The food was good and ready quickly, and service was prompt and nice, but: what is it with hotel restaurants deciding that plastic silverware is fine for a steak? I ended up ripping the meat apart with my hands and teeth because the flimsy plasticware wasn't even pretending to cut anything. They could easily include an actual steak knife on orders that are charged to a room. Otherwise, the steak was well cooked, there were plenty of green beans, and the fries were perfectly crispy. read more

For us, this restaurant was an oasis after a long day of travel delays and cancellations. Being inside the Marriott Chicago O'Hare, this place gets a lot of weary travelers, and treats them well. Imagine walking in an hour before close on a quiet Sunday night and being greeted with a warm smile, fantastic service, and very good food! We were here at the Marriott for a day and tried all three meals - breakfast lunch and dinner at this restaurant. Pros: We tried the Marriott cheeseburger (4.5/5), curry chicken sandwich (3.5/5) and one of the breakfast sandwiches (4.5/5) the lettuce, tomato and onions in the burgers and sandwiches were very fresh. I give a few less points for the dishes as the meat in all the dishes were under seasoned. But the condiments made up for it. The quality of the meat and buns/breads were very good. My wife loved their hash browns and I liked their sweet potato fries. Cons: The regular fries were very soggy. We tried their bagel and cream cheese, and it was a bagel from Walmart and the Philadelphia cream cheese for 8 dollars. The breakfast buffet was overpriced at $28 with very limited options in the buffet. The lunch and dinner menu are the same with very limited options. Also, I hate it when a place has a full bar and no drink menu. So, we just order what we want and then they charge us exorbitant amounts for the drinks. read more

Ordered omelette that came with hash brown and toast. Omelette was overcooked and bland. The hash brown was the worst I ever had - It was dry and extremely tough. Appeared like a pre made disk shape which someone may be threw into a toaster oven. Stay away unless you want mediocre food overpriced just because it's inside Marriott. I had the short rib and the polenta was Not flavorful and was clumpy. The absolute best part of my dinner was my waitress. What a sweetheart , her name was Angela. A while ago, my girlfriend and I stayed at the Chicago Marriott O'Hare for a couple of days. During our first night, there was a severe thunderstorm that persuaded us to dine in instead of braving the dangerous elements. Down stairs, we went! The Brickton is spacious, comfortable (hey, super plush carpet), and classy (in an old "I smoke a lot of cigars and wear a sports coat all the time" kind of way). For residing in a hotel, it surprisingly has a poppin' buzz! When we first walked in, we were enveloped in what I call the Post-Conference Cacophony. It's where people that attend a conference for work finally have some free time and let their hair down or unbutton their collars over some drinks with strangers/ new professional friends. A room can easily fill with the belches of loud fake laughs. Thankfully, with so much seating available, finding a private and quiet table was no problem. Bricketon's staff members rock! Ernie, our server that night, was by far the friendliest and smiliest person we met during our stay in Chicagoland. (Ernie, if you're reading this, please know that you're awesome!) We couldn't ask for anyone better! Unfortunately, the food just did not match up to the atmosphere and service. Really too bad. We started off our meal with some complimentary bread and butter, which neither of us found appetizing. I think the buns were a pretzel bread of some sort, and it just reminded me of ones from a grocery store that were left out too long on the dining room table. But whatever, I looked forward to enjoying the entrees, anyway. My girlfriend ordered the quesadilla ($9), which had a spread of guacamole, diced tomatoes, and sour cream. Even though I was starving, after several bites, I couldn't stomach anymore. As for me, I got the shrimp cocktail ($11), which came with only five measly shrimps and a cocktail sauce. You would think for the price, I would get more than that. In addition, it wasn't even in a cocktail glass, rather in a small jar. That dish was just underwhelming. Luckily, their drinks somewhat salvaged my meal. Thank you whomever made my Moscow Mule ($12). Thank you. Overall, I would give the food a 2/5, my drink a 3/5, and Ernie a 5/5. I think a 3/5 is more than fair. If I stayed in this Marriott again, unless the Brickton totally redesigned their menu, I would only return for the drinks and great service. read more

Stay away from the hotel restaurant. We were hungry and tired after a long travel and decided to give restaurant a try and was disappointed with the food and service. Loved the buffet breakfast here! An omelet made to order, pastries, yogurt, cottage cheese, fruits, pancakes, waffles (made to order), fresh juices, coffee.... I'm actually quite impressed with the buffet served here. The only downside is, the lady who makes the omelets is very UNATTENTIVE. My friend and I ordered two omelets, mine came out right, and my friends was the complete opposite of what she had ordered (Ie. whole eggs instead of egg whites, cheddar instead of mozzarella, no ham when she had asked for ham...) The omelet Chef really needs to step up her game (she also needs to be able to multi-task and make more than one omelet at a time WITHOUT burning them!) There's a reason there is 4 range-tops in front of you and 4 skillets! sorry for the rant, but I ended up waiting about 10 minutes each day for her to make my omelet. A bit ridiculous. On another note... My waitress (same one both days) was very attentive and welcoming. She would chat about the weather and current events which was great. Told me a few cool sites to check out. Overall, I would recommend this place as a great place to eat breakfast. The Brickton Restaurant and Bar is your only drinking & dining choice within the Chicago Marriott O'Hare hotel, and fortunately the recent hotel renovations included a full makeover of the lobby area, including the restaurant and bar The bar area is right off the main lobby with plenty of high-top stools and long tables, and lots of flat screen TVs over the bar. The place gets crazy busy in the evenings, and so expect the noise level to be rather high. Behind a comfy living room-type lobby you'll find the Brickton Restaurant which also stays busy all day long. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu is classic American cuisine served in a contemporary atmosphere. Since I was still full from our big steak dinner the night before, I just wanted something light for breakfast, and settled on a yogurt and granola parfait with a side of fresh berries and a cup of hot tea. I was able to wrap up a quick breakfast business meeting, and then hopped the shuttle van back to O'Hare and the flight home. read more

This is purely a review of the bar. Easygoing drinkers rejoice. Snobs beware. While there will surely be one suitable libation for each of your particular predilections, like most hotel bars within this category of hotel top notch choices are found to be lacking. I opted for scotch this evening and had three options of which I sprang for Glenlivet 12 (not a bad option all things considered). The beer selection is about the same, finding two beers that could truly be called craft. You also will not find the makings for all your more unique drinks (Campari, negroni, Fernet, etc). Nevertheless, what they do they do well. If I am wrong about any of this it is because the bottles are impossible to make out and I was not offered a bottle list, though I did not ask for one. The staff is nice and attentive. The people are caring and apologetic even when they don't need to be. The ambience is dim and upscale. Granite counters and a few isolated hang out areas give room for larger parties. The music is really pop heavy, but played at the right level. There are a few TVs for sports, but the sound is off - which I like. You can order full meals at the counter and people seemed to be happy with their choices. It all smelled and looked good, even for 11pm. All in all, if you are looking for a drink and you are staying in the hotel, you can't go wrong here. Head on down and tie one on. If you are going out of your way to visit this bar, turn around and head back toward the city. read more

I was at the AMA center in Chicago for a two-day seminar. Because it's Chicago in March, the most convenient lunch option was the Brickton in the Marriott simply because it's attached by sky walk. And I'm glad it was convenient because it was also delicious. The In and Out lunch special is a half sandwich with a cup of soup and your choice of chips or fruit. On day one, I had that with the cheddar ale soup, a soup of the day, with a turkey BLT, and the fruit. There was a ton of food (the cup of soup is more comparable to a bowl), and it was all wonderful. I went back on day two and had the Brickton salad, which was a huge salad full of smoked chicken, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, pretzel pieces, and topped with a lemon vinaigrette. Service both days was excellent. Servers were conscious of timing and pleasantly responsive to the group needing separate checks. If you're at the Marriott or the AMA center, don't overlook Brickton just because it's the "hotel restaurant." read more

While on a recent stay here, I ended up having 2 meals here because of the convenience being at the hotel itself. My first meal was lunch on a Friday. The place was pretty empty, because honestly, who wants to eat at a hotel as oppose to exploring outside. Me, of course LOL. They had a decent number of lunch options and a full bar. We did partake in some adult beverages and they were made correctly, not weak drinks. As for the food, I liked that they gave options of side to allow one to chose to be a bit healthier, if you wanted. I had the turkey BLT with a side salad and it was fine. The turkey was smoked and the meat was not as moist as I would have liked. It wasn't dry, it just wasn't as pull apart, if that makes sense. The waitress was nice and didn't rush us. My 2nd meal was at the breakfast buffet. I was pretty hungry so I got my plate and started to go down the line of the typical breakfast buffet food, Oatmeal, potatoes, pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, pre-made egg muffins, yogurt, options of cereal/toast/pastries. Anyhow, so I load my plate and then i see a make a fresh omelette and/or waffle station! WHATTT I wish I saw this sooner. Maybe it's the layout that needs work as its a long row that everything is in. So you better believe I told the rest of the people I knew about it lol. I felt a bit bad for the lady working there as there were a lot of people wanting omelette's so she was busy, but it was yum. You had your option of veggies & cheese. Staying at the hotel. There are plenty of local food options but I was exhausted. Decided to risk the 3 star spot. I was pleasantly surprised. The Caesar salad was crisp and cold with a perfect dressing ratio. I had the beef short ribs. Maybe could have been a bit more tender in one or two spots. Parm polenta was just delicious and the roasted Brussels sprouts were nearly (nearly) as good as mine. All-in-all a great dining experience. read more

We ordered a mushroom burger and a chicken quesadilla but substituted the chicken with mushroom. The service was pretty nice and the ambiance was obviously nice since it was inside the Marriot. I bought a Yelp deal for the first time! But this place didn't know about the deal so when it came to the check, it was a teensy bit time consuming...also I couldn't use the 10% off for checking-in because I was using the Yelp Deal...which doesn't make sense because I should be able to use the deal like I would use a gift card...but whatever... We had 3 meals while staying here and were pleasantly surprised. Meal 1 was dinner. I had landed earlier in the day and my friend took me for an afternoon & evening around town. After a long day exploring, we decided to just grab a bite at the hotel. My friend had the "Turkey BLT", he said it was one of the best sandwiches he'd ever had and loved the lemon mayo they used. I was having some acid reflux issues (TMI, yeah...sorry!) so I went with the "Brickton Chicken Soup", described as "Slow roasted Indiana Amish chicken, ton of veggies, egg noodles, fire roasted Iowa corn". I don't see a "ton of veggies" but I didn't care this was goooood soup! Just for good measure, I added a side of "Loaded Mashed Potatoes" and I was disappointed. They were lukewarm and just sort of blah, not quite "loaded" enough for my taste and the potatoes didn't have the buttery creaminess I wanted. Meal 2 was breakfast. With the room came a free "Good Start buffet" but we were told that for $5 we could get the $18 full breakfast buffet. Feeling less "reflux-y", I went for it. Wanting to start the day with a light meal, my friend stuck with the "Good Start" which still had a number of offerings; cold cereal, oatmeal (with add-ins like brown sugar, raisins, milk, bananas, berries) and bread, bagels, English muffins (with butter, cream cheese, jam, honey, etc...). Meal 3 was breakfast again and this time we both went for the upgrade. It included all the stuff in the "Good Start buffet" PLUS omelets, eggs, pancakes and French toast made-to-order, a hot buffet with Eggs Benedict, breakfast meats including a couple specialty sausage types, a few kinds of breakfast potatoes, croissants, muffins, pastries, breakfast sandwiches, fresh fruit (apples, oranges, fruit salad), carafes of fruit juice and the list goes on! Scarily enough, I think I tried a little bit of almost everything but the cereals or bread. Both days the buffet was delicious and fresh. Service at the Brickton somewhat lacking in timeliness (it seemed like there wasn't enough staff for the number of guests). Little things like getting a coffee refill, a pitcher of half & half or a glass of water took far too long. Despite that issue, we were happy with the staff who tried to be as accommodating as possible & very friendly. read more

I got in late on a plane and was happy to see that the Marriott's bar was still open on a Sunday night. I took a seat at the bar after checking in and settling down my hotel room, and was immediately welcomed by the bar tender Melissa. Melissa asked me if I wanted a drink, and I asked for an opinion on a beer. She asked what my style and taste was and offered me a taste of Half Acre, which I never had before. I really love it when I am offered a taste of a new beer before I buy it. Great first impression of a place. I liked the Half Acre, and ordered a glass and asked how the venison was. Melissa said she just had it in a tasting and loved it, so I took the bait. I sipped on my beer, watched Sunday night football and made friends with Marty, an attorney from St. Louis who said the wine selection was great too. My venison came out a little slow, about 20 minutes. It was dressed well, but the meat was small in portion. The sides were ample though, and tasted amazing. The venison was good, but not great. It was cooked to perfection though and I would recommend it if someone was looking for a decent venison on the bone. Melissa did ask how it was and I was honest, which she apologized for. It was a nice touch to the service. Overall, the service was A+, beer selection A+, and food A-. read more

Nice little place to grab lunch, they had a soup and sandwich special that was actually really good. Exceeded my expectations. The bean and kale soup was really, really good!! The service from the bartender was spot on as well. They can make most Starbucks drinks here also if your looking for a little pick me up. A few beers on tap, a few bottled, wine and liquor as well. Prices are a little steep in my opinion but it was very good, so really, no complaints. read more

Hotel staff is attentive and friendly. The bar is expensive, but they make a tasty Moscow Mule. Food selections are great, I stayed over 8 days here and the food was always spot on. My favorite dishes were: 1. The Market Mixed Green Salad (subbed bleu cheese w goat cheese) and added grilled chicken 2. The Summer Watermelon Salad...pistachio vinaigrette is so fresh and light. 3. House Made Fettuccine (the Andouille is spicy but good) I also had it grilled chicken and it was even better! read more

I normally don't eat at hotel restaurants but I wanted to meet a friend near O'Hare so checked out Brickton at the O'Hare Marriott. I took a look at the web site before I headed out to Park Ridge and really liked the menu, it looked like there were a lot of great steak / meat options. The web site really made the restaurant seem more like a "non-hotel" restaurant (unique branding, menu etc.). The restaurant has a nice layout but once we set down it felt like another hotel restaurant (I had the impression that we were the only people eating there who did not stay at the hotel) . When we received our menus the items on them were different than the web site. When I ask the server about this he just shrugged shoulders. The service was average, once I had to ask another waiter to get our server but it wasn't bad either. The dinner was fine but again it felt like food you would expect in a hotel restaurant by the airport there was nothing unique about the meal.. nothing that motivated me to drive back to the Marriott for dinner. There is free parking which is nice, just present your ticket to the hostess and she will validate for you. I probably would not eat at this restaurant again as there are many options in the O'Hare area unless I was meeting someone at the Marriott. read more

Service was great and attentive and the menu was a great selection of healthy fare, meat dishes, salads, and starters. I picked the flank steak and loved it. It was very well marinated. Decided to go simple tonight. I ordered a Caesar chicken salad, French onion soup and a side of fries. A glass of Syrah to compliment my meal. The soup was just alright. There were pieces of bread floating under a layer of cheese. The salad was bland and the chicken was cold and very dry. The croutons were hard as rock which made it even worse. The only thing that I found satisfying was the fries! Felt I had no choice but to come here because it was late and the restaurant is conveniently located inside the hotel.
