Despite being fully satisfied with the sandwich, I finished the meal off with the beignets covered in chocolate sauce. It was a perfect dessert and well worth the calories. Instead of treating me respectfully, staff immediately focused on questioning me and demanding "papers" for my service animal in a very aggressive and humiliating way. What made the situation worse was the tone and behavior. I repeatedly tried to explain calmly, but I was spoken to dismissively and made to feel unwelcome in front of other people. I ended up leaving extremely distressed. I know my rights under ADA laws, and businesses should know that employees are not allowed to demand documentation or certification for a service animal. There should be proper staff training on how to handle these situations professionally and respectfully. No customer should be treated this way.

However, with this latest re-branding, they are a warm and inviting place (I'm sure they were before too, I just didn't know!). The espresso is still great, and the pastries are wonderful. In particular, their empanadas are the absolute best in the Heights, and they experiment a little with them. This morning I had my usual Bacon & Egg, and also tried their new Prosciutto and Mozzarella, both were fantastic. Also a fan of their Beef & Sweet Plantain one. Grabbing quick breakfast now on my way to work has become part of my daily routine here and I can't believe I lived next to this place for so long and missed out! She makes the drinks, food and bussed the tables. There was plenty of space for everyone to read, catch up, or just hang out . The decor is very charming and cozy.
