I slammed my nose into the sidewalk and after a few days I truly couldn't tell if my nose was broken or just really swollen. Luckily, after explaining my experience and timeline the office worked their magic bringing me in the following day. I did not see Dr. Weeks, and I apologize to the consummate professional who performed the Nasal Endoscopy. My examination was painless and she didn't flinch as I sneezed a couple of times. Notably, she caught the signs and removed the instrument before I went full sneeze-twice! Whew! The office is centrally located on Camino del Rio South very near Fairmount Drive exit off of I-8. When I first made an appt I was only allowed to First appt. Need to see the P.A. The Dr won't see you. Next appt a year later, still having same issue, finally see Dr. let's do a CT scan to rule out, makes sense, or do you want me to poke a whole in your eardrum, what? Yeah let's rule out. Then of course P.A. Calls back to discuss CT scan, you have no infection, that's a good sign I say, I can write a prescription for steroids (which never happened) well he mentioned a procedure could I at least talk to him about that? I'll have them call you back for an appt. To schedule that, I assume to Dr to talk about it. They call and schedule me for a procedure instead. I don't know what we are doing, why we are doing it, what to expect after doing it. Am I going under, do I eat that day? Due to the lack of medical care in general from this office I'm just cancelling. Took five phone calls due to being on hold then I'll have the scheduling people call to cancel it, never called. Fast recovery and pleased with results of my septoplasty. TMJ reduced, better sleep, and improved athletic performance. Overall good investment of my money but HAVE GOOD INSURANCE. Costs totaled ~80,000 without insurance. Since I was in network I got discounts and bills are up to ~ +6,000. Got a surprise bill (8 months AFTER) for 3,000 because they had to perform a procedure outside of what was initially estimated. Still don't understand how that amount slipped billing and it came soooo much later. Hate that the medical system IS NOT TRANSPARENT. Also would be SOO helpful if Dr. Weeks office can give us the phone numbers we will need to call to get estimates of procedures since everything is billed separately and you have to play phone tag with the ambulatory center, anesthesiologist, Dr.'s office, etc... ITS A PAIN, make it easy if we are paying so much!! Pre-Surgery: Front desk girl (the one that sits all the way to the right) was alwayssss in a bad mood. The only staff I liked there were Dr. Weeks & Dr. Janine. They were super nice and answered all my questions thoroughly. Surgery Day: Seemed like La Jolla Ambulatory Center was in a hurry. Wasn't able to speak to Dr. Weeks before surgery (was sedated before I could), and when I opened my eyes the nurses started giving me juice and getting my clothes on. was out of there in ~20min... overall it felt rushed. Surgery lasted ~1.5hrs Post Surgery: No pain!! didn't need pain killers prescribed. In 2-3 days they got the gauze out on the 1st visit and on the following visits the mucus and scabs. I felt there were too many post-op visits $$ but getting the mucus out helped a lot (no other way to do it .... can't stick your finger up that far). After 2nd visit felt the nurse was a bit careless/rough and I had a nose bleed at 4am that night that wouldn't stop. had to get my vein cauterized the next morning (hurt more than surgery). Would have been helpful to get instructions on what to do and have at hand (Afrin)! They only provided a number to call and the doctor on shift wasn't the kindest. This doctor nearly killed me! I had surgery to remove a small lump in my thyroid by Dr Weeks in July. The only consult I had before the surgery was with his PA. The morning of the surgery, after I was prepped, Dr Weeks came in and told me the lump was the size of a golf ball. After the surgery I was to be kept overnight for "observation". I was told to take my blood pressure medicine the morning before the surgery but nothing else. And not to bring my medicine to the hospital. If the evening after the surgery I was able to eat. I asked about my medicine and was told that the doctor didn't order any medicine and that they would call him. Again, I asked for my medicine and was told that the doctor didn't return their calls and that he never returns their calls. The next morning, the same thing. No medicine. The nurse just shrugged like it wasn't his problem. Overnight my throat had swollen, and I was unable to eat. I was discharged mid-day and no one had examined me. I live in Rosarito Mexico and was told by the doctor in the one time I saw him the day before that it was ok to drive home to Rosarito. By that evening I had swollen more. By 3 am it was like breathing through a straw. I was taken to hospital Del Prado in Tijuana. My blood pressure when I got there was 220/210. I was in intensive care there for two days. The doctor there told my wife and I that in another hour I would have been dead from not breathing but they were most worried about my heart due to my previous heart surgery and current BP. I went to Dr Weeks for my follow up and calmly told him the facts of what happened. He went from sympathetic to angry back to sympatric. He flat lied to me that he had ordered my medicine and said he always returns the hospital's calls. I asked him who examined me prior to checking me out. He said his PA did, hesitated and then added "by phone". This doctor is incompetent, and the hospital provided poor care because the doctor was unresponsive. I reported this to the hospital, and they said they would take action, but they wouldn't tell me what that action was. Later I was told by my new ENT doctor that this was not a small surgery. Also, I just saw on my Medicare statement a charge for removing my lymph nodes and a charge for a skin graft. This is news to me. Either he just never told me before or after or he padded his Medicare bill. read more

Pros: the surgery was successful; breathing better! Cons: the billing, out of pocket costs, surprise charges I have excellent insurance and Dr. Weeks is in-network. Pre-auth for the surgery seemed reasonable. I was charged up front out-of-pocket $125 extra for a piece for of equipment the office said is not covered by any insurance. Ok so far. But then each follow-up visit with Janine was a separate charge of $850. Surprised to get a bill for over $2500! My insurance company said that for most doctors, the surgical follow up visits are included in the global surgery charge, but Dr Weeks' office bills each as a separate charge. I feel they should have been clear about this billing practice because the post-surgical follow up appointments are necessary. If you plan to have surgery with Dr Weeks, I suggest asking them to explain ALL of the costs beforehand. read more

I wish I would have read these review before I went in. Long story short, I also got many sursrise charges and incorrect billings from things that were not done, including actual appointments! I have been trying to deal with the billing dept since March to get these taken care of. Also, I was not put out during my procedure or given anything to relax me and it was horrible and incredibly painful! I'm sure they still charged me for that, too. I came to see Dr. Weeks and ended up getting everything done by the nurse practitioner. Then the doctor came in. I'm not sure why when we have appointment we do have to wait over an hour that's not ok The person who answers the phone is not friendly at all if your dealing with patients that are in pain you should have compassion. It seems like the front was not talking to the back of the house so things took longer and meds are not being called in and I have to call them back etc.. I guess I should expect more professional and friendliness. Updating this as of 1/2019 So I have paid over 350.00 for office visit which is ridiculous and 280 for CT scan. I paid 180 for office visit for another ENT. He said I needed surgery the ENT I'm seeing now said I didn't need it. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

A+ all the way.......I had to fly from Hawaii to San Diego to see Dr. Weeks. We have no doctor's here that deals with eustachian tube dysfunction. From the girls in the reception area to the nurses & his PA....they are all wonderful. Wait time for me.....was 45 minutes on my first visit. I had no problem waiting, nothing new to me....most doctors are behind schedule. I have never experienced such a caring, compassionate doctor.....he gives you all the time you need....So maybe that's why he runs behind schedule??? I've suffered from ETD for months....I'll wait all day to see him if I have to! I'm in my 3rd week of recovery....called several times to his office with concerns...Jeanine his PA has always called me back and answered all of my questions....she's wonderful as well. Dr. Weeks is the best of the best....from his knowledge, experience, and his bed side manner is top notch. Dr Doesn't get any better.....I knew from what I researched on-line that this guy knows his stuff. My heart is full of gratitude for all the help he did for me....if anyone knows ETD you know how horrible this dysfunction is...I'm still on the mends....but I'm hopeful that everything will be OK. Had outpatient surgical procedure and his Staff was educated and well versed on insurance billing. We tend to forget that insurance companies require "us" the consumers to meet deductible's and out of pocket before payment. I have a hard time rating on here, as it is mixed. Start with the good. Dr. Weeks did my Inspire for my Apnea, it has been super helpful and I am doing well on it. He has great bedside manner the few times I saw him, and a record of being one of the few Dr.'s in San Diego to perform this procedure. Reason for 1 star: Office staff is NOT good, very unfriendly, and not helpful. Trying to call to leave messages, make appt's, etc. they just don't seem to care, wrong business to be in folks. I have left no less then 3 message to speak directly to Dr. Weeks about important information, and he has yet to call me back. Told his staff I need to speak to him directly, however I guess if I don't make an appt. and pay for his time, he will not call. I just want to speak to him so he can warn his other patients about the issue below. Dr. Weeks is great, however I saw his PA most, which is fine. When I was finally able to see him, we chatted about the pros and cons of Inspire. One of the first items i mentioned was that I have severe neck issues, and I receive RFA, Radio Frequency Ablation (basically kills my nerves for about 6 months so I don't have as much pain) on my next about every 6 months - he said that would be NO problem to still do...only thing he told me could not happen is a MRI of the chest, that I was aware of and ok with. Fast forward a bit, I am on the OR table, literally about to have my RFA, and the Dr. administering it wanted to read up on the Inspire for himself (I had mentioned this to his PA. and she was going to get approval from Weeks, however not sure where that ended up). Basically, I cannot have that procedure done ever again, it could burn the lead I have implanted.! I cannot imagine what would have happened if the Dr. went off of what Dr. Weeks told me. So now, I am in pain again all the time...and very disheartened he did not know his facts. The day of the surgery, Dr. Weeks comes into the preop, and mentions he added removing my Uvula, it will help with Apnea. Given I was minutes away from surgery, and a Dr. is recommending it, I said ok because I am sure he knows best and it was not a big procedure. I wish he would have told me at my office appointment so I had time to research it. Worst recovery pain ever - but finally healed. Issue is I choke...alot, even drinking water now. I would have probably not had the uvula removed had I had to time to research. So now, I will have to live with my chronic neck pain, when I finally found a solution. This place has to be the biggest scam I've ever seen, BEWARE!! have an ongoing war condition that I scheduled an appointment to I wasn't able to see the doctor so I saw the nurse Jeanine instead. We started years ago with his father, also an ENT and head and neck surgeon. They are both very compassionate and caring. They also work very close with associate doctors, such as radiologists, to be sure we are informed and have the very best care and outcome. His P.A., Jeannine, is also very skilled and caring and they work very close with each other. We also love Angela who does the scheduling. She is patient and helpful in working with us. I had surgery to remove nasal polyps over ten years ago. The polyps returned and so I had been researching options for removing them again. I came across a new device/process called the PolypVac Microdebrider. Instead of going under general anesthesia, they use local anesthesia and can often do an in-office, "outpatient" treatment that takes a half hour. You can watch the process done by searching PolypVac and "Ephrat" on youtube. The process seems pretty simple and straightforward. I learned through Yelp reviews that Dr. Weeks' office offers this treatment and so I called to make an appointment. The person I spoke to told me it cost $500 for one appointment and that did not include any treatment. I asked about a price quote for just the PolyVac treatment since I'm pretty confident that I have nasal polyps. The person I spoke to put me on hold and then came back to say it cost between $3,000 and $7,000. In my opinion that price is outrageous. In comparison, I recently went to a very high-tech dentist to have a new crown made. They used local anesthesia and ground away my bad tooth before 3-D scanning my remaining tooth and then computer modeling the new crown. They were able to mill a ceramic crown. The dentist had to modify the new crown before installing it. They gave me a 5-year warranty all for less than $800. I get that Dr.s have overhead and have to pay for advertising, staffing, etc., but $3K - $7K for a 1/2 hour in-office appt. seems excessive. I guess if you're a professional athlete or celebrity, this might seem more reasonable. read more

On 1/16/2023 I went to Dr. Weeks's office for a Eustachian Tube Dilation Bilateral Procedure. I never signed a consent to pay for the procedure out of pocket. I did sign a consent form for a $200.00 supply fee. On the morning of the procedure when I came into the office for the procedure already under medication for the procedure his staff then told me that I would have to pay $4430.00 out of pocket for the procedure. Since I was already high on drugs I filled out a check for that amount that they could not use because I was so high on the drugs I filled out the check incorrectly, and they had to destroy it. I did not realize what had happened in the office until later that afternoon and immediately called them about the matter with no results except that they had to talk to Dr. Weeks and never heard back from them. They are now billing me the $4430.00 out of pocket when I never signed a consent form that I would do so. I have tried to talk to his office and billing Dept. and cannot get them to contact me back. Today I received another bill from their billing Dept. for that amount. How can they bill me out of pocket for a procedure I never agreed to pay for? Is it not illegal to ask a patient to sign a form when high on medication? I just got off the phone with Dr. Weeks's office where he would not talk to me that I had to talk to his billing Dept. which I have done three times, and each time they say that they have to talk to the Dr. and each time they never call me back. read more

I switched to Dr. Weeks' office about 15 years ago for treatment for a chronic ear condition. They are in my PPO network so I have never seen any outrageous billing, considering this is a specialist's office. I rarely see the doctor because my problem is managed by ear cleaning. Jeannine has always taken care of me. I will save the doctor's time for more acute cases and surgeries. Some pointers for not having to wait too long, if you are seeing Jeannine: Come in the morning, or choose days when Jeannine is in the office and Dr. Weeks is not. I heard great things about this Dr from his colleague. Got my HMO to approve out of network because Dr Weeks does ClaraFix in office and my HMO in network doc only does it under general anesthesia in hospital. After working in a hospital during the pandemic, I wanted to avoid general anesthesia because of spike in hospital acquired illness (sepsis after surgery, Cdiff, and UTI, which is more invasive when from catheter than regular UTIs). Because my HMO would be violating the good faith covenant (requiring me to go under general anesthesia in hospital for in-network vs. Dr Weeks in-office with topical or local anesthesia out-of-network), California Department of Managed Health Care did a review of my HMO appeal denial. My HMO then approved Dr Weeks for out of network. Be aware of your patient rights! The process: PCP or specialist appeals to your insurance; if denied- file a grievance with your insurance; if still denied- report to department of managed health care (HMO) or California Department of Insurance (PPO etc). During the process, remember to document dates/times/information discussed for phone calls, and save all letters from your insurance company. read more

Went in for a simple consultation and ended up with charges for things that the physicians assistant NEVER mentioned were "above and beyond" the extent of a normal consult. She was very nice and seemed extremely competent, but I had no way of knowing i should be looking out for her to push extra services on me. On top of this, the billing department has absolutely no problem with the lack of advisement their assistants engage in. After numerous phone calls they finally got back to me and let me know I should appeal the charge with my insurance carrier...not sure why I would appeal to a party that had nothing to do with the services I was billed for, but they insisted. Continuously falling back on Dr. Weeks's assurance that the charge was appropriate. Did i get to speak with the elusive doctor, of course not. read more

Dr. Weeks is amazing! He fixed my deviated septum and everything went smoothly. My recovery was quick and 6 months later I can definitely feel an improvement in the quality if my sleep and everything else in my life. He also did his best to schedule me in quick due to my insurance coverage expiring. Turned out it just changed policies but because it was Tri West (military) we had a 6 month grace period. My wife went in a few weeks ago and found out she has Silent Sinus syndrome. They caught it right away (which a lot of ENT's don't) and this time our insurance really is gone after this month. About an hour ago, I had my aggressive Nasal Polyps removed by Dr Brian Weeks and I FEEL AMAZING!!! Dr Weeks is the most talented and caring doctor I have ever met. He is so passionate about helping his patients and goes well beyond expectations. His PA and staff are incredible at their jobs and extremely friendly. I know it was surgery but it didn't feel like it all. He used the Polypvac machine, in office, without having to be under any general anesthesia. What an awesome machine!! I had some serious nasal polyps that have been growing for the past 6 years. I couldn't taste and definitely couldn't breathe through by nose. So it also affected my sleep and the way i spoke. At times, the polyps were visible when I tilted my head up toward the mirror. In about 10 minutes and NO PAIN AT ALL, the polyps were removed. I'm am the happiest man on earth right now. You will absolutely love the office of Dr Weeks! I went in because my ears were blocked and sound was muffled. Well it turns out that my ears were filled with wax. Dr. weeks' PA Jeanine removed the wax with gentleness and a sense of humor. Dr. weeks came in at the end to examine my ears, recommend a short course of a steroid nasal spray, and educate me on what to do going forward. I will be going back every 3 to 4 months to prevent this kind of build up from happening again. Well I have been arguing with their office accounting staff for months. Watch your wallet. This P.A. that works for Dr. Weeks (Weeks is way too busy to see a simple CPAP client) NEVER disclosed the fact that although they routinely do an arthroscopic exam of the inside of your nose...they do it as a normal part of their CPAP pre-exam and that procedure is considered SURGERY! And as such, must be pre-approved or the insurance will not cover it. The cost? Oh just $300 pure out of pocket. And do they tell you that? NO. Do they even give you the option to decline it? NO. They just jump in, do it fully knowing it's not part of the normal exam code for insurance and they fully know the Insurance never covers it. Dr. Weeks came highly recommended, and I feel he did a good job on my surgery and I am happy with the outcome. BUT, the wait times in his office are ridiculous. I have been there 8 times, and never waited less than an hour. Even when my appointment was the first appointment of the day I was kept waiting for an hour! It's more common to wait 2 hours, and once I waited 3.5 hours. Completely unacceptable! I would not feel comfortable recommending Dr. Weeks because of the wait times. I understand that sometimes things come up, but not every single time. They are clearly over scheduling, and Dr. Weeks is clearly not starting his day on time. I can only speak of my experience with Dr. Weeks. First of all it takes a good month to get an Appointment. Secondly I make my appointments on time only to wait over an hour before he sees you. One of the best! Dr. Weeks is knowledgeable, compassionate and he cares about his patients. He's also easy on the eyes. Haha. But, seriously, he is. He did my septoplasty and after about a month and a half, I felt like a whole new person! That's how long it took me to recover from a nasty post-op infection (which, by the way, the PA missed and didn't diagnose-told me that it was "normal" when I complained of symptoms during our first month post-op visits). That first month and a half was unbearable. However, in the end, the surgery was a success and I can now breathe normally for the first time in my life. YAY :) There was no scarring and those pesky sinus infections seem to be a thing of the past! A++++. Another plus, Dr. Weeks made me feel really comfortable about the surgery (I'm a wuss, and I was terrified). So why only 3 stars for such a fabulous doc?!?! ABSURD wait times at the office. That's right, absurd. And ridiculous. Even when I am the first appointment of the day, I wait 45 minutes to see the doc. I'm sorry, but there's no excuse to being late to your first appointment of the day. I've waited up to 1.5 hours for an appointment with Dr. Weeks only to have the PA come in. She's very sweet and helpful as well, but I don't drive 30 minutes, wait 1.5 hours in waiting room and pay a specialist co-pay to see a PA (see my issue with the PA above). Especially when I have requested to see the doc. Another thing, a little "I'm sorry for the wait" might help ease the sting of having spent a greater part of your day in a dingy waiting room. No apology makes me feel like he thinks his time and his staff's time is more valuable than mine. And maybe that is the case, but you should never make a patient feel that way. It's RUDE. Bottom line: If you need a surgery and either don't have a job or have a job that will have you half days off for weekly and bi-weekly f/u doctors' appointments, then Weeks is your man!! If that office would stop double booking/book more appropriate windows for appointments, Dr. Weeks would have 5 stars, no doubt! He's a great doc, but those wait times..... read more

I had surgery for a deviated septum, so far I smell way better and I sleep way better. It's only been 1 week so I'll come back and update. I healed quickly it seems and so far no regrets. read more

Dr. Weeks, his PA, and his office staff are all incredible, I really can't speak more highly of them. They have given me a new respect for doctors. They were thorough, caring, extremely personable, and most important of all - they knew exactly why my husband has been having chronic sinus issues the past few years and immediately had a game plan and answers! I will tell everyone I know to go see Dr. Weeks & his team and am actually looking forward to going back next month because they're just so dang enjoyable to be around. read more

Big fan of Dr Weeks and his PA Jeannine Shively. Getting in to see the doc is hard cause he is in surgery a lot. The best usually are. Jeannine did a great job with the office visits. I had surgery for my deviated septum. I had no idea how poor my quality of life had gotten until after the surgery. My energy levels and quality of sleep improved 10 X!! OF all the office visits, only once did I feel like I waited longer than i should have. Every other time I was in the back fairly quickly. Understand that Dr. Weeks is VERY good at what he does so there is a HIGH demand for his services. book your surgery as soon as possible and be prepared to wait a little while to get on the schedule.
