I am an actress & speaker. Frequently I get to use my voice to sing and speak and tell amazing stories.In 2011 I was diagnosed with vocal nodules. Brian is a phenomenal voice coach.Truly one of the best in the business. I came in with a very very hoarse voice after years & years of vocal nodules / voice loss flair ups, throat pain, tightness in my jaws and neck. I had no real connection with my breathe or what was going on with my vocal cords! And after the past couple years and being in works environments like Forever 21 s corporate office I had grown accustomed to overusing my voice & managing whatever voice I could produce. Brian not only has helped me to see that my voice can be healed to do some pretty amazing things but He has also shown me that proper education and understanding of the Voice can help alleviate alot of pain & build confidence in using your voice in the way it was created to be used. I love how patient he is & how he customizes each session for where you are right now as well as encourages you to explore new ranges and ways to use your diaphragm and voice box to produce voice from the right place. He has excellent equipment and it's great to hear yourself back and see where you are in relation to notes on the piano or your favorite song or even where you were when you first started! Recently we've been exploring allergies, sinuses post nasal drip & how nodules & polyps are inflammatory responses to the body so when your body feels it's under attack it goes through inflammatory responses. When you have excessive mucus on your vocal cords & constantly clear your throat that is also no help to protecting your voice. It's super cool to have a teacher who is so knowledgeable about the voice and takes the time to help you really grow and develop. I absolutely love working with Brian and am excited to hear this side of my voice I always knew was there but could never quite find the right doctor, ENT or Speech therapist to help me get here. This was my first lesson with Brian, and it was extremely informative. I doubt I will retain all of the info he gave me over the lesson, but at least now I have a grasp of my own voice and what it's doing. I had a lesson when I was younger with a classical music teacher and it did no good. I had absolutely 0 singing experience prior to working with Brian. In our first session, Brian has you come prepared with a song to sing -- needless to say I completely butchered it! Brian will then work with you while explaining the deeper mechanics of how the voice works, and also explains to you some of your immediate weaknesses. I've had a couple vocal lessons before but do I have to say Brian really knows what he's doing. In the past lessons, what I learned from the coaches are fundamental and they tried to teach me how to sing in their own style. However, Brian helped me sing in my own style and knows how I could sing to achieve better sounds. His knowledge of anatomy helped me visualize how my vocal cord works and made everything easier. He's also the nicest coach I've ever met, easy-going and great sense of humor. I enjoyed every lesson with him. Although, just after a few lessons with Brian he helped me discover places I thought my voice could never reach. I've been self taught for the last 6 years, and my producer had been getting on me to take vocal lessons. As a soul,jazz, pop artist I was definitely weary of teachers needless to say. It's not like you can teach soul. But I knew I was missing some basics and wanted the right person to help me let my voice soar. I found Brian and have been a weekly student ever since. His ability to pinpoint a weak spot and find its solution in a matter of minutes is what keeps me going back. Its like science. I've had SUCH a good experience with Brian!! I've had a few lessons with him now and am thrilled with the progress he's helped me make with my voice. I struggled to find someone in the San Gabriel Valley who could teach adults for a reasonable price, and I would recommend him to anyone looking to improve their singing technique and sound. He is patient and encouraging but realistic and focused, and constantly refers back to the anatomy and physiology of sound production, which is super helpful for me to be able to understand how to manipulate my voice to sound how I want.
