This restaurant was one of the highlights of our trip to NYC! We tried the vermicelli bowl and the chicken pho and hands down, the chicken pho is one of the best pho I've had. The broth was so flavourful and the chicken + noodles were just an amazing combo. I think the vermicelli bowl was pretty average but can definitely say that the beef was really tender - worth the additional money for the beef. We were one of the first people to arrive when they opened - I loved the ambiance of the entire restaurant. I would highly recommend sitting out on the patio - it's the cutest area with vintage clocks and TVs as decor. It's covered but feels outdoorsy - loved the vibe! Lastly, service was great - I can't comment on how they are when they're busier, but we received really good service throughout our meal. Give it a try if you're in the area! It's definitely on the pricier side but it's worth a try at least once! Such a delicious lunch! The crispy brussels sprouts were absolutely perfect - crispy & flaky on the outside, and firm but not hard on the inside. I had the spicy garlic noodles with lemongrass tofu and am so glad I got the "spice" on the side. Those tiny red chili peppers are fire!! I definitely added a few tiny pieces here & there, but it would have been too much spice for me personally if it was mixed in. The dish had a ton of flavor without it too. The ambiance inside was adorable, and staff was friendly & attentive. I will say it was a bit chilly sitting at one of the back tables against the window in winter. It was one of my favorite restaurants in the area but be prepared to wait for at least 45 minutes if you come here on a Friday/Saturday evening ( I waited for about 50 mins before we got our appetizers ). They have been packing up with tons of outdoor seating as the weather turn nicer, which resulted in a longer wait time. I've been here a couple of times but the wait time just got longer as they put more outdoor seating by the sidewalk. I also noticed the dish portion seemed to be significantly smaller and the dishes were rushed so that papaya salad tasted a bit bland than usual and the filling inside the crepe was really sad. When we ordered their most expensive cocktail for $18 (former bartender here) we pull the HUGE ice cube out to find the drink only consists of less than 1/3 of the cup. Then had summer rolls which hit the spot. The stars of the night were the pork belly buns and slow cooked lamb buns. We got three mains for the table. The Bourbon Battered Red Snapper, which was good to the last bite. The Flank Steak Hawker Noodles, were my favorite main. The Cumin Sesame Seed Marinated Chicken was solid, but my least favorite of the three. Overall we all left extremely stuffed and satisfied. I could not have asked for more. This was such an unexpected hit. I wandered in on a cold night and was seated in the backyard, which is a gem and has the coolest ambiance. It's heated and, while I kept my jacket on, it was perfectly fine to sit in on a chilly night. The food was excellent, starting with the absolutely phenomenal crispy imperial rolls. Brunch review. I was apprehensive about the food given some negative / neutral reviews. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and potion sizes of the food. The pork buns were a good size and delicious (great for an appetizer to split). The pork belly hash was AMAZING and the portions were huge. Easily had enough food for 2 people. I'm still thinking about our tasty dinner! We got way too much food between two people, but still managed to nearly finish it all. The papaya salad was refreshing, we paired it with the ginormous imperial rolls. These are not your classic spring roll, but totally worth it! If you think that's plenty of food, you're right- but we didn't stop there! We had the bourbon infused chocolate cake, and needless to say, there was none left on our plates. As for Bricolage, the place is such a hidden gem with an extremely cute patio and decor. There are tons of plants, tv's, and clocks. I don't know how to describe the decor other than trailer trash chic, but that is a compliment! There are tons of miscellaneous items spread out throughout the patio that make for a cool ambiance, but remind me of a junk yard. If you're wondering about covid safety- Bricolage is questionable... though you're technically eating in the patio, it feels like you're still inside. There was a 2' gap in the roof, but there wasn't a second window for the air to flow through. I had a lovely dinner here with a couple of friends. We sat at the bar and had our drinks/meal. The bartenders were super attentive while they were making drinks for the whole restaurant, and they were personable as well. My friends and I built rapport with the staff, and later on, when the owner stopped in, he came over and was talking to us for a little while. It is clear that a lot of work has gone into the creation of the menu and overall restaurant experience. It definitely paid off! The food tasted amazing and the creativity of the cuisine was something not found at just any restaurant. My only hesitation with my review is that the meal was on the pricier side, so I definitely couldn't eat here all the time. The dish was even better with the addition of their super spicy side sauce (ask your waiter for this) and man did it pack a big lovely punch. As great as the food was the service was also fantastic. Our waiter was so friendly and accommodating, giving the best options for me being vegetarian and going out of his way to let my friend order a drink they no longer had on their menu. There were so many good options that among the 3 of us we couldn't help but order a fourth dish just to share. I got the breakfast Banh Mi which was eggs and bacon sandwiched between 2 halves of a toasted baguette with veggies and cilantro. I mean how could that be bad?? The eggs were cooked perfectly and it came with plenty of bacon. My only criticism of the dish was I wish it came with some sort of sauce as overall the sandwich was a little on the dry side. My friend got the crepe which looked and tasted incredible. It came with loads of veggies and was topped with 2 sunny side eggs. To share, we ordered the fish and chips which was honestly amazing and served with an olive aioli. The olive aioli was one of those sauces you could literally eat with anything. If you asked me about my favorite restaurants in NYC, it wouldn't take long for me to mention Bricolage, a French-Vietnamese bistro in Park Slope. So, here we were -- our second time -- and this time I made sure we were seated at the patio. The setting: fabulous! The lights and collections of knick knacks displayed all around, along with greenery make for a very pleasant experience that is not to be forgotten. It works well for a romantic setting, just as it does for a casual moments among friends! We ordered two dishes that were massive hits last time: the slow cooked lamb buns and the maple glazed lamb breast. I think the slow cooked lamb buns at Bricolage are a gift to humanity. WE LOVED THEM AND DESTROYED THEM WITHIN 2 MINUTES. So far, perfect, and I would have dished out another five star but for what followed. The duck dish this time around wasn't the fabulous dish we had last time. I thought the addition of mint this time around ruined it a little, and the crispy skin tasted a bit bitter, which certainly wasn't the case last time around. Our second entree was the Spicy Coconut-Pineapple Curry Sauted Shrimp -- quite a mouthful, literally! Good portions. However, we both expected much better. It seemed a bit disingenuous for a dish containing three measly slices of pineapple to include the latter in its name. Any taste of coconut wasn't to be found, either. And overall, I wasn't sure what to make of it all. The glass noodles were fine, the shrimps were large and tasty, but the overall taste wasn't sweet, or the right kind of salty, and the spice was underwhelming too. We both love Bricolage, and it pained me a little to not give it a second five star, considering how much we loved it the first time around. I went to Bricolage with a couple of my friends for my birthday. Beautiful patio area with wonderfully quirky decor (old TVs, clocks, candles, and plants). However, the "outdoor" patio is covered by an awning and is not that COVID safe, with limited airflow. Food-wise, we got the unshaking beef, spicy garlic noodles with chicken, pork and lamb buns, and banh xeo (Vietnamese pancake). The beef was exceptionally tender and thick cut - easily the tastiest dish we ordered. The restaurant was kind enough split our bun order (2 lamb, 1 pork), which were gone in seconds. The banh xeo was extremely crispy, though I wish there was more seafood in it. The spicy garlic noodles with chicken had a onset spiciness and pleasantly chewy rice noodles. I only wish I had more space to enjoy it all! Drinks were excellent as well - the Mai Tai was very refreshing, and the maple bacon drink had a nice candied and smoked bacon garnish. We had high expectations for this restaurant but the reviews we read did not match our experience. We were disappointed with the service, the food and wine. We started off by ordering two appetizers: the ribs and the crepe. The ribs were barely warm and the crepe was dry and lacked flavor. We had three entrees: chicken pho, beef pho and the cod special. The pho dishes had plentiful meat and good flavor. However, it took 15 minutes between receiving the pho and the cod entree. I finally got our server's attention and he told me "they are plating your dish". When I got the dish, the cod was cooked well but the parsnip and potatoes were barely warm. Finally, the $60 bottle of "red-blend" wine was very light and no where near a medium body. It was very disappointing. Definitely would order the pho again but based on the overall experience, can not recommend. read more

This is a really great spot! I went last night for the second time - I worked for Yelp the first time I went a couple years ago and so I wasn't able to write reviews, so unfortunately the only thing I remember was they had delicious pho that I got that time, but I'm glad to have returned now when I can actually talk about the experience. I went on a Saturday night when they had the street closed off for cars and tables in the street, allowing them for more capacity. We were at a shared table with another party which was unexpected from the reservation, but less noticeable than I had expected. Started with a delicious basil lemonade, and we got the lobster, corn, and scallion crepe to start which was to die for! So good, I could have had like ten more. I HIGHLY recommend getting it. Secondly, we had the vermicelli bowl which was like cold and broth less pho - such a delicious alternative when it's 88 degrees out because you get the delicious texture and flavor of the rice noodles without the heat. We got it with shrimp and it was sooo tasty. We finished with the bourbon infused molten chocolate lava cake which was unreal. FYI, it has raspberries on top, which my friend was allergic to, so heads up if you need to order without because I ended up basically eating the whole thing to myself. It came out at the perfect temperature and was overall delicious. The service was a little slow, and there were some mistakes. They brought us the vermicelli bowl twice, and the molten chocolate lava cake twice, and I feel bad that food likely went to waste. We waited a long time for the first vermicelli bowl too and then like five minutes in a second one came out. Could be a one off day though, so I won't hold it against the star rating. Filled with plants and shelves lined with old-school portable TVs, it's quirky and lush all at the same time. We came for brunch. The service was great, the staff very friendly, and they were mindful of COVID and the heat, making sure we were comfortable. The food was awesome. Start with their Crispy Imperial Rolls. Then roll onto their Chicken & Waffles, which doesn't lack crisp or flavor. There's a layer of seasoning/sauce between the breading and chicken that takes it to new levels. Overall a some of it is bit heavy -- but it works well enough and doesn't ruin the night. The smaller plates are very generously sized and more interesting, so I'd suggest focusing on ordering a number of those and maybe skipping the mains. read more
