We love PMA! My older son who is 11 has had Sam as his drum teacher for the last few years and really loves him. Sam strikes a nice balance between being approachable and easygoing, but also knowing how to challenge and motivate my son. My younger 9 year old son just switched to Gabriel for piano because his previous teacher cut back her hours. As a pianist myself, I really appreciate how Gabriel breaks down how to practice a song to make it easier to learn. He also takes into account my son's interest when choosing a song. We strongly recommend PMA! read more

Only good things at PMA! My daughter began taking lessons in the late spring with Marcella and has made such tremendous progress, not only with her vocals but also stage presence and performance. A few weeks into lessons, Marcella recommended my daughter sign up for the recital. On the day of the recital our family was shocked at the progress made - she received a standing ovation! All thanks to Marcella! My daughter really enjoys having her as a vocal coach/instructor and looks forward to each session. She's patient, engaging and has built up my daughter's confidence, all while teaching technique, developing vocal skills. The front desk at PMA are also incredibly helpful and easy to contact, whether by phone, text or email. I appreciate how easy it is to book makeup lessons and change schedules online. My daughter also enjoys seeing Marcella's feedback and thoughtful comments posted after each lesson. read more

We've had an amazing experience at PMA! Ardem has been an incredible drum teacher--patient, encouraging, and inspiring. Our son has grown so much as a drummer and genuinely looks forward to every lesson. We're grateful for everything Ardem and the PMA team have done and highly recommend them to anyone looking for great music instruction. read more

We absolutely love Pasadena Music Academy! My son's drum teacher, Lucas, is so professional, positive, kind, passionate about music, and just awesome that I don't think my son would be as happy and motivated to play drums with any other teacher in the world! My other son used to take piano classes with Andrew, and he is also fantastic! Thank you for your endless kindness and support, Andrew! And Jerry from reception -- I don't know how you handle it all! You are the best! read more

Here is my 2nd review on this school. We love coming here. My son has been taking drum lessons since Covid. His current teacher Ardem is one of the best! He knows how to keep my son engaged and it shows in every recitals by playing harder and harder songs! My daughter also started piano lessons with Abigail. She's patient and fun. My daughter is 6 so she knows how to speak young kids language. My daughter says she's is nice and funny. She looks forward for her weekly lesson. Most importantly the ease of communication with front desk is top notch. I can text easily and always get fast response. My son's basketball schedule varies and they always try to accommodate our needs. I can't say enough good things about this place! We enjoy going to recitals 2x year. It's like a big showcase we all dress up for! They also provide free professional pics. What else to ask for? read more

This school is unprofessional. Teachers consistently start sessions late but end them on time without making up the lost minutes. There was a time when they cancelled my daughter's class without communicating with us. I've moved my child to a new school that is higher quality and cheaper. I definitely don't recommend this business read more

My boy has been taking lessons at PMA since 2024 and he's learning and his instrumental skills improve so much. His drum teacher is Ardem and guitar teacher is Tracy. We've tried a few music teachers over the years, and it's really not easy to find someone truly great. We feel very lucky to have found Elisabeth at Pasadena Music Academy. She is patient, experienced, and wonderful with kids. My daughter genuinely looks forward to every lesson, and Elisabeth has really helped build her confidence and interest in singing. What we especially appreciate is that after each class, she always gives parents a thoughtful summary of what was covered and what the student should practice at home. It makes such a difference. Highly recommend both Elisabeth and the school! read more

Pasadena Music Academy has been a great place to rediscover my love for singing after 15 years! I used to perform in advanced choir, but over time, I lost my range and missed the joy of singing. I signed up for 30-minute lessons, and my instructor, Susan, has been fantastic--reminding me of old techniques and teaching me new ones. The pricing is very reasonable compared to other instructors I found on Yelp, especially since I'm not trying to go pro--just enjoy singing again. I also really value that I can bring in Indian songs due to Susan's cultural background, which makes the experience even more meaningful. Having this creative outlet each week makes me feel like I'm thriving again. Highly recommend! read more

Thank you PMA for introducing our son to piano! He started taking weekly lessons shortly before he turned 5 years old, and looks forward to coming every week. He has made tremendous improvements in just 3 months, and will sit at the piano and practice his scales and music he learned in his classes. Tom Ameen is a wonderful teacher! I selected Tom because of his extensive background in Disney piano music (and as a big Disney fan, it was a no brainer). Tom is kind and patient, he encourages my son to challenge himself without being too pushy. The pace is just right and does not feel overwhelming at all. Tom and my son have a great bond, and I like that they are very respectful to one another. I particularly appreciate that Tom writes summary notes after each class so that I know what to practice with him at home. My son feels confident at the piano and it's been SUCH a joy to see him improve week by week. He feels proud when he completes a challenging piece. I like that the school also puts on bi-annual recitals, which is such a great way to overcome stage fright. I hope by end of the year my son would be ready to participate. Will continue to participate as long as we can! read more

I started my daughter at PMA on the recommendation of a friend who is a musician, and we have been so happy with our experience there! My daughter has been taking voice lessons with Ms. Kris for a few months now, and she absolutely loves them. From the moment she walked out of her first lesson, my daughter was begging to keep taking lessons with her. My daughter didn't even want to skip her lesson on her birthday, and that says a lot. What more could you want as a parent? read more

Both my sons learnt their instruments at PMA first before moving into their PUSD music programs while continuing with PMA. My eldest learnt trumpet and my youngest is 2.5 years learning drums with Mann Bipin. Mann is not only the best drum teacher I have seen, he is the best music teacher period. Highly recommend him and PMA! read more

I began taking violin lessons as an adult at PMA about 4 months ago. It had been years since I last played the violin so I wasn't sure what to expect. The complimentary lesson at PMA was such a positive experience that I decided to register for regular lessons. My instructor Kevin Massin is very patient and he explains and demonstrates techniques thoroughly and clearly. He is also very knowledgeable about the instrument and inspected a violin that was given to me by a friend to practice with. He asked what my goal is with regard to playing the violin. I explained that I want to play hymns proficiently at my church. So my weekly lessons are supplemented with playing hymns of my choice which makes it much more interesting and enjoyable. The cost of the lessons is reasonable and well worth it. read more

My 10 year old has been loving his drum lessons at PMA with Matt (so much so that he begged for longer classes). It seems like they have an instructor that works for every type of kid and they tailor the classes to your needs and tastes. We're so grateful! read more

When my daughter chose a cello as her 3rd grade instrument our family was really excited and surprised. She began lessons at school but felt alone as the only cello player in a large class of violins. We started her at PMA with Kevin for some 1:1 cello time and it has been such a pleasure to come here every week and watch our child learn so much. Kevin is incredibly patient and skilled with children; my daughter is sensitive and can have trouble sometimes when trying new things that are difficult but Kevin has made learning fun and she quickly got over little things like how her fingers felt funny at first. Kevin uses a growth mindset outlook- "You haven't learned how to do this.. yet" and has really helped her see that it's okay to make a mistake on the cello and try again. When the LAUSD cello really began to fall apart Kevin also helped us navigate buying a beautiful and affordable used cello from the LA Violin Shop during their yearly garage sale. His advice has been so helpful and I feel my daughter will mostly likely be able to stick with this instrument over the next few years because of the foundation he's helped her build. She's excited to go to lessons every week, which is such a different experience than I had as a kid! It's really pleasant to sit in the waiting area every week when my daughter has her lesson. They have water and snacks as well as a bathroom in a comfortable sitting area. The parking lot is super easy and my kid loves the aquarium shop next door. It really helps motivate her; she loves looking at the fish after a lesson! Thank you for such an easy and affordable way to make learning a new instrument accessible to children. read more

We had the privilege of attending Pasadena Music Academy through our homeschool program and it was such a great and memorable experience for our daughter. From the beginning our daughter was hesitant about attending but after her first session with Bella she came out more confident and open to the idea! Bella was so sweet and made us feel so welcomed. Each session felt fun and encouraged our daughter to sing more! Administration was also top notch with their customer service, quick responses to every email and question we had. We hope to be back in the near future. read more

Can't recommend this school enough, my daughter absolutely loves it, and has learned so much from her teacher Shay S. After a brief break from my guitar practice, I enrolled in weekly sessions with Tracy Lambertucci. I am an intermediate classical guitar student. She immediately figured out the path I needed to be on. Tracy improved my technique and introduced me to improvisation. Tracy is skilled and patient in her guitar teaching sessions. I would greatly recommend her as a guitar instructor. read more

My daughter has been taking lessons at PMA for almost three years now and it has been a great experience. We love the recitals. I've always felt them to have such an encouraging and celebratory atmosphere - it's been wonderful to watch my eight year old grow in her confidence and hear her tell me how proud she feels after a performance. That is very much to the credit of her teacher: Mr. Dei is kind, encouraging, and does an amazing job engaging her in the lessons by incorporating her interests, as well as supporting her through her frustrations. I also very much appreciate how he has fostered and grown her interest in the creative process of music - in the last recital she played a song she had composed with his help! Thank you Mr. Dei! Thank you PMA! Definitely recommended. read more

My son has been attending Pasadena Music Academy for almost 2 years. When his first teacher. Patrick, who we really liked, left we were wondering if we'd be as happy with his next tescher, Kevin. Kevin has been fantastic as well. We are happy with our son's progress. Thanks Kevin! read more

My daughter has been interested in singing so we were looking for school that is able to accommodate her needs and we are so glad we found Pasadena Music Academy. Ms. Marisa at the front desk who helped is so friendly and helped the registration/enrollment easily. The next part is very important to my daughter and us ...finding the right teacher. We were so lucky that on her free trial...she liked her teacher right away. Ms Elizabeth Sanchez is an incredible music teacher who truly brings out the best in every student. Her passion is contagious & her patience is unmatched. My daughter was telling me that every lesson feels inspiring and fun. So, whether you are just looking or starting to refine your skills...Ms. Elizabeth makes learning music an amazing journey and PMA is the best place to find teachers like that. My 6-year-old son started piano lessons with Maleke 3 months ago and has been loving it. When I first mentioned piano lessons, he fought me and was reluctant to go to the trial lesson. So, I had a free drum class this past weekend, the instructor was super kool. He was friendly, he made me feel very comfortable and I had a blast. I was all over the place but he made sure that I didn't lose my confidence and he rolled out some great exercises for me to work on in 30 minutes! Unlike other places, he actually had me playing instead of talking about it, he had me do it! No pressure. :) I will go back and take his class in 2025. I wish they had a system where you are not required to do automatic debit card payments. Well, they do but of course it's extra. I understand this is thing these days, but I just don't want companies going into my accounts at will. Otherwise, I would have signed up that day. The parking was great when I went, I guess it varies depending on the time you go, but it worked out for me. The rates are affordable and Andres A. is an amazing instructor who I can tell loves what he does and will help you become an amazing drummer. The facility is clean and friendly, the receptionist, Marissa is a doll, very helpful and professional. A great place to hone your skills or to learn a new musical skill. I'll be BACK. :) Yvette R. read more
