This humble deli serves what at this point I have determined to be the best in the city, and at a wonderfully low price point (around $5 on my last visit a few months back. The sandwich is compact tight and just the perfect amount of filling, leaving you satisfied and satiated enough to start your day but not so stuffed that you're already ready for a nap. Grab one to go and eat it on the run or, should you have some time to kill and the weather is pleasant take the short walk though the lovely brownstone blessed neighborhood to the nearby leafy and serene Van Vorst park and soak up the atmosphere while enjoying the salty goodness.

The one with pesto, chicken cutlet, and tomato packed a ton of sharp garlic flavor in every bite, while the basic chicken parm with cheese was also delicious. Sandwiches are gargantuan--one easily feeds two hungry people. I would recommend going there if you have transportation (I did not) because they arrived a bit cold and very late on UberEats (but I don't fault the restaurant for any of that).

I ordered their Cold Sandwich #4 via Grubhub and I appreciate that their prices are the same as their website. The chicken cutlet is nicely seasoned and has a good thickness. It does get slightly overtaken by the mozzarella simply because of the size of it. The seeded semolina was soft, slightly chewy, but mostly fresh. I absolutely loved the chipotle mayo and cold crispness of the lettuce and fresh tomato that brightened each bite. I know this is a cold sandwich but I would honestly prefer it if the chicken cutlet and semolina bread was warm. They had other sandwiches that caught my eye, so I'll just have to go back soon. Good try!

For my daughter's birthday they gave her a box of David's cheese seeds, which tells you everything you need to know about the kind of people they are. They even hooked me up with a Puchu's hat, which I wear proudly. The two brothers who run it are awesome. They're twins, one's always got this huge smile, the other is a little more low key, but both are genuinely good guys who treat people right. They've got a little bit of everything. Maybe not every single item under the sun, but all the essentials are there. Produce, snacks, chips, salsa, rice, taco kits, all the random things you realize you need at the last second. It's just easy. Hours are what they are, but honestly, these guys show up for the neighborhood and that's what matters. Friendly, reliable, and just solid people. I love Puchu's and I'm really glad they're around.

Katz is super hyped up and after coming, I can totally see why! If you're a fan of thick, meaty…read moresandwiches, you will LOVE Katz. If you have to order one thing, order the pastrami sandwich. This may be the best pastrami that I've ever had. We also had the Reuben which was enjoyable, but not as mind blowing. The sandwiches themselves are huge and can be split between two people. Everything here is a bit on the pricey end for what it is, but it is a must visit if you're visiting New York. The restaurant itself is very casual and gives diner vibes. They have both a self service option and a seated option. I opted the self service where you go to the counter and order your food and find a seat to have it. We came on a Monday and even then the lines were longggg (all the way down the block) and it took a while to find a seat. Service is friendly though!

I've had quite a few reubens and this place sets the bar for the best. It's been around for 138 years and going strong and fit good reason. The pastrami is so moist and perfectly seasoned and the sauerkraut is tangy. The rye bread is delicious. They cut up the meat right in front of you and it's a show in itself. It even comes with homemade pickles on the side. The sandwich is huge and definitely something I would recommend sharing. It isn't cheap but worth every penny. There are lots of tables but they are always busy, but you'll find a spot eventually. You can read up on their history with the signage in the window. No trip to NYC is complete without a trip here. Make the pilgrimage, you won't regret it!
