Traveling through Nashville on the way to Memphis, it was time to eat and I didn't want fast food, but rather a unique restaurant to the area-no chain. I could tell this was a local favorite. They had a lot of drink specials, but since I was driving I stuck with water. Their menu was good and I enjoyed the chicken salad and my son had a burger. They had a lot of TVs and looked like a great place to hang out to watch games. They had my favorite things-trivia nights and karaoke. I wish I lived near this place. The service was good and welcoming.

Great place for an extended hang & cheap drinks. Met a group of friends here at 3 on a Sunday & stayed until nearly 8. Vibe went from very quiet to lively as the day moved on. Good food & cheap drinks make this divey spot a gem. I plan on being back for more hangs. I had the Cajun club sammy & it was very good. Fries are slamming also.

I love coming to this local bar! The texas melt was delicious with the jalapeño mayo. The grilled fish salad was so fresh and yummy. Drinks are cheap and the servers are nice! They have music bingo, trivia, and karaoke on different days of the week. A great local spot if you are not in the mood for a crazy night out downtown!

Brewhouse West is definitely a locals spot, without question and I can truly see why the locals love this place! We recently moved to the area and Brewhouse came highly recommended as a good place for a beer and some solid bar food. The beer is top notch in selection and price, the food part needs a little work. Brewhouse West is a no frills, local, dive/sports joint where the locals of all sorts come to have a strong cocktail, local beer, cheap burger, saucy wings or even some fried alligator...all while catching the game on one of the many TV's throughout the place. One thing that immediately attracted us to Brewhouse, outside of the location to our house, was their ALL DAY HAPPY HOUR! It is legit an all day thing with specials on cocktails, wine and beer! At some points of the night and on the weekends, you can get up to 50% off of your beverages...so, sign me up! We have been here a few times now and each time dined and drank in the main dining room/bar area. They do have a more private side room and a covered back patio as well. I look forward to the warmer months, as I was told they have great patio vibes and live music on certain nights out back! Parking is not an issue here. They have a few VIP spots up front, but if you are not lucky enough to scoop one of these up then they have a large lot in the back. Each time we have visited we usually just stick to the beer menu, which features all the classics, but also a rotating local tap. I am hooked on the Mayday Boro Blonde Ale! Food wise, they serve up a mix of classic bar food as well as Mexican and Creole inspired dishes. We have sampled a few things from the menu including the Chicken Club Wrap, Patty Melt and the famed Chipotle BBQ wings. The wrap has been hit and miss, as the first visit it was perfection, however on the second time in it was not put together very well and did not have a good ratio of chicken, cheese to lettuce. The patty melt was tough, as in tough to get through. I do not want to say the burger and bread were stale, but they definitely spent more time under the heat lamp than they should have. On the flip side, the wings were excellent! They were tender, perfectly smoked and absolutely coated in the chipotle bbq sauce...and then you dip them in that spicy ranch, boyyyyyyyyy!!! Service has been solid. You can tell they are understaffed right now, as is everywhere, but they are handling it quite well. The servers have been helpful, friendly and done a great job! Overall, I enjoy Brewhouse West for what it is! It is not on the top of my culinary recommendations list for Nashville, but it definitely sits close to the top for local divey-sports bars with excellent happy hours!

We were staying down the street and the desk clerk recommended the Brewhouse. We are so glad we went. We were greeted upon arrival and told we could sit wherever we liked. Our server, Hunter, was outstanding. He was patient, friendly & knowledgable of the local brews on tap. He worked hard to make sure we had an enjoyable visit. I got the jambalaya and it was very delicious. Cooked & seasoned perfectly. The onion rings are amazing. Their fried catfish is delicious as well. The interior is typical bar seating with TVs with various sporting events.

Plenty of parking space and I came to dine alone...ordered mojo wings. These were fantastic, spicy and the wings were not dried out, the server (Robbie) was phenomenal.

When friends become family!…read more The dictionary defines family as people connected by blood, legal ties like marriage or adoption, or strong emotional bonds. Herb and the entire staff at Voodoo Gumbo established a strong emotional bond with my family and me over four years ago, and EVERY TIME I come to Nashville, this is my go-to place to enjoy great food and even better company. I came back to celebrate my recent retirement following 25 years of service in the Air Force. Not only did Herb remember me, but he thought it no robbery to celebrate me with a very special dessert--I've totally been sleeping on the bread pudding and beignet on Sunday--IYKYK! The food here is always top tier--no wonder they have such a high rating with over 500 reviews-- but the personal touches are next level. Thanks always.

There is cross-contamination -- but I am able to have it. It's so rare to find gluten free fried foods, especially seafood!! The food was not only good, it was GREAT!! Everything was delicious! Shrimp was crispy and slightly sweet, some of the best I've had inland! Red beans and rice was so smokey and had a bit of sweetness to it, oh buddy it was great! On top of that, everyone was super nice. Guy who seated us was rlly friendly, girl who waited on us was SO helpful with answering my questions! We ended up with beignets that my husband said were the best he's had outside of NOLA. We got to meet the owner on our way out and he seems like someone who has a real passion for what he does. The decor was nice too - very on brand! It feels cozy in there, and everyone seemed to know each other - felt like a sweet little community spot. Currently trying to think of reasons to come back to Nashville so we can eat here again ! Only place we ate twice on our trip

I love…read moreVietnamese food and I love seafood, so I was curious, but I had never eaten crawfish and certainly never done this fusion style of boil. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. We finally got the plan out of the group chat and into real life for a girls' night on Sunday. Parking is limited but easy right in front, if you come on the earlier side (which we did). Our Vietnamese friend was running late, so my other friend and I placed the order off a very explicit text from her. We did a make-your-own boil: four pounds of crawfish and two pounds of shrimp in Cajun garlic butter, plus red and green sauces on her advice. One tip I wish we'd known going in: there's a Vietnamese menu and an American menu, and we ordered off the American one. The boil wasn't as spicy as we'd hoped, but it still had plenty of flavor and a decent kick. If you're spice averse, the Cajun garlic butter is still a safe bet with a lot of depth of flavor. The food came fast and took over the entire table. A huge tray of crawfish, shrimp, corn, and potatoes arrived with gloves, a trash can, and a spread of fixings to add more spice and flavor, if you so choose. It is messy and we replaced our gloves and trash can about halfway through. It is also SO incredibly satisfying to crack a shell and eat the meat straight out of it, dripping in butter and whatever seasoning you've mixed up. You work for every bite, which somehow makes the indulgence feel earned. As a first-timer, I'd say crawfish tastes a little like lobster, and I honestly liked it more. Everything tasted extremely fresh, which I suspect is why this place has a following. When our friend arrived, she added two orders of grilled scallops from the Vietnamese menu. They come in the shell with butter, fresh herbs, and breadcrumbs, and they were outstanding, an absolute must-order item. She called all of this the "appetizer" portion of the meal. The main event, apparently, was three bowls of Vietnamese udon soup: a heaping bowl of rich broth with aromatics, pork, crab, and shrimp. It was deeply flavorful and a great complement to the boil. The broth really soothed my allergies and I appreciated that the seafood boil was not a salt bomb like other boils I've been to. We finished nearly all the boil and every scallop, then took at least half of each soup home. With tax and tip, it came to about $99 per person for the three of us. For this much seafood at this quality, that's a great deal. I'm already planning my next visit and have told everyone I know. (Literally, lol, even friends who don't live in Nashville heard me raving about this spot!) I wish the rest of the meal had been on that same level. I ordered the peel and eat shrimp boil and specifically asked for the Cajun butter on the side. Everything in the boil seemed extremely overcooked. The eggs had the green ring around the yolks that you get when they've been boiled far too long, the corn was so tough and overcooked that it was nearly impossible to eat, and the sausage tasted very cheap and also overcooked. The shrimp were the biggest disappointment. Several had a green goo inside that was incredibly unappetizing, and after seeing that, I could barely continue eating the meal. Even the Cajun butter was disappointing. It tasted like butter mixed with the seasoning packet from instant ramen rather than a flavorful Cajun butter. I really wanted to like this place, especially since the appetizer and oysters were good, but my entrée was honestly awful. For a restaurant specializing in Cajun seafood, I expected much better quality and preparation. I left having barely eaten my dinner and feeling like the entire boil was a waste.
