I think it is the proper place to sit when dining alone. No need to tie up a larger table for just me. Let the server have a larger party and make a bigger tip. Once I had, The HOB Chop with Truffle Fries and a Caesar Salad. My salad was typical fare, Truffle Fries were crisp on the outside and the inside was hot and fluffy. The star definitely was the chop. It was super tender, juicy and seasoned well. I'd order again. I have also stopped by a couple of times, just for a cocktail and appetizer. Once I ordered the, Prince Edwards Island Mussels with Garlic Bread. I was shocked to see the mussels were prepared out of their shells. It was a nice switch and the side garlic bread was perfect for dipping and scooping up the mussels. The last time I stopped for a Boulavardier, OMG it was delicious and refreshing. I've learned to ask a bartender if they know how to make one, because so many of the young ones do not. This bartender told me it was the owners favorite cocktail, so it definitely knew how to make one. He nailed it. As my appetizer this evening I choose, Calamari. I have never seen such large pieces of Calamari. I breading was light and crisp. I'm not a dipper, so I really didn't try the sauce. I just simply enjoyed the Calamari. The service is attentive as you'd expect at an upscale steakhouse.

I heard the wings at Barrel & Bru Tap House were pretty good, so I went to check them out and…read moretotally agree. With a cold beer and a side of fries, I had an incredible lunch. They offer bone-in and boneless wings. I prefer, bone-in. To me, boneless wings is just another name for nuggets. You also get your choice of sauces, or doing a dry-rub for your wings. I'm a fan of the dry-rubs, so chose Buffalo-Lemon Pepper. It was a combination of my two favorite flavors, so it seemed like a logical choice. The blend of the buffalo with lemon pepper, gave the wings an extra tangy taste. I also like how extra crunchy the wings were. Crisp on the outside and moist and juicy on the inside. When I eat wings out at a restaurant, I am a stickler for the number of drums and flats match. My order here at B&B was 3 & 3, so I was happy. In addition to my wings, I had a side of fries. Damn, they were good. They were crinkle, my favorite fry and they were good sized. The bartender offered a beer cheese sauce for dipping and I took advantage of his offer and tried it. The beer cheese was way better than using the typical ketchup. Being a Tap House, there were plenty of craft beers and commercial beers on draft. If you are torn on what to choose, they offer samplings. The bartender said, if I told him what I liked, he could make recommendations to match my taste. He guided me to, Floyd's Deluxe and it was a good match for my wings and fries. The ambiance is industrial minimalist, which is a relaxing sports bar vibe. I was pleased with my first visit, so I will be back and the next time I'll try a burger. Good food and excellent service, will always get me to return.

Select your own table. 4 of the 6 of us walk in together and we grab couple-three tables that will seat all of us. Beat. Yes, we are sure. Then the server comes around and greets us with something like, "So are we gonna have 20 different cards here? Or what?" Beat. Beat. People exchange glances. If it were not for the Illinois 66 Passport, I still may be oblivious. The Illinois Passport is promoting 66 businesses on the first 301 miles of the original historical Route 66. The businesses start in Chicago and come all the way down the state to Collinsville. After visiting the business, you get a stamp in your passport just like your travel passport. Stagger Inn is definitely a historical neighborhood dive bar. It's 52 years old and still going strong. It has an old wooden bar, two rooms for dining and drinking and you can see into the kitchen from a large window. The staff was friendly and provided great service. I sat at the bar and ended up chatting with all the servers as they picked up drinks for their tables. When reading the menu, I was impressed that they hand-cut their fries and hand batter the onion rings. I am definitely going back for the onion rings. This visit I did the fries as a side and they were crispy and still had the skins on the potatoes. When they placed my plate in front of me, they informed me they do not season the fries. The bartender recommended that I salt them while they were hot. Preferring pepper, I gave mine a shake of black pepper. I liked that they didn't salt the fries, since I'm trying to reduce my sodium intake. My Stagger Burger was incredibly delicious. I added, Pepper Jack Cheese and Jalapeños. They were generous with the jalapeños and left the seeds in, so the burger had a little burn to it. For me, this burger was top-notch. Stagger Inn, thanks for the stamp in my Route 66 Passport. I'll be back for Chicken Wings and Onion Rings. See you, soon.

But after three separate interactions with this bartender, I don't want anyone else wasting their time or money here. Our group stopped in after a wedding. We were friendly and patient from the moment we arrived, but the bartender was rude from the start. A couple sitting next to us even warned us, "Don't even try with him--he's just not friendly." The first interaction was when my husband tried to order two Old Fashioneds. The bartender said we were ordering too slowly, walked away, and started taking someone else's order. It was so strange that we wondered if he was joking. The second was outside, when my husband tried to make friendly conversation and mentioned that we were visiting from out of state. The bartender said he hated the state we were from, then abruptly got up and left. We let it go. The third was when we went back inside to order a second round, roughly 20 minutes after arriving. He told us our entire group was cut off. We hadn't done anything to warrant that, so we left and went to another bar. The bartenders there happily served us and couldn't understand why we'd been cut off. Three interactions, and every one of them was unpleasant. I've never experienced anything like it at a bar.
