I was a long time client of Dr. Tracy when he was at his old office. I never had a problem and went to his office for 7 years till I got lasik. He merged with two other doctors and now his office is inefficient and frustrating to deal with. My experience was really bad to the point that after multiple calls and dealing with the lies they keep telling me, I had to just advise my daughter to submit a grievance form with VSP. read more

I have been a client of Dr. Tracy's for more than 20 years, never a problem, always good service. But this last time there was a problem, that was not his or his staff's fault. He went to the WALL with VSP to advocate for me, and because of him the issue was resolved. I have always been happy with him and his staff, and now I'm positively THRILLED. His staff also committed to going above and beyond to find the style of frames I like, which is apparently not in the general style of what's being purchased in Sacramento. Simply put, I cannot recommend Dr. Tracy any higher. He and his office staff are the absolute best. read more

Let me start of by saying I love Dr. Tracy. He is nice, professional, and spends a lot of time with his patients. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for his office staff. I have ordered contacts after my yearly exam twice. They are supposed to be delivered in 5-6 business days. The first time I called two weeks after ordering my contacts, and apparently the staff completely forgot to order them. There was very little concern on their end. Thank goodness Dr. Tracy had given me a sample pair in office. I like Dr. Tracy so wanted to give his office another chance. It has been two weeks since I ordered contacts, and yet again - nothing. I called the office Friday morning to find out what's going on and the woman who answered informed me they can't do anything because Dr. Tracy is out of office until Monday. Uhh since when is the doctor in charge of administrative duties? They put me on hold for awhile, then tell me that my contacts are back ordered, they don't know when they will be back in stock, and they had no samples left. For reals???! His staff had no reason for not letting me know. I asked to come pick up my prescription and and the woman says they are closing in a half hour. It was 11:15 am and their business hours are until 2:30 on Fridays. Worst. Customer. Service. Ever. read more

Dr. Tracy is hands down the best eye doctor I've had. I've been going here for 6 years and he always spends the necessary time to explain everything to me. He's got a great personality and has a wonderful knack (sometimes humorous) for explaining vision terms/issues so that you can understand. I can schedule appointments when I need, the selection of glasses are awesome and his staff is always very helpful and friendly. I really wanted to give a better rating and part of me wants to give an even worse rating. But to be fair a 3 is about right overall. Pros: The doctor knows what he is doing, he's knowledgeable, friendly, and explains things as thoroughly as you want him to, he doesn't treat you like you couldn't possibly understand. One of the staff members up front is very nice and courteous, she's the older of the two I have dealt with over the 2 years I had exams here. Cons: As mentioned in a previous review, another of the staff members is neither nice, courteous nor (as stated before) professional in any way. She acts like she's doing you a favor by dealing with you. But that's neither here nor there, you'll always encounter entitled unpleasant people in life. The biggest problem was this office not ordering the contacts I requested at the time I requested them, which was December 2nd. They 'forgot'...which meant that I was unable to utilize my insurance benefit of $150 for that calendar year. Not only that, but they did not call me until late February about these contacts. When I explained how they cost me my insurance benefit for 2015 I didn't even get an attempt at an apology. I can't say who is to blame for not ordering the contacts (but I can probably guess), which is the main reason for the low rating. I can deal with office staff who have bad attitudes and questionable professionalism , as long as the doctor knows what he's doing. But when you cost me my ability to utilize my insurance which I work hard for, well that's a deal breaker and I'm done. read more

Dr. Tracy was my first OD experience in the USA after living abroad for 10 years. I had complete confidence in him and appreciate his "bedside manner" which is homespun and professional at all times. My story is that I used to wear glasses and contacts, then had lasik in 2000. Everything great until i started into my early 50s. Dr. Tracy explained my options without selling, he was dedicated to solve my vision issues, which can be summed up my "I don't see as good as I could." Have been a patient since before the move. Dr. Tracy is professional, kind and cheerful! The new space feels a bit mechanical and takes time, but you end with what you need....an eye exam and a recommendation for lenses. They now outsource the optical to another lab, but it is in the same building. It is more convenient than the last space, since you can go there anytime during office hours to get and pick up glasses. read more

Brought my 8 year old daughter here for eye exam and glasses. Dr. Tracy was amazing with her. Funny, informative, and very professional. Dr. Tracy's office staff were pretty surly, especially the woman who does the eye testing. He himself is great though and I would definitely recommend him! He did a very thorough exam of my eyes and told jokes and was super personable throughout the process. When he told me my eyes were showing signs of allergies to my contacts, I asked about Lasik. He gave me an in depth discussion of what it was, the pros and cons, and what the process would be like. He truly went above and beyond to make sure I understood my options. He was familiar with the different surgeons in Sacramento and discussed the ones he recommends based on their years of experience. His staff even called the surgeon's office and made me an appointment with them and sent over my tests and records. It's rare to find an eye doctor who truly cares about their patients like Dr. Tracy does and will take the time to sit down and talk with them. You cannot possible get better professional care and person attention than with this doctor. He listens to you carefully and really understands your needs. He is interested in YOU, not the money. I have contacts/glasses and have needed them since I was a child (so I know my eye doctors) I recently had moved out of midtown and went and saw another eye doctor (let's just say I am very upset I didn't make the drive to see Dr Tracey). Dr. Tracy is one of the rare ones - I can't say enough good things about him as a professional and an optometrist. I've had issues with my contact lenses for the past year and he has stuck in there working with me to get it right. Usually when that happens, one gets the feeling the doc thinks you are making it all up. Not so with Dr. Tracy. He's the Sherlock Holmes eye detective - working with you until he figures out the problem and gets it right. That's rare, and it has saved me alot of frustration and money. Dr. Tracy and his staff are all very friendly and helpful. He was very knowledgeable including knowing exactly what VHL is when I told him that I had it and took the time to look for VHL-related issues. He even ordered a special picture of my one eye to ensure that there wasn't any issues and directly called me when he got the results. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Tracy for a couple of years. From the beginning, he always made it clear that he would work with me to fix or, at least minimize my contact lens problems, from doing little things like changing solution or adding different eye drops to more serious measures, such as changing lenses or adding a permanent medication. I also have had issues adjusting to lenses and Dr. Tracy made an effort to fit me in for an immediate refraction. I recently had LASIK and am doing co-care with Dr. Tracy and one of his recommended Ophthalmologists (a corneal specialist who also received 5 stars) and I'm so glad I opted to go this way. Dr. Tracy has taken more time than he needed to in order to absolve my fears and describe what was going on with my eyes. I just had my follow up appointment with him, he did not rush me, answered all of my questions and appeased my inquisitive mind, despite the fact that he obviously had a full house. I feel like I know exactly what is going on with my eyes. I also feel like the level of care is much more personal than you would ever get with some of those LASIK mills and that he really cares that I get the best results. These are my eyes, after all. By the way, better than 20/20 now! read more
