Came here for breakfast because our child had an event at Lawrence University and needed someplace to eat. Had an iced coffee and bagel with cream cheese and it was amazing- so delicious and earthy. Came back to Appleton for a girls shopping weekend and had to come back here! Everyone said the drinks and food were incredible. What is also nice is that both times I've been here, the staff is extremely nice! It will now be my favorite place to drop in when I'm in downtown Appleton. Love this cute place. read more

Quick rundown: Tasty food options, patient staff who are happy to explain anything to you. Slow walk-down: My friend and I had been burned and left wanting after a less than fruitful visit to another establishment earlier in the day...(see: my review of Lou's Brew Cafe). So we were hungry, parched, and looking for a quiet and cool respite from the raucous Mile of Music-ing. Maybe because we were already so low and just happy for anything, but I was truly very pleased with our visit here. Since they weren't hosting any concerts, it was pretty empty and quiet. Also it was, I think, within an hour of their closing time, but they didn't try to rush us out and did not make us feel like we were being difficult. And...we might have been a bit difficult. My friend had a lot of questions, specific dietary needs, and is pregnant so has some very specific wants. None of which is bad. Just sometimes...businesses and workers can get annoyed with even a single question. But here they did not. They were full of information and happy to share it, never hesitating to offer a recommendation or answer a question. Thank you for your patience and friendliness! I got an iced coffee of some kind. I don't know which one specifically...but I know it was delicious and it certainly hit the spot. I also got a piece of quiche. They had a looooong list of available kinds of quiche, they all looked delicious, so I just told them to choose one and surprise me. It was a little strange to see it delivered with grill lines on it, but I think they just used a panini press to heat it up. Which...hey, good use of existing kitchen tools! And it made the crust less soggy than one that was heated up in the microwave. It doesn't change the taste, and it was delicious. It also came served with some apple slices, which was a nice, tasty, refreshing surprise. My family members have a deep love for Copper Rock for coffee and breakfast foods. The staff is so friendly! My mom-brain one time ordered my latte and forgot to substitute the milk, they made a new one for me for free even though it was my bad. This place is wonderful. We stopped for a mid morning coffee and my husband had the quiche. The coffee was great and they always have either almond or coconut milk for the vegan customers. My husband gave the quiche a rating of 3 on a scale of one to 5; he said it was a standard quiche nothing special. Their staff has always been very friendly and accommodating. They are also very dog friendly and had a separate water dish ready and waiting for our furry friend. One thing that they could do better is the table supports. There are always napkins pinned under them to balance the tables. It makes it look a bit less clean. read more

This is a pretty good coffee shop. The atmosphere is cute in a retro way, the coffee is excellent and the food is pretty good. There are gluten-free and vegan options that are yummy! For a breakfast trip I ordered the steel cut oats, which were tasty but dry. They provided some toppings to be added such as almond slivers, pecans and sugar, but those jars were inconveniently placed on a low bookshelf-type stand with no spoon or way of dispensing. I worry that people might be tempted to use their own used spoon to refresh their oatmeal toppings. Yuk. There are lots of menu options, and just about everything looked good. I'm eager to try a couple of the vegan burgers some lunch time. The service was a bit slower than I expected, but not really too bad. Still, it is indeed a pleasant place with good food and good coffee. A guy was at one end of the shop noodling on a guitar with a donation jar nearby. That's a fine thing. I think with a little added attention to customer service, this could be a five-star coffee shop. I'll be stopping in again. read more

This is a great place to study or work - though come with a full laptop battery because there are limited outlets in inconvenient locations. In the summer they have a nice back patio. It does get cold in the winter since they have a back and front door that makes it a bit drafty. Friendly staff is willing to help out with the extensive menu. read more

I've been to Brewed Awakenings three times. It's cute and has a great menu, but I've had some issues with the food and drinks. I recently got the vegan gyro and it was almost inedible. I wanted to love it and it was a cool concept, but the gyro "meat" (made of seitan) was chewy, rubbery, and undercooked. I wish I realIzed this soon enough to try to get it remade, but I had my order to go. The third time I went, I got the "Duke of Earl Grey" and the soy milk used was visibly chunky and curdled. The drink tasted sour and spoiled and unfortunately I had to toss it but got no compensation or refund. read more

I don't tend to write reviews os places, as I think they can be sometimes unfairly evil. That said, after today's experience at this place, well, I think it's well deserved. I ordered a 1/2 sandwich, soup combo. The soup was supposed to be asparagus & prosciutto soup. What I received instead was a brown, curdled mess that looked amazingly similar to cat vomit. It tasted about like I would imagine cat vomit tastes as well. I mentioned to the woman behind the counter that I thought the soup had been made incorrectly, as it was inedible and rather gross. Her response? "Oops." Then she turned around and walked away. I waited around for about 5 minutes to see if there would be any further reaction / interaction. But, no. That was the end of it. So, yeah. I can't honestly recommend this place and would suggest steering clear. There are plenty of other coffee shops in the area with much better food and service. read more

We had just left Harmony Café when they said they could not guarantee contamination free food (see review) The woman on the phone said they were not concerned with being careful. Their gluten free food was always Cross contaminated. This encompasses all food labeled Gluten Free, deserts, salads etc. There are no precautions taken to keep Gluten from contaminating their products. Those who prefer gluten free eating as a personal choice may be comfortable eating here. Those who are sensitive, intolerant or suffer from the disease of Celiac Sprue, should NOT eat the food here. read more

This is one of your cozy local downtown coffee houses. Nothing exceptional but I wanted to write a review just because of their gelato. They make their own and it is delicious! There are different flavors every week. Most I have tried are good but their dark chocolate mint is life changing. Rich, creamy and an all natural flavor. I could see tiny specks of vanilla bean in their vanilla gelato - a sign that they use real vanilla bean and not the artificial stuff. As for the coffee...they brew and serve Alterra, a fair trade and organic Milwaukee based brand. In case you're into drinking 'socially responsible' coffee. They also have the usual coffee shop food - paninis, wraps, coffee cakes etc. What I dislike about this place is the hours - closes way too early over the weekends. Go for a gelato and coffee on your next trip to the farmers market. :) read more

I don't go here very often for two reasons. 1) They serve Alterra coffee - although it is supposedly "fair-trade", it is WAY too acidic to be considered palatable. 2) Can you do something about the odor - when I leave here, my clothing smell acrid and "food-ish". The coffee was good but they did run out of vanilla syrup and when I went back the next day they were still out of it. How hard is it to find vanilla syrup in Appleton? Really impressed with the vegan selection here! I tried two vegan muffins - blueberry banana and raspberry chocolate. They were both delicious but the blueberry banana was my fav between the two. This place has the worst customer service I have ever seen. I went in there with a coworker today who was asking a few general questions and while asking the questions to the lady behind the counter, the lady behind the counter was very short with my coworker and was also texting while working. She intentionally failed to answer the question about portion size and therefore my coworker paid way too much for the portion she got. This is not good customer service at all nor is it respectful. Also in addition to that, the pricing is way too high for the amount of food you get especially for the quality of the food. I would not recommend this place to anyone and I myself will no longer be a customer here. read more

I enjoy the quiet and simplicity of Brewed Awakenings. I have only had their medium blend coffee, it was lovely to enjoy a warm fall day sitting at a window table getting work done and watching the happenings of College Avenue. Both ladies working were so polite and kind. There were several older clients chatting at a table. Some would dismiss these older, ragged folk for taking up a table but they were not only welcomed in but given warm conversation. I'll be back. read more
