Parking is always hit or miss in this area. The bar itself was fairly empty when we were there. Service was slow and not particularly attentive. The menu is uninspired and bland. I ordered fish and chips. It was overcooked, hard, and not hot. The slaw was so chunky that it was inedible. I will start by saying I have gone here before in the middle of the week and it was not terrible. We recently went on opening day of College Football which was a mistake but it was the only place without a huge wait. The amount of flies swarming our table was disgusting. We stopped in to watch the hockey game. Three big TVs above the bar. They are known for their chicken tenders so that's what we ordered to go. Opted for the garlic parm and the Nashville hot which ended up being tangy and sweet. And now we see why they are known for their tenders. They were tasty and juicy. Fries were soso but we can't judge too harshly because we are them when we arrived home. Bartender was attentive to everyone at the bar. Easy in. Easy out. We used to live a block away, so on a trip back to RVA we stopped in for lunch. Service was very attentive and efficient and the food was good. I got the Southwest Salad. It was a good mix of fresh veggies and the avocado was perfectly ripe. The dressing is tasty too! My wife got the Southwest Wrap. It has a slightly different combination of veggies than the salad and has chicken included. She liked it, but wished it had a few of the veggies from the salad, but she said it was good overall. The default side is their chips, and they are crispy and good! Drinks were reasonably priced and well made. Lots of TVs and the walls open up to give the place an airy feel. We enjoyed this place during our time living in Richmond, and we still do! read more

We walked down to grab a bite to eat during a poetry slam break. The weather was nice so we ate outside on the patio. Our waitress was really nice and attentive. When the rest of the group received their food but I had not, the waitress owed the problem and solved it by making sure my food was brought out quickly and did not charge me full price. I will say the fries are good and the sauce on the wings are really tasty! Didn't get to actually eat my food because we had to leave. That drink though...I like that bartender!!!! read more

Food was average, at best, 5/10... but, the service was awful, to say the least - server did not come back to check on our party but once during our 1.5 hour visit. The final bill was not brought to us until we prompted the manager to print it... very sad... I hope this gets fixed soon (the awful service). read more

I have been coming to the Home Team Grill for over 2 years now. It's a great neighborhood Sports Bar with TVs that can cover all today's sporting events. Don't let the word bar fool you, the food here is outstanding. The chicken corn chowder which is on the menu every day is delicious and the soups of the day have all been outstanding. All the food I've had here is excellent, the burgers, the chicken tenders and I love the shrimp quesadilla extra blackened! If you are looking for a place to have lunch or dinner, or just a few drinks with friends and watch TV. The staff here is extremely friendly. This is a pretty nice chain venue to take in a live show. I visited with a friend who had a connection to the band one night. We couldn't really chat since the music was too loud, but the beer list was decent and the food options were good. I ordered the nachos and it was a perfect meal for me. I also ordered a sour from Wicked Weed and my first (and likely last -- ew) White Claw hard seltzer. For those who like the stuff, they have several flavors. I'd maybe return again. They didn't have much of anything in the menu available because I was told that the weekend was really busy, so most of the stuff that I wanted to try was not available. The Fan location really draws you in and this is the place to be for a good game or NCAA tourney (especially if VCU is involved.) We have been here several times over the past two months. Always have sat at the bar. Have had a great experience every time. The bartenders are incredible: friendly and professional and seem genuinely happy serving their customers. The setting is sports oriented with lots of TVs to watch your favorite game. Fun atmosphere. And finally, the food. There are several items we have tried which we love. Favorites include both the vegetable and chicken quesadillas, the chicken wings and burgers. All are great. My favorite is the Tuna Bites appetizer. Blackened and served with a great Caribbean ranch dressing. I order these asking them to go light on the blackened seasoning. A great sports bar with picture perfect food. That's how I'd describe Home Team Grill. If you wanna catch the game you can't really go wrong here and if you want to grab a bite while you do it, this is a perfectly fine place. The food won't knock your socks off but it will do the trick. We ended up sitting outside because why not? We ordered the barbecue bacon burger and the honey hot chicken tenders. The sauces were great but the actual meat just wasn't seasoned all that well. However, the fries made up for what the meat was lacking. They were perfectly crispy and seasoned to perfection. With a sizable portion you just couldn't complain. To top it off the service was great. If you want to go and catch a game and a bite Home Team Grill is your spot. read more

Came here today with some other folks to watch the Nebraska versus Oklahoma football game. The place was packed with Virginia tech fans which created such a great atmosphere for watching the game. Despite being packed, the service was fantastic. Our waitress kept on top of our needs. I ordered the chicken fingers which were fantastic. Crispy coating and juicy chicken. Tuesday, 19.04.23, late afternoon I picked the right day to be hungry. I needed to grab a bite before going to an evening supper. So when I walked out of Rostov's I saw HTG and decided to give it a go. I sat at the bar & scanned the menu. HTG Burger. That's simple. With Cheddar, no pink. Fries included. $9. My server offered me bacon for $2 extra. Gimme. He also asked if I wanted Mayo. Bring it on! Continuing to read the menu, I realize that Tuesday is half-priced burgers, with fries. Cool! Perhaps 10 minutes later it came up. I expected the Mayo on the bun, but it was presented in a pathetically small plastic cup. I spread it thinly across both bun halves. Reassembled everything and began eating. Very good burger, No pink, as requested. Fries were super-good, also. Keeping my later supper in mind, I ate only half of the burger and requested a box. The server, while certainly not rude or cold, was a bit aloof to me. Late this morning, I ate the remnants of my burger, enjoying every bite. I'd love to repeat that Tuesday burger. read more

For context, I sat at the bar and ordered a couple things. The bartender is the star here. I can't remember her name (which is TRASH of me) but it was like, Mary Something. It was a two part name. But she is so attentive. We walked in and she asked us our names first. In all my years of drinking (and there are many), I haven't had many (if any) bartenders ask me my name. I wish I didn't have to leave this review- but as a sports fan who goes to "sports bars," I feel obligated. I came to Home Team to watch the National Championship with out-of-town Clemson alumni and the experience was wholly subpar. Admittedly, the game was on a Monday night, but HT could not be bothered to postpone their weekly trivia. In fact, the TV's were muted until after kickoff because of trivia. The game itself was fine, but as soon as the final whistle blew, staff turned off the TVs because they wanted to close up. I'm not one to hold up servers at closing time, but if you're running a sports bar, that sort of thing obviously comes with the territory a few nights a year. What saves HT from a one-star review is the positive experiences we had during the regular season watching multiple games throughout the day. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back. It's slightly embarrassing to have vouched for HT as hands-down the best spot to watch college football in Richmond and for my friends to be entirely let down. read more
