The bridal shop is filled with both timeless classics as well as the latest trends and sought after designers. Ashley attends New York Bridal Fashion Week twice a year, so she is up to date on all the dress trends and keeps her collection fresh. I felt so comfortable having open conversations with her regarding what I like for a dress, what I don't like, and appreciated her honest feedback. I never felt pressured to make a certain decision or purchase. Ashley knows wedding dress shopping is a process and respected my opinions and personal timeline. Once I found the wedding dress of my dreams, I was so happy that alterations were also done in-house by the Nyanza team. When I started shopping at other salons, I was surprised that all of the ones I visited did not have their own alteration services and would've required me to find a trusted seamstress. The fact that my entire wedding dress experience was all with Nyanza was such a relief. My alterations were absolutely perfect. I am a very petite bride, but Veronica the seamstress was able to alter the dress as if it was custom made just for me. I had a vision to add lace sleeves to my dress and Veronica also created those from scratch and matched them to my veil. I can't thank Ashley and her team enough for the best experience. I was pregnant at the time so I patiently waited a few months to schedule my appointment for a bridal gown. I went to two other bridal boutiques and Kita Bridal topped them both. The other two places have really good reviews and are well established so I figured they were the best of the best and I must go. Kita however was still on my mind so I decided to make an appointment and boy am I sure glad I did. Kita just has it, there's something so special about her and her boutique. She made me and my girls feel so comfortable and welcomed. I walked in to country music playing because she asked my girls my favorite type of music. She had hot tea and water, a kiosk where you can pull up dresses, your style, your venue, anything. We literally walked outside after our appointment and all said we love her! She doesn't hover over you or make you feel pressured into buying something. She says I'm here as much as you need me so you say the word and she'll be right there to assist you. One really cool thing is she takes the time to sanitize the dresses between each appointment. Kita hands down topped the other two places I went. Like I said she just has the magic touch! I will recommend her over and over. Side note, she's also an event planner! I booked my wedding planner but if I hadn't already, Kita would definitely have been my choice. You can tell she knows her stuff which I think helps even more when helping you find your dream gown. So how much do I love this place? I'm buying two dresses. One for my ceremony and one for my reception. Did I mention you can completely customize any dress in her boutique?! Don't want a long train? No problem. Don't like the straps? No worries. Disclaimer: Not going to give a low rating and affect their score, because I ultimately chose to…read morecancel my appointment so I don't think it would be fair to do that without having the full experience. But I did want to leave some info on here in case it might help some other brides, especially other plus sized brides like me. When I first got engaged and started researching Seattle bridal shops, I reached out to Lovely and asked about their plus size selection because I really didn't know what to expect. They responded in writing to me that "all their designers go up to a size 26-32". I took this to mean that as long as I was a bridal size 26 or under, I could order any dress in their store. I was so excited to come shop here because I was obsessed with a particular designer who I felt so connected to based on their unique gowns. Lovely's lookbook portal showed that they had several gowns from this designer in plus size samples in store, including three I was so in love with from pictures. A week before my appointment, I finally took the time to go to the actual designers website, and saw that their size chart stopped 1-2 sizes (based on the measurements in the chart) below mine. I was concerned but thought maybe Lovely knew something I didn't know. When I initially made the appointment, I went as far as to share my actual measurements (not just my street size) and I also emailed them proactively to let them know I was interested in these specific gowns from this specific designer. They responded that I had good taste and they looked forward to having me in. I thought maybe they knew the dresses might be more forgiving than the size chart, or maybe they had a deal with the designer to be able to order made to measure gowns from them. Just to be safe, I reached out to Lovely to specifically ask if I would ultimately be able to order a gown from this designer. It was hard to get in touch with them, as I found they do not answer their telephone. They also need 3-4 business days to respond to emails (fair enough, I totally get that it's busy season). I didn't have that much time before the appointment to get my answer, so I also messaged them on social media when I saw them posting the designer in question on their Instagram story. They eventually responded on social media letting me know that I would not be able to order from that designer in my size. They said maybe I could order a smaller size and have it altered to be bigger, depending on my measurements. These gowns are already so costly, I wouldn't feel comfortable ordering a dress in the wrong size and committing to having it altered to be bigger. I know even simple alterations will likely be expensive as it is, altering to increase the size of the dress doesn't feel right for me personally. I hope maybe there can be more transparency on Lovely's lookbook portal as to what size range is carried by each designer, especially if they are advertising that they carry a designer's plus size/curve samples in store. To give them credit, many shops do not provide this transparency, this is not unique to Lovely. I actually thought Lovely went a step further than other shops by showing online what curve samples they have in store for try on, many other shops don't even do that. If you are plus size, please take this as a caution to look on the actual designer's website before getting attached to any gowns (this is my fault, not Lovely's fault, I should have done that earlier). If you are not plus size I envy you because Lovely definitely has some of the coolest designers of any bridal shop in Seattle, and I hope this info doesn't prevent you from visiting them.

For some additional context, I am a plus sized bride (street size 22/3X). I am pretty picky about clothes and fashion and have high expectations to find a fashionable, special, luxurious dress. I really didn't know what to expect. Would I be able to try on enough dresses to make a decision? Would I have to compromise? I came on a Friday afternoon and was the only bride in the shop. My stylist was Carla. Shoutout to Carla for giving me an amazing experience!!! I was able to try on about 6 dresses during my appointment, and we went a little over the allotted time. Carla took the time to get to know me, to ask my friend about me, asked me all about my wedding and my fiance. She was so sweet, supportive, knowledgeable, and encouraging. At no point did it feel like being plus sized impacted my experience. There were plenty of dresses for me to try in plus size samples and in my price range. We were about to wrap up and re-try the dress that had been my favorite, when I brought up to Carla that there was a dress in the store that I was in love with but it wasn't available in a plus sized sample in-store. Still, she brought it out and then went to talk to the manager to see what they could do to help me really consider it. They both thought we should try to put it on, even though it was a small size. Amazingly, I was able to put it on and have it clipped up and was definitely able to get an idea of what the dress would look like if I ordered it. My friend, Carla, and I all instantly realized it was the one. I was so grateful that she had been so open minded and kind and made it happen for me. She could've easily said sorry, it's not available in a plus sized sample. But she didn't give up and she did what she could to make sure I wouldn't regret walking out of there without trying it. I can't wait to come back for a follow up appointment when my family is in town to show them this dress and very likely order it. If you are a plus sized bride or ANY sized bride please give this place a try.

The dresses can be styled with sleeves or adding more poof layers into your dress so that you can visualize your perfect dress. She has not decided on the perfect dress yet, but they were really helpful still. Her price range was about 1.5k-2k, but there are other price ranges too. Parking near Ballard is mostly street parking for 2 hours. The appointment overall is 1.5 hours. If your appointment starts exactly at 10am they don't open doors earlier for you to come in. You can visit the coffee shop nearby and are allowed to bring your drinks inside the bridal shop when your appointment starts.
