It…read moreleans heavy vegan/vegetarian but they still do bacon, real meats, and real eggs, so you can go whatever direction you want. I like having the option. The breakfast burrito is the star and it's not close. They put broccoli and squash in it. Sounds insane, shouldn't work, but it's one of the best breakfast burritos I've had in my entire life. Get the extra crispy bacon in it. Everything was texturally perfect and they've got this fermented hot sauce that goes with it. Not spicy, just adds a whole extra layer of flavor. A 10 out of 10. The coffee was the letdown. We did a few rounds (cortado, latte, cappuccino) and they came out inconsistent, milk to coffee ratio all over the place. Felt like whoever was making them didn't really know the difference between the drinks. If I'm dinging them on anything, it's that. My wife got one of those big healthy veggie bowls and it was pretty mediocre. Just lacked flavor. If super healthy is what you're after you'll be happy, but hers was a 3 and my burrito was a 10, so I ended up handing her half of mine. That's the deal here, it depends what you order. The veggie and vegan stuff is never going to hit like the real thing, but there's a ton of good options if you care about that. We also grabbed a bunch of their canned goods on the way out. Pesto, that hot sauce, radish kimchi, sweet potato kimchi. They make it all in house and you can tell there's a real passion for creating and doing new things. Super happy we found this one. Highly recommend, especially that burrito.

The building seems new, is clean and has two bathrooms for women!! Only thing that I'd change-get a cappuccino machine and offer authentic coffee drinks. Tip-everything is drowning in cheese. The food is so delicious, don't cover it up by getting all of that cheese on the eggs and other dishes. It just becomes gross, really. The restaurant is pretty quiet, except for the man at the bar having a loud conversation for a while. Not necessary and rude. Food 5 stars, but leave off the cheese. Plenty of parking is available. Can't wait to return when I'm in the area.

We got one of the last tables available, and we were glad we got there when we did because it stayed full the whole time we were there. The food came out quickly and was very fresh. I had a hard time picking one what I wanted because everything on the menu and what I saw coming from the kitchen looked so good. I opted to make my own omelette with swiss cheese, jalapenos and bell peppers; hashbrowns and a biscuit. They advertise that the biscuits are the "world's best" and I have to say they are VERY good. The hashbrowns were perfectly cooked and I could have eaten a second helping of them. This is a great stop if you're in the area, and I feel like I need to make some regular trips to Lafayette to work my way through the menu.

The pork chop was cooked perfectly. It was juicy, incredibly tender, and honestly tender enough to cut with a fork. It had a great char from the grill that added so much flavor, and the pickled peppers on top cut through the richness of the pork perfectly. The dirty rice underneath reminded me of my mom's rice dressing and soaked up all the juices from the chop. It was one of the best pork chop dishes I've had. My wife ordered the smoke fried chicken, and it was also excellent. The crust was crispy while the chicken stayed juicy and flavorful. The sweet potato biscuits were light and delicious, and the pepper honey tied everything together nicely. For my taste, it leaned just a little on the sweet side, but it was still a very enjoyable dish. My daughter ordered the Social Cheeseburger with just meat and cheese. She loved it, and I was impressed too. Even with such a simple order, the burger was juicy, well seasoned, and served on a fantastic bun. She and my wife both could not stop talking about the hand cut fries. They were crispy, perfectly seasoned, and some of the best fries we've had in a while. From the food to the service, everything exceeded our expectations. We left very impressed and will definitely make a point to stop here whenever we are in the Lafayette area.

I also sampled my husband's biscuits and gravy and I was a little disappointed I hadn't ordered that. The service was friendly but not over the top. We were initially confused about seating and ordering. But, our food came out really quickly, which is always a plus. There's no host stand or clear seating system, so the entrance felt chaotic. We weren't sure what to do until a nice local told us to just grab a table. After sitting down, it took about 5 mins for a waitress to stop by with the menus. The menu includes both breakfast and lunch items, but the ordering process is confusing. We were told breakfast orders would be taken at the table and lunch needs to be ordered separately at the cafeteria style counter. My husband went to the counter to order lunch while I stayed behind, waiting for the server to return with drinks and take our breakfast order, she never did. The smothered pork dish looked worse than school cafeteria, and unfortunately tasted like it too. It was overly salty and the pork had a weird taste to it. Since we had already paid for the lunch item upfront and still hadn't been able to place breakfast order, we decided to cut our losses and went to another restaurant. Overall, wasted 35 mins and left frustrated and disappointed, definitely won't come back!

Then I discovered Five Mile Eatery, and it has quickly become one of my favorite places in town. I am absolutely addicted to their vegan Caesar salad. It's fresh, flavorful, satisfying, and proof that vegan food can be anything but boring. The menu is thoughtfully crafted with organic, seasonal ingredients, and it's refreshing to find a place that truly caters to plant-based eaters. I know some people comment on the prices, but organic, high-quality ingredients cost more, and that's something many people don't realize. Personally, I don't mind paying a little extra for healthy choices and food made with quality ingredients. Beyond the food, the atmosphere is welcoming, the desserts are excellent, and the staff always make me feel at home. If you're vegan, vegetarian, or simply looking for a healthier meal option, Five Mile Eatery is a gem. Lafayette is lucky to have it!

I ordered the Co-op Burger, which came on a house-made sweet potato bun that was actually really good. The Angus beef patty was cooked well done, just how I like it. It also came with lettuce, mustard, house ketchup, and basil mayo. Personally, I could've done without the house ketchup and would've preferred regular ketchup. The basil mayo was not a good match, I think regular mayo would have complemented the burger much better. I also asked to leave off the pickles and red onion. I added an over-hard egg, which was cooked perfectly. On the side, I ordered the yogurt, but unfortunately, I couldn't eat it. It tasted like spoiled sour cream, so that was definitely a disappointment. The atmosphere was nice and welcoming, although the seating area felt a little too cramped. It was lunchtime, so I understand that it was busy. One thing I didn't like was the lack of any signs directing customers with call-in or online orders. It wasn't clear where those orders should be picked up. I ended up standing by the cooler, which put me in the walkway of food being delivered and the cooler for beverages. I was also concerned about the food handling. The employee bringing out food and drinks kept playing with her hair because it was constantly falling in her face, then continued handling customers' orders. The person making the coffee also had her hair down. In my opinion, anyone preparing or serving food should have their hair secured and wear gloves when appropriate. Parking was probably the biggest inconvenience. Nearly every surrounding business has signs stating "Parking for customers only," which makes finding a place to park difficult.
