Although we had a few kids cancel last minute, Roland rolled with it and stayed super engaging with the kids the whole time. Even though one or two of her friends opted for the pool instead, my daughter and the rest of her friends couldn't get enough of the parkour obstacle course. Six wooden picnic tables overlooking the stream. A refrigerator to store the cake and drinks. Sinks for handwashing. Areas for kids to run around and play. The teacher guide Pauline was so patient. Pauline was there to help with taking kids on a hike, craft making activities and a trip to the river for fishing. The small hike was manageable. Craft making was a way for kids to be creative. Fishing for krill and toads was a way for the kids to burn excess energy. Bring sunscreen and lotsa bug repellent! Such a fun event outdoors and a learning experience even for the adults!

Where the views camp-ture your heart every single time…read more We've camped at Camp Palehua several times now, and let me tell you ...the views never get old. Like, ever. Every sunset looks like it was custom-ordered, every sunrise feels cinematic, and the mountains and coastline somehow manage to outdo themselves each visit. Mother Nature really shows off up here. This place is the perfect mix of peaceful, rustic, and refreshingly unplugged ...the kind of spot where the air feels cleaner, conversations get longer, and your stress decides to hike somewhere else for a while. The grounds are well-kept, the facilities are tidy (huge camp-win), and there's plenty of space to roam, explore, and pretend you're on a wilderness adventure... even if your idea of "roughing it" still includes snacks and a cozy sleeping bag Family-friendly, quiet, and absolutely gorgeous. Camp Palehua is one of those places you keep coming back to because it just feels good to be there. Same campsite, same mountains, same sky... and somehow it's magical every single time. A hidden treasure in the mountains above Sharks Cove...Camp Pupukea! I was fortunate to be a part…read moreof my son's boy scout troop. Going up there for Winter Summit during the week of New Year's Eve was was an experience I'll never forget. Hearing from others who have been there told me it's cold, rainy and wet. Well it I true! The weather forecast predicted rain and wind. Good thing we came prepared. You wouldn't think you're in Hawaii being up there. It kind of reminds me of Lanai...lots of eucalyptus trees. They have multiple campsites throughout the property. We stayed at Po'o Huku which is probably the farthest from the dining hall and parking lot. However, it had the best drainage compared to other sites that got flooded out and were super muddy. Each site has a pair of portable toilets and sink with potable water. Showers and flushable toilets were nearby like a 2 minute walk. At least the showers have hot water! If you have a child who will be attending Camp Pupukea for the first time, make sure they bring the following... Rain jacket, warm clothing, trash bag to keep clothes dry just in case the tent leaks, mosquito repellent, good water proof or water resistant shoes.

My daughter attended two weeks of art camp at Rainbow Art Studio, and she absolutely loved every…read moreminute of it! She came home every day excited about what she created and couldn't wait to go back the next morning. The counselors were kind, encouraging, and clearly know how to nurture kids' creativity--Parker told us she made new friends and felt really supported the whole time. She was so into drawing and painting that her hand would actually hurt from how much she was creating (in the best way possible!). She was also incredibly proud of the artwork she brought home at the end of each camp. As a parent, it was such a joy to see her inspired, engaged, and proud of what she accomplished. We highly recommend Rainbow Art Studio to any family with a creative kid (or one looking to be more creative)!

I enrolled my son last year in their afterschool program. They meet once a week and build with…read moreLegos. My son enjoys it and I asked him this year if he wanted to continue and he said YES! I don't know exactly what he builds or does, but he's having fun and the price is reasonable. My only suggestion would be to provide parents with pictures of what the kids make and share it through email or private website. The kids do bring back a paper of what they did for the day, I would just like to see what my son's creations looked like.

They seem to take on too many children. I volunteered for a few sessions while my son was in the…read moreprogram. They were short-handed and asked for volunteers. The "instructor" was young and had no experience working with K-3 students. There were about 15 children and she was way too quiet of a speaker for most children to even hear her let alone focus. She had them sit in the beginning of instruction and told them the lesson for the day. It was obvious though that she lost most of them within 10 minutes. By the end of the "lesson" (maybe 20 minutes or so) even the most concentrated learner had tuned her out. Then the building portion was in groups. Many fought over - well just about everything and she had no control or insight on how to deal with all of that. There were about three little boys that would run outside of class and she didn't even notice. I had to run outside to bring them back in. I just can't get myself to register him again. He can build at home with his friends and family.
