    Dates appetizer. Great flavor
    Emily M.

Slightly disappointed in our visit. We've been before and had a good experience. This time was not so great. The food and cocktail menus are good! The appetizers sounded great. They arrived to the table disappointing. The flavors were there, but the quality of the food prep was rough. The bar tender informed us that they had changed the menu steak item (just cut replacement) and that they were out of certain cocktail items to make some of the drinks. That was a little surprising given it was a Thursday and just the start of a busy weekend for them. I'm not sure I'll go back for dinner, but would be content to go to happy hour again.

We recently moved to RVA and to celebrate becoming permanent residents why not head out for a meal on the town. We landed on coming to Brickfire and this spot did not disappoint. We tried a few things off the menu: the roasted cauliflower (perfectly seasoned), crispy calamari (to die for), and a pizza that was damn good. But the real star of the night? The Brickfire Old Fashioned, hands down one of the best cocktails I've had in a long time. The food was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. Great atmosphere too. Brickfire gave us a warm, tasty welcome to RVA, and we'll definitely be back.

Visiting from out of town, I stopped by Brickfire to satisfy a craving for authentic Neapolitan pizza, and it did not disappoint! I started with the arugula salad and calamari. The salad was fresh and crisp, but the calamari was just okay. Out of the pizza options, I chose the Brickfire Signature Burrata Pizza, which was nothing short of amazing. The atmosphere had a relaxing, comforting vibe that made the whole experience that much better. I can't wait to return to Richmond to try more of their pizzas.

Been here multiple times. Ambience is casual. They have a bar and tables. Service is very good. Their pizzas are great. Sausage and rapini has been my one of my favorites. Recently tried their hanger steak and chicken milanese and both were delicious! Tiramisu is also good. Really a lot of reasons why I keep on coming back.

I want everyone to know about Brickfire and how amazing it is. The food is great. Service Is always good and the environment is always friendly. Tonight we had great service at the bar and even better food! We got the meatball pizza - my favorite and the hanger steak. The pizza was super flavorful and the crust was perfect! The addition of the pepper on the pizza adds just the right amount of spice without it being overpowering. The steak was also really good - flavorful and tender. Super tender and I might say... perfect. Highly recommend!

The pizza was great. Crust was amazing and good amount of char The place was really understaffed. I realize a Monday night might be unpredictable, but everything took entirely too long. Beware this is a major homeless area of Richmond, so walking around is a little sketchy. Waiter was attentive, but referring to me as "boss" was a bit off-putting. Hate to give only 3 stars, but service...

Brickfire was close to the performance center, so we decided to bring the group here after watching a show. They accommodated us very well, we did call in a reservation prior. The service was a little slow, it took awhile to get our alcoholic beverages. I got the flower power cocktail which I really enjoyed. Sweet, floral, and fizzy. Very fresh feeling. I wish they put a little flower on top like in the picture. My husband and I shared the mushroom pizza. I didn't taste much mushroom. They put arugula on top of everything, and I felt that was very over powering. Not a good move. Minimal flavor on the pizza, I wish the dough was more charred. Although I did really enjoy the burrata, the flavor was nice with the vinaigrette and cheese. The calamari was also tasty with side of lemon. Overall, ambiance was nice and modern, service was average, and the food felt overpriced for what was served.

These are the times I wish I could give in between ratings lol! We actually wanted to go to Dinamo but we didn't get there timely enough to get a spot without reservations. Been wanting to try this spot. It was actually delicious. The pasta was definitely a five, I would come back here just to eat the pasta. Pizza was good too, but we all wished it was cooked a little longer. Funny because the menu warns that they can't control the char so pretty much apologizing if the pizza is slightly burnt, we had the opposite problem (granted we had leftovers, and they were great in the air fryer lol). The drinks were also super tasty! Calamari was okay... we thought they maybe double fried it for too long but the aioli was tasty. We will be back for sure, but I think I would order the homemade pasta, seriously it's delicious!

While in town for cheer competition a group of 16 of us made reservations at Brickfire. They were super accommodating and allowed us to make reservations a few hours before we arrived. The place was well lit, clean and cozy. Our server gave us menus, answered all questions and gave us time to make a decision. I ordered a lemon drop and cheese pizza. The drink good but would have been great if I went with a different type of tequila. The pizza was freshly made and super delicious. It was so good I ate the whole thing. Overall good experience and I definitely recommend.

New restaurant alert! Brickfire has been open for 8 months. I visited late October but before Halloween 2025. Hubby and I met up for an unplanned date night. The ambiance was serene, cozy, chic, and modern wrapped in a nice bow. We set at the bar. Shandy (like the drink) our bartender was on point with top notch customer service. Perfect mixture of small talk, smiles, and speedy service. He said it was sorta busy for a Wednesday night and 20 pizza orders were ahead of ours. Since it was date night (and no kids mind you), we didn't mind waiting. Two big TVs were at the bar. The hostess was a sweetheart too. Shandy recommended the Old Fashioned. Forty plus years on this earth and it was my first one. I liked it. Shandy said people usually make it too sweet, but this one was not. Calamari was crispy but not greasy. A tad spicy cuz of the jalapeños, but I liked the kick of flavor. Babe usually loves a supreme pizza. Shandy recommended that we not get too many toppings cuz it would make the pizza soggy. Babe opted for pepperoni and sausage. Honestly that's all you need if you're a meat lover. Pizza was 9.5 outta 10. Crust was really good. The only downside was the many homeless men lying out on the sidewalks and hanging out near the restaurant. Scary stuff for a woman leaving at night. Glad hubby was there to walk me to the car. Bottom line: yes I will return!

New restaurant in Richmond. We had roasted dates, meatball pizza, margarita pizza, home made Tiramisu. Brought home leftovers. Portions were big enough to share. All of it was great! Service was awesome. Owner was very personable. Highly recommend.

Drinks & food were very tasty! Bar tender was super attentive. Nice vibe inside & a great spot to dine before a show at the dominion theater!

Not a Pizza review! lol. I had the grilled Caesar Salad, which was really great. It's warm, so prepare for that if you're looking for a traditional Caesar. As my entree, I had the hangar steak. Cooked medium, and delicious. Came with broccolini and a chimichurry sauce on the side. Also came with potatoes that were about as good as potatoes get. Cool laid back vibe. Great and fast service. Would absolutely come back!

They offer a variety of sauces and flavors that really elevate the seafood and make the experience feel unique and interactive. It was such a fun meal to share, comparing each bite and talking through all the different flavors. The service was excellent. Our waitress was knowledgeable about everything we ordered and made great recommendations. The atmosphere is just as impressive. The decor is simple but thoughtfully elevated, and sitting at the bar area feels like you have stepped out of Richmond and into somewhere like New York City. I also love following Lillian on social media to keep up with their latest specials. I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves seafood.

Hats off to the staff at Lillian who continue to be wonderful, but now that they have scrapped…read moretheir dollar oyster lunch specials, the food has absolutely nothing to offer. Like too many restaurants in the Scott's Addition area, this is seafood cooked without finesse and then absolutely brutalized with absurd amounts of palate fatiguing, brash, loud flavors. Every item on the menu endeavors to conceal mediocrity in the quality and handling of the ingredients with explosive, overwhelming additives meant to shock you into submission. Things like black garlic and chili oil, raw garlic, sesame seed oil, and punishing heat are inescapable on the menu, which really says to me loud and clear "we do not understand the appeal of seafood, and might have a fundamental misunderstanding about good food in general." I don't exaggerate when I say these dishes would be improved (setting aside things like inability to properly cook octopus) by scaling back the flavors to 5-10% the loudness level they are currently at, to let the ingredients speak, and to make the dining experience less of a punishing marathon with no relief. I have had much subtler and more skillfully balanced dishes at Indian and Thai restaurants, cuisines known for strong flavor profiles. I'm through listening to these Richmond restaurants trying to excuse simply bad food by claiming "that's the nature of the cuisine." In this case, Lillian claims that dishes characterized by these cacophonous competing flavors is "South American." No it isn't - the person conceptualizing the dishes is just a bad chef who doesn't know what he's doing, and at the prices Lillian charges, that's inexcusable. Drowning every dish in flavors that overwhelm the palate is not a way to respect your ingredients or your diner, and only communicates youth and insecurity. Anyone who's eaten widely and knows their ingredients will rightly feel assaulted and insulted by this overpriced, unskilled fare. To anyone who decides to go anyway: Good luck with the digestive distress, and with the taste that will still be left over in your mouth the next morning, no matter how much you brush your teeth.
