Ok, this place is a little rigid to get into. Even if you walk up, they try and force you to make reservations on a website. Very off-putting and frustrating as you are on an island that barely had 4g cell service most times. I bugged them enough and they made the reservation for me. Funny part is, place was empty. First and foremost, the food was good. More craziness now. They start by telling me to disregard what the menu says as a certain item does not have this side, but another side. We did that for like 4 items. When it came time to order I asked if I could substitute a side of mashed potatoes for what came with that dish. No. No substitutions. They are the ones that started the whole substitutions game. Not very flexible. I could understand it if it was like a Friday or Saturday night, nope, Tuesday. My steak was cooked to perfection and was not over-seasoned. Exactly how I would want a steak. Was so good. Potatoes great as well. Had good lumps with excellent flavor. Same for asparagus. Crab cakes were great as well. They just need to work on their customer service instead of acting like customers were bothering them. I understand that they get drunk and vacation travelers, but we were a super friendly bunch and easy going. Frustrating when the staff set the tone of the experience. Food game is on point here. As long as you are Ok with being talked to in a peasant tone you should be fine. If you are hangry, might try another place as this may put you over the edge. We loved the patio area and the hanging lights. The ambiance was great. Tip: Gratuity was already included in our check. We invited friends to join us on a Sunset Sail from Frederiksted then dinner afterward. The sail was perfect on a full moon night with calm water. Previously, upon hearing recommendations from local friends and from Lyric Sails (which included a discount), we booked a reservation for 6 people at restaurant "Six Nine". After the sail, we approached Six Nine for our confirmed reservation at 7:30 to find the restaurant closed. We scurried around town to end up eating tacos at a crowded bar. Very embarrassing! A bad experience that could have been mitigated by rejecting the reservation so that we could find another restaurant or at least informing me when the restaurant decided not to open. You will find this place near the Fort and cruise ship terminal. This is a chill little restaurant that had bar and covered patio seating. The staff there is very friendly. This area is pretty much a ghost town when there is not any cruise ships in and this was one of the few places that I could find that was open late in the afternoon on a Sunday. Currently, a mask is required to walk to your seat. The patio is very nice. That is where I was seated right away. Just beware of the chickens and their little chicks that swarm there. They are all over the place. The bar is a full bar with a huge selection of wine.....talk about fancy. The restaurant has an extensive wine menu, some signature cocktails and bottomless mimosas. There food menu is limited, and has breakfast and brunch items including pasta, salads, calamari, fish, oysters, burgers, pancakes, omelets, and chicken. They have separate menus for brunch, lunch, and dinner, that they serve from depending on the time of day. I had the brunch menu and got the bacon cheeses burger, with a side of fries. It took about 15 minutes for me to get my meal. When I saw my burger, I was like whoaaaa, that thing is huge. It was also very tasty. The fries were also good. It is hard to mess those up, but I have seen it done. I highly recommend trying the burger. My meal was reasonably priced, especially compared to other island joints. This restaurant does accept reservations. It was not very bust when I was there so I did not need one. However, you may want to consider making one if you plan on visiting during peak times, especially since options may be limited. I enjoyed my meal here. We came after the lyric sails sunset boat ride and was pleased that they offered discounted beverages. We came in the server was nice. She sat us early and was very accommodating with our food allergies and such. The Mahi was dry and bland, even with sauce added to it, it was dry and bland. It took forever for the food to come out as well, not sure why. There were people who came in after us that were served before us. The court yard and lighting was very nice and intimate. I absolutely adored the ambiance of this location. Our group of five made the mistake of heading out for dinner without making reservations but we lucked out with a table right by the kitchen when we arrived. They had live music in the courtyard and the nighttime lighting was just perfect. I didn't love my first drink and can no longer recall what it was but they made up for it with my second drink. We tried a variety of foods and desserts and enjoyed just about every bite. You need to grab the key for the restroom by the entrance and be prepared for a stinky room and yellow water when you first go to wash your hands, but that's just part of being on the island!
