Wanted to check out this place since my husband enjoyed going by here after work to have a beer. Service was good. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. Not much for parking. It's right off a one of the main drags in collinsville. I did enjoy the funny stuff all though out and their bathroom door signage. Husband ordered their fried pickle spears. Those were good. The breading was very tasty. I tried the cheesey sloppy Joe and sweet potato fries . It was good. Very sloppy as a joe is known to be!! I ranked it a 3 because the table was kind of dirty upon seating and my step child and I saw men just using the ladies restroom. Drove 40 minutes to Collinsville for them just to not even get served a drink because my id was vertical and my tacos were so burnt I didn't eat them. The server was nice it was his first day, but it was genuinely so frustrating and a waste of a few hours including driving there and home for literally nothing but a sprite. read more

The bartending staff here is so friendly very easy to work with. I had an issue with a gift card that was not reading Rachel help us get it figured out without a hassle. I've eaten here twice in the last six months and the food was awesome on both occasions don't know that I've ever had a bad meal from the place. they have indoor and outdoor seating, which is always nice on a sunny day. O.M.F.G...went there with my in-laws on a Friday, and the "special" fried fish was AMAZING! Not greasy, good sides and large portion! I now know I LOVE Haddock, because it is a light white fish, no bones and super tasty! Very busy with limited tables, but take out seemed very easy! The fried cod!! It is the best I've ever eaten, and I've eaten a bunch over the years. If you want to get a table, you better get there early on Fridays, absolutely forget about trying to call in an order. I've never had much luck with it. I visited The Red Bar for lunch on a Wednesday with my father. I had never been. They were busy and I can see why. The portions are HUGE! The prices are super reasonable. Good local place. The daily special was $1 tacos. I ordered 1 taco and a bowl of chili with cheese and onions. First of all the taco was good and two probably would have filled me up for lunch. This bowl of chili was massive though. It was enough for like 3 people. I should have ordered the cup. I barely put a dent in it. Both of these items were quite good. My father ordered a 1/2lb all beef frank with a side salad instead of fries. This thing was massive too. He cut it in half and only ate half of it. The bill for our lunch was $14.90 before tip. It's astounding they could serve this food at these prices and make money. I'm sure we'll be back because the food was very good! read more

Disappointing :(. Ordered bacon on three sandwiches- got it on 2. I had a chicken sandwich which the menu says chicken tender sandwich but was a dry grilled chicken breast. The waitress was less than attentive. Had to go to the bar to get drink refills. We did get the bacon for our sandwiches after we said something. Just didn't feel welcome, over all. We have been there before but to be honest I felt like since we were drinking alcoholic beverages we weren't worth the time. My daughter and husband had cheeseburgers and they were pretty good but nothing that I would suggest taking friends that are in town for a visit. I will pick somewhere else. Sadly due to price increases the cheesesteak is no longer available. However if you're looking for the best fish in Collinsville this is your spot! I have been trying to get to this place since I read a few reviews on Yelp. We finished a 26 mile bike ride and I was promising beers and amazing sloppy joes. It was very easy to find, seriously just look for the RED building, hence the name the Red Bar. Parking is a little limited. They do have an outside seating area, which we were wanting. However, when we got inside we were told that we could eat outside but that we had to go inside to order.....hmmm that is what earned them the three stars. I was excited for the Sloppy Joes. They have nine different options. I picked the Sloppy Rob, it had cheese and onion rings on top. You can choose from sweet potato fries or tator tots. When the plates arrived it was more than I knew that I could eat. Not sure what was all in the dipping sauce for the Sweet potato fries, but it was not to spicy for my taste. The beers were ice cold. Needless to say I will be back and I did not leave hungry. read more

Went here a couple weeks ago to try it out after my sister and brother-in-law moved close to the area. The inside looks like it had been recently renovated. The place was very clean and it looked to have a recently tiled floor. The menu is lacking, but at the same time this is more of a bar not a restaurant. They have plenty of appetizers, foot long hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, and sloppy joes. For you competitive eaters out there a 14oz sloppy joe with fries, that if you eat it all in 30 mins it's free and you get your picture on the wall. Our waitress said it has only been done twice. The first thing I ordered was an appetizer of fried mushrooms, and for the price it was a steal. The serving was big enough to adequately share with the other guests and they tasted great. (Fried mushrooms can be hit or miss) I then ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was good, nothing special just what you'd expect it to be. The fries weren't very good. I don't think they had been cooked long enough, very soft. My sister and step brother each ordered one of their many varieties of sloppy joes and really liked them. They each got the regular seasoned fries which also didn't receive high marks. My brother-in-law went for the 14oz challenge. He failed miserably, but said it was really good. I plan on going back to The Red Bar, not so much as a place to eat, but as a place to get a beer and a decent appetizer it fits the bill. read more

Recommended by my friend Shaun who frequents establishments of this type he spoke highly of the Red Barn. Famous for hotdogs as Shaun always enjoys, he spoke highly of the size of the hot dog and the generous cylindrical portion and how much he loved savoring the flavor in his pallet. I got the fish. The food was outstanding. Prepared just how my mom would except Dad never caught fillets this big. I also shared wings with my friends and they we're among the best I've had. My boyfriend and I tried The Red Bar for the first time this past weekend. The service was fast and friendly, the dining area was clean and the portions were HUGE. Their menu consists of mostly bar food, so my boyfriend ordered a hotdog with tater tots and I had a "small" chef salad. As a former college football player, it surprised me when he BARELY finished the whopping 10 inch "beast of a dog" and only half of the boat of tater tots. I took over half of my salad home and made two other meals of it. We also ordered drinks and a buffalo wing appetizer (delicious!) and were pleasantly surprise when our bill totaled less than $30 for the two of us. A fellow bar customer made a point of requesting that our waiter show us the bun of the 14 oz. sloppy joe challenge entree. Apparently if you can down the whole thing (with fries) in less than 30 minutes, you receive a free t-shirt, get your picture on the wall, and your meal is free! Neither of us had the stomach to try it; the platter itself could fit a Thanksgiving turkey! My only complaint is the single restroom. After a few drinks I waited at least two heads before I could go. It was spacious and clean, but one restroom (per gender) for an entire bar is just a no-no! Seems like a great bar-style restaurant if you want good, cheap eats and adult fun. Next time I'm in town, (I'm a Georgia girl) I'll definitely be trying their frog legs and fried pickles! read more

I agree with a lot of what Brandon said. Menu is very inexpensive and the daily specials are steal. There are tables in addition to the bar but as the name suggests it is definitely a bar atmosphere. Sometimes there isn't much service staff on hand, so I wouldn't suggest going if you are in a hurry. read more

Was really shocked at the food here. Heard about the chili dogs so had to try and it was by far the best chili cheese dog that I have ever had in my life. The flavor of the hot dog is like no other and it was so good that we asked the bartender where they got them!! The amount of chili and cheese they put on this thing seals the deal and it comes with tots covered in chili as well which I don't see how it's even possible to finish the whole thing. For those of you who dont know, The Red Bar is widely known for its yummy unique sloppy joes and their hot dogs--weird combo, I know- Sadly, I did not try either one of them. We were meeting another couple for a farewell dinner before their move, and I had my heart set on fried shrimp pretty much all day- i was CRAVING It-- and guess what?! There special on Friday nights--- cod, and FRIED SHRIMP...yesssssss! We ordered a couple appetizers while waiting and decided to go with the breaded mushrooms, and the friend pizza rolls. Both were very very good, hot, and delicous--- the pizza rolls were more like mini egg rolls (and let me tell you, i eat regular pizza rolls like its no one bizznasssss) and you really couldnt go wrong- For an entree- I had the fried shrimp (obviously) and to my delight, they were HUGE..not the tiny boxed popcorn shrimp--- It was very very good--- the fries were good as well (think McDonalds fries)- We had heard from several people the cod was amazing, and my better half really enjoyed it. This place has 1/2 pound hot dogs!!!!! I mean really me and both my kiddos can eat one. They put chili, cheese, or even sloppy joe on top and they are to die for. We come here early, like right at open, to avoid the kids being around to many people who are drinking. I was impressed that the food was better than most "bar food". Even the salads are exceptional, but my favorite has to be the BLT. Its loaded with so much bacon it should have a warning for a heart attack. Went to the Red Bar for the first time on Sunday (7/15). My wife told me about their food and I will have to say they have a large selection of sloppy joes and other assorted bar food type items. I decided on getting the chili cheese tots and overall it was good, i wouldn't say that it was the best chili I've had. The tots were crispy and not overcooked. The portion could easily feed about 4 people, so I only ended up eating 1/4 of it. The place looked clean and was not a dive by any means. They had plenty of TV's with different baseball games playing. I would recommend this place to others looking for decent bar food. read more

Went for lunch. The special of the day was any hot dog and fries. Ordered a coney dog with the chili on the side, so I could add it myself and actually pick-up the dog and eat it. The food was good. Then the waitress brought the bill which charged me for the hot dog and $1.95 up charge for a "side of chili". I asked the waitress and she the manager and owner said to charge for it. When I confronted the manager, he said the kitchen gives too much food when you order something "on the side". They would not credit the up-charge, and I paid for the tiny container of chili. First time I was here I was pretty loaded, no lie. It was just a night out drinking then. However a few months ago a group of friends and I came for dinner before going to the racetrack. Can't say enough good!! Amazing gourmet-like hot dogs that are enormous. Burgers and BLTs are like nothing you've seen before. Huge apps. Huge sides. And it's not just size--it's delicious grub. I will say the customer service was good. The bartender was really friendly. But the food was Horrible. I was served a cold dog turd they called a sloppy joe after waiting 40 minutes. which was something i was told they're known for. It was obvious my food was microwaved and sat for a long time before it was served. So that being said, hopefully they'll raise their standards. Since moving to the area friends insisted we try it. Met for dinner on Friday and I'll tell you now if I ever go there again it won't be on Friday evening. Yes there are volumes of food at pretty cheap prices. A variety of sloppy joes, loaded tater tots, burgers, misc fried food. If that's what you're going for you may like it just fine, if you don't care about other things. I don't think I'll be back and here's why: Inattentive service at the bar (it did get better at the table). It was near 90 degrees outside and I only felt air conditioning in one spot of the place. I love a good dive bar but this one was pretty dirty. HVAC vents and pretty much everything else was covered in dust, and I'm still stuffed up with watery eyes a couple hours after leaving. And this place is seriously loud. Their background music is a blaring radio, tuned to what I believe might've been a country station. What I mostly heard was hissing, commercials, and a random song. But so many people were trying to talk over the loudness of the hissing and chatter on the radio, the sheer volume in the place was obnoxious. There are so many other options for music that are free, I don't even see how what they currently have is a choice or a decision. When we got our bill they gave us someone else's credit card and it took a bit to figure that out. All in all, not a good experience. read more

My friends and I really liked this place until our recent outing. I have worked in this industry for almost 8 years so I understand how sometimes things can be a bit crazy. But this situation was absolutely uncalled for. We walked in and there was nowhere to sit because every single table was dirty. The bartender, I believe her name was val?, explained to us that her waitress was sent home sick and to bare with her.... which we had absolutely no problem with. We ordered wings, dynamite sticks, and beer. Once our wings were brought out I asked if the dynamite stick were coming and you could tell she forgot (not a big deal at all) we reminded her about the other food we ordered and asked if we could have shots while we wait.... we had to tell her 3 times what shots we wanted and 20 mins later one of my friends still hadn't gotten hers. We reminded her AGAIN about the food we were still missing and the shots and she just couldn't get it together... we finally got all our food after asking for the 3rd time. A situation broke out with some other girls in the bar that we were NOT with. the bartender turned to me and my friends and told us to leave.... after we had asked for shots and she told us yes... 10 mins later she told us to leave. At this point we had paid for nothing and were still eating/drinking. We weren't causing any problems. We minded our own business and were more than nice to this bartender. We looked at her and said we still have to pay and we never got our shots.... she said " girls I'm asking you to leave. Please leave. I'm only serving my regulars for the rest of the night." During the time we were there she told us SIX TIMES how great of a bartender she is and she doesn't apologize for anything and she remembers everything...... yet she did the exact opposite.
