I used to go to this bar all the time in my younger years. I haven't been there in years. I stopped in to celebrate my sister and my birthday for old times sake. Alyssa the bartender was very nice. I'm 23 years old and attend SSU. I went to Tradewinds with my friends as we do every Thursday for the Cotati Crawl. I'm a couple years older than my friends but it's never been an issue. Last night, one of my friends was asked to show the bouncer her debit card and her ID because her hair color was different than her ID said. That's fine. Whatever. THEN ITS MY TURN. I hand the bouncer my ID and he looks at it for a few seconds and then hands it to a random guy who then tells me he is an undercover police officer and that I have a fake id. I DO NOT HAVE A FAKE ID. The police were then super hostile towards me and called it in to see if my ID was real, which it WAS. I was then allowed into the bar but was so angry I just left! IF Tradewinds is worried about underage kids going to the bar maybe they should invest in an actual ID Scanner! This was such a horrible experience especially as a college student who attends the local university. I highly doubt I will want to go back to their bar after this incident. I really wanted to report their business but I'm unsure how so here I am writing this review on Yelp. read more

if I could give zero stars I would I felt like I was in elementary school all over again and they said the girls cannot wear spaghetti straps because it would distract the boys. They were offended that my dress continuously got up and maybe I was showing a little bit too much they asked me to leave they accuse me of smoking or vaping when I don't even own a vape, and when I was outside of the premises, they attacked me and treated me less than dirt. Went for drinks with my wife and her friend. Her friends boyfriend showed up and drank too much... Chase the bartender decided to call the cops, after my friends boyfriend became belligerent. All would be well except Chase told the cops I hit my wife............... An hour later, after my detention with 6 cotati police officers, and handcuffs for both me and my wife, we were released because we didnt do a damn thing! 0 stars, this bar sucks! I'm relatively neutral when it comes to this place, so let me break it down. Good things: Pool table(s?) Outdoor patio seating Happy Hour until 9! Bad things: The aforementioned hippies Beer selection is mediocre College crowd later in the evening Hit and Miss things: The live performers I think there's nothing wrong with hitting up the Happy Hour specials before 9 and then heading out before the crawl crowd gets going in full-gear. Also, apparently I rubbed a patron the wrong way so he spent 10 minutes talking about how I am "retarded" and "trite" - and then decided to apologize for saying mean things and buy me and my friends a round. Came here a couple months ago after missing out on filming but my friends had the chance. Dropped about $150 between the four of us and got: - Service with attitude. - Drunk management. - 45 minute wait for drinks while SITTING at the bar. - Harassment from employees after leaving an honest review about the experience. Here's the thing, Tradewinds, don't ever lash out at patrons. Negative feedback happens and is a risk you take on social media, you address it in a professional manner and invite the customer back to fix the problem. We WERE going to visit this Sunday evening for the Bar Rescue premiere, but after an employee left TWO false Yelp reviews slandering the name of a person in our party, we opted not to revisit ever again. That was petty and presents a liability on your part. You know what sucks? You really want to know? I work in the tourism industry and always point people where to drink, here in Wine Country. I'll only send people to Tradewinds if they want to see an abortion of a bar. I can't wait until this place closes within the year and turns into a Starbucks or Peet's. Maybe I'll get a drink faster and treated with respect. Tip: Go across the street to Friar Tuck's or visit the convenience store to get your drinks. read more

The bar staff is very VERY untrained. 2 of the most popular cocktails ordered and they didn't know how to make them... A Manhattan, and a Moscow Mule. A Manhattan is a cornerstone drink of ANY bar and one of the MOST classic cocktails out there. A Moscow Mule, though newer in popularity is a no-brainer: Vodka + Ginger Beer + Squeeze of fresh lime, and the ONLY drink with the designated copper cup - which the bartender didn't even know it came in one. Though this in it of itself should have 2 stars taken away, I'll only take one. Ordered 2 drinks...a vodka soda, and a vodka tonic. We both wanted different vodkas, she confused them, laughed about, didn't offer to remedy it - when a customer orders TOP SHELF booze, it should be given as requested. When we even suggested we get the right drinks she rolled her eyes asked "Is it really that big of a deal?". Why, yes, yes it was - considering my friend was a diabetic and can't have Tonic and ordered soda water instead. Minus another star. Wasn't busy when we were in...yet somehow took my friends 25 min to get our 2nd round. Looks like they went up during a shift change...so the 1 incoherent bartender was replaced with 2-3, and it couldn't have been more of a cluster f#ck. Then, once our drinks were ordered...it was another 10 before we even got them. Not the most stellar showing for a Saturday night crew. Minus another star. The music was way too loud for the crowd, and the building. We literally sat in the furthest corner possible away from the music (it was entertaining, but it was earlyish and we wanted to chat amongst ourselves). We were screaming less then 1 foot from each other to chat, ended up heading outside to attempt to chat...8pm on a Saturday night, most people want to chill with background noise, not have a horribly dressed Elvis impersonator bouncing around dancing on the tables (would have been more appropriate around 11pm or later). Minus another star. So, horrible service, horrible bartenders, horrible drinks, and obnoxious atmosphere...? We won't be returning for a pregaming sesh here...ever. Tradewinds is like a Ford Pinto. It will get you where you need to go - maybe - but it sure as HELL won't be in style. It's the epitome of Dirty Old Man Bar, and you WILL have the attention of every one of those Old Men, hand's down. I had a half hour conversation on the contruction of my recycled purse with one of them, good times people. Good times. It's small, it's dark, it's nitty and it's gritty. This is a great place to enjoy a drink or a great hip hop event. Please just make sure you are very legit because the local police agency will make it a point to be as annoying as they possibly can! Besides the intimidation and harassment by the local police agency this place is incredible. I love the atmosphere. Everyone is so positive and friendly. I love the vibes here. Next time your ever in Catoti you should make it a point to pull up to Tradewinds Bar and get your party on! Just make sure you are one hundred percent legitimate. A fun place to catch a game, have a pint, listen to music and be treated like family. Traci, Chase, Dan, Bronte, Dylan and Jaclyn are all fantastic. The regulars are friendly, good vibes all round. Traci serves up free food on Fridays which is awesome. Not a fan of changing the sign with Gilligan's Island font, Bar Rescue decor, and tropical drink theme. That is not Cotati, or the legacy of Tradewinds! Also the lack of Live music is a buzz kill. Still the nice screens, cold taps, camaraderie and ownership make up for it. read more

Historic Local Bar...Live Locally Based Music almost every night. Think classy Biker Bar. So if you expect a Hoity Toity vibe, dont go here. The bar has a Large faithful local clientele and thus , dont really go all out to impress tourists. The Bars is Roomy, Clean enough, and friendly if you are not there to judge...If you go for drinks, it's great. if you go expecting the staff to kiss you butt...you will be disappointed. This is a small little bar in Cotati. For a small little bar, everyone who comes through or works there is very pleasant. If you are shy, I would stay away from here because everyone is instantly your best friend. They have live music almost every night, which is very nice, but it is usually way too loud for how small of a place it is. There are pool tables, and a few seated tables inside and out. On mondays they make dinner, and the gentleman sure knows what he is doing in the kitchen! Drinks are goods too, minus the mojitos. read more

Its Cotati people, what do you expect? Tradewinds is the only bar that offers live music on a pretty nightly basis. I wouldn't say the drinks are stellar, but just stick with beer. They serve Mirror Pond, which hardly anyone does. The place is pretty crowded when there is music. Its a tiny spot so a few groups makes it feel crowded. There are two pool tables, but really only one because the band also takes the other one with their stuff. Its really a low key vibe, where the college kids don't tend to go. So I like it. read more

My worst experience at Tradewinds ever. I was there about a half hour buying drinks for several people, drinking and just about to start dancing. When a 7ft, bald, black securtiy gaurd starts creeping up behind me slowly pushing me towards the door, when I went look back he forcefully grabbed me by the back of my neck shoved me towards the door. Escorting me for no apparent reason all way out the door. Never said a word as to why he was kicking me out and then; many witnesses/customer's walked out after me confirming they saw him do it and it looked uncalled for. I was hardly intoxicated at all by the time my buzz was killed by a pompous, disrespectful, abusive bouncer. If I was the owner I wouldn't want someone like that employed in my bar/club. I will never come back after this incident. read more

I just went in to Tradewinds and wow has it changed! New pool tables a great selection of craft beers. The place is spotless. They serve food now from Brixx pizza right next door. They had great live bands so u can eat drink dance and listen to live music love it!!! I like the patio too, catch some rays while you people watch! read more

Well, I haven't been to the Tradewinds in well over a year, considering they are the worst bar in downtown Cotati (for multiple reasons) and the other night, me and my friend decided we would give the place another try. Now I had 4 mixed drinks all night, so I was completely fine and my friend had 3, so even more NOT drunk. We get up to the bouncer, he says let me see your id, and then asks my friend how much she's had to drink. She told him and he said "nope you're lying you're not coming in" we both literally thought he was joking. He proceeded to tell her that her eyes were glazed over, and she was wobbling. Which she 100% was not. We just were shocked and walked to the side. There was a group of guys standing there saying they weren't let in too. Now, I know what intoxicated looks like and I know none of us were at a point to not get into a bar, let alone the damn TRADEWINDS. She went back up to the guy and asked to talk to his boss. He said "I don't have to give you names get the f**k away from me you beaner" after that, we were infuriated. This is a BOUNCER talking to her like this. Called her a racial slur because she wanted to talk to his manager. I am so disgusted that 1) a 30 year old with a big head and too much pretend authority wouldn't let my friend in the trashiest, nastiest bar in town 2) he cussed at us for no reason 3) he decided it was a good idea to call her a racial nickname This place has the lowest standards in Cotati and somehow has gotten even worse. It's dirty, and honestly a joke. The bartenders have cocaine literally falling out of their noses while they are serving drinks, the security guards are obviously beyond inexperienced, and the overall atmosphere is just gross. I hope that guy who dealt with us at the door calls the right person the wrong thing and gets his karma. Do yourself a favor and skip this trash bar. Literally any of the other bars are 100x better. Even that makeover show couldn't help them. read more

Friendly place, good drinks. My GF and her friend tried the new drinks from their "Bar Rescue". The owners (Dan and Traci) seemed pleased with the rescue. The place was a little slow(10-15 people) but we were there early(6-8pm on the Friday after thanksgiving) the place was filling up around the time we left. Definitely will be back. read more

Tradewinds has always surprised me. It is one of the only places in downtown Cotati that has any music other than top 40 pop bullshit. I've seen some pretty good bands play down here. It is a bit hit or miss, but relative to the rest of the Cotati bars, this is likely my favorite. If you're lucky enough to go in when they're serving food, make sure that you order some. I ordered some chicken parmesan one night that was pretty dang good and had left overs that came in especially handy when I got the drunchies (drunk munchies.) I also enjoy the fact that I live less than a quarter mile from this place. I've been tiring of the Cotati scene for a while, but if you find yourself out on Thursday night in Cotati, stop by and drink some whiskey with me. read more

Came here with a friend of mine the other day for his 21st and had an awesome experience, It seemed like there were a decent amount of folk for a Sunday to Monday crowd but that didn't stop Chase from killing it behind the bar, he told us first round was on him for my friend, and after that we ran a pretty good tab somewhere between $50-$60 between the two of us, and when I went to pay at the end of the night chase told me it was all on the house, to me that was awesome, the first round would have been cool enough but to throw away a whole tab, that was just too cool, also they have a 100% free shuttle service that they said no one hardly uses, it'll pick you up and drop you off in Rohnert park, so even if you only have a drink or two there, might as well utilize a free ride! read more

Drinks are over priced.... Sometimes they get some decent bands on the weekends.

Cool to kick it with a friend or two, they have some bizzare bands that play there but its a cool spot to get a drink before the late night hours. Past like 1030 its a lot of old people wearing too tight of clothes and trying to rekindle their youth. read more
