Stewed chicken
Marisa N.

Quick service and filling food! I got the stewed chicken and it was flavorful. Fell right off the bone! The others in my party had the grilled chicken and they said it was well seasoned and tender. A dive like atmosphere with a simple bar and a few tables. Definitely a family owned vibe with authentic food to hit the spot after a long day.

After our excursion we wanted to try & grab some good food, this was recommend so we figured why not give it a try. Drinks we had Fanta & Sprite good. On the food .. White rice & sauté chicken , Grilled chicken & pork collaloo , seafood collaloo these were the dishes of choice , man oh man that rice & chicken slapped very good taste the combination seems to be a popular one & I can see why it was very good. Good grilled chicken as well as the pork & seafood collaloo. We left vey satisfied , small location simple decor , good service & good prices we certainly enjoyed our food worth the try.

Food was great and looks good as the pictures showed, service is very homie and welcoming and the owner is very attentive, great place as expected from an island local restaurant the bar in the restaurant is a plus ordered the tamarind rum and it was very refreshing. All in all the experience was very pleasant!

Stewed chicken, flavorful, fell off the bone.

We stopped here for lunch yesterday. Authentic Caribbean food. I had stewed chicken, the sauce was amazing. My husband had salt fish. Both came with rice, choice of white or seasoned, beans and another choice of side . The stewed chicken sauce was excellent on the rice. Too much food! Place was also spotless, nicely done inside. Highly recommend.

Pepper steak with slaw, beans and rice and peas. Conch with stuffing, beans and rice and peas.

This was hands down the best meal my wife and I had on the island. The service was excellent, and the place felt clean and welcoming. Our server recommended the pepper steak with slaw for me and confidently mentioned that their conch could hold its own against the best -- and they were right. We devoured everything you see in the picture.

Stewed chicken with seasoned rice (a tad salty), beans and plantains.

Alba's is the quintessential "hole in the wall"surprise restaurant, a true gem. It's modest and blends right into its neighborhood. (In fact, the first time we went, we passed it a couple of times without realizing it.) The help is friendly and genuine. You feel like you're entering somebody's kitchen at home and they're offering you a meal - but of course you have to pay for it. The food is simple, honest, and tasty. I had the stewed chicken (legs) with plantains and seasoned rice. The chicken was tender, the plantains were deliciously sweet, and the seasoned rice was pretty good, but a little bit too salty for my taste. Next time I'll get plain white rice. My husband had conch stew which he really enjoyed. If you're looking for a relaxed, laid-back, homemade kind of meal, Alba's is a great choice.

Fried snapper and chicharrones(fried chicken-really flavorful and crunchy).

Been here at St. Croix for 4 days and we finally got Caribbean food. Wanted to try this the day before but my bf wanted something else, then I tried to offer it again the next day and he finally said yes. Let me tell you this, this place is bomb. Service was good and food was even better!! I got the fried snapper and my bf got the chicharrones(fried chicken). We food love food and we judge everything we eat, privately of course, and this place is good!!! If you're ever in Frederiksted, go here if you want good Caribbean food.

After traveling for two days this was the best warm meal we had... made it even better. There may have been 5 cooks in the kitchen but that didn't bother me. No sign for cost of food on the menu was off putting. 2cokes, 1beef pate,1 chicken pate that came with rice/beans = $28 usd. Clean dining room and kitchen. The locals were there eating alongside us- always a good sign.

Deep Fried Fish yellow rice and beans, drink red bull and Jim beam. You buy the red bull can.

This place is the best on the island! Great drinks! Tito is the best so sweet (Owner)! service was amazing everyone is great!

What an amazing meal. Started off with delicious Rum Punch. Carib beer for the non rum drinker. Menu is limited but everyone's meal was delicious. Potfish in Creole sauce and conch in a butter sauce. Sides of rice, beans and fried plantains. I believe the chef took our order personally and then made our meal . Vibe is casual and local, friendly and welcoming. Will go back. GO! Not for you if you want cookie cutter menu. Also you can head to the bar after for some music.

I ordered the Coco Berry Cream ($12.37) which was slightly sweet and refreshing with berry and coconut flavors. I also got three tacos ($19.59) served with tomato, onion, jalapenos, and cheese. The tacos were flavorful and the ingredients tasted fresh, especially with their house salsa on the side. I also grabbed a bottle of water ($3.09). One thing to note is that 18% gratuity is automatically added to all checks, which is common on the island. Also the billl is slightly less if pay by cash. They also had some interesting specials posted like two pork belly tacos with rice and beans for $22, and margaritas like a Spicy Pomegranate Lunazul Margarita ($15) and Orange Cranberry Margarita ($13). Overall, the food was tasty, the atmosphere was fun, and the service was smooth.

Located in this Old Stone building with plenty of other shops. This place was a hidden treasure, very quaint. Very fun. Huge interior. Many places to sit neat and clean and very friendly counter people Make no mistake, this is definitely a tourist spot since it's right off the dock where the cruise ship lands. But I will tell you what this place is worth the crowd. Plenty of inside seating as well as plenty of outside seating on an adjacent patio. I ordered the barbecue chicken sandwich, a bag of chips and a Cruzan Confusion... A very strong alcoholic beverage. One thing I have learned being on St. Croix is things do not happen fast. Best thing to do is drop your expectations. Sit back and just enjoy the experience. With that in mind, I cracked open my bag of chips and started drinking my drink. The chicken sandwich came out and I was so impressed by the size... Huge piece of chicken on the wheat buns with lettuce, barbecue sauce and onion. Absolutely perfect, and the bag of chips was a great compliment as well. Bottom line? If you are down by the docks looking around doing all the tourist activities, this is the place you need to go to get a bite to eat!, so sit back, relax and take a break from the day and enjoy some good food.
