I visited this place quite some time ago and I had some amazing pizza here and the service was down right friendly and welcoming! It probably helped that the owner recognized me and was honored to have my travel companion and I at their establishment and offered to comp our meal. I said no thank you I will pay and I left them a large tip for there kindness and welcoming atmosphere. We had the Rocket and Prosciutto, Antipasto (for 2), Carne Pizza, and the Quattro Formaggi Pizza. my companion had the Nutella calzone and I had their only option for chocolate free gelato. A MUST PLACE TO VISIT AND EAT AT IF YOU ARE VISITING THE CITY!!! All pizza had an amazing crust which I haven't had since my studies at École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in France. The gelato was smooth and very silky. The salad was good quality and the antipasto had several good options although I remember it being waay too much food so we gave our leftover to some homeless people we saw later that evening. EVERY-TIME I PERFORM IN AUCKLAND, THIS IS MY GO TO PIZZA SPOT!

The pizzas are in the napoletana style with puffed crust on the outer edge and thin underneath. Menu has limited options for salads / veg on the side. Overall thought the pizzas were really pricey for the size and quality relative to other spots in the neighborhood.

Oh look, we've got a voucher for that pizza place in Onehunga - let's go. We pulled up right outside, there was no one inside but the handful of tables were set nicely and the banquette along the wall looked inviting. There's pastas and salads on the menu too and we thought we'd found a place with something to please everyone. We sat down at the table furthest from the front but there was a problem. The sun. True enough, we'd been out in it all day and had our full complement so may not be a problem for some people. For the five of us though, that big plate glass window with that big burning sun coming down in the West was just too much to bear so we had to leave. Such a shame and easily remedied by a blind. Really, in the early evening this place is on FIRE. We might go back in the Winter.

They rejigged things to make a table available for us and the service was charming, chatty and efficient. On a Saturday night around 6.30 the place was full and it seems this neighbourhood eatery is popular with the locals, young and old alike. Our meals were pretty good if not fabulous and for the price there was really nothing to complain about. Two of the little tackers had the Spaghetti Bolognese and cleaned their plates, while I appreciated being able to get the Fettucine without the chicken. Steak for the bloke and penne for the little bloke and everyone was happy. I would really recommend this place and can't believe it's been around for three years and I've only just found it. It's BYO too!

Perhaps some aircon or fans even would be a good idea. I would not like to visit this cafe in the summer time!! Anyway we ordered the pan fried scallops and the calabria pizza. The scallops came with bacon and a creamy sauce with a small side salad. They were cooked nicely but the sauce was not anything that would blow you away. I would say it was just ok. The pizza unfortunately didnt look very appetising when it was brought to the table. Maybe we ordered a pizza with too many toppings (spicy pepperoni, olives, onion, capsicum and tomato) but the flavours didnt seem to work especially the sliced tomato on the top(???). I would doubt that we will return here again. However the cafe was busy so maybe this food is just not for me. Also there is BYO so that is always good :-)

Bosco Verde is a fantastic Italian restaurant, dare I say my favourite Italain resturant in…read moreAuckland (I haven't been to THAT many, but still...). It's always busy and for good reason. The staff are friendly and helpful, the menu is excellent with their specials changing regularly and most importantly it has very tasty food. Their are two sizes for all pastas and most other dishes, entree and main. The entree size is big enough for a main, particularly if you are thinking about getting a starter or dessert. The main size was very large and for the one person who ordered it, too big to finish however they had takeaway containers. The specials always sound amazing. Last time we tried three of them, ravioli, crespelle and the fish of the day as well as the tortellini and maccheroni . The ravioli was filled with pumpkin and beef and served with a smoked paprika and martini rosso sauce and it was exceptional. My friend who ordered it gave it a 10/10. I asked the waitress what was in the sauce (it was so creamy and delicious) but she said it was a secret. My partner had the fish of the day which was snapper in a tomato sauce with scalloped potatoes, roasted capsicum and carrots. The fish was fantastic with a wonderful sauce and the scalloped potatoes were amazing, so rich and creamy. This time the server was happy to tell me that the recipe was from cuisine magazine so I'll have to track it down. Yum! I had the crespelle, a savory crepe, which was filled with chicken and scallops and served with a creamy mushroom sauce and bacon. Again, it was delicious and I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of scallops. The bacon was a little bit over-powering with the mushroom sauce but who doesn't like bacon? The maccheroni was tasty but a bit boring (at least in comparison to the other dishes) and the tortellini was tasty but very rich so I would recommend ordering an entrée size rather than main as it was huge. I ordered the lemon crème brulee for dessert which was on the specials board and it was heavenly, just the right amount of lemon and smooth and creamy. They also have free BYO and do takeaways. I have found it really hard to find Grandmother appropriate restaurants and Bosco Verde has become my go-to for when older relatives visit.
