She was so easy to work with, supportive without being saccharine and really knowledgeable about bridal couture. While I didn't ultimately find a gown here, it was a necessary stop on my journey to find a pre-wed or sample gown. I recommend Blue Sky, wholeheartedly, to anyone. Instead, we were immediately met with a harsh and inflexible attitude from our sales associate, Bea. She insisted they could "absolutely not" accommodate more than three guests plus the bride and handled the situation with zero empathy. She also claimed this policy was clearly outlined in multiple emails and signage. That is simply false. I reviewed all of my confirmation and reminder emails--there is no mention of a guest limit anywhere. The way she treated my family was honestly shocking. She upset my godmother to the point of tears and was so rude and dismissive to my mom that she felt uncomfortable enough to leave the store. That alone made the experience heartbreaking. To make matters worse, the professionalism was not there. Bea was dressed in a way that felt unprofessional and completely inappropriate for a bridal boutique, with her midriff fully exposed, which added to the overall uncomfortable vibe. This should have been a special, once-in-a-lifetime kind of experience, and instead it was stressful, awkward, and upsetting. I would strongly discourage other brides from booking here.

Ashley attends New York Bridal Fashion Week twice a year, so she is up to date on all the dress trends and keeps her collection fresh. I never felt pressured to make a certain decision or purchase. Ashley knows wedding dress shopping is a process and respected my opinions and personal timeline. Once I found the wedding dress of my dreams, I was so happy that alterations were also done in-house by the Nyanza team. When I started shopping at other salons, I was surprised that all of the ones I visited did not have their own alteration services and would've required me to find a trusted seamstress. The fact that my entire wedding dress experience was all with Nyanza was such a relief. My alterations were absolutely perfect. I am a very petite bride, but Veronica the seamstress was able to alter the dress as if it was custom made just for me. I had a vision to add lace sleeves to my dress and Veronica also created those from scratch and matched them to my veil. I can't thank Ashley and her team enough for the best experience. For some additional context, I am a plus sized bride (street size 22/3X). I am pretty picky about clothes and fashion and have high expectations to find a fashionable, special, luxurious dress. I really didn't know what to expect. Would I be able to try on enough dresses to make a decision? Would I have to compromise? I came on a Friday afternoon and was the only bride in the shop. My stylist was Carla. Shoutout to Carla for giving me an amazing experience!!! I was able to try on about 6 dresses during my appointment, and we went a little over the allotted time. Carla took the time to get to know me, to ask my friend about me, asked me all about my wedding and my fiance. She was so sweet, supportive, knowledgeable, and encouraging. At no point did it feel like being plus sized impacted my experience. There were plenty of dresses for me to try in plus size samples and in my price range. We were about to wrap up and re-try the dress that had been my favorite, when I brought up to Carla that there was a dress in the store that I was in love with but it wasn't available in a plus sized sample in-store. Still, she brought it out and then went to talk to the manager to see what they could do to help me really consider it. They both thought we should try to put it on, even though it was a small size. Amazingly, I was able to put it on and have it clipped up and was definitely able to get an idea of what the dress would look like if I ordered it. My friend, Carla, and I all instantly realized it was the one. I was so grateful that she had been so open minded and kind and made it happen for me. She could've easily said sorry, it's not available in a plus sized sample. But she didn't give up and she did what she could to make sure I wouldn't regret walking out of there without trying it. I can't wait to come back for a follow up appointment when my family is in town to show them this dress and very likely order it. I would not recommend this shop to anyone. I booked the appointment 2 months in advance, and had to list my wedding date on multiple forms. My appointment was in early September, and my wedding is in May. 8 months is well within the recommended timeline for getting your dress, and every other shop I went to had no concerns with that timeline. I also received a confirmation call a few days before, where a saleswoman wasted my time asking me several pointless questions like "is there anyone who can't come to the appointment that you wish could be there?" During that pre-appointment call, they confirmed my wedding date AGAIN. At no point did I sense any concern or hesitation regarding the information I provided. When I arrived to the appointment, Jennifer greeted us with a very off-putting attitude. She was very abrasive and overly stern, and she overall didn't seem very friendly. She then told me and my guests that there was no way she would be able to get me any dresses from any of their designers in time for my wedding, and that "most brides do this a year in advance." She told me that my only option was going to be off-the-rack, if I could find a dress in my size, because I didn't have time to do alterations. This would have been very nice to know before I kept my appointment and drove up to Seattle. This was also not my first bridal appointment, but it was the first time I had heard any concerns with my wedding timeline. I believe she could have delivered that message in a much nicer way. I also suspect she may have been trying to fear-monger me into purchasing certain dresses that they were trying to sell. The vibe of this shop was very off putting, and that combined with the rude attitude from their saleswomen turned this into a very short appointment. The saleswoman wouldn't even leave me and my family alone for a moment to discuss the timeline and assess our options. She still kept trying to push off-the-rack dresses on me that I had already told her I wasn't interested in. She was also pulling sizes that were clearly much too big for me, which I thought was rude. I felt severely uncomfortable trying on any dresses in front of these people, and ultimately ended up turning around and leaving after only spending about 15 minutes inside. I would not suggest this shop to anyone looking to try on dresses. If this would have been my first experience, the stress and discomfort would have been overwhelming and disheartening. I'm so fortunate that it was NOT, and that I had a wonderful shop in Tacoma to compare it to.
