Huge, disappointing dress
Marissa B.

The actual dress selection, dress selecting experience, and care of the stylists while you are selecting your dress, I would rate 4.5/5 stars (not 5 because I am a street size 8 and the sample sizes are definitely geared towards the less curvy). EVERYTHING else involved with this dress experience outside of the selection appointment and purchase of the dress: 1/5 stars - with the 1 only being for ease of pickup. Let me start with the good: I went in thinking there was a 99% chance I bought a Galia Lahav dress. I thought this so much, that I booked my appointment during the Galia Lahav trunk show, with the 10% discount in mind. The actual appointment process was easy, I got to bring my mother, maid of honor (sister), and one of my bridesmaids. My stylist was absolutely wonderful and listened to everything I mentioned. We pulled a variety of GL dresses, as well as some Sarah Seven dresses I had kept my eye on previously. During the process, I fell in love with the Sarah Seven dress, and even though it was half the price, the stylist agreed that the dress was perfect for me. I looked BANGING, hourglass-y and overall it looked like the dress was made for me. The stylist agreed and she never tried to upsell me whatsoever. She even helped me pick out the perfect veil. This is where the positives pretty much end. The sample dress I tried on was a size 8. It was a bit snug. But zipped up with ease. The stylist calculated my measurements and said I should order a size 14, however, since it was mainly my thighs bringing up the size, she recommended I order a 12. This still sounded so huge considering I fit in the 8, but she convinced me a 12 was best. When I finally got to pick the dress up, I tried it on in studio before I left and it was ENORMOUS on me. I was SWIMMING. I am a 36 D and you could barely tell I had boobs at all. In fact, I looked like a square. The stylists who were there at the moment assured me that the alterations specialist would tailor the dress. When I tried to make an appointment, they told me they were too booked and that I needed to have made an alterations appointment earlier - which I had never been told although I ordered the dress 11 months before my wedding date. Alright, so they gave me a list of 4 recommended alterations specialists, one of which I selected - Fragile Fit. Let me tell you, it only went down from here - you can read my review on the business page if you like. Long story short - The sample size that had me looking like an hourglass goddess was NOT AT ALL the dress I ended up with. While I realize some of this may have been in my control, you would think that after dropping thousands of dollars on a custom ordered wedding dress, and deferring to their expertise, I wouldn't have spent numerous days and hours crying about how much I hated my dress and how terrible it made me feel every time I wear it. After spending thousands on the dress, thousands on picture and video, I am going to throw this dress and it's bad juju away. Now - I AM one of the brides affected by Covid, so this dress was worn to my elopement, and silver lining - I can afford a new dress for my actual large wedding. Will I return to The Dress Theory? Honestly, they are one of the ONLY retailers that carry the brands I am looking for in the Seattle area, so probably yes. However, I will not defer to their expertise since it only led me to disappointment, frustration and tears at every point. I have included photos of me in the sample dress (screenshots from a video of me walking out in it) and of me at my actual elopement where I am actually 8 lbs LIGHTER, and an inch SMALLER in the waist than in the sample dress.

So amazing! Such a quaint little wedding dress shop in north Seattle. I specifically went for a trunk show for the Rue De Seine bridal line. It was amazing! It's open by appointment only. You can call or email. Lots of parking nearby. Since it's by appointment only, I'm assuming you're the only one there, at least that was my experience. The gals are so lovely and helpful. I actually got to meet the designer of Rue De Seine, who helped me at my fitting as well. You can bring your champs, they have little plastic flutes for you. Definitely an amazing place to shop for dresses. I was a "one and done" kind of bride and luckily I was a one stop shop! LOVE this place and Rue de Seine!

A company that excels in customer service. I had an incredible experience with everyone I worked with at Dress Theory (Seattle). Rileigh in particular. I was referred from my sister in-law that bought her beautiful dress here. Valeria treated me to champagne and a fabulous dress session. She brought out the dress that I would wear on my wedding day. It was more than perfect. Unfortunately I had some issues with the dress just weeks before my big day and what could've turned my wedding upside down Rileigh (after hours) answered my call. She had my back and support though out the whole ordeal and did everything possible to make sure I was taken care of. And she did! Overnight FedEx at my doorstep. All I can say, to have a reputation and relationship in taking care of your customers makes a world of difference. I felt like they treated me as their most important care and I will be forever grateful for how my dress turned out! I will absolutely refer everyone I can here because their dresses are personal, beautiful and fit for any special bride but most of all because of the love and care they have for their customers that felt like family. Thank you Dress Theory Family for providing me with my perfect Wedding dress ~Natalie B.

This boutique is so pretty inside! They have very unique beautiful dresses but you can also find the typical ballgown dress there as well if that's what you're looking for. I heard about The Dress Theory through a designer. I really wanted to try on Anna Campbell dresses so I looked on her website who the stockists were. Unfortunately, I didn't know that they didn't always carry Anna Campbell so when I went to my appointment, I was a little disappointed that they only did trunk shows for her. However, there were other designers I wanted to try as well which they did have! I had a picture of a Gala dress on my phone and they had that exact one which ended up being the dress I chose. I worked with Val throughout the whole dress process. She was so sweet! I really enjoyed working with her. The dress I chose was the first one I tried on there but she let me try on a bunch more dresses afterwards for fun. She didn't rush me at all and asked what I was looking for and what I envisioned. I also worked with Rileigh at my last couple fittings and she was super sweet as well! Overall, I had a really great experience here and definitely recommend it if you're looking for something different.

I can't stay enough about The Dress Theory. The Dress Theory was my third dress shop after a whirlwind day of shopping with my mom and sister who were in from out of town. I had my eye on their Jenny Packham and Anna Campbell gowns before I booked my appointment and knew they were the only retailer in Seattle to carry them. When we got to the appointment I was blown away by their unique selection of dresses. They were very unlike the other stores I had been to. Ang, my consultant, was so kind and gave my family and I as much time as we needed. I knew as soon as I put on my Jenny Packham gown that it was the one for me. I went back for a second appointment in August to pick my veil; the owner, Camille, helped me find the most perfect veil to complement my gown. My dress came in ahead of schedule in December before my May wedding! I decided to do in house alterations as my dress had extensive beading. The price was reasonable for the amount of work that needed to be done (I am very short) and the service was great. I was able to have only one appointment and my dress was done. Cristina in alterations was so kind and patient with me when I sent many emails and requests about my alterations. All in all, I couldn't be happier with my experience with The Dress Theory. I received so many compliments on my gown, including from wedding vendors who said my dress was one of the most beautiful and unique they had ever seen. If you are looking for unique, beautiful gowns with the kind, most caring and professional staff, don't look any farther than The Dress Theory!

As someone who wasn't necessarily as excited to go dress shopping as many others may be, the Dress Theory made my experience so easy and fun. Val is absolutely wonderful and picked so many options that were just my style. It didn't feel pushy or fake as I feel so many places can with the bridal stuff. She was just lovely to work with and put me at ease on timing, etc. I ended up rushing my dress and any small snag I hit in the process, they immediately fixed and everything came through as planned. Not to mention the dress was so gorgeous! I'd highly recommend if you want to work with amazing people who know what they're talking about and are truly excited for you and want you to have the best experience.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here at Anthropologie with my stylist, Elle and this was…read moreprobably my favorite shop for the following reasons: 1. Of all the bridal shops I had been to, I enjoyed the selection at Anthropologie the most. I got to try a variety of styles (beaded, lace, sparkles, simple, a-line, fitted, ballgown, etc.) and narrow down what I like, but I really did like a majority of the dresses I tried on here as opposed to the recommendations or selections I saw at other bridal shops. All of the dresses I tried here I rated 7-9/10 for my personal rating and they all fell within my budget (less than 2k). 2. I loved that I could see their inventory online and indicate ahead of time in the booking form which dresses I wanted to try. These dresses were already on my rack and prepared for me when I arrived. Other shops I had been to gave me time to peruse and look around at the beginning which was nice but it definitely ate into the appointment time. 3. The appointment was free and was 90 minutes long. Sometimes, I felt an hour was too short at other places but here I was able to try on all my pre-selected gowns, peruse the racks more, and try on an extra 4-5 gowns I either missed on the website or were new so weren't listed on the website yet. 4. I enjoyed my stylist's help so much. Elle was very helpful in getting the dresses on and off, clipping the sample down, taking pictures for me as I did not have anyone else with me at my appointment, and suggesting alteration points to make the dresses as close to what I wanted as possible. She was very professional and kind. 5. The availability of the dresses was also a big plus. It sounds like, as long as your size is in stock, it is as simple as ordering online and you can have it arrive within a couple of weeks. They mentioned some styles may be back ordered by a month or so but it's nice to hear that I won't have to wait the 6-8 month timeline for ordering a custom dress through a designer. The only downside I would say is parking. Because this is in the heart of downtown, parking will be difficult. I had a friend drop me off and pick me up for my appointment. Overall, really loved my experience here and would highly recommend stopping by if you like what you see on their website.

COVID review: I was…read moreable to come here by making an appointment weeks in advanced. I was only allowed to bring one guest with me as the BHLDN area is a small section of the Anthropologie store. I did bring one more guest but they had to stay in the Anthropologie section as a "shopper". It was still very easy for my second guest to be part of the experience as I had to walk across the store to the regular dressing rooms to try on my dress, since there was another bride trying on dresses in the actual bridal area. The person that helped me was Sophie and she was super helpful. This was my first place I went shopping for wedding dresses and she provided ample information on each dress I tried on. Since the workers cannot come into the dressing room with you, I had my mom help put the clips on my dress and Sophie was able to provide verbal directions that were helpful. Masks were worn by everyone the entire bridal appointment, but I felt that I was still able to envision the dress and I did try on a veil. For my second appointment I made here, I was able to re-try on the dress with a veil to figure out if I truly liked the dress. During this appointment, I went by myself and Sophie was still able to help me. When I needed help with clipping my dress and placing a veil on, she had a glass fixture on wheels that was used to create space between us. There is a hole in the glass where Sophie put her hands through with gloves to apply clips on my dress and a veil. Overall, I had a great experience at BHLDN and was able to find THE dress here. Their prices are super affordable for wedding dresses and felt of great quality. When you place an order with them, they waive shipping fees also. I'd recommend coming here for wedding dress shopping.

Growing up in Seattle, Luly Yang was the first place we went to try on dresses. I was a bit nervous as I usually have a hard time finding dresses that fit perfectly and my mom is super judgmental. Meg and Stephanie greeted us and were so nice and welcoming. We tried on a few dresses and they really set the bar in regards to the fit, material and customer service. We had a few other appointments already set for the week, so I wanted to wait to see those appointments through before deciding and they were so understanding. (We had other studios who really tried to pressure us to purchase day of-even offering discounts). Another plus was there was no fitting fee to try on the dresses - unlike all the other studios we went to. We did end up coming back and getting my dress at Luly Yang. They were amazing through the whole process and they work with you through each step. I loved being able to design my dress and pick out the materials. Luly was also there to help make the dress look perfect and Mei was amazing with alterations. I can't wait to have to another opportunity to work with them in the future!

She, herself, is so inspiring, a beautiful and authentic, powerful, and strong woman with incredible style. Not only my dress, I loved my veil and each part of my dress- Luly and her team were patient with my particular requests and perfect desires. The shop itself smells amazing! The entire environment from the smell to the beautiful pressed gowns in the windows, the white bridal room, the incredibly sweet team, and the attention to detail would make most people believe that the dresses are out-of-this-world expensive however, I think they are priceless because of how special, intentional and personal the entire experience can be. The last year of relationship with my dress, Fatima, Luly and staff has been 5 stars. If your first experience or interaction is less than I am making it out to be, I recommend giving them another chance, meet Fatima, she will meet all her promises and truly make your experience the best she can. Oh and for kicks, my photographer was Peter Mahar, I posted a couple photos- so you can see this perfect dress that made my wedding dreams come true. Enjoy your experience!

There's off-white, cream, ivory, blush and so on and so on, but lavender is a runway color that isn't mass produced. You can imagine my disappointment to find out my options were bridesmaid dresses that didn't have the right 'look'. Then, someone on WeddingWire (forum) recommended looking into a custom made. I wasn't ready to break the bank, and any time I hear "custom made", I freak out a little bit inside. Then I reached out to Chrissy who assured me I can have the dress I want AND it would be affordable. Chrissy was flexible, polite, professional and took all of my ideas into consideration and collaborated on a design with me. The dress needed to be able to withstand humidity as it was going to be designed for a destination wedding in Miami, and accommodate to my dancing (which I did plenty of). During our first fitting, we realized fit-flare just wasn't going to cut it and Chrissy asked how I felt about going closer to mermaid or trumpet design. I was hesitant, but knew I would be in good hands. When I tell you my husband damn near fainted when he saw me, and how our guests' jaws dropped, I can confirm it was all worth it. Chrissy designed a dress that was just for me: simple, elegant, lace accents, and lavender. The wedding dress of my dreams.
