As with other restaurants in St Croix, we visited after reading glowing reviews of Cibone. We visited on a weekday, seated without reservation. The restaurant is found on King Street, one block parallel to waterfront street, Strand. Walking to the restaurant, one immediately notices small groups of men, sitting on the sidewalk and standing in front of a small grocery across the street from Cibone. They are in conversation, drinking beers, and the aroma of cannabis (legal in St Croix) wafts over the air. The scene was a bit disconcerting initially, but we walked to the restaurant and after dinner to the car, unmolested, barely noticed by the Cruzans. The restaurant is housed in a wooden structure, perhaps a house in prior years. Entering, the proprietor sits right of the smallish bar, the bar right of entry to the eatery. There are tables within the main structure, and tables left of entry on the covered patio. We were immediately greeted by the staff and directed to our table on the patio, patio seating always the preference of my dear lady. Micah, our waiter, filled our drink order, and presented the days menu, written on a small "blackboard" at the tableside. The menu was somewhat limited, and unfortunately, seafood dishes that we had read were not available, a consequence of the rough seas courtesy of Beryl. The restaurant serves fresh seafood, from boat to table...our misfortune. The restaurant offers a full bar, but interestingly, there is no wine list which one might peruse before choosing. We inquired of sauvignon blanc, and our requests were satisfied...the label we were never advised. We thought this curious, but none the less, the wine was satisfactory. We began our exploration of the menu with the Cibone crab cake. Three are offered on plate, with lines of sauce crossing the squares of cakes. Reviews had rated these cakes quite highly, but frankly we considered them heavy on breading, and light on crab. The appetizer was a bit of a disappointment. We chose the salmon, and unhappily, the fish was a bit overcooked, somewhat dry, lacking adequate sauce. The second entree was the grilled shrimp, and this dish was the better of the two, the shrimp well finished. But in truth, our expectations were of a true culinary delight, having read the reviews. The offerings overall were good, but not exceptional. For a satisfying meal, Cibone would satisfy most palates. The staff throughout were welcoming, of good cheer, but at times the service a bit slow. In fairness, there is a solo chef working with one sous chef at his side. This restaurant is very popular with the locals, but after our visit, we consider Cibone a work in progress, offering not elegant cuisine, but rather menu items borne of a home grown, self taught chef. read more

If you want a relaxed, upscale, local dining experience, come to Cibone. Reservations recommend, we arrived without, and were welcomed after a quick check. Ebony, took wonderful care of us. The dishes of Cajun Seafood Alfredo and whole fried snapper (a favorite) were worth every minute of wait. And remember, you're on an island not at your local Applebee's. Enjoy the atmosphere. We went to eat at Cibone. The place was small and island themed and staff pleasant. We ordered and waited almost an hour and a half when the server came back and said they could not get the gas tanks changed in order to cook. We were starved and left. No one bothered to tell us there was an issue. We assumed it was due to the general assumption that the food was going to take a bit. I wanted to try another day. I came here for dinner with my friends and had been wanting to try this restaurant. We made reservations, but really it wasn't needed it is a small cozy space. I can see it being great for a date night. I ordered the vegetable stir fry. What I got was dry vegetable fried rice. I needed extra sauce and was looking through to find the vegetables in the dish. The crab cake was good, I just wished the sauce wasn't all over it. The others got the fish, they said it was okay, one person needed a modification and the food was delicious. read more

Simply amazing - garlicky and ginger forward broth. We asked for bread later to soak up the rest of the juices. I had the whole snapper and they had the ribeye. Both were amazing! The snapper was probably the best I've had! We made reservations, so strongly recommend that. Some folks in other reviews complained about wait times - we didn't have to wait that long at all, but we took their earliest reservation and we knew what to expect with island time. Cibone is the place to go if you want local island hospitality and great food. Small menu, but it works. Everything on the menu feels local and well thought. I had the Cajun Seafood Alfredo, is a linguine pasta with seasoned shrimps. Not a lot of places know how an Alfredo is made. This was the perfect Alfredo, it felt I was eating a Carbonara without the eggs. Creamy, but not swimming in sauce, you can see they used fresh Parmesan cheese and not a cheap off the shelf imitation like other places. My server was a true islander, nice, friendly and with such a positive attitude. I was in St. Croix last month for a vacation. I did all of my diving from a dive shop in Frederiksted and Cibone was right down the street. I wanted to grab an upscale dinner after diving so I went to Cibone. I sat down at the bar and ordered their Cajun pasta, which was awesome. The seafood in it was cooked perfectly and the cream sauce was awesome. It was a nice, little place to eat. Candle-lit tables and a great atmosphere. Best meal I've had in my life. I'm not joking or being hyperbolic. It was the BEST meal I have ever had. Seriously, the chicken Alfredo is worth a trip to the island by itself. The bar tender was our waiter, and the guy was very kind. He made me feel like we were long-lost friends. My wife got the lobster that was great too, but Alfredo stole the show. This review is long over due! I greatly enjoyed my experience at Ci Bone. It was conveniently located nearby to my hotel/villa. The food and drinks were great and I'm pretty picky. If you're looking for flavorful food, good drinks, a relaxing vibe, love music, and down to earth staff including the owner then I definitely recommend you to check them out. What happened to this restaurant? Used to go here frequently but never again. The last two times have been an embarrassment. One trip the service was so poor we almost walked out when the server didn't know the difference between a salad plate and a bowl. The other night one of my guests ordered a steak medium-rare but received a well done instead. They took it back and while the rest of our party ate he waited 30 minutes to get another well done steak. Except for the one vegan item on the menu there were no vegetables served as a side. Meals were heavy on the starch. Service was slow but hey we're on island time. Limited on beer options. Management seemed focused on charging way high prices with little attention to anything else. read more

Tonight the restaurant was not crowded, so quiet and even a bit romantic. My other half had the best fettuccine Alfredo (with shrimp): it was light, buttery, and lemony without being gummy at all. My grilled swordfish with mango chutney was tend and flavorful. A tad pricey but reasonable; as we have come to learn, here on STX, food is expensive. The service was pleasant and discrete, though our server seemed a bit inexperienced. She did fine, though... My only gripe? We came in on a Tuesday night without a reservation and we were told we'd only be able to sit at the bar . However we saw two parties come in after us and get seated at tables because they knew the proprietors of the restaurant. But for the good parts, I had a delicious house made mango lemonade with rum and my boyfriend had a rum punch that was also very good. The food took a while to come out but It seemed like the kitchen was making each dish individually from scratch so that's a plus . They brought us slices of baguette bread with cheese on it and a balsamic dipping sauce. Next up the main courses, I had the pan seared chicken breast in a garlic cream sauce with broccolini and rice and it was amazing. The chicken was well seasoned the cream sauce paired with the rice was perfect. My boyfriend got the sriracha salmon with rice and broccolini and it was also really tasty. It also seems to be locally owned so that's also a plus! Only drawback to the dinner was the seating and the fact that there were two dishes (a local lionfish dish on the menu and a seafood Alfredo dish) that were unavailable when we arrived at about 830p. Also as is the case for many restaurants on the island, there weren't enough seafood options on the menu considering it's an island in the carribean BUT would Definitely recommend for the good well-seasoned food and good drinks ! read more
