way. It looked super cute and had decent reviews for ice cream. My daughter and I stopped in for lunch - it's cash only. I was going to order a quesadilla but it only came with chicken and cheese, nothing else, and was $18+. I guess you're in the Hamptons, so it's expensive, but I just couldn't see myself spending this kind of money on a quesadilla. We ordered 1 scoop of chocolate with m&ms for my daughter and I got a 2 scoop with hot fudge, whipped cream and a cherry. My bill was $28. I find this insane. I get that we're in the Hamptons but the ice cream wasn't even that good, mediocre at best. The place also had a horrible smell to it. Old, dingy and smelled like a public restroom.

Enjoyed lunch in this venue from yesteryear, with legit counter service. Comfortable booth, seated promptly, and friendly greeting from Mauricio, a fantastic server (see photo) -- who made excellent recommendations. Souvlaki in a pita was fresh tasting, loaded with tender, well-seasoned chicken, and a greek salad with soft feta cheese. I also had lentil soup, served at a proper (hot) temperature. Yum! Everyone enjoyed their meal. Coffee chip ice cream cone for desert was homemade deliciousness in a sugar cone. And, one of my friends had a root beer float that looked fantastic, and he really enjoyed it. Wonderful lunch. Ignore the grumpy and negative reviews. Good value for the Hamptons in my opinion.

I had the Candy Kitchen Salad and enjoyed it very much. I needed something light and if it the spot. I also had the strawberry milk shake but had it with skim milk and it was amazing. Tasty and the strawberry ice cream was delicious. My friend had the banana shake with skim milk and fresh bananas. That was really really good!!!

Pistachio ice cream. Wow. That was a small for like $5. Yummmmm.

Perfect place for a bite, but more importantly for the ice cream. It was up there, top three ever for me. You can dine in with warm and patient service. They have enough staff, and are very nice to you. Having left Montauk where it seems the town gave up, it was a pleasure and a joy to have such a perfect experience at Candy Kitchen in Bridgehampton.

Solid diner experience at the Candy Kitchen. Noticed at least a few regulars come through, so nice to see it's a spot that locals enjoy as well as tourists. The coffee was hot, the BLT was crunchy, and the sundae was lovely in its old-fashioned sundae glass.

It was pretty good. I had peppermint and it was very tasty, though a little icy. I'll cut them some slack since it's not only the off-season, but middle of winter too. It's an adorable place, olde-timey with a soda fountain counter and charming walk-up window. I'll definitely come back when the weather is warmer and try again.

4 stars for the lovely staff and delicious house made Ice cream! But sadly 3 stars for the food... So really a 3.5 for my overall experience. Food is mediocre so don't bother thinking you'll have lunch here and then the ice cream... Just go with the ice cream.

I have fond memories of this place as a child. The pistachio ice cream is to die for! My favorite memory is when my father sat me down at the age of 7 and promised me that I would one day become CEO of the family company. I'm still working on that, but I like to visit from time to time and have an ice cream and stare longingly into the sunset thinking of what my life has become.

Very good ice cream! I've seen this place so many times of my years coming out here and always wanted to go. Staying at topping rose I sent my hubs right over after dinner to get us some shakes :) So delicious. Cash only. Adorable inside (from pictures I made him take lol)

The ice cream was mediocre. Friendly service though. Seems like people in the Hamptons are missing out on really good ice cream.

My insides sang such happy songs while I devoured my panini. So much so that after leaving the Cafe I said to myself that I still have my discount from post wedding registry I ordered a panini maker off of Williams Sonoma. That's how damn good the panini was. The coleslaw was meh but the standout was the panini. So much so I've already made a mental note depending what time I leave Montauk after my annual work trip I may stop in here. I don't care if I sit by myself because it was that good. Golden Pear you can count on me coming back for more!

This place serves mid food for insane prices and we only go there because there's few options nearby to grab lunch before hopping on the Jitney. Every pastry I've had there is mediocre. Every lunch I've had there is mediocre, but in this case it was a little less than mediocre. The sandwich was incredibly dry, needed sauce, dressing, mayo, something. Instead they buttered the bread??? Who butters a lunch sandwich. The lettuce and tomato at least provided some (albeit limited) moisture. Pasta salad was fine.

Topping Rose House, Bridgehampton: Culinary Highs and Service Lows…read moreRating: (Food: 9.5 | Service: 6) Topping Rose House remains a bit of a Bridgehampton enigma. As a spot we find ourselves returning to a couple of times a year, the kitchen continues to operate at a gold standard, even when the front-of-house seems to be stuck in a bit of a fog. The Food: A Seasonal Symphony If you are coming strictly for the palate, you will not be disappointed. The freshness of the ingredients is palpable: * Oysters: These were pristine--served icy cold and exceptionally fresh. The mignonette was the standout here; perfectly balanced and bright, it elevated the oysters rather than masking them. * Pea Soup: This was a revelation. It tasted as if the peas had been picked just yesterday; it was vibrant, "green," and utterly delightful. * Lobster Roll: While it was admittedly small in stature (especially for the price point), the execution was flawless. It was bright, crunchy, and avoided the heavy mayo-trap that many local spots fall into. The Service: A Comedy of Errors Unfortunately, the gap between the kitchen and the dining room was wide during this visit. While our waitress was personally lovely, the actual mechanics of the service were incredibly frustrated: * Timing Issues: We were offered bread at the start of the meal, yet it didn't grace the table until we were finished eating. * The Water Gap: Our sparkling water sat empty for far too long. Refills were offered, but like the bread, they arrived only after the meal had concluded. * Lack of Proactivity: There was no offer for drink refills throughout the courses. * Accountability: Most disappointing was the lack of acknowledgment. Mistakes happen, but a simple "I'm so sorry for the delay" goes a long way. Instead, the lapses were never addressed or accounted for. The Verdict: Topping Rose House serves some of the most phenomenal, fresh food in the Hamptons. However, when you're paying Bridgehampton prices, you expect the service to match the caliber of the kitchen. We'll likely be back because the pea soup and oysters are hard to quit, but we'll be crossing our fingers for a more attentive experience next time. mi

This was NOT written by AI!…read more The food here was scrumptious, stupendous and stellar--buckle up for a review or reviews. First of all, we thought that the brisket was probably one of the best briskets ever. The bark was thick. It was like a 16th of an inch, maybe a 32nd of an inch bar and there was a prominent smoke ring. The bark was seasoned just perfectly and the smoke flavor--combined--the flavor was on load from God. You did not need any sauce to augment the flavor, but the spicy BBQ sauce was delicious too with pleasant gustatory resonating notes of onion. The chicken--well, that's always a challenge for both home cooks and restaurant chefs--dry white parts is as old is the day is long. If you want some cooking tricks, send me a message on Yelp and I can clue you in. Here though--they nailed it. The skin was crispy, seasoned perfectly, and toothsome but the star of the show was clearly the meat itself, and it was very very moist, a nice hint of smoky flavor and very flavorful. The ribs were also delicious--like the brisket--no sauce needed...prominent smoke ring, moist and tender. The were not fall off the bone but this neither detracted from the taste nor flavor, nor experience. In some ways it made it easier to eat. I could not tell if they left the underside membrane on--but if they did, that would be ok, and to the extent if helped with give the ribs structure--hallelujah. The ribs were so good, I was tempted to bring some home and nurse their consumption over a few days. The French fries were ok--- average, but pleasantly crisp. If I had a recommendation it would be to offer baked potatoes and then charge extra for stuffing it with brisket, pulled chicken, pulled pork, or just plain.
