There are both classic tiki and newer creations available, and during happy hour, some of the simpler drinks (like Mai Tais) are discounted. If you are new to tiki, you might get frustrated with some of the service times, but each drink can be so complex, they take a little longer than your average rail to make (but it's worth it for the layered flavors). Breaker's Roar is my favorite bar in Christiansted, and it is great either as a first drink of the night spot, or as a final hurrah. I have never had a bad drink from them, and I don't even have a favorite, everything I have tried is so delicious. Each drink also comes in a carefully selected vessel, and that id definitely part of the equation in placing an order. The last time we went, there was also a small bites menu that was a pleasant surprise. We liked the two plates we tried, but already had dinner reservations. Next time we go back, we plan to eat a full meal. This place is a must if you are on the boardwalk!

The shrimp and cheesy grits had a roux that was reminiscent of what I've had in Louisiana. Totally rocked it. They don't have desserts on the menu, but the chef whipped up something on the spot. It was a grill slice of angel food cake with apples, and she topped it with homemade caramel and oats. I stopped in later during my stay on the island and had the breakfast jambalaya. The addition of a fried egg and avocado kicked it up several notches. Glad I passed by this cafe and stopped in. Everything was full of flavor, and the cocktails really stood out. One issue we experienced was with the billing. We were a party of three, but my son and I were on one bill while my cousin was on a separate bill. The waitress provided two clipboards, yet the charges were still mixed up and placed on the wrong bills. Although she corrected it, it wasn't an easy fix. Additionally, the wait time to receive and pay the bill was longer than expected. It did get busy, and it seemed like the waitress struggled a bit with multitasking. On a positive note, the ambience is really nice. As shown in my photo, you can see the water while seated, which adds to the overall experience. Will I return?
