With so much opportunity for a great coffee shop, I don't understand why Brew operates the way it does. On the outside it appears to be a progressive, positive, thoughtful little neighborhood coffee shop and cafe. But just underneath that surface, it's a poorly run coffee business with a weird vibe inside. I keep going back to see if I am just experiencing them on an "off" day but nope! It's unclear where you order, all of the servers act like they would rather be anywhere else, there is never any acknowledgment. There are signs everywhere, you're not sure what to look at... we came in at 3:45pm for an afternoon cappuccino and were told that they close at 4pm and "all the dishes were in the wash" so we couldn't order anything... not a single drink was available. There was no apology or explanation for why they decided to close early.. being in the vicinity of 4pm is not 4pm. That's just bad service all around. Not to mention, the vibe inside is really weird.. confusing, funky, dark, not welcoming or bright or organized. There are flyers and signs everywhere so you're not really sure what to look at... I'm just trying to get a cup of coffee here, why does it have to be so hard every time I go to Brew? C'mon, pull it together! read more

This place just made me happy. I am always overjoyed to support businesses that create an inclusive atmosphere. For starters, the business title on the storefront is accompanied by the letters spelled out in visual sign language, each hand having a different skin tone. There was a large LGBTQ flag flying out front. They had food options to fit a variety of dietary needs and preferences. Having visited in November of 2020, I appreciated the artwork adorning the windows and storefront, in particular, a painting of the late justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg wearing a face mask that read "VOTE". There was also a communal mural outside promoting unity and supporting Black Lives Matter. My husband and I enjoyed our breakfast! I got a simple breakfast burrito and he had a bagel with lox and cream cheese. I also got a cold brew, and it was crazy strong- just how I like it! I want to thank this business for promoting unity and creating such an inclusive atmosphere. I cannot wait for the next opportunity to give this place my money!!! read more

LOVE!!!! This is my new favorite place to get work done. I loved the vibe of the place, with lots of nice seating options, squishy couches, large windows, board games, Cards Against Humanity (win!!), ample outside seating, and art covering the walls. Service was very friendly, and the whole place was relaxing, really. Looking at their menu, I know I'll be coming back to try their more substantial items including quesadillas, burritos, etcetc. As a note though, they do NOT have wifi. Depending on who you are, however, this can be good or bad. If you're like me and even dictionary.com distracts you, this will be surprising, but actually GREAT because suddenly I was stuck in this awesome place with a cappuccino and espresso torte with nothing to do but finally finish my med school essay!!! I remember when this place was the donut hut, went there once years ago when I was in high school looking for a job. Decided to come late one night to try their coffee. I ordered a mocha, and honestly it was good; however for a small size to go cup it was like 5+ dollars!!! That's pretty dang expensive when comparing it to other coffee houses. The LAST thing we need in downtown Santa Rosa is another place to get a cup of coffee or a beer. We already have more than our fair share of places to get a cup of Joe or to grab a cold one. I had been walking by Brew for a few months now and figured I would check it out, thinking it would not likely match up to some of my favorites. I was WRONG! It is hard not to like a place that flies the rainbow flag and has a sign posted that they are a member of the Chamber of Commerce. The place is well light, with lots of windows. The décor is the right taste of eclectic hippy without being overdone / overbearing. They have cool art, some of which had signs tastefully advertising how to contact the artist to buy it. Second, even though it is pretty small, they did a nice job of setting up several sitting areas, each of which feels a little different (different types of chairs and different arrangements). The outside seating looked particularly nice, but you cannot take beer outside (city law). I came to try the beer. Their list is about 14-16, all draft, all unique stuff (no Lagunitas IPA or Sierra Nevada Pale Ale here). They serve the beer in the appropriate shaped glasses. (The guy sitting next to me got the Belgian Dubbel, which came in the appropriate bubble-shaped chalice.) The sell 5 ounce pours if you want to try a bunch. A lot has changed -- to be clear -- improved since my first visit when the training wheels were still on. From the get-go the concept was spot on and now the crew is able to really breathe life into it. This is your spot for high quality beer and wine selections, well-informed and skilled baristas (or your preferred term for espresso drink makers), gluten-free and normal pastries, some great-looking quiche slices, and a variety of paninis. There are also breakfast selections available and a rocking happy hour (4-6p) and reverse happy hour (8-10p). I do wish they were open later. For you people who love really good ice cream, do note that the fabulous ice cream of Healdsburg's Noble Folk is served here. Three flavors: Vanilla Bean, Swiss Chocolate and Ritual Coffee. Afogato and cold brew floats are on the menu and I bet you could come up with ways to expand those offerings. I have to mention the rainbow flags. The older of the two RR Sq cafes used to have almost an unspoken/invisible Rainbow flag sensibility. It is good to see an actual flag waving and I can tell you that this spot celebrated the SCOTUS marriage equality decision with a super-extended Happy Hour. (We're talking DAYS here.) Like grilled cheese sandwiches? Step right up. One of my fave bars in Amsterdam served Tosties -- remarkably like grilled cheese -- and that's been in my search list. As of today: Search Complete. After a transphobic interaction at "The Gentleman's Parlor" down the street, I left the barbershop shaken and crying, needing to find a queer space. I needed to be somewhere that I could remember that I'm not the only person who believes that people are who they say they are. Brew is that place. I'm new in town and hadn't been before, and it was the perfect place to sniffle my way into and curl into a cozy couch, after looking over the community bulletin board and finding recommendations for a better hairdresser. Since then, I've come to appreciate the love that the LGBTQ+ community has for Brew. It's super easy to make plans with other queers when you already know where you're going to meet. I can't actually afford to go work at Brew all day in order to identify the people in town that I want to be friends with, but if I did, I think it would work out well. read more

I really like Brew! It sits in a part of downtown Santa Rosa that I wouldn't expect but I'm glad I found it. I had a simple latte but they have latte specials made with syrups they make in house. They had some delicious looking food items like avocado toast, pastries and I think breakfast sandwiches but I have yet to try those. The staff was really friendly and didn't rush me when taking my order. I was tempted to try their chai but they said it was on the sweet side which isn't my thing. There are tables and bar seats that you can sit at while sipping your coffee and studying or talking with friends. The latte was bold but smooth and tasted like good quality espresso. You can also order beer and mimosas here if you aren't in the mood for coffee. I will definitely come back! I only found metered street parking but there was plenty of places to park on a weekend morning. read more

This place has become a huge favorite for breakfast sandwiches especially and the breakfast burritos for my whole family. That said, we've been upset with several times when they get our orders wrong. I would rather give three stars because of service, but the food is so good and don't want them to really fail, I keep the 4 stars. The only other place with just a good breakage sandwiches, ( whom they copied, actually) is criminal baking co... but there's are more expensive so I go to brew. My favorite breakfast sandwich is sausage, ad bacon and grilled pepper and onion. Yum. Then the avocado toast in revolution bread is a great alternative if you want no meat one day. Yum. read more

We love this place! It's our "go to" for brunch and coffee. The food is made with high quality ingredients, is always fresh, they have a good espresso machine and the baristas all make good drinks. My favorite is the Rainbow toast, a glorified avocado toast with goat cheese and other veggies on Revolution bread! Yum!!! They always have either a vegan or vegetarian soup and other specials. The lack of power outlets is a major issue for someplace located so close to the srjc (and, therefore, all the students who seek places like this out to do their work). The only outlets are on one wall behind two tables, making it very socially awkward to try and plug in, even if you did bring an actual extension cord. Otherwise, the place is great. read more

I have been supporting the Brew for almost 6 years now stopping by maybe every 2 to 3 weeks along with attending open mic nights the space is beautiful but the workers and owner are very rude I was I was told to leave because I didn't purchase anything and that I'm not keeping the business running when I have been a customer for a while of time now and I bring and spread awareness for people to come visit right now I'm not drinking alcohol or coffee because I have cancer and I simply have my own tea ​ what I wanted to do was write a few Christmas letters and read a newspaper but I was kicked out I felt like I needed to write this Yelp perfume to spread awareness that the Brew is not a safe space for everyone it's a safe space for their own greed let's spread this awareness and make sure that other coffee shops in the area are getting enough attention as well but spread the awareness of common compassion and space is for people to breathe namaste I'm sorry but the Brew is is no longer an ally of mine read more

Coffee is good, I like the ambiance and the outside seating is great. I didn't get to test out the wifi as it was a quick stop. I ordered a soy latte, & my boyfriend ordered the same. The coffee came with little latte art leaves. I liked that. The pastries looked great and I loved the local feeling of this coffee house. We made a very brief stop here during a road trip. I ordered what I can sincerely say was the best avocado toast I've ever had in my entire life. The bread was to die for and the avocado was perfectly seasoned with chilli. The only regret I have is not ordering anything else!
