The breakfast buffet was included with my Globalist stay. They are located in the atrium of the hotel which is standard with all Hyatt Regency. They have great hours starting at 6am which we needed for our early morning flight. They are open only for breakfast. They have plenty of chefs to cook including a cook to order Omelet station. They have a server come around and clean up your dirty plates. The dining area is very dark. So dark you might miss the pastries that are off to the side. The lay out of the buffet is odd. Nonetheless the variety of food is good. My favorite at this buffet were the smoked salmon, cheese Blintz, croissant, chicken sausage and the make your own omelet. They have a coffee machine that gives you 6 different options but i found it lacking. They have juice and plain coffee a well. This is a standard Hyatt Regency Buffet. I'm very thankful for it. Intro: After getting stranded in Chicago (the joys of traveling sometimes), the airline put me up at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare. The morning before having to head back to the airport, I stopped by O'H American Grill for breakfast. Not the most exciting name for a restaurant but I did redeem my $25 travel credit and had to pay a few dollars extra for this breakfast buffet. Service (4/5): After checking in with the hostess and paying at the front, I was told I could sit anywhere. Since it's a buffet, service isn't much of the experience. Though there is a guy working who will make you a fresh omelet. Ambiance (3.5/5): Pretty much your typical hotel restaurant in terms of decor. It's a spacious restaurant so there's plenty of seating which is nice. Drinks (3.5/5): Your typical breakfast options. Tea, coffee, orange juice, and apple juice is what I remember. Nothing unique. Food (3/5): Beyond the omelets to order (I went with one with ham and cheese), they have a good number of choices. Your usual suspects for the most part. Bacon, breakfast sausage, fruit, bread, cereal, breakfast potatoes, yogurt, etc. The food was about average in my book. Much better than the free breakfast at a low-budget hotel, and I appreciated the variety, but nothing really stood out. My friends and I dropped into O'H American Grill for dinner. Overall, O'H American Grill offers good service and good food. I had the chicken noodle soup and the filet mignon. First off, the chicken noodle soup was THE BEST CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP I'VE EVER HAD. The broth was delicious, and the soup contained a matzo ball and a dumpling in addition to all the normal fixings. The filet mignon, however, was less impressive. The steak was definitely tender and cooked to a perfect medium-rare, the way I had requested it be done. However, I felt that it was too salty and that the saltiness drowned out much of the flavor. read more

Stop by here for lunch with a coworker since it was close to the site. Got a caprese panini but it was nothing impressive. For the east coast peeps, we have a place called Wawa, which is a convenient store and they make paninis too. I must say I would have rather gone to a Wawa than here for their food. It was average at best and it did not wow me on it's flavor. The only reason I would give this restaurant a three out of five stars would because of the service. The waitress was really kind and they refilled our glasses quite often. I needed it since the sandwich was kinda dry. Overall, the service out did the food. read more

I was staying at the Hyatt for a conference in late October 2019 and had a few meals here during that stay. The 1st was on a Monday around 2:15 PM for a late lunch with a colleague. We had both landed at O'Hare from DC a couple hours earlier and were too lazy to find any other options before a 3:30 PM meeting, so we headed down here. The restaurant has some neat-looking décor when you approach, but upon closer inspection, it could've been cleaner. The water glass on my colleague's side of the table had some debris on it, and the booth seating had crumbs on it. I ordered the primavera gnocchi, which was labeled vegan on the menu. I'm not regularly vegan, but if something on the menu looks appealing and is also vegan, I tend to gravitate to it. The gnocchi came in a very generous portion, with a lot of big pieces of veggies dispersed throughout (including squash, broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots). I was pleased with the amount of vegetables, and the overall size of the dish wound up being too much for me to finish. The flavor was a bit lacking though; the gnocchi was relatively plain and dry. My gnocchi came out with a side of parmesan, which I didn't touch. It might've helped with the flavor if I'd used it, but it seemed to beat the purpose of ordering something vegan to begin with. The gnocchi was over $17 after tax (but before tip); this seemed reasonable for the portion if you're able to finish it, but a bit steep for lunch if you're not. Based on the lunch, I probably would've given the restaurant 2 stars, but a few nights later, we had a company dinner at the restaurant. Our company had opted for the buffet, and I found the options were more flavorful than my previous lunch. Specifically, the chicken and the carve-to-order prime rib were pretty tender and tasty, as well as the parmesan mashed potatoes and vegan split pea soup. There were also a variety of desserts on offer, including lemon pound cake, brownies, cookies, and rhubarb crumble. I got the Oreo cheesecake and thought it was pretty good. Based on my experience, I would recommend going for the buffet (which is available for both lunch and dinner) over the menu, as I think you get more for your money that way. The restaurant wasn't busy either time I visited (both were on weekdays/weeknights). The service was friendly and reasonably efficient. read more

O'H American Grill is located in the Hyatt Regency O'Hare hotel. We eat at this restaurant for dinner every year when we go to the Fest for Beatles Fans and this most recent time was the best ever. They have great staff retention and we recognize the servers from year to year. They had a buffet that offered lamb, chicken and white fish, soup, a salad bar and dessert bar. My husband and father went back to the buffet several times and cleaned their plates. I believe the buffet was $22 per person. The only complaint was that the food wasn't labeled so they weren't always sure what they were eating. They bring bread to your table- Italian and wheat and refill your water glasses very attentively. I ordered off the dinner menu. I had the maple glazed pork tenderloin with potato dumplings and peas- WOW- it was absolutely delicious! The meat was cooked perfectly, it tasted amazing and it was presented beautifully on the plate. I am already making plans to return. I think that my meal cost $15. We were impressed with the attentiveness and friendliness of the staff which was better this time than in previous visits. The food were served half an hour after we ordered. And all of the food were cold. We ordered a burger , a chicken pasta and a chicken soup. I lost my appetite right away when I saw my pasta, there were big chunks of chicken on top of the pasta, no source no cheese, no black pepper. And whats more horrible, the potato in the chcken soup were not cooked! The server was nice but the food were horrible! This review is not about the food taste, it is about its operation. Surprised to find that the dinner is not always available anymore. It depends on hotel occupancy! I stayed at this hotel a couple times a year, but this new finding caught me unprepared. I invited guests to the hotel for dinner. When I went to the restaurant at 6 pm, I saw a sign saying the restaurant is closed tonight. I asked if it is closed for good. The answer is no, depending on hotel occupancy. I totally understand efficiency, but it also makes this restaurant un-accountable. I am not sure if the employees are happy. During breakfast time, they seem to be tired and uncaring. read more

Ok, so it was Thanksgiving and I had a rough a day at work...I got my coat taken and switched out, it was Thanksgiving and I was away from my man :( I arrived at my hotel and I was starving and needed a glass of wine. I came down to the American Grill, and so glad that I did. I decided upon Reisling wine and some Lobster bisque soup. The server offered me butter and bread and I said sure. The bread was perfect and so was the soup. I placed an order of crab stuffed salmon with rice, cause I needed a break from chicken. Anyhow, my dish came and it was beautiful! I ate until I couldn't eat anymore! It was a beautiful dish and delicious, I wish I got one or the other, cause I was stuffed like a Thanksgiving turkey. Considering O'H American Grill is located inside the Hyatt Regency O'Hare, the hotel restaurant isn't bad. I didn't actually dine-in, but had a $50 credit to my room, which I used to get room service breakfast. The Hyatt offers a cool feature allowing you to pre-order your room service using your smart phone, which I forgot about so I didn't use. The cut-off time to order breakfast for the next day using the phone or door hanger was midnight, which I didn't make in time, so I placed an order off my room's TV. My Natural Grilled Chicken Hash & Egg Whites ($13.50), along with my OJ ($3.50), arrived exactly at the requested time of 6:30 am. Expecting the usual bad, dry and bland hotel food, I was pleasantly surprised to find that my breakfast was edible, even tasting quite good. The chicken was freshly grilled and the eggs were real eggs (none of that powdered egg crap), and the cherry tomato compote was a nice topping over my healthy breakfast. Water was also given, as well as a side of complimentary muffins and pastries, such as a mini croissant, which I devoured. If I were to stay at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare again, I definitely wouldn't mind grabbing room service from here again! The hotel makes it super easy and convenient to order without leaving your room (or if you're not in the area), and the food is tasty enough. read more

Really a 3.5. We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights so I had breakfast here 5 times and lunch once. That makes me an expert - LOL. We upgraded to a package that included a buffet breakfast but had to laugh when we realized it only saved us $3 a day on the buffet (from $18 to $15). For breakfasts, the buffet included your choice of omelets made to order, healthy veggie fritatas, scrambled eggs, 2 types of sausages, bacon (not always crispy - insert sad face), pancakes, and oatmeal. They had yogurts, cereals, some fresh fruits (though not a huge variety). Loved the rye bread, topped by a hunk of cheese you carve yourself out of a huge wedge. Never-ending coffee and orange juice. Otherwise, it was a fairly bland set of offerings. If you tend to eat in volume, the breakfast items are pricy enough that it's worth it to go for the buffet. A la carte, breakfast items were in the $12-$15 range any way. read more

This place is actually pretty good for a hotel restaurant. The food was fine but it was the customer service that earned all these stars! From the second I walked up to the moment I left, the staff was so friendly, so welcoming, I really wondered if I was in a higher end restaurant versus the fucntional restaurant in the center of this busy convention hotel. The host was so gracious in welcoming me and even though I was a party of one, he sat me at a large circular booth so that I could spread out. He also asked if I was there for the "McDonald's meeting" (I was) and then he generously thanked me for my business. Wow! Impressive customer service. And my server and busser also went out of their way to make sure my coffee up was never empty or that I had everything I needed. In terms of food, they have a buffet but I chose to order off the menu. My breakfast came up quickly and was good. And the coffee was strong and black. And the prices are in line with a hotel restaurant. But what I will remember from this visit will be the warmth of the staff and the host who really acted like he was happy I was there. This was an awesome hotel restaurant!!! It seems like they pick a lot of fresh produce and had a seasonal menu. It's definitely a plus that makes me want to come back for a hotel stay or meetings. I got their salmon with season roasted veggies and it was a delicious dish. The salmon was cooked well and the veggies were great. I also got their smoothie which was pretty good. They had a brunch buffet with chicken sausage, pork sausage, bacon, danishes, cereal, yogurt, home fries, scrambled eggs, an omelette bar, and fruit. All for about $22/person. This restaurant is inside of the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Very convenient if you do not want to go out of the hotel and the food is not that bad. It's just expensive. Your appetizers are going to be around $10 or more with your entrees coming in just about under $20. I got the all you can eat buffet. It had pot roast, grilled salmon, salad bar and some sort of oriental chicken tray. The taste for everything is mediocre. I mean, everything just tasted bland from the soup to the sauce in everything. I think for $22 buffet, it may have been better to get a entree for $14 or something. The decor is defintely nice and I can't say too much about the service since the buffet was self served. But given the look of the place and the price, it expected a more WOW factor. I'm not knocking the restaurant for price or service but the food definitely use an upgrade. Eat here if you don't want to get out of the hotel. Otherwise, head over to the other hotel restaurant (there's two of them in the hotel) and get something there. Now, I didn't eat at the other restaurant because it was packed. And seemed more like a bar than a restaurant. But yeah, you can also drive 5 to 10 minutes and get some better food. read more

My oh my... I have been too busy lately with Midterms, Birthday Party, Finals, work, Anime Central, Flying to Korea, Going to Lollapalooza... Well, I am back! Time to review an epic breakfast I had at Hyatt Regency O'Hare's American Grill. Atmosphere: Management really took the time to make this hotspot within the hotel stand out. Seats were comfortable and plush. Modern furnishings and bold art pieces gave you something to appreciate in your surrounding. Everything was kept clean, and it feels really great to be watched by people passing by wishing they the money to eat the food being served. This atmosphere would also be great for dates. It is not very noisy at all and there is enough space between tables for intimate conversations. Service: The staff was very friendly from the moment the host seated you. Every server and chef was a pleasure to have an exchange with. The omelette chef that morning was especially cheerful when he was making me my delicious omelette. It is also rare to find a staff of waiters so attentive. I could feel them reading my facial expression and body movements whenever I needed something. Glasses were always filled, and butter and other condiments were prompt to appear when requested. Food: I shed a single tear the first time I came for the breakfast buffet for the first time. Never doubt the $18+ buffet, it is worth every penny. There are breakfast items from around the world and many gluten free options. Pita Bread with Hummus, Miso Soup, and all the fresh fruits! The Omelette chef made Omelettes to your exact specification as well. Is this what it feels like to have Breakfast like a god? The ingredient choices for Omelettes were plenty. I had an amazing Omelette with mushrooms and diced tomatoes. But my favorite item was.... The Chicken sausage. Was never a fan of sausage ever until this point in my life. It is a food I can't really compare to anything else. It is Tender, Juicy, and.... Just Good! This place is a good reason itself to stay at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare lol. I never expected to wake up that day enjoying the breakfast of my life. Dinner here is about 4/5 stars for the price, but still worth enjoying at the second half of your day. Who knew breakfast could be so special? This is a place I look forward to every anime convention at the Hyatt. I would also like to give this my Stamp of Approval for places to take girls! I had a lovely dinner here a few months ago when I was staying at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare. This restaurant is located in the lobby area of the Hyatt and conveys the feeling of space and sophistication. We came here because we were at a convention at the hotel and it was convenient, so I was very surprised to discover that not only was the food excellent but reasonably priced to boot! I ordered the smoked chicken pasta with bacon and mushrooms for $16.00. It had a creamy sauce that was quite lovely! The chicken was tender and juicy, the pasta cooked perfectly, and the sauce was sheer perfection. There was plenty of food to fill me up! I'm not in Chicago often, but I'll definitely be back for another meal the next time I'm here! read more

I'm staying at the Hyatt for a few days for a conference. This restaurant was offering a conference special for $16 lunch buffet for conference attendees. The restaurant is small and doesn't accommodate quite as many people as necessary when there is a big conference there. The buffet had a few hot dishes and a nice salad bar but there was really not anything outstanding on the buffet. I will say that I for $16 I got a sit down meal in a place where they could charge whatever they wanted since its basically a captive audience. It did look like some of the things off the menu that were coming out of the kitchen looked good Maybe I will try them again and rather than getting the buffet, order from the menu. read more

I was actually pleasantly surprised with my lunch here. I was staying across the street at the Hilton and came here because the restaurant where I was at was pretty small. Was worried it would be really busy but it wasn't and we were seated right away and had really good service. I had the salmon blt with fruit and it was good! My colleagues had the lettuce wraps and the club sandwich and both said it was good as well. The only thing I'd complain about was the price, but it's expected in this area. read more

I have had lunch here a few times when attending conferences at the convention center. The food is pretty tasty for a hotel restaurant, and the portions huge. The service is strange -- from intrustive and overbearing (the manager-type guy) to hands off and aloof (my waitress basically ignored my food needs [and didn't ever bring me a bread plate/basket], but once I had the check in hand, she wanted to chat a lot about books). I keep coming back, though, because I can sit with a book for almost 2 hours and not be pressured to keep ordering things. read more

I've never seen so many expert staff so well prepared at a large event breakfast buffet. Everything was well stocked and refilled before it ran out. Seating and service was super fast. The food quality was also awesome... great flavor, temperature, variety, and freshness. Even the made to order omelettes were fast and flavorful. Price was great. Not too bad, especially for a hotel restaurant (4stars is relative to hotels -- 3 stars otherwise I imagine). Very good coffee, good steak sandwich, good side salad. Steak was well cooked, which surprised me somewhat. Perhaps it helped that there was basically no one else there at the time, so my food got the full attention from the kitchen. Chocolate bread pudding is good, but huge. Chunk of eggshell made it in, unfortunately. And would be better with vanilla, not chocolate ice cream. The service was very good, perhaps also because I was basically the only person there. As for the atmosphere and layout, the design of the space lets it stay surprisingly quiet even when the lobby is crowded. Open yet "blocked off", private without feeling confined. Based on the other, more positive reviews here, I feel like I have to assume we just happened to visit on an atypical day. We came for the buffet lunch ($20 per person). Buffet offerings included many of the same things that were on the regular lunch menu, so we figured it was good to go ahead and have some of everything. The buffet included: -salad bar -rice pilaf -zucchini cheese bake -pan seared tuna -sauteed chicken -gravy? -some type of beef -whole wheat buns, lettuce, cheddar cheese, tomato Salad bar didn't have bacon bits, but everything else you would expect on a salad bar. Every other menu item listed above was bland. Maybe they forgot salt, and other seasonings? Maybe there was a shortage at the spice supplier. Maybe it's me and my weird taste buds. I didn't die, so that's good. That said, this wasn't a great dining experience. First, they didn't offer us a kids menu. I had to look online for it. When we ordered the listed sun butter and jelly sandwich (good for our kid with nut allergy), it arrived without sun butter. The waitress explained (after we'd been served) that the menu had changed, and that the item wasn't offered anymore. So why were we not informed before the food was served so we could pick something else? I don't know. The fries were overdone. The falafel sandwich came with wooden skewers, one of which had broken off inside and poked me in the soft pallet. The kids menu ("By Kids/For Kids") didn't seem to have many things kids would actually like on it (organic tossed chopped salad?), though my experience with ordering for kids is limited to mine. Good mashed potatoes, and the fruit salad was good. My wife liked her chicken quesadilla. read more
