(5 stars? That's adorable. I'd give 47.)…read more I came to Pure Mex expecting tacos. Instead, I had a spiritual awakening. Our server, Ruth, did not simply "wait tables." Ruth orchestrated an experience. I am now convinced she exists outside the normal laws of physics. I'm fairly certain she can hear when a tortilla is overcooked from three zip codes away. Before I even realized I wanted another drink, Ruth had already appeared beside the table like some kind of benevolent taco guardian. I blinked once and the salsa was refilled. I blinked twice and somehow my life had direction again. The food? Incredible. But honestly, I would've eaten drywall if Ruth recommended it. That's the level of trust she inspired. Scientists should study her efficiency. NASA should recruit her. The Olympics need a "Hospitality Decathlon" because she'd retire undefeated. If she ever decides to run for president, I don't care what her platform is. She has my vote. At one point I said, "This is probably the best taco I've ever had," and Ruth smiled with the calm confidence of someone who already knew that would happen six months ago. I genuinely suspect Ruth is running at least four restaurants simultaneously using advanced cloning technology. There is no other explanation. By the end of the meal I wanted to stand up and applaud. Not because dinner was over--but because I had just witnessed greatness. The tacos were phenomenal. The margaritas were fantastic. But Ruth... Ruth is the reason legends are written. Future civilizations will uncover this Yelp review and assume she was a mythical figure, like Hercules, except armed with chips and salsa instead of a club. If you visit Pure Mex and Ruth is your server, cancel the rest of your plans. You're about to experience customer service so elite it should probably require a waiver. 10/10. Would gladly drive across state lines, through a snowstorm, and possibly a minor volcanic eruption just to have Ruth ask me, "Would you like anything else?"

4.5/5 Stars Pure Mex…read moreTacos & Tequila in Grandville was a great experience from start to finish. We kicked things off with the shrimp ceviche--and it honestly felt like there was a pound of shrimp in it... okay, maybe not quite that much! It was loaded with fresh shrimp, had incredible flavor, and was beautifully presented. A fantastic way to start the meal. For the entrée, the carne asada was cooked to perfection. The steak was tender, juicy, and full of flavor, topped with plenty of perfectly grilled onions. It came with authentic rice, beans, fresh avocado, guacamole, and warm flour tortillas, making every bite even better. We also tried the carne asada tacos, and they were outstanding. Topped with fresh pico de gallo, cilantro, and a light drizzle of crema, they were simple, authentic, and packed with flavor. The complimentary chips and salsa were fresh, crisp, and exactly what you hope for at a quality Mexican restaurant. The service was friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. They also have a huge bar, and my Tito's & Sprite was served ice cold--the perfect pairing with the meal. To finish, we shared the churros served with warm chocolate dipping sauce and whipped cream. They were crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and the perfect sweet ending to a great meal. Pure Mex offers authentic Mexican flavors, generous portions, a fun atmosphere, and excellent hospitality. It's an easy 4.5-star experience, and I would definitely return to explore more of the menu. The menu is partially in Mexican, so be prepared to either use a translation app or guess what you're getting based on photos. We ordered or thought we ordered the #9 lunch but got something a bit different but still very tasty. The plate was full of all the standard stuff, beans, rice, salad, main dish. The chicken under the cheese was delicious and moist. The beans and rice were flavorful without being dry. The salsa was unique. It was something of an acquired taste. The margarita flight was delicious! The prickly pear and traditional were our favorites. The blue one was a close second or third. The mango with the spicy rum was our least.

I don't know what they put in their salsa but I can't stop thinking about it. The food was delicious! I got alambre with no cheese (later on was told by staff that alambre is fajitas with cheese so I basically got fajitas), my friends got a shrimp plate, burrito plate, tacos and three meats plate. The service was ok when we went. It was busy so we had a hard time finding our server to get more salsa or drinks and my vegan friend had a hard time getting her guacamole and chips that they forgot about. It also wasn't vegan friendly and that was the only option my friend had. Other than the wait and it being busy, I appreciated that our waiter brought out a sombrero and we sang happy birthday to our friend. I would go back here again because the food was delicious, but I'm mindful that I may have to wait on service when they're busy.

So, my wife and I stopped at this on the border a couple weeks ago, hadn't been there in probably a…read morecouple years. Had a decent meal, good drinks, and good service, overall, what I would consider 4-star. We figured, let's go back and try it again. Well, that was a mistake. It was a nice day so we decided to eat outside on the patio. A couple of small ants on the table...well, we're outdoors, kinda hard to fault the restaurant for that, but a little off putting nonetheless (this was pretty minor). It was happy hour and half priced apps. We ordered a beer and a classic margarita. Several minutes later, we ordered our food. Several minutes pass by...no drinks, our server seemed to disappear, maybe on break, who knows. At any rate, several minutes later another server brings our food out...still no drinks yet, she asks us what we're drinking, we tell her, and a couple minutes later, she comes out with the wrong beer...and unfortunately, the right margarita. The server apologizes for the beer and brings back the right one - no big deal. But...the margarita?!? Was just bad. My wife drank less than half. I happened to notice that every one near us that ordered margaritas didn't order a 2nd - they ordered a beer instead. Odd? Yeah, I think so. I think OTB needs to take a look at their margarita recipe or get rid of their bartender...considering we went just a couple weeks ago and the margaritas were decent....Im gonna go out on a limb and suggest that it was the bartender. Seriously, you're a Mexican restaurant, great margaritas should be a no-brainer. I'm averaging this out to a 2-star review, the only saving grace being the previous visit. Honestly, this was a pretty bad experience all around. Pretty sure our server was new, felt bad for him, as he seemed pretty nervous and out of his element, but it was pretty awkward...and there were clearly mixups with table numbers since the person delivering the food to the tables (different.than the servers taking the orders) brought food to the wrongs tables at least 3 different times while we were there. I'd like to say we'll be back to try it again, but in all reality, probably not.

Taco Tuesday at Poncho's Tacos was so good! I'd never been before as it's a bit far from my house,…read morebut it was totally worth the drive. It's cash only, but they do have an ATM inside. The menu consists of your typical items like tacos, burritos, Panchos (nachos), tortas, and more. They also have a lunch special and a daily deal (3 tacos, rice, and beans for $12.50 but no mix and match proteins). Since it was taco tuesday, tacos were $2.50. Nate got three tacos (al pastor, asada, and tinga) and I got a wet burrito with asada. We also ordered a horchata to share and chips and salsa. They have some dine in space but were doing a lot of takeout orders while we were there. Our chips and salsa came out first and the rest of our food shortly after that. The tacos came without toppings since you can load them up with their salsa/toppings bar. The tacos were super stuffed with meat! The burrito was massive - we shared it and still had leftovers for the next day. I tried each of the tacos and they were all delicious. The meats were not dry and again the portions were generous. I really liked the burrito as it was full of meat, cheese, beans, rice, guacamole, lettuce... it had it all. I wish the fillings were mixed up a bit more but it was so tasty. Service was great - we were asked how our meal was and they cleared our table when we were done. I'm really glad we finally made it to Poncho's Tacos and will definitely keep them on my Taco Tuesday list for the future!
