I'm surprised this place got so many good ratings. I am new to the area and wanted to try out a new coffee shop instead of working from home. I looked the up the place online to check out the menu. I decided to come and get breakfast, coffee and work. I was told by the ONE employee (young Asian man) working here that sandwiches were not available until noon. I settled for a bagel and cream cheese. There was also only whole milk for the coffee-no skim, no 2% or 1%. The coffee is subpar. The bagel and cream cheese was awful. Another customer came in after me (a white male) and ordered a sandwich. He was given a modified sandwich (egg on toast). This was not offered to me. I questioned the employee about it and he said that I requested a sandwich with bacon and that meat would not be available until noon. I was not given the option to have the sandwich without meat. I told him that I didn't want the bagel and wanted a refund. He said he would not give me a refund. I asked for the manager's name and number. He refused to give it to me. The concession he did make was to give me an egg sandwich that he had given the other customer. There is much better coffee and service down the street at Cafe Dolma (going to write them a great review next). Starbucks and Dunkin donuts have better coffee and service than Brewshot. Honestly, I think this business does not care because there are a lot of apartments in the area and people just pop in for (bad) coffee. And to make matters worse-there is no A/C in this coffeeshop and its 88 degrees outside! read more

It's a shame that they got rid of the location in Cast Iron Lofts. That spot sold alcohol so you had the best of both worlds. I've only been here once and was surprised at how chill and quiet it was. Then again, everything near Zeppelin Hall is kinda isolated. The service was good, the vibes were good, they just need to work on the air conditioning because I was about diiiiiie. Absolutely disgusting. Matcha was not even green in the container it literally looked expired or just not matcha. She didn't even whisk the powder literally just poured milk on top of the powder. Beautiful new coffee shop right next to Zeppelin Hall. Super clean inside, comfortable furniture; the cafe is spacious with high ceilings and relaxed music in the background. Great place to do a little laptop work or just hang out and chat. Coffee of the day was very good. A modest but appetizing selection of pastries and muffins were available. Friendly customer service. A tad expensive (one coffee for me and one tea for my friend came out to about six bucks) so it won't be my everyday coffee stop, but defnitely a place I will come back to from time to time and enjoy. read more

Located in Paulus Hook by the beer garden, this spot will be a maven for those living in all the condos up in this hood. I've heard a lot of buzz and recommendations about this place, so I was excited to finally stop by today and check it out. Here's a quick rundown of my experience: 1) For midday on a Saturday, there was lots of available nearby parking. (This is a very important factor in Jersey City.) 2) The wooden decor is modern and clean cut, feels very spacious with their use of mirrors and windows, and lots of seating. Ambiance is quiet and calm, but very welcoming and friendly. 3) Diverse choice of beverages and food items. (I had the Americano, and chicken cutlet, rabe, and mozz breadcup by Grandma Downtown. Both delicious!). 4) And the service was great. The ladies behind the counter were knowledgeable, very friendly, and brought out my order in a timely service. Brewshot offers a really diverse menu of coffee beans and organic teas. The interior is very simple yet edgy with it's mainly light tanned wood theme. If you're looking for something beyond your local coffee experience then this place is definitely worth checking out. I wouldn't stop here in the morning for my usual cup of joe but when I'm in the mood for a specialty cup with a shot of espresso I'll definitely be stopping by here again. read more

Most important to me in a cafe are the ambiance and the coffee. In the former, Brewshot takes the crown. I love the meticulously-crafted design, the wood-themed furnishing, the high ceilings & large windows, and the list goes on. The ease of finding parking within 2-3min walk from the cafe is just gravy on top. On the coffee, I find that it lacks consistency; I have not had the pleasure of experiencing a good latte or cappuccino during my two visits. However, I've been told that the watery cappuccino I had was not the norm. All in all, while this place has a lot of potential, I have yet to see it delivered. read more

This the only bad review I have ever written on Yelp. I used to like the place and Casper has always been nice. But the attitude and rudeness of the other guy has been off the limit. There was one time I sneezed with my mouth covered and used their napkins to clean up. He came over and forcefully asked me to go wash my hands. There is no problem with the request and I guess I should have done that before he asked. But as oppose to a gentle reminder, his rudeness was a bit surprising and his pose of picking a fight was pointless and annoying. I didn't expect a small thing like this could end up in a big argument. There were multiple other times when he didn't hear what I wanted because of the loud music and asked me to repeat, no problem with that at all but please do that politely, and do not act as if being offended. I don't think this guy is happy working at the coffee shop. Neither do I think he is suitable for a job like this as he doesn't know how to treat people with respect. I would hope the manager or the owner of the place take a look at the review and make some changes to the services. All other staff are super nice and I don't think you would want to lose business because of one bad outlier. read more

Being that I live so close to this place I'd love to give it a good review, but it's impossible. The coffee has always been subpar if not just bad (the bean they're using is terrible), service takes forever and the staff has what appears to be minimal training (or they just don't care). When they added some breakfast items to their menu I decided to give them another shot. Got a few bagels with cream cheese to go. Came home only to discover the cream cheese was barely detectable. May as well have just ordered a plain bagel. Despite having lox on the menu when asked for it the staff member had no idea what I was asking for. Although the cafe itself is reminiscent of a cubicle office, including JC residents completely enthralled in their work, it is still a cool spot with a focus on coffee. The barista/cashier was super cool, informed us of music events that take place on Saturdays and how the cafe wants to reach out to JC artists as they are currently looking for work to adorn the cafe with. This really interested my date, who's an artist, but it piqued my interest too. My latte was great, the conversation about art, music and travel was greater... and I would definitely come back to this cafe! Stopped in today and ordered a large black coffee. My girlfriend ordered a cold brew. The barista handed my coffee to someone else, and the other barista made me the wrong drink in the meantime. I said no, I wanted a regular drip coffee, then she realized she gave it to another customer. So she goes and grabs it from the dude and just poured it into a new cup and handed it to me. This place has so much potential and I wanted to like it but my latte was terrible. In addition to the awful taste it wasn't mocha or oat milk like I asked. The avocado toast was the worst part. Literally a slice of untoasted cold bread with a terrible excuse for a guac mix and eggs that just barely touched a pan for maybe 10 seconds. Brewshot is awesome! I've been working from here for the past 2 days on my laptop while waiting for my home internet to get fixed :( Everyone working here is super nice and knowledgeable. Very hip, positive vibe with lots of sunlight. The tea is excellent and so is the pastry :) Wifi is also solid. Great place! My go to for studying or actually getting work done. Coffee is always on point and a good selection of treats. Service is not overly friendly (read: fake) but not rude by any means. I always order my coffee then grab a table and the barista always brings my coffee over to me. Only complaint is the bathroom situation. I've literally never seen it stocked with paper towels (which I can live with) and half the time doesn't have toilet paper either. However, they share the bathroom with the residential building's lobby so I feel it is the buildings job to maintain the bathroom so I wouldn't blame Brewshot :-). This and Warehouse Cafe are my go to coffee spots in Jersey City. Great vibe and great place to spend a few hours. read more

All the drinks I have had here have been excellent. The iced coffee was strong and flavorful and well made. The cappuccino is great: strong, with a hint of sweetness, and lots of flavor without being bitter. Definitely better than most coffee shops in North Jersey that I have been to. I also had some kind of pastry which was delicious. Free wifi is also a plus and the service was friendly and efficient. It's not a huge place but there was plenty of seating for everyone there.
