My buddy Chad had told me about this place and said we were definitely going to stop by there. To be honest, I had forgotten about it and was super excited when he said hey. We're heading to Beach Side Cafe! Located right on the waterfront, this place has some of the most spectacular views of the ocean that I've ever seen in my life. I mean, come on! We're in the Caribbean. You would expect an absolutely amazing view, and this place delivers! Of course, you can't really have a good meal without some sort of rum drink.. and they have got you covered no matter what you want. They have a good diverse menu of drinks, the staff is super friendly and willing to help you out to decide what poison you want to try, and everything hits on all cylinders. For food, I went with the Smashburger which was huge. Now I've had a lot of smashburgers in the day but this was a lot of meat. The double patties were thicker than a normal Smashburger so it was like the equivalent of four smashburgers in one. Cook to perfection, andiIt comes with fries, but I upgraded to the Caesar salad for a couple bucks more. Let me tell you sometimes you got to be healthy and this Caesar salad made me feel like I was doing my part. We were fortunate enough to be there when the sunset, take a look at the pictures and you'll see what I mean. Mean. Food almost got cold while I was standing there gawking at the beauty and Majesty of the sunset here in the Virgin Islands. You would be hard-pressed to find a better place to dine and watch the landscape. Bottom line? How could you not go back here again? Every time I go to St. Croix I stay at the Cottages by the Sea. Every time I stay at Cottages by the Sea I eat dinner at Beachside Cafe. I do that not only because it is immediately next door, but also because the staff and ambiance is wonderful. The location is impossible to beat!! Ocean view from every table. We arrived after checking in to our cottage next door. Loved the convenient location to our cottage by the sea resort. We were welcomed and seated right away. We sat near the water but since it was already dark out we couldn't see anything, so we're looking forward to returning during the day. Our waitress was very nice and took our orders. Disappointing Experience - Not Worth the Price Because I've been in the industry for so long, it's never crossed my mind to leave a review like this, but.. I had high hopes for Beach Side Café in St. Croix, but unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. I spent $150 only to be served canned green beans and poorly prepared food. We started with fried cauliflower and a shrimp dish, they were ok, drinks were good. I ordered the grilled mahi with jasmine rice and seasoned green beans. The fish was extremely overcooked, dry, and flavorless. The jasmine rice tasted like it had been sitting in a rice cooker all day--mushy and bland. And the "seasoned" green beans? Straight from a can. I've been in the hospitality industry for nearly 20 years, and I know a canned vegetable when I see one. My wife got the garlic butter shrimp with jasmine rice and a Caesar salad. The only redeeming part of her meal was the salad, and I'm convinced the only fresh ingredient in it was the lettuce. The shrimp, advertised as jumbo, were more like small-to-medium size (maybe 16/20s at best). There was no garlic, no butter--just a sad, watery shrimp "sauce", more like the liquid leftover from cooking frozen shrimp in a rush. And once again, the rice was the same mushy mess. Overall, this place is a joke. Maybe they're going through some rough patches, but whatever the issue is, they need to figure it out fast. I wouldn't come back for dinner if you paid me. But judging by the reviews a lot of folks get paid. read more

Beach Side Cafe at Sand Castle is one of our favorite dining spots in St. Croix. Every dish we've tried has been excellent, but the Cheeseburger really stands out - I'd say it's the best on the island. Their drinks are great too, especially the Bushwhacker, which is probably the best I've had anywhere! Don't miss the Bread Pudding; it's incredible! It's best enjoyed at the restaurant, but it's just as delicious to-go. Highly recommend this spot for a memorable meal with amazing flavors and views of Dorsch beach!!! read more

What an absolutely beautiful spot to enjoy a romantic dinner on the beach!!! We reserved a beach table and we're provided with the best service from our awesome waiters Trevor & Maria all night. We got to enjoy a gorgeous tropical flower arrangement and felt so special and taken care of. We started off with frozen drinks, a must for a beach dinner right?! Both of our drinks were delicious and got the party going for us. We then ordered our main meals - skipped right past the apps although so many options looked good! I got mahi mahi with Mac and cheese and plantains to go with. My plantains were my favorite and I could have had a whole plate of just those! The mahi was good, the Mac and cheese was great! I do have to say, the dessert was the star of the show though!! Their bread pudding is TO DIE FOR. This dish is very rich and sweet, so I'd recommend sharing if you can. Do not skip this though, even if you're a normal dessert skipper. We added vanilla ice cream which is a must. Overall, I'd highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area!! read more

Great view while you eat no matter the time of day, but the sunset is breathtaking. 4 visits to this resort restaurant and all the food has been delicious. The waitress on the 4th visit was a bit scatter brained, but nice. Nice doesn't alway mean they are a good waitress. She lost our food ticket and only gave us our drink ticket. We talked to the manager and got it figured out. Didn't want to leave without paying for the food we ate. The resort manager gave use each a free drink for our troubles. Everyone has their days that they don't function at their best so we aren't holding it against her. All in all it was a great experience. read more

We loved this restaurant so much that we went back a second time while in vacation. Since it's on the west side of the island you get the absolute best view of the sunset over the ocean, truly unbeatable. It's all outside seating (mostly covered). I am only giving this place four stars, because nothing on the island, in my estimation, holds a candle to Savant. Having said that, I think this is a fantastic place! It is casual, yet rather elegant in its own way. During the day I am sure it is a great beachside restaurant/bar, but as the sun begins to set, it turns into a wonderful dining spot. We were lucky to get a seat on the open side of the restaurant (right side facing the water) and right up against the small wall separating the beach from the facility. The absolute best table in the house - although the high top area to the right would be nice as well. Under the roofed structure is nice, but at sunset they turn on the lights and it is just a bit too light. My pictures were from our table, BTW. The food was very tasty, but not exceptional. I guess this also makes it four stars. The bang bang shrimp is tasty, but not "to die for" wonderful. Certainly a great appetizer though. I had the pork chops and street corn. I am a sucker for grilled food and this didn't disappoint. The chops were very flavorful, if a bit overdone. They were fairly thin so that can happen more times than not. My wife had the wings and mango cucumber salad. Both very sturdy and well made. While I wish the bartender was better equipped to make cocktails, the Bougainville was a solid, if not exactly inspiring Cruzan cocktail. Ok, I had two so it was certainly tasty. My wife had the rum cake for desert and she loved it. I had hoped it would be a bit richer and more rum-soaked (seemed a bit dry), but she absolutely loved it. Our server, Norrie, was delightful! Sadly, we are leaving the island today, but I will make this a stop on future trips. read more

In all of our time in St Croix we didn't have a 'miss' for any of our meals, but our dinner at the Beach Side Cafe was very good. We got there around 6pm for our reservation and were seated immediately. My first thought was 'this place isn't as fancy as I expected', forgetting I was in St Croix and most places are casual dress. Before I get to the food I have to say the staff and service were great. We actually had a monsoon blow through so a bunch of people at the edges of the outdoor seating needed to be moved. No one complained and even though a few people got wet they took it in stride. We started off with some drinks and appetizers. Wifey started off with a Sailee Dae - kind of like a dark and stormy and I had the Carpashio- like a pistachio liquor coconut rum milkshake...I'm sure it was calorie free, but it was honestly one of the best drinks I've ever tasted. Kids had the Sunny Daze mocktails which they loved. Hey also give you some Focaccia bread with a balsamic reduction...SOOO good. For our appetizers we had Bang bang shrimp - similar to Bonefish, but oh so much better. We also tried the Ahi tuna, seared, with a pickled slaw and mango compote with cinnamon and a spicy rub that tastes like cayenne. This was also AMAZING, but if you're averse to spicy food I'd try something else. For our entrees my daughter had a Caesar salad and a ribeye-steak, which she said was delicious but too fatty. My wife and I both had the Local fish duo- fresh tuna and Mahi with chimmichurri and roasted Brussels, roasted tomatoes and fennel over jasmine rice. This was really delicious-I mean a home run. I had my tuna seared and the grilled Mahi was fantastic. The boy had the Seared salmon and it included roasted blue potatoes and an asparagus slaw. To quote the boy: "this is the greatest salmon I've ever eaten!" For dessert it was Mango crisp a la mode for me, grilled mango with cinnamon and ice cream for Wifey , and cappuccino brownie a la mode for the kids. One more place I'm definitely going to again if I get back to St Croix. read more

They were so sweet and let us sit close to water despite an employee meeting going on. The kickin' chicken salad croissant was stellar! Buttery, tasty and filling! Beach Side Cafe at Sand Castle on the Beach is the place to be if you want a great view and service. The place has a phenomenal view to the beach and their employees are just amazing. Now, I had the opportunity to taste all their different Menus, and I would like to start with Brunch, At Brunch I ordered a Breakfast bowl and it was good, except for the potatoes soaked in oil, the rest was good, refreshing, not too much food or too little. In another occasion I order the Omelette and it was great, very light and fluffy. At Lunch I tried almost everything in the menu and it was not good, in one occasion I order the Queso DIP, the tortillas were amazing, crispy and they looked homemade, the DIP was not good, it looked and tasted like something out a jar. Not warm enough and just not very appealing. The toasted Tuna Melt was almost good, but the Chef made the mistake of adding heat to the taste, it was very spicy and not something you will serve while you are at the beach, is just not a refreshing sandwich for a hot day at the beach. Also, all sandwiches are served in a tortilla wrap or a croissant. These types of sandwiches are too heavy and loaded with ingredients to be served in a croissant, is just messy. Now, the BLT in a wrap was very good, nothing to add and subtract, crispy bacon with fresh lettuce, OMG, it was very good! Just don't try the croissant version, as I explained before, ( messy) . Let's move to the Dinner Menu, it was bad, very very bad. Overpriced food, not well executed and the menu doesn't match with a dinner by the beach at all. Chicken Caprese, it was good but a lot of balsamic to add flavor, try less balsamic and slides of Mozzarella on top of the tomatoes and not melted. Grilled Mahi, dry, dry, dry. It didn't look appetizing at all, the outside was white, almost like they boiled the fish and so dry with no flavor. Try a mix of garlic, butter and parley to add on top of the Mahi. And don't grill the fish, use an iron Pan with butter for the cooking process. Pork Chops, the marinade was made with some sort of Balsamic and it was sweet and weird. I can say that the pork chops were the only meat with some nice golden brown color. But, still dry. You need to sear the pork chops before cooking it. I would have seared it on the grill, transfer it an iron pan and finish the cooking with Marsala and butter. Topped with white mushrooms in the Marsala sauce. Mediterranean Pasta, do not order this dish. so many wrong things with the dish. It felt the Chef added all the ingredient's in the kitchen to create this plate, and to finish, he added feta cheese, so salty and mixed. I couldn't taste a single favor. My advice, start from scratch and remove this from your menu. You want a pasta in your menu? Try with a garlic and olive oil pasta with shrimps, simple and refreshing. Your restaurant is on the beach! My last day I ordered the special, it was a 14oz NY Steak, this is the first time I have used the salt and pepper from the table in a steak, not seasoned at all! Also, I asked for Medium, and the meat came well done. If your Chef can't make a descent steak, he is not a Chef at all! Now the goods! The corn and back bean salad is so good! refreshing, nice acidic taste and crispy. Your Jasmin Rice is perfect, the texture ! OMG it very good. I could eat that rice all day. Your Chicken Wings! so crispy, well done and amazing taste. Overall, the place needs a new Chef and menu ASAP! is overpriced and I understand is because the view and the whole island has overprice food. But you definitely need a menu that can be paired with the location of your restaurant and the feeling of a layback and great service place. If you want a great view and good service, go to Beach Side Cafe. If you are expecting a good and ocean menu, you are not going to find it here. I stayed a week in the hotel and explored the Menu for 7 days, it was a full week of disappointments. read more

I was pretty disappointed with this place to be honest. It's a nice atmosphere for an evening cocktail and it was pretty busy. The servers didn't seem to treat each other well and over hearing that as a patron was a big let down. The Mahi Mahi I had was good and reasonably priced for what I ordered. With a side of chips or cole slaw. I had the Mahi mahi. The fish was grilled. Just meh. It was $17 and you got about 2 oz of cole slaw. Not wonderful. The burger with chips was $13.
